My attempt at scratch building n scale crossing signals.  Making these had one good result -- I learned how to program arduinos.  I had trouble with the light sensors to activate the signals.  If the room got a little dark, the crossing signals would activate with no train near.  I also had the alternating red lights go off and on too fast.  On the new layout, I'm going to use infrared sensors.  The scale was also off -- the pipe needed to be large enough to get the wires through, with the result that the pole was probably three feet thick.  Not a good picture, but it's the only one I have of the old layout:

The NYBW has a divided mainline to give the right hand track a gentler grade going uphill. Here the two mains begin to merge together again beyond the grade crossing.

How about a whole row of them.

All but one of the background houses is also a plastic kit as is the

A bit of both. The HOn30 covered bridge is a Campbell HO scale model that I narrowed and lowered to fit the narrow gauge track and trains

I used the Campbell instructions as a guide for a scratch built G scale covered bridge

Both are on the Bootbay Railway Village layout
