Good Afternoon,
A blustery day here but at least the snow is light, fine powdery stuff.
Ed, I believe you have a lot of experience with Paragon 2 decoders. My GTW light mike is completely dead, only the headlight is on. I did a reset including the button in the tender but no luck. Any suggestions? I'm afraid the decoder is dead.
No plans for today. Hope those mice are staying out of the car's engine bay. The insurance co. wants photos of the damage. I sent them the video taken so hopes that will satisfy them.
Pizza day today. We are watching a re-run of Endeavour that goes great with pizza.
Think I'll watch Canadian Steam 1959, the last of the film shot by Maynard Laing on his trips to Manitoba, the last year for steam here.

Living the dream.
Good morning, everyone. Chloe, I'll have bacon, eggs, and coffee, please.
Snow and rain mixture this morning. The worst part about this is that I have to drag Daisy outside to go. She absolutely hates walking on the wet pavement.
Yesterday, the vet said that she will go quickly when the time comes. Not yet, but getting closer. She still is not in any pain or discomfort, so we will keep the status quo until things change. She is one spoiled dog, sitting beside me in my recliner. I think she sometimes wonders what I'm doing in her chair.
Kevin has inspired me to go out in the next several days and take some pictures of our town's buildings. If any turn out OK, I'll try to post a few.
The layout work today is to finish a siding on the mainline. When I first laid the mainline track, I put in the turnouts for the siding, but I never got around to put it in. I don't have enough rolling stock to even use the siding, but I know that will change in the next years.
Have a good Saturday, everyone.

Help yourself to some of the best Barbeque in South Florida!
We went to Orlando to visit our baby-baby yesterday. We took the most rural path we could there and back. Each way was about 4 1/2 hours, but we drove on roads we had never been on before.
We did not see any wildlife, which was unexpected.
York1With all the pictures of old buildings, I need to take some photos of our town's old buildings.
I wish I would have taken the time to photograph the downtowns of Punta Gorda and Arcadia, Florida twenty years ago.
Now both towns have had their downtowns fully redeveloped, and all that are left are the old trains stations which have been horribly repurposed as office spaces.
The Art-Deco single screen theater in downtown Clewiston, Florida is another gem I missed. It has been refurbished as a dentist office, and it is awful.

Evenin' folks!
Another beautiful day here in the Finger Lakes Region of NYS. We have "partly cloudy" falling out of the sky along with something they are calling Freezing Fog. We should get about 4" to 8" of whatever it is by tomorrow morning to shovel off the driveway. Right now it is that interesting "Winter Wonderland" effect on everything. And, "Since we've no place to go.... Let it Snow, Let it Snow. Let it Snow!"

Happy Belated Birthday, Mr. B.
Happy Birthday, David. Hope both of you had wonderful days.
Just got back from my optometrist; got a new contact on my left eye; I am seeing 20/25; which is much better than the 20/70 previously. My other eye doctor says my right eye should be correctable in three or four weeks. Yeah!
My wife might even let me drive by myself to Garden City for the train show this weekend....
Happy Birthday David!
May get a snowstorm tomorrow, depends on how it tracks.
Have decided that if no joy from BLI on the decoder I will replace it. I have a TCS motor decoder and a seperate sound decoder I can hardwire. I just have to figure out the wiring harness as all wires are black.
I put the car in the garage. Hope those pepermint oil canisters work.

Good morning, diners. Bacon, eggs, and black coffee, Chloe.
With all the pictures of old buildings, I need to take some photos of our town's old buildings. Many years back, some of the buildings got new facades covering the old, ornate fronts. Now, the new thing is to remove the 1950s facades and restore the original fronts. Some of them look very neat. Of course, it costs a lot of money for some small town merchants who are barely getting by.
Took the Expedition for some work. I knew the front struts needed replacing, but I wasn't prepared for the other front suspension work. It will cost quite a bit, but it' a lot cheaper than a new car. Right now it sits at 125,000 miles, so I hope I can double that. That should get me close to nursing home time when I won't need a car anyway.
I hope everyone has a great day.
Good morning everyone. I need a big cup of black coffee this morning Chloe, and a whole plate of bacon!
JaBearKevin if you have the time and the inclination, would you mind taking and posting a photo of the underneath of this hopper car.
Sorry, I cannot get to it rightnow, and I do not already have a photograph of the under-view.
Good afternoon Diners. A large coffee and some cherry pie please, Janie.
Snow and more snow this weekend. Just like it was 76 years ago.
Thanks Mike.
Dave. Camping Coaches were popular in the 1950s/1960s. Now they are run by private individuals, off the railway tracks.

Hi David,
I didn't know that camping coaches existed. Thanks for that.
The Group of Seven Canadian artists did a similar thing in order to get into the interior of northern Ontario, but it was on a much less sophisicated level. They would rent a plain boxcar and have it parked on a siding of the Algoma Central Railway in the wilderness north of Sault St. Marie. They would spend several weeks canoeing on the vast number of lakes and rivers in order to find suitable scenes. They often stayed well into the fall.
Cheers!!
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!

Kevin, that lawn looks great. Even watering and fertilizing, we can't get lawns to look like that up here. And I really miss palm trees.
Nice lawn. I had to mow my backyard, which gets all day sun, yesterday. In town, the Bradford Pears and Cherry trees are blooming. The vineyards and apple orchards don't want blooms because our Frost Free Day isn't until isn't until April 28th.
I spent most of the day downloading and printing 1099's and filling out a form my accountant sends me. I am not finished. When I get that done, I can return to the model railroad.

Happy Birthday Mister B!
Picked up my BLI mike I had at the LHS as they said it ran poorly. It ran great before I took it in to sell. It doesn't run at all now. I did a reset of the Paragon 2 decoder but no joy. I wonder if BLI sells replacement boards. I could remove it and send it to them. Guess I will call them tomorrow. Very annoying. The owner of the shop doesn't like BLI locos as she has had problems with them.
Expecting a big snow on Saturday.
I did get some cleanup done in the garage.
York1I'm glad to see your lawn is green, Brent. My lawn was brown yesterday, and today it's white.

For sure Mike, glad you enjoyed it, have always really liked that one too.
Happy birthday Mister B. Hope you had a good one
And a proper Scottish Birthday salute to ya as well
Got the hot mud on the walls upstairs today, and tomorrow the mudding should be finished with the top coating. No reason to sand anymore as the final coat is pulled tight and feathered thin.
Finally a light at the end of the tunnel, a couple of doors and some trim and I'm out of there
Have a good night fellas.
