Download magazine issue from trains.com onto iPad.

I've been able to download the June issue of MR on my PC by using the odd "vertical bar" icon at the bottom of the reader. But I usually use my iPad to read the magazine.

How do I download the magazine on my iPad? I tried the same icon, but while it turned grey, nothing seemed to happen. I then tried to tap and hold the icon. It turned grey, and a blue dot appeared next to the icon, and also on the right of the tool bar. But still, nothing happened. Is this a bug, or am I missing something? How about a tutorial video from the MR staff, or at least some help documentation.

For downloading 'the other magazine', I have used the page with the up arrow, then "Copy to (desired PDF Reader.)"

For MR this does work, but requires a seperate app, such as "PDF Expert" to open the saved file. (Othres that are free will allow you to do this same thing.)

It may just be easier to read online if available.

Zinio let us download and read later from our device anywhere... Even if there was no interenet available when we were reading it. This would still be a very much appreciated feature.

ALSO -

A "How-to" for all of us ex-Zinio folks would have been appreciated.... As would have an announcement of the change... (I only found out it changed when I emailed customer service, and Zinio, about a missing issue....)

I get the desire to streamline, and the need to do so, but keeping those of us who used Zinio to access our paid for issues "in the loop" was a requirement that seems to have been overlooked....

I'VE WORKED IT OUT!

I've figured out how to download the PDF.

  • Go to the archive.
  • Click on the "share" icon (the box with the up arrow), and click on "request desktop site".
  • Now you have another option on the tool bar: a copy icon (two overlapping pages).
  • click on this and the PDF loads, and you'll see the "open in" link at the bottom of the browser page.
  • select your favourite reader (I use SideBooks) and go from there.

A tutorial of some sort would be MOST helpful, and probably relieve some of the negative feelings we see here.
