Good evening.
Maxman... I am glad you took the time to try adding humor to the forum.
Brent... thanks for your willingness to shows BC . Maybe October will be good for that .
Ulrich. .. if you open the August Diner , apparently it is your choice. Sounds like Europe’s too hot. ... Easten Canada is very nice , and I’ll suggest that . Der John might wish to show Nova Scotia. NS is a very beautiful part of Canada.
Henry ... Regarding implanted defibrillators, I have a strong favorable opinion of them because they have saved my life be restarting my heart six times. In fact two weeks from now, it will have been 10 years since that happened . I would not have had my last ten years without that.

NWP SWPMaxman's "Did he really want to join the club" thread was deleted and I still don't know what the point was, I'm not sure I wanna know.
Well, the point was that the president of the club was spending too much time there, so the spouse was "doing other things" while he was away. The story was a variation of a commercial on the local radio here by a guy who calls himself Norman the Floorman. I thought that a little humor would be a change from all the gloom and doom that gets posted. Obviously the powers that be felt differently.
BigDaddy but it seemed like parachute testing to me. Parachutes don't always work.
That kinda remind's me of an old ( 1942 ) Bugs Bunny cartoon.
He's working in a wartime munitions plant, Testing the bomb's by hitting them on the nose with a big hammer. If they dont blow-up, he would mark them " DUD" and move on to the next one.
Rust...... It's a good thing !
Had magaritas this weekend with some egg white mixed in. They seemed smoother and did not give me instant heartburn.
Mr B. Hope your procedure was a success. Sometime they just can't convert you.
I always found defibrillator implants scary because they test it. The take a normal (well maybe not normal) but a beating heart and cause it to fibrillate and the shock it back to normal rhythm. It always worked but it seemed like parachute testing to me. Parachutes don't always work.

Tinplate ToddlerToday has been the hottest day recorded in the last 50 years, with temperatures surpassing the 40°C mark in some places. Not in my neck of the woods, but we hit 35°C, bringing the inside temperature up to 29°C. I am soaked!
Wow, Ulrich, that is a bit warm for where you live. The those of us that live where old fashioned Fair-un-Height scale is still used, that translates as follows: 40°C = 104°F 35°C = 95°F and 29°C = 84.2°F Glad I am able to have airconditioning (doesn't cost me anything to run on a nice sunny day, BTW)
Oh, and speaking of nice sunny day..... As of 6PM when I checked the site for my solar panels it said I made 609.47 kW of electric during July. That is 1.1 kW below the best month of July which was back in 2015. Since the panels are still generating some power now at 7:25pm it is possible that it could gain enough to be the best July so far with the system.... I will know when I check the site tomorrow when I get home from my walk. [Edit] Did it! Just checked down cellar as the system was shutting down for the night. Beat the old record by... get this... .09 kWh.... That is 90 watts, I believe. That's OK, I'll take it!
"What can be more palpably absurd than the prospect held out of locomotives traveling twice as fast as stagecoaches" - The Quarterly Review, March, 1825.
And for those of you that are old car fans.... "That the automobile has practically reached the limit of its development is suggested by the fact that during the past year no improvements of a radical nature have been introduced." - Scientific American, January 2, 1909.
Look forward to seeing where we actually end up by tomorrow morning.....

Heartland Division CB&QBrent... Would you like to treat us to a visit in BC? It is beautiful there .
I'd love to Garry. Maybe next month as we are heading overseas \(to Vancouver Island) and I won't be here to do the job. Thanks for asking.

Happy Model Railroading.
G'd Afternoon Gang,
Hope everyone is having a great week. Mr. B. you in our prayers for a successful surgery, you will need all the energy you can assembleto keep up with your new favorite squeez. (just a poke in the ribs) we do want the best for you.
No margaritas for me either. Have managed not to have a drink, even beer since 1977. Now I can't drink anyway, I would have to pour it down the tube.
Ulrich, You have done a marvelous job with your small layouts, they look very professional, I just love them. Hope it cools off for you and the track cleaning car works great. What kind did you buy ?
R.onR. A belated congratulations to your Daughter. That was quite a challenge she set up for herself. and succeded. Thank her as well for serving. May the new job go well too.
Chef Ryan, What a great sight to see you back in the diner. I read that you have moved, does that mean that you have retired or just starting over with the Cajun Foods and such ? Always loved the Great Trains Diner Menus you used to post hear.I still have one of them copied here of the C.Z.
We have had some losses in Jeffrey's Diner since you left. Some great Guys have passed on to that more Elevated Railway and some have just disappeared and I sure wonder about them, like V-8 Vega in Calif., and Sue & Larry in the Northwest. They were so active here and then just nothing. I sure wish the best for them and many I haven't mentioned.
All has been quite on the LM&E for a month and a half now other than I have been purchasing some goodies to get working with once it cools off here amd winter starts checking in.. In actual fact I have way too much, it looks more like a train store down there and here in the puter room. But if they are having difficulties with the chinese factories I have more than enough to wait that out. Nothing like being prepared. (old Boy Scout).
I bet there are a lot of you that have that problem too. Probably more models and supplies that you will never get too in our lives, but darn it's nice to have them. Lets take a little poll here.. Who does have a fair sized larder of goods waiting to be used and you don't know whether you'll get to them or not ????
Were going on a family camp next week and we'll be taking the Fiver that we haven't used for a couple of years and I have been getting it ready and still have more to do, so I had better get at it.
Wish the best to all of you and keep smiling as it sure looks good on you.

Good evening diners,
No Jose Cuervo Margaritas for me.
Maxman's "Did he really want to join the club" thread was deleted and I still don't know what the point was, I'm not sure I wanna know.
Perhaps Maxman had one too many Jose Cuervo Margaritas?
Well adios folks!
Steve
If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough!
TOP OF THE PAGE! Drinks are on me... Since I am buying, and I am in Florida... It looks liike Cuervo Margaritas for everyone! Enjoy! Now somebody find that lost shaker of salt!.
Check out this super-cute dentist's office I saw in Plant City, Florida... THE TOOTH CABOOSE!
Still not enough to make me want to go to the dentist.
MisterBeasley Tomorrow is my cardioversion procedure. They're going to shock my heart back into normal rhythm. They knock me out first. It should be few hours and then I can go home. Not fun, but I should feel stronger afterwards and have more energy and endurance.

Mr. B ..... Praying for a good outcome.. Looking forward to good news rom you after it is over...... In my case, heart rhythm is controlled with medications and an implanted device.

Morning!
Did I get any sleep last night? Hardly! It´s too hot again, and it will stay that way, at least during the day. There are hopes, though, that the night time temperatures are going to be much much lower in August than in the last couple of days.
When I read the news about the Chinese manufacturer of model trains having closed down, I started a search on which of the European manufacturers may be affected by this. Luckily, none of the mainstream brands will suffer, as most of them either have their own factories in China or Vietnam, or have moved the production back to Europe.
I doubt that the US brands affected by the closure will be able to move the production in a reasonable time, as the Chinese government will hold the tooling as a kind of hostage for any claim they may have. Moving the tooling can take quite a few years! This might have a disastrous effect on Bowser, Atlas et al.
Not intending to get into politics, but I think it is time to take a second look at globalization and the risks connected with it.
Back to my Talheim adventure of HO scale tinplate model railroading. All of my engines have traction tires, minimum two, maximum 4. They leave a lot of gunk on the rails which would be disastrous if I were operating the layout by DCC or Marklin´s proprietary counterpart. But even in AC mode, it is better to get rid of that stuff. Cleaning the track with the catenary up is challenging, so I ordered a track cleaning car, which should arrive in today´s mail. I am curious how effective this car will prove to be!
Have a good one!

maxman Heartland Division CB&Q I get my exercise walking to the refrigerator. I walk at least two miles a day, Wow. That's either a lot of trips to the fridge, or the fridge is located pretty far away. How big is your house? If I had to go that far to get to the fridge, I would have forgotten why I was going in the first place.

Maxman. LOL .... you are tricky omitting some of my words in the quote. ...
We both get a fail for typing or arithmetic. The winning jackpot was $320,543,095 in HO dollars. The drinks would have been on me.
Henry, that 40 million is $459,000.00 in HO dollars. At least you can renew your subscription to MRR.
When there was a boat show in town, I always looked at the 70 foot plus boats so there was no question I couldn't afford it.
The latest Ozark Mountain RR ad arrived. Several nice cars for around $500K, and a 4 car California Zepher trainset for $1.8 mil. They frequently include a period picture in their ads. This is from the Santa Fe Acoma
A $400K Megamillions lottery came and went without me....

Our topic is : If stranded in a liferaft on the open ocean, What would be the LAST food you would want with you. For me, that would be Rhubarb... I HATE RHUBARB !!!
I would eat the liferaft first ... then drown !
cudaken Maxman Where you all wise flat footed or has your arches fallen do to dieabites? I was born flat footed and was surprised the Army let me have a combat MOS. It is worst now and I walk like a duck, causes a lot of tripping.
I think you have me mixed up with someone else. I didn't saying anything about being flat footed. However, yes I do have flat feet, my foot prints look like a duck, and my feet point out so much that I can trip someone on the adjacent sidewalk.
But the flat feet originated 71 years ago. The diabeties happened last October when I had my pancrease (and spleen and gall bladder) removed.
Afternoon Diners
Flo, the gang and I will have a Ed a Crown Royal and Rick and Steven what they like.
Ulrich You can eat things you like and lose weight, you just cannot eat everything you like! I like fish, chicken, beef, green beans french cut, spinach, pork ribs, pork steaks, eggs and so forth. Now I love pizza, it is now a no no. Maybe 1 every 3 months. Only 3 pices of whole wheat bead a week and I can still drink and way more than I should. Yet, I still got a 5.3 A1C test and lost around 30 pounds in a year.

Got Fitted Today For New Diabitic Shoes. Went with a diffrent manafacture and Andy (person that fitts the shoes) think they will help. VA will give me a new set of shoes every 12 months, I start having foot problems every 10 months. You think they should be able to figuer out something there.

Bowser posted the same thing on their Facebook site within the last 2 hours. I've started a thread in the general forum. I am disappointed that Model Railroad is late to the story. Even Joe Biden would call this a big deal, with more colorful language.
gmpullman maxman I don't know why this information is not posted on their website. At least I cannot find it. All it says is that the factory is extremely busy. Atlas has a brief mention of it on their site: https://shop.atlasrr.com/blog.aspx

Model railroaders have survived these "upsets" in the past. Kader, Sanda Kan, etc. I recall a tragic fire back in 1993 at one of the model factories.

Good afternoon folks.
Chloe - A pulled pork sandwich, with home fries, and a Coke please. Thanks.
Weather - I think this pic to lead will suffice....
Fake Twister 2 by Richard Woodworth, on Flickr" alt="" width="600" height="400" />
No.... It was NOT rotating, only funny looking enough, during a thunderstorm, too get everyone's attention!!!!!
When I first saw it, my response was "YIKES!!!!!" And then, second response, was to hit the "save" button on my dashcam!
As I got closer, I realized, it had zero rotation, so I knew I was (reletively) safe to continue home.
But boy that sure had everyonel paying close attention!
Ulrich - Layout is looking good! I hear you on not liking the heat and humidity.
Ed - That looks like that could spell some trouble for a few for the foreseeable future, not good.
W*^k - Decided I will be taking the new job offer, effective 8/26. (This allows me to finish my current employers schedule. No use in burning bridges unneccissarily...) The new employer is fine with that request.
I decided that, even though some of it may not be ideal, it is a better situatiuon than I'm currently in.
I might stay on at my current employer, part time, on days that I only am scheduled for half a day at the new place, as they are only 5 minutes apart from eachother. That will just depend on what the current employer is willing to do in that respect.
Home - Carpet and tile installation in the remodelled sections today. Then comes moving furniture.
Hope all are well, and all enjoy the day!
