Good Morning
Post Card for you guys
I don't know what the chances of four of a kind twice is but I'll take it.
120 degrees feels like your eyes are bulging out and cooking in your head, I'm staying inside by day for the most part. It cools off to a 100 degrees at night, I go out a little bit more then.

Good morning ....
Ed ..... Thanks for the donut. I selected a powdered sugar one. Yummy. .... We never did decide where to visit this month. ... I like the photo you posted.
...
I'm only here briefly this morning. .... We are leaving for another trip to Nashville very soon.
Cheers.

Hello!
Does anyone know where the diner finally wound up? Somewhere between Ottawa and Philly (or was it Harrisburg?) last I heard.
I'm checking on the progress of the Eastbound Lakeshore Limited. I am picking up son and daughter-in-law and two grand kids when they arrive in Cleveland at 5:38 this morning. So far, fingers crossed, they are ON TIME! No. 6 was six hours late into Chicago. **
They took #5 west last week and arrived in Salt Lake City, seventeen hours late.

OK, this is the Capitol but close is good enough.
Happy Monday, everyone!
Donuts are self-serve this morning. Flo is taking the day off.

I'll take a custard-filled Bavarian cream eclair, please. Never cared for that white, fluffy, sugary stuffing you find in some donuts. I guess that's imitation Holland cream?
Cheers, Ed
** Update:
#49 was ON TIME to the minute at 5:38 this morning. From my experience this is a one-in-ten thousand chance for Amtrak!
Hello again .
Good to see Brent, Ken, and Kevin.
Everybody else: I hope you find some time to visit here.
actually, my day has been full also. However , I did just now spend about 15 to 20 minutes in the train room. Hoping to do more this evening . .. Tomorrow will be very full for me too.
Heartland Division CB&QEvidently, everybody is sleeping in today.
.
I did not sleep in, but I have had a busy day.
I spent the day (yesterday too) working on my "proof of concept" layout project. A new update is over in the Layout Building section of the forums.
I need to be up at 4:30 AM tomorrow and then drive to Orlando for a meeting at 8:30 with Lynx Transit, so I will be going to be in bed early tonight.
Wow, four posts in ten minutes. I guess Garry just needed to give us a nudge.

Living the dream.
Afternoon Flo, where are the other customers? What, I am the first customer of the day?
Flo, give me a please and if any of the gang show up give them one as well.
Have not felt like doing anything today. I tried not drinking any coffee today to see if felt better. Well that sure did not work. Spent maybe 45 minutes working on the rear patio.
Tried of talking to my self so later.
None smoking Ken
I hate Rust
Heartland Division CB&Q Evidently, everybody is sleeping in today.
Evidently, everybody is sleeping in today.
Just waiting for some puppies to arrive. It is a beautiful day to do nothing, so it is hurry up and wait. Played my guitar out on the deck for three hours and made lunch for the gang. It is very quiet here right now, inside and out, very ominous.

CNCharlieBrent, that photo isn't a Victoria Beach train.
Charlie, I just copied and pasted the caption that was with the photo so I can't say for sure.
Had a bunch of people in tonight and we were talkin movies as they always are asking the kid things. I asked about Baby Driver and they all said it was good, so we'll see.

I watched the crocodiles snagging wildebeest off the shore on the Quest Channel tonight. Nature is really something else.
I did reserve a compartment under the plane to Laughlin tomorrow morning for you. We will be leaving at 2:00 in the morning to get to Rochester Minnesota to board the plane by 5:30. I tried to get you aboard on Coach but they said the last time they ran out of beef sticks and you got a little rambunctious
If you can make it down from North Dakota in time we will see you there. We will be having prime rib in the prime rib room tomorrow evening and I have ordered a special wildebeest lunch just for you the following afternoon.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Good evening ....
John .... That looks like an expensive derailment. No insurance company will be involved because railroads are self insured with loss and damge. The vehicles will be a 100% loss. Auto companies require vehicles to be completely scrapped if they are in a derailment. No parts will be salvaged.
Ray .... I am pleased to read your post about how wekl things are going for you. I'm not talking about your potato salad although I bet it is good.
Ken ... Congratulations for being a non-smoker !
CN Charlie .... Interesting to read about CN's Victoria Beach train.
Brent .... That is a nice photo of a CP train regardless of which one it is.
Good Evening,
A nice, warm, as in 85F day here but fairly humid. I got a fence repaired so accomplished something.
Brent, that photo isn't a Victoria Beach train. That is a CP loco and only CN ran to Victoria Beach. My parents rented a cottage there in '56,57 and '58. There was a daily train that arrived at noon pulled by a Pacific. It most definitely was CN. I rode on it a few times. CP ran to Winnipeg Beach on the other side of the lake.
I actually ran a train the other day for at least an hour. Most RR I have done in a long time.
Well we finally got the fireplace repaired. I had to order the parts myself but it got done and is working great. Next on the major repair list is the car. There is a vacuum pump that needs attention and it will cost around $500 to do. First repair in 9 years, so I can't complain.
Well tea and tellie time,
CN Charlie
BATMANI am with you on everything being over the top or poorly done in so many movies these days, I will give Baby Driver a look.
I don't think it is the kind of movie you would enjoy.
Evenin' Folks!
I hope you are both appearing to enjoy each other’s company, Ray.Smile, Wink & Grin
I think that is an affirmative! Last night she didn't answer the phone until it almost went to message.. She was out of breath. Said she was hoping it was me and was outside and had to run around the house and get in to the phone..... I will be stoping over to see her tomorrow night after the NMRA picnic. I would have invited her to the picnic but I don't want to bore her being around a bunch of train nuts.... LOL
I have the potato salad made and am making extra ice to put in the cooler to take with me tomorrow. Contractor will be back on Monday to cut paint and install the trim in the room. Says he should be done by the end of the week which is good as the new carpet will be installed on the 23rd. Then I can start getting everything moved and put back into the room. Will be nice.
Actually spent about 15 minutes working on a building for the layout. Funny story... Last night I mentioned to the ladyfriend that I had spent some time working on the "layout" and saying I had a lot to get done before the layout will be on the tour for the NER Convention. She finally said, "Ah, Ray? What are you talking about???" I filled her in that the "Toy train" down cellar is a scale model railroad and the place where the trains run is called a Layout!"
Have a great one! And... Ken, Proud of you staying smoke free (except for the trains) for this long. May it continue for many years!

Good afternoon from the Sunny West Coast, it is 26c.
SeeYou190Baby Driver is one of my favorite movies. It was made only a couple of years ago, but it was shot with real cameras in moving cars on 35mm film, not digital. There are no ridiculous CGI special effect, crazy explosions, or impossible car stunts. Every car stunt in the film was a professional driver in a real car. Also no souped up hot rods, just real cars.
I am with you on everything being over the top or poorly done in so many movies these days, I will give Baby Driver a look.
I tend to get well immersed in the music of whatever I am watching on the screen at the time if it is good or unique, and have found myself completely tuning out the dialog of whatever I am watching only to have to watch the thing again.
While I was watching Game Of Thrones the score did nothing for me and then part way through season four there was a dramatic improvement and I found an interesting video on the composer and how he indeed ramped it up in season four and had an increased budget.
My daughter and I enjoy watching the videos of the orchestra(s) on the scoring stage putting the music to film, an incredible amount of work to be sure.
She has been playing some pieces from GOT and I came across this and showed it to her and so she printed off the music and is well on her way to learning it. I could listen to her play all day. My Daughter loves the fact that Grandmas (now hers) grand piano is also a Yamaha.
Kevin when the kid did Deadpool 2, the explosions in "the icebox" were real enough that he got a couple of little burns. They wore special goggles that fit right on the eyelid and were undetectable on screen. The stunt crew really looked after him well and he was the only extra on set that day. I think he was on set 19 hours that day.
When he did an episode of Legends Of Tomorrow he played two characters in the same episode and one of his costumes was over $5000.00. He was still in High School so I picked him up and took him to his costume fitting for Legion and he had about seven people working on just him for about three hours and then he did a screen test to make sure everything looked good. Big bucks spent on costumes for sure.
Had a mega workout today and feel like a million, we are waiting for a load of puppies to arrive and the Mom is getting restless so it won't be long now.
Winnipeg, Manitoba on Victoria Day, May 20, 1955 showing Train 46 to Victoria Beach passing Weston Yard on a Friday-only schedule.
Well best go get a Rum and Pepsi and think about dinner. I just had lunch at 3:30 (an omelet on toast) and am really hungary again. I can't afford to feed me.
All the best to all.
Good GriefYork 1, and I thought Garry’s puns were bad. However, glad you got to have a good look at the “Big Boy”, John.
howmusJust got off the phone with a very cute lady I appear to be dating now....
Afternoon Diners
Flo, give the gang and I a please.
Felt like ash pitt for most of the day. Had a Low Blood Surgar Attack around 1:30 AM. Eat and felt better. Then around 3:30 I started having bad leg cramps. Rest of the night sleep was bad, cramp, sleep, cramp and sleep.
Felt tired most of the day but could not take a nap. Yes I laied down but no ZZZZZZ's for me.
Felt hungery and ate a couple of pices of Air Fried Chicken. After that I felt some what better!
How do you eat a Elephant? One pice at a time. Rear patio looked like a disaster area this summer. It had been so bad I did not want to mess with it! Well today I made my self work on it some. Now it has been down graded to a mess, not a disaster area. One bite at a time!
Later None Smoking Ken

mbinsewiThe waitress is cute, but it's hard to see the building with a big "mug" in front it.
She was perfectly cast for the role. That is English Actress Lily James. She learned a sweet sublte Georgia accent for the role of a waitress in an Atlanta Diner.
At CosPlay Conventions last year, quite a few girls were dressing as "Jonathan the Bo's Diner Waitress" from Baby Driver... very cute. The costume designers for the movie did an A+ job on the waitress outfit.
York1I've never seen the movie but the diner looks neat. I have often wanted to take a trip to some places that I have seen in movies.

The movie has well written moments of tension and drama. It was poorly promoted as a Fast & Furious clone, which it absolutely is not.
The movie won many awards for sound editing, and the soundtrack is one of the best ever assembled for a film, almost as good as the original Guardians Of The Galaxy soundtrack songs.
Taking a trip to the Bo's Diner set was easy, it is right across the street from my office in Atlanta!
Good morning. Eggs, sausage, and coffee. I never get tired of it.
TrackFiddler, I sometimes hear things like that from my wife. One of her favorites is that if the house is warm, she tells me to lower the thermostat to 64° so the house will cool off faster than if I turn it to 70°. I gave up trying to explain things 35 years ago.
Gary, your pictures of loading cars onto trains reminded me:
Some insurance companies are out a lot of money. In Nevada earlier this week:
Kevin, I've never seen the movie but the diner looks neat. I have often wanted to take a trip to some places that I have seen in movies. It is warm here with high humidity. Good corn growing weather, but miserable otherwise.
Have to go cut the grass. Every so often I still threaten to pave the yard and paint it green. I hate yard work.
Hope everyone has a good day
Mornin' folks!
Chloe, I could use a bowl of organic granola cereal, skim milk, and a handful of fresh organic blueberries to top it off. Oh, don't forget my usual dark roast coffe too! Thank you ma"am!
Joke for the day. Sometimes it's hard to figure out who is crazy and who is sane.....
A woman goes to a psychiatrist and says, "Doctor, you've got to do something about my husband. He thinks he's a refrigerator!"
"I wouldn't worry too much about it," the doctor replies. "Lots of people have harmless delusions. It will pass."
"But you don't understand," the woman insists.
"He sleeps with his mouth open, and the little light keeps me awake."
Tomorrow is the NMRA Division's Summer Picnic. Being held at the Suoerintendent's home. He lives about a mile away from where the lady I have been seeing lives, so last night when I talked with her on the phone she asked me to stop over for a while after the picnic to chat. (At this point that is the extent of things... ) We do seem to enjoy each others company, so that is a good start.
Have to make one of my famous potato salads today to take as a dish to pass for the picnic and several other items needing to get done as well. Best get at it!
Track fiddlerI always stood there with a puzzled look on my face after I shut the door and said......... well how am I going to find what I'm going to eat then. I never got an answer...... I just opened up the fridge again after they left the room
Just tell them you were checking to make sure the light went off
Just got off the phone with a very cute lady I appear to be dating now.... She is the retired Physical Education teacher.... Very fun lady to talk with and to be around!
BATMANThat's the right thing to do, hard to make people understand that principle though. You fool your body into thinking nutrition will be plentiful by eating a little more for a few days and it won't hoard the energy. Then WHAMO you cut back again and the pounds drop off. It works. But it doesn't work if you are eating too much to begin with.
Yep! I have had 3 different people in the know suggest that to me. One is a pediatric nurse who is also a dietician (She volunteers at the museum), another is a personal trainer (retired) who has taken me under his wing over at the fieldhouse, and the third is one of my doctors who verified the thoughts of the other two. As I said, I am nearing the weight I want to acheive so the lose is going to be a bit slower anyway. According to Fitbit, I have walked 2090 miles in the last 14 months since I got the Fitbit. I almost always put in a minimum of 5 miles and ususlly adding 10 or more miles every day.
Also got some time today to get some stuff done on the layout. Way behind where I need to be to be ready to open up the house for the 2019 NER NMRA Convention this September. Got to get my butt in gear!!!
Have a great night!
3 Oh! Best head out......
Good afternoon from the Sunny West Coast.
Had a good day getting lots done. My old John Deere tractor that I use to haul a little trailer around for yard work crapped out and I had to push it about 300' uphill to the garage for repairs. It was starved for fuel and a good wack with a screwdriver on the fuel pump fixed that problem. I won't spend a dime on it, but it is really handy to have around. I phone the scrap metal dealer and he said he would give me $15.00 for it. It would cost me that much to drive there and back. When it does die I will put an add in the FB community adds and some treasure hunter will come get it.
howmusI did add some more calories to my diet for a few days and am once again losing a bit more weight.

Richard good on you for the sit-ups and weight training. I do both when the Arthritis lets me, it can be hit and miss. I do look fit in a crowd though, no big muscles but good muscle tone.
My kid lifted his shirt this morning and he has the eight pack going again on his gut. He came home at the end of April with most of all his muscle tone gone as he was just too busy at school to keep in good shape. Didn't take him long to get it back. Being retired I have all the time in the world to stay fit.
The Girls are at the barn riding their assigned plugs. Actually the horse my Daughter rides just sold for $65,000.00 yesterday and will be gone in two weeks. She is sad but it is not the first time she has had to say goodbye to a horse she has ridden for quite a while. Riding is a tremendous workout for both my Wife and my Daughter. The Daughter rides a lot more than the Wife and has incredible muscle tone.
I am on dinner and that requires opening a bottle of red wine while I slave over the stove cooking either gourmet weiners and beans or hamburgers and salad. Hamburgers it is.
All the best to all for a good weekend.
Evening Diners.
I don't know why I have not dropped by the diner lately. For some reason I just haven't.
Congratulations on your not smoking anymore CudaKen. Quite an achievement. I made it for many months but somehow somewhere along the way, I started smoking again Trying to look out for you Ken. Be very aware, one slip and down the hall you fall
Well I dropped in just because I had such a funny a few minutes ago. Judy and I are getting ready to go back to Laughlin on the 14th for our second free trip and doing a little Chit Chatting planning our last day or so.
I was leaving the walk out but I just had a little bit more to say to Judy. What I had to say took about 15 seconds. She cut me off and said. "shut the door, shut the door, you're letting all the air out" ....... Are you kidding me!
I don't know what kind of air she's breathing out there but I think it was the same air I was breathing in here...... I don't know, ...maybe I was supposed to be holding my breath while I was in there
I never understood this sort of thing.
It's kind of like when you were a kid and your Mom or Dad told you "shut the refrigerator door, you're wasting electricity".
I always stood there with a puzzled look on my face after I shut the door and said......... well how am I going to find what I'm going to eat then.
I never got an answer...... I just opened up the fridge again after they left the room
PS I suppose that's why they call it a refrigerator. It refrigerates after you shut the door
Afternoon Diners!
Did not do a thing today that needed to be done. I am fine with that after this week.
Train Front Called BLI today and there is a away to defeat the defective reed switch! At first they would not honor my warranty because they did not see where I bought from there Refurbish Store!
Then I did some name dropping! When I mention Ed it was yes sir we will get to it right a way! There idea of right away is 14 weeks, so just about time for Thanks Giving.
I did get a return number just to be safe if changing the CV's does not fix the lack of chuffing.
