I'm of the opinion that you should be open on the forum...
So my avatar is of myself, and the username is my nickname based on my surname (Graff).

My avatar is USATC S-160 #607. When in the Navy in Norfolk I made a lot of trips to Ft. Eustis to see their giant model railroad. The 607 was a fun way to spend a weekend riding and chasing it and it has given me a lot of great memories.

I have always had an interest and admiration for the "Glory Days" of Pullman first-class travel and adopted my GMPullman moniker in honor of old George, himself.

Mine is the logo for my Freelance railroad. The Western West Virginian. A Trunk line north to south in WV. With connections to B&O, C&O, WM, Pittsburgh & West Virginia, West Virginia Northern and Buffalo Creek & Gauley. With headquarters in Mt. Charles, WV.
I have been called Butch as far back as I can remember,to this day there are some who still don't know my given name;Randolph. When nieces and nephews came about'',uncle'' was added, and has stayed for 40plus years.
Still have not found an avatar I like.
Mine is the " Omaha X" on the old Omaha Road ( C&NW) in NW Wisconsin. I model the portion from Spooner( the intersection of the X) to Cameron. I live near Sarona and my name is Terry.

I probably ought to send Mike in SE Wisconsin some royalties for using his custom designed avatar. When I go broke from the payments, I'll get around to designing my own, perhaps based on S.O.S. (So. Oregon & Siskiyou), my fictional '50s short line.
My forum user name identifies me as a one-time visitor to Attu Island. I got on the final formal commercial birding trip to the island as a breakfast cook back in 2000 by sheer nepotism. As a modest birder, it was the most amazing place. Any contributors to the forum that are birders are familiar with its importance in that activity. Being bitten by Attu is comparable to being bitten by model railroading - one is liable to never recover.

My avatar is just me in front of a cathedral in Montreal. beautiful city, wonderful people. One of the best places my travels have ever taken me to.
I actually just changed my avatar...
It's now a Lotus 43 powered by a BRM P75 183 CID H16, and was driven to victory by Jim Clark in the 1966 United States Grand Prix at Watkins Glen International...
The H16 is a very fascinating engine to me being that it's two horizontal opposed boxers 8 engines stacked and geared together...
If you haven't already noticed I'm also a car nut.

I worked hard on my avatar. The golden orb for my head was chosen, like the original iphone emojis, to give no preference to a specific color of skin, but to represent the golden harmony of us all around the spherical globe. Similarly, the body is neither overtly male nor female, using green as the clothing color to represent model railroading’s connection to the environment.
Imagine my chagrin when Kalmbach rolled out their own generic default avatars that look nearly identical to my own carefully-crafted work of avatar art. Oh well, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I suppose.

My avatar is of course for the Maryland & Pennsylvania RR, a shortline running from Baltimore, MD to York, PA. This symbol appeared on timetables.
Ironrooster comes from the book Riding the Ironrooster which appealed to me at the time. Also I was involved in the Episcopal Church Cursillo movement which used the rooster as a symbol. So Ironrooster it was.
It's all caps because I inadvertently hit the caps lock key. By the time I noticed, it was already registered and I couldn't change it.
Or maybe Unclebutch, Attuvian and Cuyama all were born in the same town and had the same mailman.

My name Chatanuga was given to me as my pledge name in college. At the time I thought it was a misspelling, thought it was unique, and kept it. I later learned that it is actually the original spelling of Chattanooga and means "rock rising to a point."

The ones that flutter and move are annoying. reminds me of a child. Hey, look at me.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
My avatar is a woodcarving of Christ bust attached to a cross of red oak. My other hobby is woodcarving and I completed this one about two years ago.

My old moniker was CascadeNorthernRR (oy I haven't heard that in a long while) anyways, I got to thinking and the CNRRs name didn't sound like a class I as I was wanting, my current moniker stems from the discovery of a real Northwestern Pacific about the time I was looking for a new "prototype" for my freelanced railroad, and so the NWP-SWP system was born!
For whatever it is worth...

Good morning
My avatar doesn't have much to do with HO trains but it was a hobby that I loved. I bought and sold the airplane twice. My CB handle was Yankee Flyer and I guess I couldn't come up with anything else that was more discriptive.
That was a long time ago.
Cheers

My avatar is a picture I took of the side of a New Haven RR FL9 at the Danbury Railroad Museum in Danbury, CT a couple years back. I'm a New Haven fan, so it seemed appropriate.
The sig. pic in my post is the side of the railroad bridge I walked under going to elementary school.
My user name is my first name, and since I'm a number (my dad is Paul, Jr., I'm the III), so "Paul3" it is.
My avatar picture shows an Amtrak line up of P42s and one P40. To celebrate its 40th Anniversary in 2011.
I love the past heritage phase paint schemes. Specially Phase I & III. On the bottom I have Amtrak's current slogan. But I added the date.
I love Amtrak so much I needed a picture that showed it. Luckily this event captured that feeling.

I decided to change mine. I really need to dig into my slide collection and see what I have. This is the turntable at Cumberland Md. I guess I should have paid attention to the tread about when the C&O mergered, late 80's is when I think I took this picture.

Mine is my freelanced road at the present, BUT, I might be switching it to an HO scale Wheeling SD40-2
(My Model Railroad, My Rules)
These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway. As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).
My logo is what it is, keeping it simple. I'm a big Rio Grande fan. I'm a big narrowgauge fan. And I like to think of my narrowgauge as being a going enterprise, rather than something the Rio Grande was trying to get rid of. That's why, even though I model the narrowgauge, I like to treat it as part of the up-to-date look of the overall line, with narrowgauge as a full partner in that modern Rio Grande.

It's an image of my username, the Metro Red Line, which is one of the subway lines in Los Angeles' Metro Rail system. It's the closest rail line to me - just a few blocks away, so I figured it's an appropriate username for model train/railroading forums. It's also how I get to work every day.
With apologies to those who have read this before, my avatar is a picture of my HOn30 'critter'. It is scratch built from brass. I used an N scale Bachmann 4-4-0 as a source for the drive train.
There is precious little of the original steamer left. Basically just the wheels, worm and a minimum amount of the frame that holds them together. This is from a different project. The SMD LED will be a beacon on the top of a tow motor. Note the added power pickups on the wheels:
Those who know the original locomotive will recognize that the gondola is actually the original tender which is where the motor resides. The critter has 12 wheel power pickup and constant LED lighting. The visible engine is from a Life Like generator flat car load.
This was one of my first scratchbuilding projects. I will admit that I made a couple of mistakes with it. One is that I put the headlight on the cab roof instead of putting it on top of the radiator where it belongs. The result is that the exhaust stack causes a shadow when the light shines down the track. The other is that I installed a red LED as a backup light. It works fine when the locomotive is moving forward, but I should have installed a white reversing lamp instead.
I'm working on a second critter where I have corrected all the dumb mistakes.
The origin of my moniker should be pretty obvious!
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
