NS coal train

  • I live on the former Erie main line in far southwestern New York. Conrail left the line for dead, but it has been resurrected and sees growing local traffic pulled by Alco C424s of the Western New York and Pennsylvania, which is now the name of the line. In recent months there have been Norfolk Southern coal trains passing through, en route to Sayre, PA and then ultimately to a power plant near Ithaca, NY. Can anyone tell me the origin of these trains, their route prior to passing my house and any particulars about train gross tonnage and schedules? They seem to be pretty random in their timing, but there must be some method to it.

  • I can't find it in my NS train list. Do you know what the yard names or the power plant name is?
