i came accross my old rivossi "$1 special" and decided that id had enough with the old cruddy motor and drive train. instead of trashing a perfectly good GE u boat shell, i pulled the body off my athearn F7 and chopped 2 and a half (ish) inches out of the rivossi. a bit of dremel time, filing, and gluing, it fit perfectly over the athern chassi.(backwards-- the headlight couldnt get into the cab) i will eventually detail and repaint the rivossi shell, and it will be a perfectly good RTRbashed loco.

you can still see the crease, and the picture enhanses the tiny bit of distortion.
the story ill tell for the loco is that the Conecticut river valley railroad had a power shortage and acuired some GE units. the wheel base was too long, so they put them on the retired F series frames.
GEARHEAD426
[8]
