Where I grew up there was a little Cities Service gas station at a street corner. Walked past it every day going to school. Just one of those things that sticks with you.

Okay, it's been a while. When I was a kid it was B/A oil. Dad filled the car there and our good friend owned a B/A service station and fixed our car(s) I have an affinity for anything B/A oil and these propane cars are way past my timeline. I heard that Atlas made 6#s and I kept my eye out for all six. I paid between $20.00 and $40.00 each to collect them all. The last one I got, I spotted at a train show from a distance and as I walked towards it I pulled my list of #s from my wallet, and sure enough, it was the one I did not have. That was the $40.00 one.Laugh

Another oil company car please.

A 'must have'  railroad item  even though it is out of timescale. area or whatever.

There are a few.

This load of brand new 1955 Buicks is one. I model August, 1954, so the time is too old for this automobile's presence. The new model year would have come out in September, 1954, so MAYBE it is semi-plausible that they might have been in shipment.

However, I loved the car models, and I always wanted one of these Athearn "car carrier" train cars. So I had to have it.

I like this topic. How about another "must have" railroad item that is in your collection even though it is out of time period, scale, geographical area, or whatever.

Jump right in! ...This is a friendly welcoming area about sharing pictures, please do not think there is a minimum level necessary for participation.

Well, thank you Kevin. Since you insist. Here's a House

It's a boathouse, but it's still a house. When I was about 15, my friend and I got in a rowboat and rowed up the bay from his home on Bainbridge Island, and while he held the boat against the tidal current I sketched this boathouse, which really existed and may still to this day. Then we went back to his house and we each made one from scratch using my drawing. It's probably the best scratch-built thing I ever made, though it was never really finished and it's propped up on a pencil because it's meant to go on a sloped beach. I'll fit it into the Priest River scene someday.

Returning to model railroading after 40 years and taking unconscionable liberties with the SP&S, Northern Pacific and Great Northern roads in the '40s and '50s.

This is the funnest thing EVER! I have really enjoyed this tag-style game. I'm not yet at the point where my layout looks like much, so I'll not post a photo.

Jump right in!

A few years ago, there was a regular contributor to SHOW ME SOMETHING named James Counts. His layout was simply plywood covered in green felt with Bachmann EZ Track.

He shared pictures, and was welcomed by all. I miss his posts. SHOW ME SOMETHING was just about the only thread he ever posted in.

This is a friendly welcoming area about sharing pictures, please do not think there is a minimum level necessary for participation.

More heralds and emblems, please.

I am quite fond of this one... I like it so much that I use it as my avatar!

Very few private custom roadnames have multi-color heralds. When I finally decided to get one made for the SGRR I went all-out with four colors!

My first set of decals for the SGRR was in 1982. I finally ordered heralds in 2016!

Are there any more favorite heralds and emblems...

Anymore memorable images?

This is kind of memorable and interesting. This is a picture is of my only piece of STRATTON AND GILLETTE equipment that I did not paint. It must have been painted and decorated by someone I made a decal trade with. It popped up for sale on eBay, and I grabbed it. I wish I knew the story about exactly where it came from. I would love to see more of what people did with all the SGRR decals I traded away back in the day.

Edmund asked "more memorable photos, please"

One of my early layout, on the floor. I wonder how much ''fiber tie'' flex track I had used before I discovered plastic tie flex track? Aha, to the left of the base of that black pole light I see two Aurora yellow slot car throttles that I used to control trains. I installed a brass screw in the yellow body that would "drag" on the trigger to keep the trigger at a set speed.
