BATMAN So Kevin, who should have been King or Queen and why?

Sansa Stark, and she should have married Gendry Baratheon to make all of Robert Baratheon's prophecies from season one unfold as true.

I did think of that as a possibility but then remembered in the world of medieval politics the throne would go to the male heir and that was Bran. Once Aegon was out as King the throne was up for grabs and being a fictional piece the sky is the limit. Bran had great power being able to go into the minds of people and animals and control them. Talk about having your finger on the nuclear arsenal. I wonder if he could have recalled that last Dragon?Laugh

Speaking of movies, the kid had an interesting meeting in Vancouver with some interesting people, he has some hard decisions to make. We were up till 2 in the morning talking, as well as most of today so far. I still can't believe this all started as a lark with me signing him up to be a movie star (an extra) as more of a joke than anything. I guess that is how life unfolds sometimes. He spent all afternoon and evening with these people, I picked him up at the end of the line at 2330hrs last night.

Ulrich, I hope you make it to Denmark, that middle house looks to have a trainroom on this end. I could live in Denmark, Sweden or Finland.

Have to take #1 Daughter to ride today as the boss is away.

All the best to all.

Good Evening, Folks!

It´s been a quiet day, but a busy one for me! Now with me being on the road to recovery, I start to pick up things where I dropped them for my surgery, i.e. looking into ways of being able to permanently move to Denmark. Although you can buy houses for very little money, I don´t see much of a chance to acquire the funds for that on our own - at least not in a decent time. But whenever one door closes, another opens up! A friend of ours in southern Germany, who had lost her husband at the beginning may join us in the move to Denmark. She is currently selling her apartment and that would generate much more funds than we would need for a place in Denmark. I have found a couple of houses which have two separate units, so she and Petra and I could each have our own place. This would certainly speed up the process!

These are our current options:

The option in the middle seems to be the most likely one for us. It´s a bit bland looking from the outside, but a real gem inside. It also has a modern heat pump heating system and two fire places! It´s a bit far north and a little difficult to reach for our son, but he´ll manage, I guess!

Chances seem to be pretty good, that we will be able to take the Danish grandfather clock we bought in 1996 will be back to where it was made!

Keep your fingers crossed!

Happy times!

The idea is to walk in backwards.

That way if she catches you you can say you were taking them back.

This one struck me really funny.  I remember this old substitute teacher in high school named Dayjohn.  I'm not exactly sure if that's the way it's spelled but I always told him my name was NightjohnLaugh  Everyone loved this guy.

He was a very nice Native American man.  He told me how he used to walk backwards past the kitchen to leave the house in the morning because there was no food in the refrigerator and it made it easierLaughLaugh

Currently trying to figure out how to hide the future purchase from my wife. She doesn't mind my modeling "habit" ..... she just doesn't want me spending a pile of money all at once.

At 1:30 am a couple firework morter rounds went off close to my house.  I was wide awake after that.  The rain started shortly thereafter and that put an end to it.

Haven't watch any of the modern TV serials since 24

Good morning!  Thunder and rain today.  Farmers are happy.  This is one of those million dollar rains.  This time of year, a rain like this means the irrigation is put off another week or two.

After last night's man-made fireworks, we got to see and hear God's fireworks in the middle of the night.  The thunder shook the house.

We have family coming today and tomorrow, so not much will get done on the layout except letting grandkids hold the throttle and watch the trains run.

I talked to some locals this morning at the restaurant who were excited to have a four-day weekend.  Retirement is having four-day weekends strung together.

I, too, love watching for continuity mistakes in movies.  One of my favorites is the little boy holding his ears before the gunshot in Hitchcock's "North by Northwest".  I read that Hitchcock saw it happen during filming, but decided to leave it in the movie.

I survived the fourth!

.

We had some terrible activity from teenage boys in the neighborhood last night. The police were too busy to respond. Fortunately I don't think anyone was hurt and I do not see any property damage. Miracle. We had 2 inches of rain yesterday so that probably helped.

.

I am working on my layout segment project again today. I updated the thread over in "Layout Building".

Agreed. Everyone got all twitterpated about Arya and Gendry, and she is as cute as a button, but tall handsome men usually end up marrying tall handsome women. I don't know why, they just do. I don't make the rules.

Good Morning All,

A regular to go please Zoe. I was in the shop most of yesterday doing projects. Projects are things the Smedleys break and hide that need repair so we can use them again. I also got some service stuff done on my primary trailer and it is now ready to load for Canada next week.

GOT - I read the books so watching the show at least got to a finish. Doubt the old boy will ever finish the book series as he has to be rolling in loot from the TV royalties. Won his own Game Of Thrones he did. The anomalies I just took in stride. I do think the long time viewers got shorted at the end as the producers just wanted to finish up and move on and probably could have extended the series another couple of episodes to further develop the characters changes for the ending. If nothing else the sloppy ending is a good subject for lunch table discussion (like the diner we banned politics).

Ulrich - It's good to see you're home and enjoying life again. To echo many of us we are more like family now.

Fireworks for the local mall were the evening of the third. When the kids were little we would walk up to a hill overlooking the mall and airfield to watch. With the kids gone we decided we would watch from the airport so we went over to the flight service where the boss keeps her plane and watched from there with the rest of the folks from the aviation community. Got the grand tour of the storage hanger after that - no pics as people don't want their stuff on line - but it was impressive. Included was a PT15 Stearman trainer and a WWII era Piper Cub still in o.d.

Speaking of kids, youngest was welcomed to Ca by the earthquake yesterday. It was 6.4 or so but he said it was more like a really heavy truck passing by.

All for now, time to pick up tools.....   Ciao, J.R.

I love picking up mistakes in continuity or anachronisms in movies.

.

The only one that really bothered me in Game of Thrones was when they described the lower gates on the wall as being made of "cold rolled steel".

.

Can you imagine how much things would have been different if they really had a rolling mill? Hot or cold rolling would have been earth-changing.

If you actually took the time to watch all 73 episodes, learned all the characters, houses, religions, alliances, geography, etc, and actually came to the conclusion that the ending was fine as aired, well you are the only one I know of with that oppinion. I guess there had to be one. . "Stories make a good king", really, could anything more stupid have been written into the climax? I watched for eight years to see who would sit on the Iron throne and it was the guy who knew the stories. Literally the most worthless character in the entire ensemble.

Here's my take on the end of the show, just an opinion without any emotion playing into it (that's why my friends call me Mr. Spock all the time) Just how I saw how things unfold.

I watched all the episodes in about six weeks so a lot remained fresh in my mind throughout the series.

Aegon Targaryen could not be king for the reasons stated, it would cause a war that would go on forever.

Tyrion Lannister could not be king as he had too much baggage whether percieved or not and they would never put another Lannister on the throne. He would have been my choice.

Daenerys Targaryen Well they say power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Lets face it she lost her marbles in the end and paid the price for it.

Bran Stark Bran could see the future, the past and had a few other gifts as well. Throughout history the sayers, seers, prophets, wisemen or whatever title they were given throughout history, held very prominent positions in society. Bran had great wisdom and therefore was a good choice to lead the new order. History is replete with people thrust into leadership roles that you would never expect.

I suspect the writers (story, script and screen) know their history and that was transfered dutifully to the screen and made for an enjoyable fictional watch.

The last two episodes were done with reduced budgets, that was obvious with the special effects all but disappearing. Noticeable as it was I kind of liked it as it added to the winding down of the story.

So Kevin, who should have been King or Queen and why? All other opinions welcome as well, after all it is just make believe, a stroke on a keyboard and the writers could have taken us in a completely different direction.

I just came back from a nice rest at our backyard pond and while watching the bird feeders I saw a red-headed woodpecker. Pretty rare sighting for me, only twice before have I seen one. A short while later an indigo bunting came along! There was my red, white and blue for the day.

Why didn't I have the camera Bang HeadDunce

Enjoy the day, folks!

BATMAN
I have been watching "The Game Of Thrones" as my old bones have been complaining a lot lately. "Lost" was a show I really enjoyed,

.

If you like the end of Lost, you will simply love the end of Game of Thrones.

.

Frankly, I cannot decide which ending I hated more.

.

I am so sick of shows I love, and follow for years, having the worst possible endings.

.

-Kevin

.

The ending of Lost was certainly a little different. My son picked up on the fact that there was symbolism from 13 different religions represented in the church. I had not noticed, but they studied religions quite a bit in that hoity-toity school he went to and he doesn't miss a thing. We wondered about all the symbolism and found an interview with one of the producers that explained it all. I just don't know how I would have ended the show and the fact it had fantasy and sci-fi as part of its structure pretty much gives them license to do as they please. How would you have ended it, Kevin?

As far as GOT goes, once again it was fantasy and it is pretty hard to tie up all the loose ends in a fantasy, I was fine with the way it ended. Life goes on after the horrors of war, just ask all my Uncles after they came home from WWII. Lots of room for a movie to come out at some point.

I don't watch shows for years, I wait until they are finished their run before I watch them, that way there is no disappointment if they get axed as I have nothing invested in them. I never watch anything I haven't recorded first either, I don't do commercials.

Ulrich, welcome home. Like I have mentioned my Mom lived a lot more life after she had her quintuple bypass so start thinking about your next MRR project, I enjoy watching your builds.

Well since I started this post we had a big group over for lunch (dog people) and now I need to hop on the Deere before it rains again.

Here is a pic of my Daughters' grad class from last Friday. They grow up so fast.Crying

Ulrich,

Glad you are home, that cake would cause a fellow to knock the top off the urn, re-assemble the ashes, and chow down.

Brother Elias,

In Island terms,--you sound rimracked, lefthand rig, fourth part, hind to.

When I was stationed in Germany I purchased a BMW shaft drive from one of the troops, it had more numbers on the speedometer than I had courage to drive it--and I have been known, on occasion, to jump out of perfectly good aircraft..The average European driver seems to have more situational awareness about two wheeled vehicles than those in the US of A. I quit riding about three years after coming back. When you have to think of all the other drivers on the road, whose only mission in life is to wipe you out, time to surround yourself with more metal.

In twenty seven years as a LEO, I was the lead invesitgateor on just over 200+ vehicle accidents. It always amazed me those on 2,3, and 4 wheel means of transportation, as well as snow machines, never seemed to grasp the basic laws of mass/momentum. Protective gear helps-----keeps the parts together, easier to put into a body bag. Drugs and alcohol, along with speed, were always key components in the situation.

This is the first 4th. of July we have had in years,(can't remember the last one) when we have not had the threat of rain/fog. The display would consist of loud noise/colored clouds/fog. I do believe the people will get to see actual fire works this year. Hit 87 deg. with very high humidity. Water is running out of the back of all of the  AC units in the windows.

Wishing all a safe, sane, grub filled, 4th. of July,2019. Prayers to all what needs em.
