Wow! Does the NHRA have a class for electric vehicles?

I have no idea...  But 0 to 60 MPH in 1.5 seconds is pretty awesome I would say!  My Volt can do it in about 8.5 seconds in Sport Mode........  LOL  (certainly not a racing car...)  But the Volt can stay with or beat any production 2 wheel drive car off the line for about 200 feet.  That is because of how fast the 149hp comes up at start.  I can burn about 40 feet of rubber easily with the Volt....  The handling is awesome though in a Autocross course.  I have had about 5 instances where the handling characteristics have allowed me to avoid an accident.  In any other car I have had I would have been crashed....

Cute kids Ed! What are their attitudes/personalities like. Do they like human contact or are they a bit fiesty?

Dave

Thanks, Dave.
They're as frendly as any pet would be. Grandkids and neighbor's children visit and wander in the pasture. One big fellow, Lackawanna, has large, pointy horns so we remind everyone to be aware of those.

Chickens, cats, ducks and goats all play nice.

Now for those of you that like drag racing and really powerful acceleration (who doesn't), here is the new world's record holder for 0 to 60 mph (0 to 100 KPH).  Built by a bunch of college students: https://www.theverge.com  Enjoy!

Evening diners,

Work,

We'll I finally got a little pushy (just a little) and got some more hours, my paycheck this week was quite paltry but hey its a paycheck, so I'll be working a few hours every day so I get a good bit of change.

My friend is in Alaska, the final frontier! (Sometimes you wish you were somewhere someone else is) well this is one of those moments! I doubt they're going to be taking any rail excursions though... but I would!Laugh

I'll be working on my second super gondola soon. Gotta start getting the parts together.

I LOVE kids that make noise.

Isn't a kid a goat?  So when they make noise that makes it easier for you to find them?

LION slept about 12 hours last night.

NOISE does not awake LIONS any more.

Kids are SUPPOSED to make noise.

I LOVE kids that make noise. After all I have never been successful doing CPR on a kid.

 Afternoon Diners

Flo, get the gang and I a Beer Ed a Crown Royal On The Rocks and Rick and Steven what they want.

VA Health Front. Drive in was a son of a ash pitt. Even buying gas was a pain, guy in front of me left his wallet in his truck and chasier could not clear his sale? Then the icing on the cake where the Dunce The VA use as Parking Valets!  No one was telling us where to park. Then a guy beat on my passanger window and screamed at me to pull off the lot and go around the block again! That means 4 stop lights and I was afraid I be late to the appoinment. I hate to say it but I lost it and went off on them! Did neither us any good but at the time this Gaggle Of Goons had it coming!

Toe Front After the thick 1/4 inch callaus was cut off the wound was rather small, about 5cm. Toe bleed well during the removal which is a good thing. Then they did skin graft using Placenta (after birth) cells. Hum, guess it is better than when they used Foreskin Cells. [Off-color remark removed by admin]

Gary Yes the PRR Coaches are coming uncoupled. What drives me nuts is two fold.

1 They will make it around the layout 10 times or so, then they become uncoupled.

2 They uncouple in the 13 foot tunnel every time where I cannot see what is going on! There are no turnouts in the tunnel, if they where picking turnouts that I could understand.

Far as Horn Hook Couplers I was a hold out for sometime before I went with Kaddes Couplers. So if I have to and it works I am fine with them. I am more of a rail fan than a modler.

 Later, Ken

Well, my next medical test is an MRI of my brain to see if my heart issues gave me any stroke damage.  Certainly nothing noticeable, but they want to check anyway.  I feel like I spend half my life at the hospital, in a doctor's office or going to the pharmacy for more meds.

One thing I had in that post was some info about cars most of you are repulsed by... yep, them new fangled silent electric thingies.

I wouldn´t mind having one of those, but there are none available within my reach. Renault offers electric cars for which you have to rent the battery. The monthly rent is what I spend on gas in half a years time ...

I have just read that Tesla is in trouble and, honestly, I am not at all surprized. You can´t beat the laws of economics.

Still too hot and there is no change in sight. We are invited to a BBQ coming Saturday and I am afraid we will not be able to attend.

Happy times!

Mornin'!

[edit]  I see I have the top of the page, so leftover hots, hamburgers, macaroni salad, and baked beans are on me.....

I had a nice long post all set to upload a couple days ago when the site went down for several hours......  Oh well most of you probably didn't miss me anyway...  LOL  One thing I had in that post was some info about cars most of you are repulsed by...  yep, them new fangled silent electric thingies...  I still love the kick my Volt will give me off the line and the Volt has been setting some new records in Autocross competition.  The Bolt has been been disqualified from it's class as it is considered to be more of an SUV, and is too tall.  The reason given is the the COG (Center of Gravity) has to be very low for it to qualify in the class and they use height and width for qualifying.  Actaully the Bolt has the lowest center of Gravity in it's class and at least one owner is suing about it being disqualified.  The Bolt cut 3 seconds off the record last year in it's class...

Now for those of you that like drag racing and really powerful acceleration (who doesn't), here is the new world's record holder for 0 to 60 mph (0 to 100 KPH).  Built by a bunch of college students: https://www.theverge.com  Enjoy!

I am in recovery mode from the "Faculty Meeting" last night.  Every couple of years the old gang of teachers from the Geneva Middle School Fine and Practicle Arts Department get together to reminice and find out what is going on with our lives.  Last night was the party here at my house.  Was not as well attened as we had hoped probably due to the rain and thunderstorms all day.  Have tons of leftover food.....

Have a great day out there!

Will it make you feel better to think of Death valley, California where it was 127 degrees F yesterday ?

I drove through Death Valley in 1974 on my tour throughout the western states. I don´t remember whether it was 127F on that day, but boy - it was hot! I must have been in a much better shape then, as it didn´t bother me at all. However, the car, a 1969 Pontiac Catalina with a black vinyl roof, didn´t like the heat at all - the vinyl started to melt and the alternator gave up its ghost.

Howdy ....

Ulrich .... Sorry the heat is unbearable to you. Will it make you feel better to think of Death valley, California where it was 127 degrees F yesterday ?

Henry .... My cardiologist changed me to Entresto recently. I still take several other pills too for heart failure.

Ken .... I'm noy sure what you mean about running passenger cars. Do you mean they uncouple when you run them? If so, pay attention to where it happens, and level the track at that location. That should help. I've done a lot of that because my passenger trains will uncouple if track goes up and down. ... Otherwise, use the old horn hook couplers which are more forgiving with unlevel track. However, that kind of coupler looks ugly.

Good Morning!

The night was pretty bad! I did not get more than 3 hours of sleep, which is not enough. It was too hot in our bed room to fall asleep, and when I finally did, the 4 year old pest living in the apartment underneath us, started to raise hell. Why don´t I like children anymore?

The bug junkyard looks great, although sad. In the early 1970s, the VW bug was still the #1 car on German roads, but by the end of the 1970s they were all gone. Today, they are a very rare sight, even at vintage car meets.

Today is our 34th wedding anniversary. We had plans to go out for dinner, but it´s too hot to enjoy that. Maybe later.

TTFN!

Uhlrich, sorry you are having to suffer from the extreme heat wave.  We are currently north of the  54th parallel in Saskatchewan and it has been in the low 50 f the last three days.  Supposed to warm up to the mid 20 C tomorrow.

Mike Budde certainly does some pretty cool cars and trucks.  The VW junk yard reminds me of a place called the Beatle Barn located on I-77 near the I-70 interchange.

Been a while since visiting the dinner.

 Eveing Diners

Flo, give the gang and I a Beer Ed a Crown Royal and Rick and Steven what they like.

Site Crashed last night while I had a 380 word post up. I tried to save it but I could not. Sigh

Richard Tell your daughter well done!

Ed Good looking engines and thank you for the story.

Work Front Pretty uneventful as a whole. Only bright spot was a has a Customer Exchange. It was a $100.00 spiff bed and they picked another $100.00 spiff bed so I did not lose anything pay wise.

Henery Which "What Neat Viedo" did Ken Patterson show Mike Bubbe's dead bugs in? I have watched every viedo of Ken's I could find.

Train Front Starting to kick my self in the caboose for getting into passanger services. PRR Coaches are dropping off from the train like leaves in autumm! I knew they be a challange but after getting to run well for two months or so I thought I would be good. Guess I was wrong. Whistling

Health Front Off to the VA to have them look at the Ulicer on the right great toe. I have to say it looks nasty and would not be shocked if they want to addimitte me. I like Boobs but not when they are my health care prodivers!

Here are some of Mike Budde's "wrecked" VW's for Ulrich from the latest Ken Patterson video.

Henry! That is a great scene! Very realistic! Thanks for sharing.

There are numerous 'service shops' in central Ontario that seem to specialize in collecting dead VWs. I can think of four within about 15 kms of my home. I don't know what the attraction is but the owners of these establishments don't seem to be in any hurry to get rid of their (likely) scrap cars. Is this VW's version of a parts store?!?Smile, Wink & GrinLaughLaugh No offense to any VW enthusiasts out there.

I expect Ulrich knows where his blood pressure feels good better than I.  There isn't one number that works for everyone.  I get dizzy these days in the 90's and probably should get out of bed when it's in the 70's.  Fortunately that hasn't happened in a couple years.

Saw my cardiologist Jenny Broken Heart just this afternoon.  My cardio output is up to 50% from 35% in February.  I see there is a study out of Germany using Entresto.  Ulrich ask your doctor if you qualify.  It's one of those very expensive drugs but if it keeps me going, it's worth it.

We've had 13" of rain in the last 2 weeks.  Lots of flooding north of us.  One more blast of rain coming tonight then we can dry out.

The ex-wife called last night wanting to come over immediately to talk about our youngest son.  He is in his 30's and doing well as far as I know and we chat on the internet several times a week.  She refused to give me a clue as to what it was about.  Last night wasn't convenient for us and I think I'm just going to tell her stay away.  I left that drama 20 years ago and I don't need it coming back into my life.

Heartland Division CB&Q

Has anybody had trouble connecting to this site today?  I tried earlier and it would not open for me. Other internet sites opened.

That happens to me all the time and includes the log in. Type in information and doesn't connect. Sometimes all wait for the next day or two sometimes 3.

I had problems again later  this morning where I could not connect to the forum.

Working okay now.

Ulrich .... The BP does not seem too low to me, but the heart rate is too high. Maybe, Henry can give you a better anser.

I try my very best, but it doesn´t work. I am not made for this weather. My BP is at 110/60 and that´s way too low! My old pump is trying to maintain a circulation, which puts the heart rate at over 100 while resting. Not good.
