Good morning! Happy 4th of July all. In Sunny Philadelphia we are today as John called it. I've never been to Philadelphia. I love their cream cheese though, a very good additive for a lot of good cooking. Really makes the flavor pop in your beef stroganoff.
The Schoolhouse Rock video was appropriate for today. Thanks Kevin. I had forgotten about those for a while. My favorite was Conjunction Junction what's your function.
Favorite Clint Eastwood movie, that is a tough one. I like them all. I seemed to have watched Pale Rider quite a few times.
Have a Happy and Safe Independence Day everyone. May the 4th be with you
TF
Someone kindly post Elton John, Philadelphia Freedom. That would work for today.
Thanks
York1Then the diner should be parked in Philadelphia today!
I think it is an appropriate location for this date!
My last visit to the US took me to Philadelphia in 2007. My job was to negotiate a cooperation and service agreement with the Aker Philadelphia Shipyard, located on the site of the former naval shipyard. We celebrated the deal with a nice dinner at the famous City Tavern, the place were Jefferson, Franklin & Co. met to draft up the Declaration of Independance. I remember having a ginormous steak, that could have easily fed a family of five! Philadelphia has a certain German heritage. Even today, the tavern´s chef is a German. Walter Staib took part in a movie about George Washington in the role of - a chef!
Happy times!

Whoever calls it first on any given day, that's where it is. So please hurry up and reserve your location for the Diner, for tomorrow is the fourth

Good morning, everyone. Happy Independence Day. Very thankful for our country.
It looks like a hot and humid 4th today.
Ulrich, I am new to the forums, but I'm glad to meet you and am thankful you are finally home. Sometimes I don't appreciate home until I've been gone a while.
Favorite Clint Eastwood movie? Maybe Gran Torino, but there were a lot to pick from.
Hope everyone has a great day. Don't drink too much. Don't drink too little, either.

hon30critterI feel proud to be able to call you a friend!
So do I!
It is such a shame that we live a world apart! How nice it would be if we all could meet! I keep on having this dream of all of you guys coming to visit us in Denmark and we have a kind of "class reunion" in our garden! The tables will be loaded with goodies, I´ll promise!
It may, however, remain just a dream.
Tinplate ToddlerPetra made me a nice cherry crumble cake - my favourite! It looked like this:
Oh my! I'm at the top of the page! Okay Cloe and the rest of the gang! Get to work making Petra's Cherry Crumble, and lots of it!
Where's the vanilla ice cream?!? Okay, I'll take two slices!! I guess you will have to use a Star Trek Transporter to get them here anytime soon!
Seriously Ulrich, I am so glad to hear that you are doing well after your surgery. May the trend continue! I expect to be sharing the treats that Petra offers you for many years to come, vicariously at least!
I feel proud to be able to call you a friend!
Cheers!!

Okay Ulrich! Stop holding out!! What did Petra feed you?!?
You do know that witholding that sort of important information can be considered to be a crime on the forums, don't you?!?
Please, don't leave us in the dark any more!
I just like to look at the positive and funny side of everything. When you look at the positive side and funny side of everything, your mind always believes it.
Clint Eastwood directed a film. That's the one man I will definitely miss when he's gone. Don't let the old man in.
Your mind is a very positive thing guys. Use that positive energy for your behalf. Nobody will ever stop you from doing that
Your mind believes everything you think and becomes conditioned. Be happy, think positively and don't let the old man in.
Track Fiddler.
Judy laughed........ Oh, and when I leave off like that, I meant exactly what I just said, I said to Judy.
She said okay you're right. I gotcha
"Don't let the old man in"
Not my quote but one that I live by.
I worked for a guy that was 91 years old living on a golf course and still playing golf two weeks ago . I asked him how are you still so agile.
He asked me if I saw that movie directed by Clint Eastwood. I said yeah, okay I gotcha. He laughed. I laughed too
Perfect
It feels good to be home again! I hope I don´t have to eat hospital food for quite some time now!
BATMANI have been watching "The Game Of Thrones" as my old bones have been complaining a lot lately. "Lost" was a show I really enjoyed,
If you like the end of Lost, you will simply love the end of Game of Thrones.
Frankly, I cannot decide which ending I hated more.
I am so sick of shows I love, and follow for years, having the worst possible endings.
Evening all, the Sun is out after a monsoon kind of day.
It was a good day today as I spent the entire day working on the layout and I always feel great when I do that. I mostly was doing micro wiring for some lighting but did a few other things as well.
Henry, I spent a lot of time on the water both fishing and sailing and the stupid things I have seen people do just boggles the mind. In Canada they made it a requirement to be licensed to operate a boat and I took the Power Sqadron course and the level above that which really concentrated on navigation and chart reading and radio ops. I found it pretty easy as it was very simular to what I did getting my pilots license.
My daughter came into the train room today and said the casting company called her and ask if she wanted some work. She work on "Wonder" three years ago and hated it but made some good $$$$. She has not done anything since but they still had her portfolio and her account was still active. They said they want her for a Disney movie as she has just the right look they want and if she was interested can she send in some more up to date photo's? Well the photo's have been taken and sent. After seeing how much her brother has made it seems she will give it another shot now that she has graduated and can use the money. It sure beats workin for a living.
I have been watching "The Game Of Thrones" as my old bones have been complaining a lot lately. I give it an okay just because of the production values. It never left me in a hurry to watch the next episode and that pretty much tells the story. There must have been some serious money spent on that show. A whole lot of what I would call soft porn in that show and my theory is that is why it is so popular, people don't have to sneak around to watch it because it is on mainstream pay to view streaming video.
"Lost" was a show I really enjoyed, it reminded me of when you have a great dream and hope to have it again the next night and the next night after that. It was good adventure with a little fantasy and sci-fi thrown in for good measure. It is a show you have to watch with lazer focus or you won't like it. Lots happens on the screen that happens in a split second in the background that if you miss it it can leave you with holes in the plot.
Kid has his meeting with the movie people tomorrow and we have been talking options for him depending on what the meeting is about. I think he will give it a pass and get on with his education but you never know.
TF, those eats look really good. Last night the kid and I pollished off 2.5 kilos of chiken wings just because we wanted to and because the wife said we couldn't. We had rum and pepsi's to help wash it all down. The kid has his 8 pack back on his gut, he had lost it over the winter while in Ottawa so he will work off the gluttony and I did 1200 calories on the bike today and will do 1200 tomorrow to pay off my gluttony debt.
Still haven't got the okay to send my Hudson back to Rapido. The send you a warranty form to fill out to send back with the engine. They have probably taken some time off this week with the 1st and 4th being holidays.
This was like the bike I owned, I think it was a 72. Bought it in high school. Very smooth ride on the highway with the four cylinders. My friend had a GoldWing and we would often rip up to Whistler for lunch and swap bikes coming home. The 500 was a little more nimble on the windy mountain road. Good times for sure.
Happy 4th tomorrow, enjoy the day, I hear there is going to be a parade. Who doesn't love a parade?
All the best to all.
Brent

I agree Henry. I live close to Lake Erie and the Cuyahoga River. Plenty of "Death-Defying-Acts" aka stupid! Lately I've noticed frequent VERY LOUD explosions. Like dynamite, not your usual cherry-bomb or M-100. Amazing. My son, a firefighter, told me what it was but I forget. BIG booms, though!
I hope everyone has a safe and happy Fourth!

{Double Exposure! Why is this happening??}
While I type, I'm watching one of my favorites -- North by Northwest. Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint are riding the 20th Century Limited from New York to Chicago. From there they will fly to Rapid City, and eventually climb down the faces at Mt. Rushmore.
What a great movie. I've seen it about 2,000 times, and still love it every time it's on TV.
Lots of fireworks going off tonight. I guess they couldn't wait.
A bunch of drowning tragedies this week. A couple crabbers and a Secret Service agent on a kayak downed when thunderdstorms came through. This time of year, thunderstorms are almost a daily event, and when you have weather radar on your cell phone, there is no excuse to die on the water. A life jacket would have saved all of them.
Two people thought it would be a good idea to jump on a jet ski last night at 1:30 am. The neighbors heard the crash at 1:45. They hit a lighted day marker, which extends about 15' out of the water, telephone sized pole with a flashing green or red light on top. Darwin in action.
Be safe tomorrow and the rest of the summer.

Huh. I sure am getting good at double posting. I'm also.good at missing things sometimes. I guess the Trackside Diner is like Visa this month. Everywhere you want it to be Thanks Ulrich, I always did like multiple choice.
Cool..... I'm at Lakeside Park, Ontario Canada for the 4th of July's Eve. Care to join me? Plenty of CN here I'm sure, although I have not been here for 28 years.
My Judy is getting festive already. She made sparkler hot dogs, broccoli cauliflower salad, but she didn't make the Bush's Grilling Steakhouse Recipe Beans.
Those are good really too. There's enough to share with everyone here. Help yourself.
Two small plates for 2 on the 3rd. Go ahead and grab yourself a plate too.
A small plate, a few beers, another small plate, a few beers...... festive fun
There's a carnival every year on the 3rd of July about a half a mile from our house. It was so hot, humid and sticky today. I came home from work ringing wet. It's still too sticky.
We will walk a block down to the corner at dark to watch the fireworks. Until then I'm sitting in the AC having a cold one and eating some good food Got to love my Judy.
Happy 4th of July's Eve All
Good Morning.
You got that straight Ricky. I do prefer my pizza grilled, that's the way my buddy Erv always cooks them. I got to get me a pizza stone so I can do that.
You're doing it right Bear. It could be just me, I used to cook them on a pan in the oven. The Heggie's Pizza's take too long to cook. I'd peak in the oven thinking it just needs a few more minutes.
After forgetting and burning too many pizzas I got the spinner It has a top and bottom dual control on a timer. Towards the end, I only set the timer on top, three minutes at a time, finally a foolproof pizza
Good Morning All,
A regular to go please. Getting ready to load up for the coming two week trip. First Mt Tremblant in Quebec and then Elkhart Lake in Wisconsin. With different cars running the two events we are actually using 6 different rigs with only one doing double duty at both events. Busy time of year it is.
Ja Bear, not to worry. I got you covered at Hobbiton. Two visits so far. 2017-01-16 21.05.35 by J.R. Mitchell, on Flickr" alt="Hobbition" />

Good morning all.
Flo - Just a couple of those glazed donuts to go please. Thanks.
TF - I still prefer my BBQ grill for pizza making. it gets a nice crisp crust, and is the closest thing to that hot wood fired oven you can get without spending a fortune.
Bear - Sounds like you were very fortunate to have been wearing the gear you were wearing at the time of the crash! Was the other driver actually ok?
Off to w*^k. See you all later!

Chloe - A RBF please. Thanks.
Are we in PA, DC, or Canada? Not really sure yet.... If PA, I can share some pics...
Ulrich - Hooray!!!! Glad you are healing up well.
Nittany - Congrats on the new house.
Lion - Are the birds as tasty as the wildebeest?
Motorcycle Helmet discussion - PA also is your choice state, unless you are a new rider or under 18. If I rode, it would always be with full protective gear. My ATV helmet is actually a Kylin full-faced motorcycle helmet. (I wanted not only bug protection in summer, but wind protection in winter while plowing.)
I don’t ride a motorbike only because there are too many crazy idiot drivers in my area. My Dad used too when I was younger, but too many close calls caused him to sell the bike.
Speaking of Crazy Idiots Driving - Seems like nobody except me realized that a broken traffic light is treated like a four-way stop....
Trucks in left lane - I think the biggest part of the problem, there are now some states that the law requires all trucks to stay in the left lane unless passing, while other states the law is the exact opposite. Throw in that many companies limit the speed their trucks can go....
Trains - Caught NS 911 tonight in North East Pa, (Located in NW PA.... Go Figure.) but my 1 shot at a pic didn’t quite turn out like I wanted... The right side of the pic (nose of the unit) blurred a bit. (Video attempt failed miserably due to the battery dying mid video....) Guess that’s what happens when you set up quickly between rain showers and can’t test the flash settings.... And have a uncharged video camera due to the non-planned photo op. But she sure was looking good on her way east! NS 310 had a ton of 2-bay covered hoppers tonight.
Weather - Hot, humid, and rainy.
Hope all are well, and all enjoy the night!

For those of you that do not have a presto Pizza Spinner. I suggest you get one.
The perfect Pizza on a pizza spinner, every time.
For those of you that do not have your Pizza spinner yet. Good luck cooking it in the oven where you can't see it
Hey..... have you guys ever heard of Heggie's? I like my pizza to have rust tones on it perfectly cooked when I eat it This pizza was taken off the spinner momentarily after I took the picture. It's the thickest frozen pizza made and you need a pizza spinner to cook it. Just trust me, you do.
