Looks like you had an excellent railfanning trip yesterday, Alec.
I'm not sure if I have 6016, but I hope she comes up to Wausau some time!

not bad indeed. gotta love those SD60s.
you get excited about an SD40-2 trio? you should look at the pics i posted. it's normal around here. almost always the power on every train. no wonder you say it's a situation you'd love to be in.
at the price of having to go out to the yard at 2:00 AM to see this though. yes i do that frequently
Altoona has most-excellent power. SD40-2s and NS stuff. not terrible, but the lack of SD60s is saddening. and i'll take those over SD40-2s any day
Your friendly neighborhood CNW fan.
Well I went to Stevens point today, Boy it was some pretty bad railfanning for me. Not the ebst pictures with fences, snow blocking all my shots. Not to mention there was absoutly nothing there. Sigh, here's my shots.
WC 1571 switches the yard at Point.
CN SD75i 5974 sits on the engine tracks.
WC 1559 is at the other end of the yard.
I heard theidspacher give the warrent to CN A416 to enter point.
Here's GTW 5948 and IC 6070 basking in the sun.
On my way home I stop at Weston again to find some more BNSF power sitting there.
last I stop at the Wausau yard and find IC 6141 sitting in the yard.
Actually she is sitting in a VERY empty yard.

I sure do! [;D]
Yeah, I know they suck...grr...
Go here for my rail shots! http://www.railpictures.net/showphotos.php?userid=9296
Building the CPR Kootenay division in N scale, blog here: http://kootenaymodelrailway.wordpress.com/
Atmo, while I love all SD40-2 lashups too, these are much cooler. They are all original SD40s, one is ex Gulf Mobile & Ohio, the other is original IC, and the other is an original ICG SD40A. These are SD40s on the outside, and I like SD40s a lot more than SD40-2s. But that sounds like I dont like SD40-2s that much, which isnt true.
Alec
i never see those. that would sure be nice to see....well...i DID see one once...
way back in the day though
who are you all buying your locomotives from? i have been buying just about nothing but athearn. i like how they are swiching from metal handrails to plastic. much easyer to build.
P.S. Atmo... dude no one here is old enough for the "back in the day" stuff.
i am. CNW was my "day". and soon my new fanning life with the cool NS stuff will be another "day"
yes that includes C40-9Ws. i like them dammit

Alot has been from P2K. Well Ebay any way. I have bought a new locomotive, 2500 from Atlas.

Ture. I like my SD40-2s. Espicaly on the Valley sub where there's a Rainbow of a CN/IC repaint SD40-2, a IC SD40-2, and a WC GP40. That's the best consist I've seen in a while. Well Even better was a CN/IC repaint with WC 2500 in the middle and WC 2026 trailing. Other wise 2 SD40-2s are good.
Back in the day, like 1960s-1980s, almost EVERY mountain Railroad had SD45s. NW had there SD45s running long hood forward, which would off been an awesome site. BN still had there SD45s and F45s running. SP in the 70s and 80s had there SD45T-2s/SD40T-2s operating. Kodachrome's roamed the rails on SP and ATSF. DRGW had there Tunnel motors running and had some very scenic lines that are now abounded open. ATSF had many of there FP45s, F45s, SD45-2s, and SD45s running. Also many of the "old school" GEs where still kickin' it on many or the mountain RRs. Now that to me was "Back in the Day". What lucky Rail fans got the chance to go out on the mountains and get these beasts running at full swing are the lucky ones. Now with most of the classic EMDS off the rails, it just isn't the same. Where lucky to even see a tunnel motor, and now most of the SD45s gone, we must travel great distances to get them. But just like the Steam, it had to go some day.
Hey, any thing SD70 Spartan cab down has a place in my heart. Also some of the older GEs are pretty cool.

I'd disagree. Railroading here has changed a lot in the last 20 years. Went from cabooses, manned helpers, SD40-2s to pairs of AC4400s and a EOT on everything.

Their burble sounds kind of cool, but you have experienced something amazing when you hear a VO1000 run awwww in need to whip up the duel
Nice photos everyone, I got my fair share of photos the past two days as well, including another EJ&E shot.
Here is EJ&E 666 switching a chemical plant near Minooka.
Now onto railfanning the BNSF Chillicothe Sub. Note to viewers, there are a lot of BNSF Dash 9s included.
A BNSF GEVO passes under a classic ATSF signal bridge at the small town of Verona.
Another BNSF train passes a old grain elevator in Verona.
Yet another BNSF eastbound passes through, this one just east of Streator.
Now the westbounds show up, the first being a colorful consist with two H3 GEVOs, a fake warbonnet, and a CSX GEVO.
