Aye —

I could listen all day...

And don't ya' know, I get the top-O-the page. An omen of good luck in Scottish tradition.

Haggis all 'round!

 haggis_yum by Edmund, on Flickr

And a dram or two of Oban eighteen-year old single malt.

Cheers, Ed

Ed: I will share in the 18 year old Scotch, but I believe I will pass on the Haggis.

Ick!

We had some excitement today. Out letter carrier had a brand new mail truck. It was not one of those weird ugly ones with the huge windshield I have seen on the news. This one looked like a right-hand-drive Chrysler Mini-Van.

I textured the walls in the dining room today. It took about five hours to put up all the masking paper, and about 1 hours to actually spray the texture.

The painters are all done with the primer coat. The paint will go on the walls tomorrow! I am so excited.

This is the paint I bought. I think I got what people here told me was the best.

Haggis has always intrigued me. It is apparently a good cold weather comfort food given the average temperature in Scotland. Either that or the Scots insist on eating it because they are a stubborn bunch of masochists. (Is that word allowed on the forums?). Do they serve it with gravy? I think I'd have to at least have some gravy.Smile, Wink & GrinLaughLaughDinnerHmm

Absolutely no disrespect intended to our Scottish members!!

Cheers!!

Good morning all.   A cold day with snow forecast later.

Janie has the Haggis, Neeps 'n' Tatties  on the menu for lunch.   "A splash of whisky has been added,"  she says.   A gravy boat so you can have as much you like.

Today we are near Gretna Green.   It has to be mentioned of The Quintinshill Rail Disaster.   I shall say no more.  You can look it up (if interested).

On with  the show.

At Kilmaurs  then Kilmarnock.   See the weathering on the Colas engine. Thumbs Up

Then over to Beattock Summit  on the West Coast Main Line,  ex-Caledonian Railway line south towards England.

Our journey leaves the  South West of Scotland  and heads over to the east side.  The land of the former North British Railway.   Most of the railways around the Borders have long gone thanks to the Beeching cuts.

A film of the Border Region as it is now.  Enjoy.

I don’t think that the Prototype Police will be paying a visit, Dave, as I see that TH&B bought 4 lots of those covered hoppers, the first two with 6 roof hatches, the last two with 8 roof hatches.

Does anybody else have problems logging into Flickr this morning? .... It says invalid password. I follow instructions to change it. Try logging in again, and it still says invalid password. I'm disliking technology now.

David UK .... I watched the Glasgow station video. Very interesting. It looks like there are more videos now.

Good morning, everyone.  It's a beautiful day out -- a perfect spring day.

During this spring cool weather, I'm going to be changing out the lights in the kitchen.  Right now there are two switches for the lights.  In order to have all the lights on, you have to flip the switches which are on opposite sides of the room.  My wife has always wanted all six lights on one switch.

To do the wiring, I will need to get into the attic.  That means I need to do it now while it is still fairly cool.  By summer, even in the early morning, the attic is too hot to work in.  This will be a good chance to change all of them to LEDs.

I'll get some layout time this afternoon.

My wife has always wanted all six lights on one switch.

This is funny. It takes four switches to turn on all the lights in my kitchen. The under cabinets, center, over the sink, and over the refrigerator lights are all on seperate switches.

Before the remodel, they were all on one switch, but my wife did not like it that way.

Too late, I finished the kitchen back in 2018. There are a total of seven swicthes in my kitchen now.

Four four lighting, one for the disposal unit, one on a dedicated outlet for the popcorn popper, and one for the ceiling fan.

David, if no one told me what haggis was, I would probably eat it and like it.

Now that I know what it is, I think I will pass.

I love eating sausages and hot dogs, and people always tell me if I knew what was in them, I wouldn't want them.

I'm 69 years old and I still love doing Easter eggs.  Mine never look as good as TF and Judy's, but they are fun to do.

My wife and I just got back from the movie theater -- the first movie theater trip in over a year!

It has been a very quiet day today. I managed to get all the trim boards installed in the dining room today. Tomorrow I will put on a coat of primer.

Good morning, everyone.

Normally, we would be in Texas visiting kids, but since we saw them just last week, we're home.  We have some relatives from Arizona coming the next several days, so I imagine today will be another cleaning day.

David, it seems like England embraces railroad preservation better than anywhere else in the world.  You have some great opportunities to experience old rail cars and stations that we don't in North America.

Yesterday, a local business hired a helicopter to drop 10,000 plastic and candy Easter eggs onto a local farm, and then the town's kids were set loose.  I wanted to help find them, but for some reason they said I was too old.  Maybe it's the bald head.  I don't think anyone counted how many eggs were picked up, so there may be a few still out there to be found.

Happy Easter, everyone.

Good morning and Happy Easter everyone

Thanks for the continued good hosting DavidYes

Looks like I got some eggnowledgement this morningLaugh  John, I'm sure you and the wife's eggs turned out just as good as ours.  It's all about having fun as Dave mentioned.  You're braver than we are going to see a movie already!  What movie did you see and how was it?  And I would go on that Easter egg hunt as there just has to be a few left from 10,000 dropped.

Kevin, I'm sure you'll be glad to bury the pink on the outside of the house.  You sure have been working hard on everything and I can appreciate your great achievements from your posts.

Judy and I got all our food prep done last night so we can just relax today.  All we have to do is warm up the food when it's time.

Last night we were watching Tim the Toolman Taylor.  I found it rather ironic that we are in Scotland this month and here is a few clips from the episode they played.

Right before Tim decided to throw the caber through All's Wally WagonLaugh

Me too! The dining room should be done on Tuesday. Then there are just two rooms to go, the living room and the master bedroom.

Then... on to the TRAIN ROOM and STRATTON AND GILLETTE layout number six!

As of right now, all the pink is gone! It is not fully painted yet, but the primer is on everywhere. The painters said they should be done on Wednesday, then I get to start putting up the stone ledgers.

John.   The closure of The Waverley Line was a great travesty.   The number of towns that lost their railway  was huge.   Fortunately after 50 years the error is being righted.  Slowly, but surely.

We made Sherry Trifle today.  Most of it has been eaten, so must be good.  Thumbs Up
