    So basically, they never expire. So if you wanted to use it, you would have to buy a one-way a NEC train south (or PATH), and then you could use the RT ticket to go north on a NEC (or NJCL) train back to NYP.

  • Yuhp, but just one more thing that I found out.

    If you buy it on board from a conductor, it expires one year after the punch date. If you buy it from a Ticket Agent or TVM (Ticket Vending Machine), then it never expires. Since you rode out of NY Penn, I'm assuming that you used a TVM, so it will last forever (or at least until it decomposes).

  • Well we didn't actually stop at Daveluyville, we drove past it. In total we did over 500 miles of driving instead.

  • It's been quite a while since I've posted in here! School has kept me really busy, and I haven't had as much time to post or work on railroad related activities. This year was my senior year of high school, and so the last few weeks were filled with finals, writing a speech (I was our class speaker at Graduation), and other last minute details. But, my high school graduation was last Friday evening, so I'm done now! well, at least until College in the fall.

    I have been stopping in to read the new posts daily, but I just haven't had the time or anything worthwhile to post myself lately. I have enjoyed all the photos and videos however, as there have been some nice sightings lately. All the talk of New York has reminded me that I still haven't finished processing an posting my photos from my trip to New York last August either. Perhaps now that I have more time, I'll actually get things like that done...

    I better be going, as I have a couple of graduation parties to get to.

  •  Well, as usual, a rather slow week, though with Minntac firing back up, that should change.

     

     

    During my usual weekly trip to Superior, I spotted a UP train heading across the harbor under the Bong Bridge. Luckily, I managed to find a decent spot to put the vid on it.

    From there, it was quiet until yesterday back on the Brainerd Sub, where I caught a coal load led by the only BNSF H3 SD70MAC that has eluded me. I've now shot all three of them.

  • Nice catch on the SD70MAC in H3.

     As for the commuter cars, I really don't know. Does MBTA or NJT have any on order? AMT has an order for 160 brand new cars, but the first ones aren't due until the third quarter.

  • Looking at them in comparison to both MBTA and NJT cars, those are definetely NJT Multi-level cars. The MBTA bi-levels have only one set of doors, at the end of the car.

  •  Well, the J units have finally arrived in Proctor, as there's what appears to be a J Ball hanging around the back of the diesel shops.

  • They could be getting ready to put straight air on the Js at Proctor. Remember, 5 of the 6 Js Proctor wanted are right nearby at Pokegama and Virginia. If I had to guess, it would be 660 sitting at Proctor since the other 4 have been working in pairs out of Pokegama. Speaking of that, CN installed helper link controls to 659, which will enable it to cut off trains while at speed. 674 is in Green Bay so if Proctor needed a 6th one, they have one not too far out of reach. From what I heard, Minntac may be coming back online soon and the T-birds may be running again within three weeks. Hopefully both are true so at least something can move up there other than the MRF.

  • Definately what Tyler said. Transit MultiLevels have been coming in for about three years and there are still many more to come. And AMT definately is getting some, making the total over 400 between NJT and AMT (currently, NJT has over 300 in service or on order). I wonder if AMT riders and conductors/TCs will hate them as much as NJT does!Tongue

    Also, I didn't know that the car bodies were assembled in Canada, shipped to somewhere, and then assembled and painted

    Not sure that it's 660, as this unit has the J Ball on the nose. After another pass by, they have a few of the side panels open, and a few guys working on it. Air was also heard, so I'd venture to guess they're indeed fitting the locomotive with straight air.

    Yep, the bodies are assembled just outside Quebec City, QC, then they head down to New York. (Danville, NY, if I remember correctly)
