(Maybe Ulrich will see this?)

Hi Ed,

Ulrich won't see your post for a few days. Today is the day that he moves into his new digs in Zittau in southern Germany. He said he will be off line for a little while. I'll let you know how his move goes. Thus far all the preparations have gone fine.

Cheers!!

Dave

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!

'Morning Diners.  Flo, just coffee please.

Brent, I'm sorry to hear about your loss.  Even when expected, it's rarely easy.

Kevin,  I'm sorry to hear about Brandy.  Do know you had a very positive impact on her life.

As for me, Saturday afternoon I started sneezing what seemed like constantly.  My sinuses swelled up and here I sit with some sort of cold.  Basically just sinus congestion, but just bizarre how it started.  Of course, decongestants are a must but are making feel like a zombie.  Oh, and I have am facilitating a conference call with some corporate big wigs.  Hope this doesn't turn into a dumpster fire.

Good morning, everyone.

David, I saw a TV program about that railroad for hauling bodies to the cemetery.  Interesting.

I hope Ulrich's move goes well.

Everytime I think spring is near, we get hit again with winter.  This week, two separate snow days are predicted.

Good evening

I'm so sick of working heavy construction full-time again, It Sucks!  Certainly remember putting an end to this crap about 7 years ago and this recent reminder of why.... I'm tired all the time.

Been confronted about another one coming up in a few weeks and I'm putting my thinking cap onTongue Tied  I'm easily led and don't like to say no to a good thing.  Certainly like the part time handyman stuff better these days, but the bigger bid crap pays better though.

What are we doing again this month?  Strange or unusual Freight Cars?  Maybe loads on them count as well?

Anyone need a prefab bridge or several delivered?

What's in the Bag Baby?  Don't know, but your guess is as good as mine.  It ain't no short bus?  Images courtesy of Lionel Trains.

Judy had Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off, planned quite a while ago.  We were going to take an extended weekend get-a-way off to the brother-in-law and sister's place in Wisconsin.  All of a sudden, the hotel is ZOOED!  And she has to work Thursday and Friday nowCrying  But nobody ever said life was fair, did they?

Have a good night KidsSmile

So Lion, were you just going to throw that one to the Dogs, or was it a friendly gesture that my post was a little overdone the other night?

Either way, it looks about as appetizingly appealing as a dry desert.  Dessert, certainly not being a very good snack around here.

Do me a favor, and stick to the rare ones, as your prior presentation looked much more tasty, then the newly found shoe leather hockey puck thing going on there my brotherWink

Evenin' Folks!

Tommorrow has been canceled due to shoveling excercize.  Weather forcast for the beautiful Finger Lakes Area of NYS tomorrow...

"Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph"  Good day to sit inside, hope the electric stays on (although I will be just fine if it goes off as I have lots of stuff here for such things....), and just sit and watch some of the idiots out in it.

Most of the schools and other stuff has already closed the doors for tomorrow, but haven't seen anything from our local district yet...

Heres what we need!

Is this your problem???

Hey have a good warm night out there!

Some guys have all the fun.

Get this.  My brother-in-law just texted me a picture of this limited edition Mustang Cobra that just came into the dealership on consignment.

One of the potato farmers in Antigo Wisconsin had it as a collector car in his pole barn with all his other cars.

Only 12 were made and the car only has 128 miles on it just to keep the cogs turning.

It's worth $20,000.00 more than when it was sold new at 105,000.00.

Anyone in the market?

Show that picture to the Kid Brent, it can be deliveredWink

She says "Hi Sweetie" when he jumps on board, and he quacks at her.  He watches and knows where to get off.  We paid five bucks for every ride but the mallard rides for free.

Go figureLaugh

Morning Diners.  Flo, can I just get a pillow while I hang out here in the corner booth?

The call with the corporate big wigs went very well yesterday despite the brain fog the cold meds have put me in.  That's a big win.  Now I just need to get over this sinus infection so I can get back to feeling like me again.

Hope everyone is doing well.

    — AND back in the day when cars came in different COLORS! I remember being with my dad when he bought his first new car, a 1970 Torino wagon. The salesman brought out a book as thick as the New York phone directory.

Inside was all the color combinations (plus probably some wood grains too) and you had a choice of interior color combinations. What swell choices!

Certainly remember the days, riding down the road in those wood sided Wally Wagons tooLaugh  Ours was the Country Squire.

Good morning.  It's a cold morning for a walk.

David, those old passenger cars now serving as restaurants are neat.  In one of the videos, I thought the truck hauling the train car was going to bottom-out on the road.  The clearance had to be an inch or less.

TF, I know what you mean about work after you're used to having easier days.  After retirement, several times I have been called by the school system to see if I could help out.  I always found an excuse to say, "I'd like to, but I'm busy that day."

Ray, have fun with the snow, but keep it all there.  Ours is almost completely gone, but we're supposed to get some light snow tomorrow.

Mike, it's good to hear your conference went well.  Sounds like it would be a little nerve-wracking.

Ed, that's amazing that you could get any color combination on a new car.  Driving by new car lots today, everything looks pretty generic.  Same size, same shape, same color.  When I do see a car with an unusual paint color, it really stands out.

I have another one of the great 'unscheduled' days.  Nothing to do but work on the layout.

I hope everyone stays healthy and has a great day.

Wonder if this photo was taken near Detroit.

There must have been some arrangement to remove the body hanging partially out of the last car on the left at the unloading point.

Afternoon Folks!

I am sitting here at the 'puter printing the mailed copies of the Lakeshores Limited....  That is our NMRA Division Newsletter.  Most of the members get it by email but we still have a few (old life members) who get the snail mail version.

Looking out the window I see that the Nor'easter prediced has officially started here in the Finger Lakes.  Predicting wind gusts of 40mph and 6 to 10" of white stuff.  Lucky at the moment it is just blowing off to someplace else without it even hitting the ground....  Actually it is a very fine snow that will likely settle down to lots of drifts to dig out tomorrow.

Don't plan on visiting the Finger Lakes here in NYS now.  We're closed! DevilWhistling

Good Afternoon,

A nice, sunny day here but windy.

TF, liked the Vega photos. I bought one brand new in the spring of '71. Looked nice but was junk. When I picked it up in Oshawa I had to use 2 hands to get the 4 speed to shift. It did loosen up. Luckily I traded it in on a '73 Nova before any serious problems showed up other than a blown head gasket.

My parents bought a new'74 Montego Brougham. It was delivered in Oct/73. Had a 351 Windsor. At the time I thought the 351 Clevland was the better version. It was a great car they drove until '88. No rust at all as it had a very thorough rust proofing.

Time for something.

Hi Dick, Didn't even notice that while posting the photo, so blew it up.  You're right, what the heck is going on there?

Went back to the site to find the origin of photos for you, but wasn't stated.

Hey Charlie, yes those Vegas were mass produced and were pretty much, alot of them lemons.  Even worse than that, was the Plymouth Reliant K car years later, that was about the worst car ever manufactured.  The front wheel drive CV joints, even went bad shortly after you fixed them.

The Chevy Chevette wasn't any prize either.  Although, once in a while there was a survivor of any mass-produced lemon car.  Gave my old girlfriend Lavon an old cherry, Chevy Chevette for her birthday.  A 4-speed that had to be taught to her in parking lots, and that thing lasted like a champion.

Novas were cool.  Had a sister of one, the Pontiac Ventura, still a GM.  A 72 350 with a stick.  Bought it many years later than new.  Loved that car.
