MR had an article about a kitbash of a DPM building kit into a reasonable NYC tower.

As both a 'tower nut' and an NYC nut I thought I'd mention a recent kit offered by Yelton Models of Hamilton, Ontario of a 3D printed kit for NYC's iconic BE tower from Berea, Ohio.

I recently purchased one through Spring Creek Trains in Nebraska.

The stair railings are very fragile and mine were damaged in shipping but Yelton replaced the parts and all is good.

When I talked to the reps from Yelton Models when they were at the Berea train show in October, they had mentioned plans for making the QD or Quaker tower located in Collinwood, Ohio. I might have to find room for that on my layout, too.

Good Luck, Ed

Thank you.

That is what I had guessed but you need a subscription to read the article.  Since I am just curious as to how it looked I'll pass.

If nobody has a picture to post can you give a better clue as to the identity of the other magazine?

January 2020 Railroad Model Craftsman, article is titled "Freelanced Tower for East Buffalo." There are no rules against stating facts in this forum.

I don't need to read the article but I would be interested in seeing a picture of said building if anyone can post it.

Alas, the article appeared in that "other" model railroad magazine.

The kit used is a Cutting's Scissonr model.

Article in MR About Building an NYC Tower from a DPM Kit
Posted by danmerkel on Monday, September 25, 2023 10:09 PM

I could use a little help here. Some time ago, MR had an article about a kitbash of a DPM building kit into a reasonable NYC tower. As mentioned previously, I'm kind of a tower nut plus I like to kitbash so am thinking about this one to add to my collection. Problem is I can't remember when the article was published.

If someone could specifically help me with the month/year I'd appreciate it very much. If you happen to remember which DPM kit was used, that would even be more helpful. I share all of my past MRs with a younger enthusiast so I don't have them for back issue reference. :(

Thank you in advance.
