Flo, give the gang and I a please and Dirk and Robbie a dog treat.
Had our first semi real snow fall? Yep, we got a whole 3" of the white stuff. We had a Winter Storm Alet, for a whole 3"? Now 12" would be a diffrent matter where we live, where Post Hog lives it would be it snowed yesterday.
Took Dirk to the park and I was not the only idot out there walking there Dog Master. When it is 29 degrees bagging fresh bag of doggie droppings will warm up your hand.
Later, Ken and Dirk says Woof, Woof!

Good to hear from you, Ken!
Kevin, I remember where I saw that Art Deco-style pattern. In the lobby of the Empire State Building!

The main lobby has even more but I don't have a decent photo of that.

It was John. It was a Tom Sawyer World down there when my life gelled with my Friends.
When I go back and visit in the spring it's a good thing I'm alone and no one sees my facial expressions change while the memories flash through my head or they would think I was completely bonkers I just stop, stand and stare for a while because some of the memories take a while to process again.
I could sit down with you in the morning over coffee. It would probably take till dinner time to tell you all the stories and you would still be missing quite a few of them.
Yes the memories
TF
There was good memories and there was bad memories down there.
The good memories of course were great. But I still drive by my childhood friend Ronny's house when I go visit The Trestle and wonder whatever became of him.
He was a Chinese immigrant that just came to the States and spoke English semi-fluently. His English got way better, way quick as he hung out with me and my friends a lot. He got quicker with the slang
His mom loved me and often I was invited over to his house on the weekend for lunch. As I remember his mom didn't speak English and Ronny interpreted.
Americans eat a sandwich for lunch. I never didn't go to Ronny's house for lunch. I would break other plans because his mom could cook Oriental Cuisine that I never ate before That food was way good and there was never anyting left on the stove when I got done eating.
One Saturday afternoon the train stopped on the Steep Bluff behind his little house not far from the approach of The Trestle. A quarter mile from there was Dead Man's Hill. But that is another story for another time. We both climbed up the steep incline and put pennies on the rail. I was in the middle of the wheels positioning mine. Ronny was putting his right by the wheel. Just then the train moved forward and the tip of his pointer finger got pinched off. It didn't bleed for what seemed like an eternity but then all of a sudden it did.
I put my arm around Ronny's shoulder and pinched his pointer finger between my thumb and index finger hard and brought him to the house.
His mom was already in the backyard like she knew something was wrong and we all went to the hospital.
That wasn't the worst memory down there but most of the memories were good.

I have been there too!
I have 90 pieces of that tile in the trunk of my car. Hopefully the wedges will arrive tomorrow from Amazon, and I can get it installed.
I just took the trash can down to the street for pick up. It is cold outside. I almost went back inside to get some long pants, but endured through it instead in my gym shorts.
I would say The World Is A Beautiful Place right here, but Imgur is still not working for me.

But it makes a beautiful scene. Don't break down, though!
Speaking of name trains we've missed, there's the Phoebe Snow. Phoebe herself was an advertising symbol, dreamt up to promote the clean-burning anthracite coal on her railroad. She wore a white gown to promote the cleaner air on the train.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

I didn't realize earlier that I was at the top of the page. A nightcap is on me. It looks like we've got a supply of scotch in the diner if that's what you want. I'll just have a beer.
York1 It looks like we've got a supply of scotch in the diner if that's what you want.
I will have a scotch, in a small glass with two cubes of ice.
Thank you John.
Good evening, everybody.
Ed.... Both Phoebe Snows are beautiful. LOL about the log of honey.
Bear .... LOL at your beartoon.
Regarding Texas and trains, the Texas Special was a nice train connecting St. Louis (across the river from Ken) with Texas.

Scotch on the rocks Kevin?, interesting. Most drink it neat. To each their own though.
Being a Scotsman I really miss the flavor.
I gave up hard alcohol completely about two years ago. I still like some beers occasionally. Amstel Light is only 3.5% alcohol. I really like that beer because I never get Jacked and I always feel well in the morning over coffee.
Oh..... I miss the scotch though. My Grandfather liked it too
Track fiddlerI gave up hard alcohol completely about two years ago.
I did too, except it was about 30 years ago. The only exception has been some margaritas at a Mexican restaurant near here.

You're a card John. I'm really beginning to like you
Judy and I have a Mexican restaurant that has exquisite food, walking distance from our condo.
Honestly, I have to admit within those two years of mine there was an occasional margarita

Sometimes I like it cold with the ice watering it down just a bit.
Good morning all. Rain and more rain today.
Phoebe Snow reminds me of when we had cats.
A glass of scotch. No ice. No water. Thanks.
Ken. Glad to hear from you.
Bear. At his best.
The Consett Iron Company wagons have arrived for the railway.

Are we all ready to cross the Rio Grande? Papers in order?
Today we board the National Railways of Mexico for an overnight train to Mexico City. We leave Ciudad at 1:30 this afternoon for a 9:30 AM arrival in Mexico City. Much of the equipment should look familiar as it is cast-offs from the USA railroads but still quite servicable.

Good Morning All,
7F this morning with a light dusting falling last night. Just a regular to go please Zoe. Ed Murphy would be proud Ed. NdeM was his favourite. Ciao, J.R.
Good morning
Up too late last night and in return up to late this morning. We had to do the scramble this morning to get Judy to w**k on time. People depend on her dontcha know.
Tired today. My biological clock says I need to hit the rack at 11:00 PM. When I don't, it screws me up. I'm screwed up enough as it is without adding to it
Oh good, the coffee beeped. I think I'll make some lefse with butter and brown sugar this morning. Later I have to start tackling that bridge again.
Have a great day gentleman

My brother-in-law and me at the Cow Hotel. Judy insisted we stay at the Cow Hotel because it was Kelly's favorite animal. Kelly had cow trinkets all over her house.
My brother-in-law Steve is the Ford Master Mechanic Senior Tech that rebuilt and Bossed my 69 351 Mach 1 engine in trade for some carpentry work done on his house in Wisconsin.
That car stayed up there for 7 years in Steve's shop. It was a nice place to go every other weekend to finish the final restoration. During that time he didn't mind that I left it there
Howdy.
Bear ..... Thanks for the videos. The one with a tuba player with a band reminds me of my high school days when I was a tuba player. Fun times, but I was not very talented.
Ed .... I really like the N de M photos. Interesting old equipment. I've seen publicity of the Copper Canyon train before, and I think it would be a fun train ride.
TF ..... Your BIL, Steve, is apparently a good person to have in your family. I've not heard of the Cow Hotel before. Do they serve milk in the dining room?
Have a nice day, everybody.
Hi folks,
I'm a little behind schedule in asking everyone where we should take the Diner for the next month. I am overwhelmed with the incredible amount of effort that Ed has put into January's Diner travels. There has been so much to see and do! Thank you Ed!
A couple of members have suggested that we continue the theme of attaching the Diner to name trains in February. I like that idea but my knowledge of railroading history is quite limited so I won't be able to contribute much.
It has also been hinted that Ed might continue to host the Diner. I certainly wouldn't object to that, but it is asking a lot. I'm sure he has put in more than a couple of hours each day to accomplish what he has. Hopefully others will offer to contribute and not leave most of the work up to Ed if he does choose to host us.
Cheers!!
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
I got a call from my doctor on Thursday morning. He informed me that my right Achillies tendon has ruptured and will require surgury to reattach it to my ankle. This will be my third Achillies surgury. The left one has broken twice.
Just to add some fun to the conversation, he also said that my right knee doesn't look good so I may be in for a knee replacement too!
After all that, we forgot to discuss what damage I have done to my left shoulder because it still hurts 29 days after my tumble into the dresser.
I'm just in great shape!!!
hon30critterIt has also been hinted that Ed might continue to host the Diner.
Stickin' my big toe into the fire here...
February is a short month so I could keep the Diner rolling but I may take a day off here and there and let you folks carry on in my short absence?
It looks like some dignitaries have stopped by to welcome our arrival. Can someone untiie that bottle of Tequila before someone breaks it?
