Hello WPYR221,
I've detailed my three-truck Bachmann Shay with parts from Cal-scale and
Evergreen Hill Designs
. EHD has a good selection of logging-related detail part, such as whip saws, axes, etc.
I weathered my Shay with chalks and the Weathering System of adhesive pigments from Bradgon Enterprises. I concentrated earth tones on the sides and trucks, and sooty colors on the stack, boiler and oil bunkers, and rusty colors atop the water bunker. I also installed a Soundtraxx decoder in it.
Hope this helps,
Paul Schmidt

Having just purchased Bachmann's Spectrum three truck Shay, I think it needs a few extra details or bits of stuff a logging loco would have. (even though the existing details are outstanding!) Also, can anyone help with weathering techniques for it? Thanks!
