John (York1):  We are dealing with a similar fence problem.  The 90 mph winds in November snapped two 4 x 4 posts. Between weather, work, and my eye surgery; I still haven't completed repairs.  The fix will entail placing metal poles half way between the broken 4 x 4's.  Have run into a big problem digging new postholes in that there are lots and lots of roots 4 to 12 inches down.  I am using a battery powered sawsall to cut through roots, but it is an extremely slow process.

Currently the fence is propped up by the four new metal poles; it has survived 45 mph winds the last week.

Hey, Brent - I seem to recall a long-standing tradition that cigars were passed out to friends for each of the little ones.  You may have to hit up an investment or two to cover it.  Laugh Smile, Wink & Grin Laugh

Nice, Brent.  Thanks!  And when it's empty, perhaps you can use that spiffy box for a Rivet Counter car or two!

BATMAN

Seven here, but we have eight, not done yet.

Fun, ...Mama looks tired, I would sappose so.

Nothing better than a bunch of puppies to make ya happy.  Make sure you update when they get even more cute and fluffy if you would please.  I always liked a golden retriever pup in his favorite color bandana.

Good afternoon Diners.  I am back from having my 4th Covid jab.

SoapBox     Sometimes I think the people in charge like to make things as difficult as possible.

On my way to   the centerI had to pass six places where I could have had the jab.

Other people there had travelled even further.

Then we had people travelling the other way to the centres near where I live.

Good morning from a sunny left coast.

Day two on the puppy front, all survived and all healthy, I guess having a Veterinarian as your owner helps. Ended up with nine.

David, I have to give the Government full marks for the way the vaccine program is run here. We just go online and book a time and place and the type of vaccine we prefer and away you go. I have not waited in a line yet and was out in no time.

Only got 2 1/2 hours of sleep last night but feel pretty good, but then again I can go for long periods without any sleep so I guess that is normal for me.

I think I am going to go car shopping, I need to get out of the house, my daughter may need a car if she stays with us this summer while she works. We bought my son a car when he started the movie work while he was still in high school. Bus service is not an option where we are so I feel obligated to supply them with transportation. There are still stock shortages on the lots but a Mazda 3 or Rav 4 are the choices it seems. I still have to see if she ends up in Ottawa with the Feds for the summer, then I am off the hook.

We sold our trailer a couple or three years ago as it was getting on, the truck is 23 in September and we still have it. The wife likes doing the dog show thing with an RV and our plan was to buy something new but then covid hit and the dog shows stopped. So now things are up and running again she wants another RV which means a new tow vehicle as the old truck is just not up to the haul over the Rockies. We are thinking Hybrid Expedition.

Our old truck has the 7.3ltr diesel and could haul that 7000lb trailer up and over mountain ranges without even thinking of slowing down. Apparently, the new hybrids are mega tow vehicles with big torque and big horsepower. I must be getting old because it doesn't really excite me anymore. Getting wife set up is what it is all about.

All the best to all.

It has been over seven years since I sold my RV. I do not have a single picture of it, and I did not enjoy it very much. It was my "gift" to myself when my youngest was becoming independent. I should have built the train room then instead.

Bad decision to purchase that thing.

I sold it for only $10,000.00 less than I paid for it, which was not bad, but if you factor in tires, maintenance, fuel, repairs, insurance, and storage, it was a substantial expense with very little return of fun.

Renting a car and staying in hotels is better, more convenient, and less expensive for long road tripping to see the country.

Brent:

Mama looks happy, and relieved.

I got my first Moderna vax in the spring of 2021.  The booster in September 2021.  That's it.  My wife registered us online both times, which gave us the place and the time.  Both were administered in a church parking lot.  Drive through service.  The nice ladies had my name on a list on a clipboard they must have printed from the registration site.  I gave my ID ...and vax card for the booster...stuck out my left arm...and then was told to park "over there" for 15 minutes in case I had any type of reaction.

No lines...no crowds, maybe one car in front like a typical drive through.

I simply don't understand the other methods there were/are to getting the vax, and why aren't they all just as simple as that.

Kevin:

I spent 27 years traveling for work by car and staying in motels.  I guess its what I understand.  For me, its the only way to do it.  Just more freedom and nimbleness, at least I feel that way.  No special assets needed for traveling, just a credit card and a few suitcases.  I guess its best to always end the day within one hour from the motel, can't be everywhere.

Same here. I worked on those fancy Class-As for years, and wanted one for my own. The opportunity was there, and I took it.

It did not take long for me to realise it was not for me.

You said it well, cars and hotels provide freedom and nimbleness.

Good to see you in the diner.

My county health service here in Ohio was just as well setup. Made appointments on line. Filled out the questionaire and printed it out so all we had to do was pass it to the check-in person. Our site was the county fairgrounds where there was plenty of room and all we had to do was follow the signs.

In and out in well under a half hour even staying the entire fifteen minute observation period. Our third booster was similarly setup on line and we simply went to the pharmacy (chemist) at a local drug store. Less than fifteen minutes there. Very minor side effects if at all.

I hear ya big time. For me, it was a fast car and nice hotels or resorts. The only reason for the RV now is to mostly attend dog shows. It is not so convenient to check into the Hilton with four Golden Retrievers in tow and the show grounds are generally out of town in the boonies as well. Even when the show is a ten-minute drive away I take the trailer to the show grounds and she stays there for the 3 or 4 days the show is on. It is a major social event.Tongue TiedIndifferentLaugh

I did many long road trips with either a girlfriend or a buddy in this car and loved it. I remember getting pulled over by the California Highway Patrol North of LA once. He said, we usually are pretty laid back on the speed enforcement out here when the highway is empty but 153MPH is just a little too fast. By the way, I love your license plate frame.Laugh

I had this car for 14 years.

My experiences were quite similar. We filled out the forms online, went to the site set up in the old airport terminal, and were in and out super fast and easy.

The boosters were in the old Sears store, and equally easily done.

Evening

My Son has been delayed here on his way back from Vegas to Bismarck, North Dakota since Tuesday.  A while ago they boarded the plane only to get back off again.  Too windy to de-ice the plane.  Their flight has been canceled again.
