Well I waited a few weeks, finally got the courage to talk to her again,

I wonder what she was thinking having not heard from you for a few weeks?

Be bold Steven! Don't let things grow cold. Why wait a few weeks? What does that accomplish? Mind you, don't go overboard the other way either. You don't want them running away from you screaming!!Smile, Wink & GrinLaughLaughLaugh

Actually, I'm pretty sure that won't happen. You are an intelligent, well spoken young man.

Morning diners,

I probably should have acted sooner on that one.

Perhaps I should give it one last shot?

Thanks Dave for the compliment, by the way.

Well today I am grandpa (paw paw) sitting, at 87 my grandma doesn't want him left alone, she's going with my mom to trade in the car she just got for another one.

I'll be back later!

Good Afternoon!

This is one of those days I should have better stayed in bed instead of getting up and trying to do some work on my layout. In the attempt to install one of the signals guarding the engine house, I must have turned over the Swiss loco, which was parked there. The pantograph got all tangled up in the overhead and got destroyed by me trying to free it. Adding insult to injury, I had put the tinplate roof of the engine house on my chair and when sitting down, I got a strarnge sensation of something being between my bottom and the chair. Fortunately, I had not fully lowered my 260lbs. on it, but the roof got dented and distorted. It took half a day of careful bending to nudge it back into shape. The damage is hardlky noticeable, but my soul is somehow scarred! Needless to say I won´t be touching anything for the rest of the day!

Steven, reading about your dating woes makes me grateful that I am happily married for 34 years and therefore don´t have to go through that ordeal again!

TTFN!

Happy times!

Good day folks,

I've been finishing cutting the grass, it takes about three full tanks to do it all, I've got about half an acre left and I'm out of gas, so I'll have to wait till my grandpa gets up from his nap to see if he's got some in the shop.

Well I'm going to make myself useful and do some yard work.

I'll be back.

Good day to all, it is high noon on the West Coast where we have a High O/C and pleasant temps.

Well, Eddy, the Eagle flew a couple of hundred metres to the neighbours yard and has moved on again after a lengthy stay at our place. My wife was in constant contact with "Owl" as they had been tracking it closely hoping to capture it for rehab. The poor thing was covered in blood, but it seemed to be flying better when it left than when it showed up.

Dave, that is great your Aunts worked with Owl, my son did a bit of volunteering with them, however, they were far from home and getting there was a challenge so it was short lived. My wife was the Vet for "Critter care" for years and that made life at the hospital really interesting. We had this beaver there with a huge chunk out of its tail. It would wander around the hospital and bite you on the foot if you didn't pay attention to it. After it was healed, it had a long happy life back at CC. It may still be there, I am not sure.

One late night about 0200hrs the wife and I were coming back from Vancouver on the freeway and saw a Bald Eagle in distress on the side of the road. It had been hit by a car trying while trying to reclaim its rather large Salmon from the middle of the road. We put it in a dog crate in the back of the truck and went past the hospital and euthanized it. It put a bit of a damper on what had been a great night out.

I stumbled across an Auction house full of RR goodies and have bids in on almost everything they have. It will cost me a fortune to have it shipped here. However, there is some stuff there I just can't believe I may get as I would never pay retail or eBay prices for. I had a thread going about a lady up north that was trying to get rid of her husbands' large collection and while I was researching that, stumbled across this auction. I also came across auction houses in South Africa and Austrailia that had large estate sales going on for MRR stuff. Those had closed, but the closing prices were peanuts. Shipping cost really determines what your bid price should be.

A friend of mine collects Corgi, dinky and other cars, especially military stuff and has over 3000 pieces in his collection. I put him onto the foreign auction of said stuff and even with the high shipping he did well and has not stopped thanking me. I told him to keep his lips sealed on the train stuff and he wasn't allowed to bid on it.Laugh

I have a bid of $12.00 ($8.00US) on this New in Box Sunset Loco for four days. This is one of about a dozen brass loco's I have bids of under $30.00 on. Most new in box Tenshodos. There is a Tenshodo Challenger NIB at $94.00CAN. I can't decide how high to go.

I think the sharks may show up soon and run up the prices, but then the auction house is in a small remote town far away, so I may get lucky.

Well back to the preassure washer.

Prime Rib on me tonight, EAT UP!

All the best to all.

Afternoon Diners,

I could had bought a Kato 6-6-4 sleeper American Eagle yesterday with bids up to 12 people with a high price around $30. and shipping. It was worth it the price of a single passenger car out of a old 4 car set.

Kitchen Remodel Update: This is actually an update from last weekend.

.

I intended to install the backsplash tiles, but when we opened the boxes we found they had enclosed the incorrect tiles. They were a crackle finish that was not what we wanted.

.

I decided to install the under (and over) cabinet lighting instead.

.

Progress continues...

 Eveing Diners

Flo, the gang and I will have some of Jan's White Lighting with a Beer chaser and a call to 911 and give Rick and Steven what they want.

Jan, first good to see you in the dinner again! Hope things are going better for your family. Far as the gene pool, that is what I am worried about with my wife. Her Dad passed from Allhier and at the time he seemed old to us. Hum, back then we would have seemed old to us. I think Ed was 70 or 72. Wife is knocking on that door at 67.

Steven Reach out to the young lady from drivers ed. What the worst she can do?

Work Front, strange day. Not a customer in the store till 6:45 PM then I had two pretty much at the same time? Both bought but it was only $920.00 total but still way better than a zero.

It is a all Ed engine night to night! Running the Bessemer SD 7, B&O F7's and the CB&Q F7's. Thank you Ed Bow I love them!

 Later Ken

Ken let me bring you up to speed, I don't have her number! I gave her mine, asked her hers and she said I'll text you! So all I can do is wait and hope for the best.

Good news, I was talking to my friend Sarah and I noticed she's wearing more makeup now which is odd for her, I think she's had a epiphany moment and realized life is passing her by.

She's talking more so I still win even if Anna doesn't text me.LaughSmile, Wink & GrinWhistling

Just thought I would give you guys an update on my $12.00 bid for the Sunset 2-10-0 that has been there since Saturday. About an hour after I posted about it, the bid shot up to $110.00. Okay so who is the Sherlock Holmes??????Laugh

I am actually relieved as I am having second thoughts about what I will do with all these engines if I get them. I am just not an eBay guy.Laugh

For those of you that are wondering how I find these places, this particular auction house showed up on page 16 of a Google search in the wee hours of Friday morning.Pirate

'evenin' Folks

Haven't had much time to stop by the diner lately. I remember the last (and only) time I was in Arizona, back in 1968. I occupied about .00002% of the NE corner of the State by placing my foot on the Four Corners Monument.

Back in January 2015 I was looking for a recording video camera that would fit on an HO flat car. I bought one of these:

https://tinyurl.com/y8gs77nq

It worked great for making "on-board" train videos. Then it dawned on me that I could use it as a dash-cam so I rigged it up with one of those bendy-sticky tripods and set it on the dash of my truck. Over three years later, through heat of summer and some very cold February nights the thing is still making great high-resolution videos.

I feel comfortable knowing that I'm recording events, I even leave it running if I make a stop at a store or something. These days a recorded, time-stamped video carries a lot of weight in a courtroom.

I've been finishing up my Garden Railroad Depot which has been an on-going project but is nearing completion. (I'll post some photos in a little while).

Ken, still waiting for the invasion of the little people. I got shipping confirmation but it may take another week or two.

Sure glad you're having fun with the loco-locos! Thanks for the brew, Chloe put it in a spacial mug for me Stick out tongue

Sorry if I make slurping sounds as I vacuum the suds off the top!

Cheers, Everyone! Happy Modeling Smile  Ed

Ken,

Stepson not doing well, another tumor, inoperable, he has been placed on "palitive care", and is recieving max doses of radiation every day for the next three weeks, along with infusion therapy, in an attempt to shrink the tumor. My wife is with him assisting in his care. They have increased his dosage of morphene in an attempt to keep the pain under controll. I see a vascular surgeon on 7/2 to get the anurism on my aorta repaired, so am on "light duty" as it were. Aging is definitely not for the weak. "Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?"

Good morning..... Coffee and a donut, please.

We had thunderstorms last evening. We had a power outage lasting 2 1/2 hours.

Herrinchoker ..... Ken calls you Jan; so that must be your real name. .... I'm sad to hear about your stepson. Praying for him. ... Prayers for you as well regarding the anurism. .... I certainly understand what you mean about aging.

Here is another photo from the Arizona Railway Museum in Chandler. This a Union Pacific business car.

Meanwhile, the news from Colorado is the Durango and Silverton narrow gauge train has suspended operations indefinately because of a major wildfire. Their webpage says, when the are able to resume operations, it might be with diesel power instead of steam locomotives.

On the layout, I was working on scenery yesterday.

Just looked at that link.  Price is not bad at $79.99.  But the shipping at $1998.00 would be a deal breaker for me.

I forgot to tell you guys, so my brothers Alligator, ATSF #9840, is "working" (for now), my gator A&TC #442 has been pronounced dead, cause of death, DIDS (Decoder Instant Death Syndrome), seems the decoder after being in storage in its box in my house has encountered a moisture from unknown origin. The box was dry to the touch so nothing was spilt on it or something. I decided to leave the rest of my motive power in their boxes and not run them to see if they're working or are too victims of DIDS, I wasn't in the mood for more bad news.

I'm gonna be awol. My dad passed away today, Im a mess. I went to check on him, and found him. i think in his memory, I'm going to try and get his brass narrow gauge locomotives (all RGS) upgraded to DCC.  I don't plan on getting rid of one do his motorcycles either. It's an easy rider inspired bike he built from scratch. Even though I don't ride, I want it to keep his memory alive

Afternoon all. It is a beautiful sunny day out here in the not so wild West.

Jan sorry to hear about your stepson, one of my best buddies lost his stepson to a brain tumour when the kid was just sixteen. The two of us spent many weekends taking him to do all the things he wanted to do in his last year. As the tumour progressed it affected his behaviour and it took the two of us to handle him towards the end. We sure all became close through that time.

My favourite Uncle Al had an aortic aneurysm show up on an ultrasound one day. He lived in the boonies and hopped on a plane to Vancouver the next day and I picked him up at the airport and took him to the hospital. I told the surgeon to spare no expense and use the brass couplers on the new installation. That got a laugh and the surgeon said "we'll look after him" and they did.  Uncle Al had a lot of good years after that.

We were close and he was my hero. When Canada declared war on Germany in 1939 he signed up and was in England by the end of 1939. He went in on D-Day as part of the signal corp with a radio on his back and did not get home until 1946. We spent a lot of time fishing together over the years and I helped him build his retirement home.

Kevin, those weather pics are quite something. One thing about traveling a lot, you see some interesting weather in different parts of the world. I was sailing in Australia on a fifty-foot boat once. One day we were anchored in a bay in the Whitsunday islands and we were swimming off the boat when a squall showed up on the horizon out of nowhere, that was an interesting experience.

Steven, just stay relaxed about the dating scene. The babe of your life will show up when you are not looking. I almost always had a girlfriend to travel with and do all the rather semi-extreme activities with, however, I didn't want to ever marry any of them. My wife and I were good friends for 14 years before we actually hooked up and I got married at 40. My only advice on the subject would be, if you find yourself asking yourself if you should marry someone, the answer is in the fact you asked the question. I wanted nothing more when I realized I wanted to spend the rest of my life with my good friend of 14 years. I just had to age a bit (to 40) and settle down somewhat to realize it.

Garry we had a mini Rocky Mountaineer trip to Whistler with an overnight in a posh suite and home the next day. The wife loved it and she had not had good experiences with rail travel in the past.

Here is a crappy video of the trip.

The kid and I have been working out together most days. I am suffering trying to get through it all. I don't even try to keep up, but am enjoying the time together immensely. I do 25 fast pushups while he does a 100, same with situps and other things. He is in incredible shape and that is why he has gotten some of his movie work over other extras. On one nine-day shoot, he was part of a group of six. They sent the other five home and kept him for a bunch of extra days as he was the only one that could keep up with the stunt team. Not only did he make a bunch of extra money, he also got a lot of stunt training while they waited between shots. Like I always say, some people make their own luck.

I think I need a drink to quell my inflamed muscles.Laugh So belly on up boys and have what you would like, except that good looking blonde in the corner that looks just like Meryl Streep, that's my wife.Pirate

All the best to all.

Good evening diners.

.

Jimmy, I am terribly sorry to hear about your father. My father passed away when I was 28 years old, and it bothered me for years. I assumed he would have so much time left, then he passed unexpected with no warning.

.

The "resort" I am staying at on Daytona Beach has outdoor charcoal grills for the guests to use. I went to the store today and bought everything I needed for a big old burger cookout! Look at this masterpiece, and how happy I am enjoying it!

.

Once this burger settles, I think I will go in the ocean for a while. There have been over 1,000 jellyfish stings on Daytona Beach so far this year, but I am not caring. These are the small jellies that just feel like a scrape when the get you. Vinegar eases the sting instantly.

Hey there's the crowd, evenin' folks!

Jimmy, sorry to hear about your father, I hope you can find some peace with it, with condolences and sympathies, Steven Ward Jr.

Also Jimmy, if your father was a model railroaded perhaps the guys can put his name in the RIP track memorial.

Thanks for all your wisdom on the whole dating thing. I'm not really "lookin" I'm just trying to expand my social circle and perhaps start dating just to get my feet wet so to speak, if something bigger becomes of it, wonderful!

Still no news on the mobile home, my dad might give my uncle a call to start the ball rolling.

Once I get to take a look at what I have to do in the way of renovations, perhaps I'll start working on a track plan.

I'll be back later.

Evenin' folks!

Thoughts and prayers going out to those of you who are dealing with "heavy" things going on in your lives at the moment!!!

Tonight the family celebrated both my Grandaughter #1's 11th birthday and Father's day (early) by going out to dinner at a Red Lobster up in Rochester, NY.  There were several people not directly in the family with us as they have kids that are friends of the grandaughter.  I ordered a small dinner (Tilapia Filet with French Fries, Brocoli, and a cup of Clam Chowder.  Managed to eat about 2/3rds of it.  didn't bring the rest home as it would just get thrown out about a week from now anyway....  Granddaughter #1 is turning into a very pretty young lady...  Growing up way to fast!  Every once in a while her personality, looks, and demeaner remind me so much of her Grandmother..... Sigh

Got on the scales this morning and it said I weighed 211 lbs.   Heh, heh.....  Only 3 more to reach the first main goal before I go to my 50 year reunion at Eastman School of Music next October.   May even be several pounds lighter by then!  I celebrated by adding another lap over at the Fieldhouse this morning.  Did 19 laps which is 3.5 miles.  And.....  I did it in less time than I was doing 3 miles (17 laps) a few weeks ago.  I am feeling it tonight though.

See you all tomorrow, I hope!

My thoughts and prayers to all those with sorrows.

Hobby Front: The rework bug has struck again. (Even before the parts come "home".) I decided to add another track to the car ferry yard for handling passenger cars. (The station that was going on the yard will end up being used there. The station that was the main station with the 7 or 8 station platforms will be going on the yard instead.) That requires purchase of a #6 LH turnout and some AM Models bridges. (I think I will grab a piece of flex track from the supplies for the MTP/PTTX expansion.) The other is a slight redesign of the yard. I have added a turnout to the top of the yard which will allow me build a team track and a woodchip area. That will allow me to reuse existing structures (and a interestingly colored engine) that I really didn't want to have to store. (I think I can get all the needed track from the existing team track section. Less sections that I will have to move and store, so that's a good thing.)

Edit: Turnout and bridges came to a hare over $20.

Good night diners,

Anybody around here with a green thumb know how to keep bugs off tomato plants? I read DE (Diotamaceous Earth) will kill them and is all natural, that's my problem I want all natural tomatoes, so I got some yesterday and I still see some bugs, I applied it again because the rain washed it off, hopefully this will work.

Next season I'm going to an I ground large scale garden, tomatoes and peppers will be my first crops, I might expand to other stuff later.

Well I'm going to hit the sack soon, "see" y'all tomorrow!
