Hi Everyone,
Well, it looks like the pictures didn't post. I either forgot to imbed them or goofed it some other way. I know you guys hav explained how to do it, but I don't seem to have much success. I do virtually all of my posting through my iPad and Flickr doesn't work on that platform because I can't get a BB code on it. I have to go back to my old PC. I'll try it again in the next day or so. Sorry for the goof up.
Edit: Top o'the page. A steak taco dinner with a gallon size reposado margarita on me. Or, if that doesn't cut it, your choice!

Attuvian1Doesn't Microscale or anyone make a giant block "S" in white? In my day the first question asked upon seeing one of these in a dorm room was, "How many six-packs does it hold?"
Tin Can, a friend at work gave me a peach off one of his trees last week, but didn't warn me how juicy they were. I had a large puddle of peach juice on the floor by the time I got done with it. It was great, but what a sticky mess.

Just dropping by for a second; still at work, just finished a very successful board committee meeting.
Mike, I don't know the hows and whys, but we have a fruit vendor that comes to Dodge City from Colorado every summer; they have been here the two of the last three week ends, and they have the best peaches. We have gone through two 18 lb. boxes of peaches. My wife is supposed to be making me a peach pie tonight; I can't wait to get home.
maxman Was watching an episode of the Amazon series League of Their Own last night. Was okay until they had a shot of a string of enclosed auto racks going by in the distance. Didn't know they had them in 1943.

Evening everybody. Flo, I'll have a sweet iced tea and a slice of peach pie please.
Got the mini fridge I've been working on for my daughter back together tonight. I'm happy with how it turned out. Just don't look too closely at the condition it's in. This thing has to be over 30 years old. You would never know it was entirely chocolate brown before. Perfect for her MSU dorm!
Got a whole lot of nothing pressing on the docket for tonight. Perfect.
Have a good evening everyone.
Musta entered the twilight zone!!!

Good afternoon, everyone. I won't have any trouble getting the waitresses' attention today, the diner is almost empty.
For some reason, we are being blessed with almost perfect weather. Normally, August is a hot and humid month on the prairie. However, the past week or so, we are having mild temperatures, and to top everything off, we got 1½ inches of rain. It was a pleasure to take my morning hike.
Jim, your photos of shortlines sound interesting, but for some reason I was unable to open them. I kept getting a "404" screen. It might be my computer issues.
David, have fun with your granddaughters! I know what you mean about the layout damage. When my young grandchildren visit, I usually have multiple derailments, trees down, etc. I guess I can always say it's the morning after a bad storm. When I make a mess of things, I get mad at myself. When the granddaughters make a mess of things, I don't seem to mind at all.
Attuvian1I've been frustrated for two weeks expecting that Brother Elias was going to be constantly posting pictures and quips about short LIONS.
That's such a good one, and I'm upset I didn't think of it first!
Kevin, I'm always impressed with your photography -- both of the railroads and of the American scenery. You have a real eye for getting the good photos.
I hope everyone facing health issues has some relief. I also hope we can get the diner filled back up with patrons.

Good Morning Diners. Flo, an order of whole wheat toast and black coffee in a UTLX tank car please. Second night in a row of really poor sleep and I'm feeling it. Not sure why I'm not sleeping, but I go through episodes like this seems like a couple times a year. Wasn't loaded up with caffeine, on any devices before bed (tv/phone/etc), not stressing out about anything, was plenty active yesterday. Just happens every so often. I blame years of shift work, even if I haven't worked a swing shift in 10 years. It's the best excuse I have.

Had a great day at work today. Not sure what was going on, but everybody seemed to be in a very good mood. My coworkers, supervisors, and even all the customers. Everybody was just getting along and being very happy.
What a way for us all to be... very nice.

Living the dream.
The granddaughters' have been in the train room. We must have ghosts. Funny how some scenery has broken. Two girls plead innocent.
Good morning. It was a noisy night last night -- lots of thunder. One sounded like it hit a short distance from our street.
My wife is after me to get out and cut another tree. I'm dragging my feet. Maybe the chainsaw won't start!
SeeYou190I have been sleeping 9-10 hours a night for the past several days. I have been waking up feeling absolutely fantastic. I hope this keeps up.
It's funny how different people need different amounts of sleep. My wife sleeps 10 - 12 hours, while I sleep about six hours. I get up when I wake up, while she will turn over and sleep another three or four hours.
Hope everyone has a good day today.
Good morning everyone.
I am sure this has been posted before, but I just ran across this cover from a Steven King book.
Brunhilda, coffee with cream, please.
Since August is short line month, I scoured my brain to think if I had any shortline pics. Turns out just a couple.

There is a little industrial short line kind of like the LAJ but in Elk Grove, IL. It serves the industries in the area with a yard and feed from the UP (former C&NW) tracks by O'Hare. As near as I know they only have one locomotive, a rebuilt GP7, and I think they make a majority of their revenue by storing cars.

I am such an idiot. Middle of the month and I've been frustrated for two weeks expecting that Brother Elias was going to be constantly posting pictures and quips about short LIONS. Well, as Emily Litella (Gilda Radner) often offered on Laugh In, "I'm sorry; never mind."

Most likely a moderator approved a post that inserted on the previous page. That bumps everything up.

It's lunch time here, but it will be breakfast time for Bear in a short while. Since breakfast is the best meal of the day, and since breakfast foods are good any time of the day, get your breakfast food anytime you want -- I'm paying.
A dining car breakfast when dressing for breakfast was expected:
York1Here, an inch of rain is what we would expect. In New Orleans, an inch of rain was just a damp day.
When I used to spend time in Indiana for work, I would be surprised when someone would say "We might see UP TO an inch of rain today".
We expect AT LEAST an inch down here if the sky gets cloudy!
Hope everyone is doing well!
The Georgia & Florida Railway operates 297 miles of different rail lines in Southern Georgia and Northern Florida. It was estalished in 2005 and is owned by Omnitrax.
The line from Adel Georgia to Perry/Foley Florida recently received a 17 million dollar upgrade. The line serves a large Georgia-Pacific cellulose plant in Foley FL.
The railroad uses ex-CN GP40-2Ws, with their snow shields over the grilles still intact, LOL. Maybe the shade cools the Georgia/Florida air.......
Atlas makes an HO Scale model of this locomotive.
In fact, they make a model of York1's DMVW GP40-2W posted on the previous page:

A large stretch of the highways up to Bemidji and back where railroads along the road. Good scenery along the way with the pine trees.
Haven't seen the Northern Plains Railroad up here yet but thanks for sharing John. I will have to keep my eyes open while traveling around.
Wouldn't you know it! Babe and Paul Bunyan were caged off under restoration. Another reminder how old we are getting Maybe they can work on me next as I could use a little restoration as well In more ways than one
Judy asked me to do the voice of Babe the Blue Ox wishing her a Happy Birthday and I obliged her. She laughed and was still able to make fun out of a good thing.
