Whoever picked Jenny to do the July promotion dressed in a long sleeve sweater needs a vacation. I know you guys are in WI, but sweaters, in July? :shocked3:

She works inside an air conditioned building all day, same as my wife, and like my wife, I'm sure she dresses for the enviroment she works in.  Many times my wife can't wait to get outside, and warm up !.

I've been to many home inspectors seminars, in hotel conference rooms, where it was down right cold!

Not much going on with model railroading right now, except train watching, when and where I can.

This is my "outdoor season".

Evening all! Ms. Flo, could I get a pineapple and coconut milkshake? Thank you so much.

Hobby Front: The car ferry section was almost as I expected it. I forgot that the lake isn't built to the same width as the other part. (The bench work in question is actually three different frameworks that have been screwed together.) I took some measurements and they were as expected. I won't get a chance to get the cuts made until the 23rd at the earliest. (Other commitments this Monday and Tuesday.) However, Tuesday afternoon I might be able to get some pieces moved. (The two 80" frameworks, tops and legs to town and maybe a couple other sections to storage.) We shall see.

In case you guys didn't see the car on its proper trucks.

I ordered long overshank couplers to get the car to run on the club layout.

I'm going to see if the other RR club is open thus weekend to test it there too.

i just read read the good news.  Durango and Silverton has resumed operations of steam locomotives for the first time since the major wildfire in that area.

Just in time for the Diner’s  Colorado visit .

Henry ... Nice picture of future locomotive firemen.

Kevin ...  you should talk to the insurance company before the court date to get them to resolve the matter.  Good luck.

Steven - it´s much nicer to see the picture in your post than to have to click on a link before being able to view it!

Time to call it a day and head for the hay!

CU tomorrow!

Evening diners

Just catching up on the last three or so days here.... somewhere between now, alot of work and that night I was half asleep in my recliner.

I don't know where Alrich dug up this picture but now I can see something. Yep.... when you zoom in you can actually see little flaws and defects and a few little hairs sticking to the ABS solvent. Typical of a scratch build or kitbash.

The other night the clarity of the pictures I was looking at on my phone, looked like newspaper clippings.

Nice looking coal car Stephen, I can see you worked really hard on it.

Well it's off to Bismarck North Dakota tomorrow.... My Son is getting married Saturday. I had spoke of this in the spring or late winter and have been looking forward to it ever since Big Smile

They have my contact information... and they never contacted me in almost 5 years? Now I am being sued?

Lots of room for errors and typos.  Physician billing services can be fairly incompetant.  And then there are the insurance companies that claim they never received the bill even when (in the old days before computer billing) the bill was mailed with 5 other bills that were paid.

Stephen, I would like to apply to be the fashion consultant for MRVP.  Whoever picked Jenny to do the July promotion dressed in a long sleeve sweater needs a vacation.  I know you guys are in WI, but sweaters, in July? :shocked3:

Well, I am fuming right now.

.

I was in an automobile accident in Tampa, Florida in October, 2013. I was rear ended at a stop light.

.

Apparently one of the doctors was never paid by insurance, and I was just served and need to be in court in August. They have filed suit for $2,000.00.

.

They have my contact information... and they never contacted me in almost 5 years? Now I am being sued?

.

Oh well... so it goes. I will see where this nonsense leads.

That story reminds me of a story I heard recently, a guy went to his car saw that someone had broken into his car, he calls the police and says "someone broke into my car and stole 50 bucks and a pack of (insert illegal drugs here) off my dash!" Police arrive and he has 20 more packs of drugs in his car. He is in jail now, which was to be expected.

3rd party test results, mission no go, I got in the car went around the block and it started to downpour rain, so the lady canceled the test, I went and got my permit to practice in the meantime.

Hello.

I just caught this on our local news—

I'll reserve any judgement in regards to the intelligence of such an act.Oops - Sign

I can certainly see why the railroads have to adopt a "zero-tolerance" policy on trespassers.

Good Evening, Everyone!

We got a fair amount of rain, but not yet enough to quench Mother Nature´s thirst. However, the risk of forest fires is down to 10% now.

Not much happened today - a peaceful (for which I am thankful), but boring day (which I could do without).

Time to go to bed - Good night, Folks!

Happy times!

Good morning ... Coffee and a pecan roll, please.

Ed ... I like the photo of CUT 9630.

I showed off the layout to our visitors. A few gremlins showed up just becasue I had company. Not too bad, however.

One of the gremlins was rechargable batteries  were not keeping their voltage for my wireless controllers.  It is never fun to have a wireless controller stop working when you need it to prevent a collision. I used some regular (not rechargable) barttiers to complete the operating session.

Have a nice day, everbody.

We took Robbie to the vet for the results of his biopsy and it came back negative for cancer!!

Excellent news, Charlie Yes

Ed I am pulling the B&O and PRR Pullman coaches you sent and they pull great!

Glad the package got to you in good shape, Ken. I thought I gave away or tossed those Bachmann Pullmans a long time ago. Glad you can have fun with them.

I'll be around late in the evening if you decide to call. I'm usually outside or at the "Caboose" until way-late hours. Tonight we watched "Mars Rise" at about 11 PM in the south-east sky.

Soldern Iron Question. How long does your solderning iron take to warm up? My old Radio Shack 45 watt iron take's 8 too 12 minutes.

My twenty-year old Weller 35 watt takes about 45 seconds. At the bench I use a Hakko FX-888 and that will get to about 450° F in about fifteen seconds. Make sure your tip is tightened well into the heater.

I bought a "Whirly-Pop" popcorn maker to use at the caboose. Lots of fun and it makes great tasting popcorn! Mrs. Pullman and I are watching old movies and enjoying a fine beverage along with the great popcorn.

Evening diners,

My car kit bash needs lower couplers.

I don't think my brother will be going to the MRR club anymore because all he does I'd complain on the way home.

Tomorrow I have my 3rd party driving test.

Well I'll be around.

Evening all! Ms. Flo, could I get an extra large apple pie milkshake? Forgot how to make it? Applesauce, cinnamon and vanilla frozen yogurt (should keep it a bit lighter tonight). Thank you so much.

Hobby Front: If everything goes right, Mom has consented to take me out to the ranch so that I can measure the lake section and see how much and where I will need to cut the lake section for it to fit in its new home. I just need to make sure i pack a tape measure. (Of course, I will have to be a beast of burden if there is anything she finds that needs to come into town.)

We also have found a vehicle that has the needed cargo space for the yard sections. (Eighty-two inches of space!) Hopefully, they get to come to town on Monday. We shall see.

 Eveing Diners

Flo, the gang and I will have a pound of bacon and a Beer give Ed a Crown Royal on the rocks and please and give Rick and Steven what they want.

 Good and bad day.

 Good

 1 My A1C was 5.3!

 2 I lost another 6 pounds, I now weight 259.4. I was at 350 at 1 point.

3 New Doctor and I like him and he was born in the USA and I can understand him!

4 He thinks cutting back on coffee will help clean out the old fire box. Not happy about that, but worth a shot.

Bad Ran over a bad road repair on the way home and car is now leaking gas! Bang Head

Maxman I am type 2 and take my pills everyday. My Doctor all so thinks 50 is low, but I felt Ok till I ate. He said and I heard this before "If you feel Ok don't worry". I have all so been told the meters are only correct to 20% either way. Case in point my metter said my 30 day avg should be 6.3 on the day I took my A1C blood test that came back at 5.3?

Ray Remember my total Cholesterol was 131 and HDL was 55 and that was before I was put on a Statin for other reason. I am more worried about my cholesterol being to low now.

Ed Bow Bow Bow Bow I am pulling the B&O and PRR Pullman coaches you sent and they pull great! Have yet to try the C&N Yale car. I tried the PRR express reefer but it came uncoupled? Will check coupler height to the Bachmann car I was hooking it to.

I will have a lot of questions coming on the lighting. May bug you on the phone.

M1a is dragging 9 Heavy Weight Pullman cars and the Bessimer SD 7 is runing fine. If it was not for the leaking gas, today would have been a great day!

 Later Ken

Good Afternoon,

Well today was a great day here. We took Robbie to the vet for the results of his biopsy and it came back negative for cancer!! Turns out he has benign nodules on his liver that can occur in older dogs. We will have to monitor them with ultrasound to make sure they don't turn nasty but for now all is good. What a relief.

I have been looking at my N scale layout and was thinking of selling off a Model Power Pacific because it can't pull 3 heavyweights up the grade. I did manage to come up with a short consist with express box cars that can make the grade so I will keep the loco. It is a very smooth running engine especially for N and I only paid $50 for it when Trainworld was doing a clearance some years ago. They are a lot more than that now.

A nice sunny day here. We have just been relaxing in the yard after the relief we felt after the vet visit. Pets really are like family and this one in some ways seems more so as he is amazingly smart. He knows at least 300 words. Heck, he knows the names of all 135 toys and is never wrong.

See you soon,

CN Charlie

ROR: The other thing you want to consider is adding a portable cell phone battery to your power outage kit. The more powerful ones can perform many charges before they have to be recharged. They are relatively inexpensive and are nice when outlets aren't available. . .

Oh, we have one--it just wasn't charged. Embarrassed

Hobby Front: I figured one area where my measurements were off. I neglected to account for the trim on the windows. (The window trim shortens the width by 2 inches.) It's not the Holy Grail for getting the shop tracks in, but it should let me get the car ferry section in place. However, it will involve some saws and a bit of rebuilding. The corner section will be reduced by 2 to 2 1\2 inches in width. I will also need to shorten the lake section to 5 feet to fit the hole I have. The yard design will end up changing a bit but as it's not laid down at all, it shouldn't be too hard to do that.

RideOnRoad

We went 119 days without measurable rain at the airport, then BLAMMO! About 3:30 yesterday we saw the incoming haboob, took the obligatory photos, then went inside to wait for the winds to arrive. Arrive they did, gusting to over 60mph, and then came the rain (along with the winds). It dropped .75 to 1.00 inch of rain, depending where you were in about 30 minutes. It looked like the footage from tropical storms. It also dropped the temperature 25 degrees in the same time period. Then, right after 4:00 the power went out. Luckily the temperature had dropped from 100+ to 78, but the humitity had jumped to about 90%. The power company said it would be restored by 8:00, then by 11:00, then by 2:30, and we eventually got power at 3:20am. Of course, all of our flashlights were dead and our battery stock was dreadfully low. We didn't want to use our phone for light as we were trying to save as much battery as possible. Definitely a wild and crazy night. I just looked at the radar and there is another storm on its way.

Big Daddy,  Strasburg Railroad is one of my favorite places.  I live nearby and sometimes have business in the areas so I'll just sit and watch the trains.  Also the Toy Train Museum and Choo Choo Barn near by.  It is a great area.  I live in Amish land so for us its more about dodging road apples!  We even have buggy parking at the banks and Walmart!

Morning diners,

Ulrich, do get some help to sort out your family issues, and remember everyone's family has issues.

The amish picture is interesting, yesterday I saw a series of National Geographic about people who live "off the grid" but aren't those tin foil hat types.

Good Morning/Evening!

Just stopping by to say hello.

I am not feeling well at all lately. Health issues and family issues make me slide into a deep crisis, for which I don´t see a way out. All I know is that my life cannot continue to be like this. This is not the place to discuss such matters, only that much - I cannot continue to pretend leading a happy life.

Happy times!

Morning diners,

Tinplate Toddler

The coaches will not see any passengers. Mind you, these are over 60 years old tinplate coaches that don´t have any interior detail.

Yeah I forgot that passenger cars back then didn't have interiors.

Tinplate Toddler

On my Swiss narrow gauge layout, all my passenger cars had figures in them, but you´d hardly noticed them - even on close-up pictures.

I believe you mentioned that you did place people inside, but I can agree on that point on not seeing them.

Mornin' folks!

moelarrycurly4
Big Daddy: Nice pictures. I am part of a Coleman lantern collectors group and we have some Amish in the group ( they use a lot of White Gas products in lieu of electrciity etc. ) in 2015 the convetion was hosted by one of the Amish guys in Ohio. Really nice fellow and family. He saw me at the recent convention in Alabama and he came over and shook my hand and asked how I was doing. He owns a fireplace and stove store in Ohio. They have had to relent and be able to use a cell phone or their businesses could not make it in this day and age. Still interesting areas to visit. He has been to all 26 years of conventions.

Just got home from a trip over to my favorite farm market.  Been one of their customers for about 25 years now.  Yep it is an Amish/Mennonite store.  Today the 6 year old daughter and 4 year old son of the lady (who I remember as a 14 year old with braces way back when) waited on me.  The 6 year old rang up my sale on the iPad copmputer they now use as a register.....  The Mom told me last year they had to as old people my age still bring cash, but they were losing too many sales from the younger people who wanted to pay with a credit card or debit card....

While there are still many of their farms that still use actual Horse power to do work (I wish I had my camera with me the times I stopped and watched a farmer plowing with a team of 6 Percherons and a 3 bottom plow!) Both the farmer and the work horses seemed to really enjoying themselves!  Most do have modern tractors and drive black vans.  Horse and buggies are more kept for Sunday Morning go to Church and special occasions.  My dad used to sell them liquid fertilizer for their crops way back and really enjoyed the people.  They bought up some old worn out soiled farms around the Finger Lakes and have returned them to productive, rich soiled farms!

I am now starting to get frustrated.....  I have been stuck at 214 lbs for almost 3 months now!  A personal trainer over at the fieldhouse told me not to get discouraged as I am putting on a lot of muscle tissue which weighs more than fat.  Guess that is why my waist has gotten smaller even though I am staying the same weight......?

Uh.... Ken,  What you described doing last night is a major recipe for that Heart Attack you may have!  Keep some small candies around to grab when your sugar gets too low....  And, as you were told, get thee to your doctor and talk about this problem!  You don't need to be wolfing down fatty foods!!!  You might be sure to make sure your life insurance payments are up to date as well if you are going to eat like that!  I am a good one to talk as I used to look like this from doing exactly what you are doing...

Have a good one!

Met the grandchildren at Strasburg Pa.  Beautiful Amish and Mennonite farms and a short but fun steam train ride.  Their steam trains actually do some interchange work moving hoppers and lumber.

The PA RR museum is right across the street.

From a pure socialogic viewpoint (because we can't talk religion) how does this picture exist in 21st century America?  I never cease to be amazed.

Fortunately the laundry is upwind from the steam engine.  Here is one more.

Posting from a tablet is quite a challenge. (At least on mine.) I switched as the laptop was getting a little too hot for my liking. (The main fan doesn't completely work all the time and stuff gets hot even with two computer fans and a desk clip fan. When the computer isn't on, I use it to cool me down.)

NWP SWP

as I was finishing up the work I knocked over a jar of testors styrene cement so now I need a new scale ruler because the glue "ate" it.

Might be a good idea to maybe invest in a metal one. Testors doesn't "eat" metal.
