Ray: Yeah, I'm with you on the track pic. The close to ground angle makes it look more extreme than it probably is. Kind of like driving on a road that looks bent and curved, but seeing the same road from the air it looks straight as an arrow. Looking at the picture, one can see where the ballast was pushed out.
Steve O: Who knew?! An alleged true story was that some legislature, (Virginia seems to come to mind on it, but don't know for sure), had voted to make Pi equal to three. Go figure. Anyway, the pies look delicious!
And did you know the Apostle Paul was a baker. Because it says he went to Phillipi (pronounced fill-a-pie).

I have no idea.... I was an attachment to an email about the "Tuesday Night Gang" who do track maintenance and repair out at the museum. It is most likely the result of high temps and welded rail I would think. The photo is most likely worse than it looks due to the angle and distance it was taken from. Still wouldn't want to run a train at speed over that section......
Gloom and Doom from the storm hasn't hit here yet. They were calling for as much as 6 to 12 inches but we have so far gotten a little over an inch. The roads have been salted and sanded so the sn*w isn't sticking there.
Been doing some more sorting and recyling or storing of stuff that has been sitting around for the last 20 years waiting for me to deal with it. I should head out to the Fieldhouse and put in at least a mile.....

I've been busy for a couple of days. I see some remarkable photos.
Ed .... I like your pictures of riding Amtrak in CA. .... Hopefully, we see more CA photos while the Diner is there.
Ray...... That photo of crooked track is interesting.
I had some locomotives with decoders not working correctly. Some are now rest to factor defaults and are working fine. Two of them have been replaced becasue they would not reset. I'll take the problem decoders to a friend who has a decoder testor to see if the are fixable.

Well I dig out last year's issue of Great MRRs and looked over a plan that had caught my eye a while back it's 14x30 with two decks and a central peninsula, I might be able to do it depending on the success of my business, if I do I might expand it to 16x48 to get more run maybe even 24x48 if possible. I don't know quite yet nothing is in concrete.
I opened an Imgur account to post pictures to the forums. Hopefully I'll have something to post in WPF soon but for now I am limited to non layout activities till I get a building built.

Late Customer At 7:30 PM I thought the day was over at work. But a car pulled in. They wanted a Futon mattress, not a big deal and should be quick. They spent $1500.00 and I made a extra $110.00 to boot. That was worth staying to 8:45 PM.
Called BLI Tech Support today. Not about Rolling Tennies Ball problems, but tips on getting the tender power pick up problems I am having on the Heavy Mike and the Hudson. Did take the time to tell him how much I am enjoying the Pargon 3 Bessemer SD 7!

However you crossed a line with the vision of cutting toe nails. Anesthesiologists see people who haven't seen a dentist in 10 years and have teeth like bits of broken black glass. We see blood and gore and people with end stage nausea, occasionally finding ourselves in the field of fire of both.
But cutting toe nails......especially the ones that curve like horns,..........It takes a special person to be a podiatrist, or a gastroenterologist.

BigDaddyIf I played a small role in ending the pop up ad discussion, I met my goal for the week.
I guess it was my reply that caused your consternation, Henry. I really wasn't trying to harm horses in any way, I thought I was replying to young Master Steven in regards to his pointing out that ads even pop up in the "Users Online" window.
I really didn't think it was Off Topic since it was an unwarranted ad placed in a deceptive manner.
The one that was there in the very early morning hours was for a foot clinic in San Francisco, California.
I just wondered how many customers they expected to attract from the eastern regions of the US and that was my weak attempt at humor.
The ads on this site really don't bother me one bit.

I'll have to take a look. You wouldn't believe all the boxes I have full of all kinds of adapters and cables from dozens of electrical goodies I've had over the years
The DCC plug is simply a 5.5 mm DC barrel plug on a pair of wires you connect to your DCC buss to connect to the Thunder Reciever power input.
You can do a reset on the reciever by pressing the reset button and then powering up.

Dad Front: They did get him moved to a regular room. Everything is back to normal expect for his kidneys. We shall see where that goes.
Hobby Front: Didn't get the engine weathered yet. Did get started on the hopper reletter. The first few pieces of dimensional data are applied. After looking at the decals I have and the car, I think I will also remove the billboard lettering at the top of the car as well. I might try to get some more lettering on it as well tonight.

No, my snow-camping days are long behind me, but I still recall "Tommy" by The Who pretty well. My Boy Scout troop usually had at least one deep-winter camping trip every year. It wasn't comfortable, but it was something to be proud of once accomplished. Ray, I salute your continued involvement with the Scouts.
My daughter was in Girl Scouts for a short time. They went on a "camping trip" and stayed at the Marriot.
We have 8-10 inches of fresh snow already, and could get that much again by the time the storm winds down tonight. My plow guy hasn't been by yet. I've let him know that I'm retired and I don't normally need to get out until the storm is over anyway. (And, like magic, he just showed up. This is going to be at least 2 passes anyway.)
I stocked up yesterday on food and beer. I was hoping to go out tonight for some music at a local bar, but I'm not going to fight bad weather and they will probably cancel the show anyway, which is the prudent thing to do.

I just got back from the intermediate School over in Waterloo. Was there to watch Granddaughter #1 recieve a reading award. She is still #3 in her grade over there for her reading amount. Doesn't seem possible that next year she will be in Middle School!!! I'm sure she will stay being a very sweet and beautiful youn glady though.

Predicting another round of winter storm stuff around here tonight and all day tomorrow. I didn't do it.
My eye went from totally fogged over after surgery to seeing shapes on TV about 9 hours after surgery. This am, through a pinhole device at the eye docs, I think I was seeing pretty close to 20-20. There is still some swelling and residual pupil dilation and nothing is truly sharp. I searched through all my old glasses and nothing works for close vision. The final vision exam is still a month away.

We delete those users whenever we see them. Most of the time they merely create their accounts and then never post, so we don't notice they exist. Which makes me wonder, what's the point? Then one day something reminds us and we do a user search for "Credit" or "Casino" or "Xbox" or "Vape" and ban a bunch of 'em at once. I can't imagine that creating an account with a bunch of search keywords in the description BUT NO LINKS TO ANY BUSINESS would be a very effective advertising scheme, but I've only been working in advertising-supported industries for 30 years, so, what do I know.

The motor control CV's have been changed. CV 5 is 245 and CV 6 is 50 CV 2 is 1 and CV 3 and 4 is set at 5. Far from being a problem! Throttle respones is strang and still a easy fix! Just wondering after a few Crown Royals if you did the Cuda Ken "Lets push this button DCC is Fun"!

Lots of things to report on today:
Dad Front: I was told, from Mom, that they were planning to move him to a regular room sometime today! (Yay!) Very good sign.
Computer Front: Got the new screen this afternoon. Got it installed and it worked perfectly. One minor problem: The system, when it recognized the new screen, wouldn't size the desktop to the size that I had it previously. I just had to rearrange the icons and shrink them a little. I also ended up dropping the magification down on the browser windows as well. For all the hassles, I still think it was worth it to be able to have the laptop back on my lap!
Hobby Front: Also got in the mail the can of decal spray and the sheet of GN decals. Given they were white, I used the oft mentioned trick of using a black Sharpie on the back to make the lettering more apparent. (Learned that trick from the forums.) Once that was done, I put a coat of the spray on the sheet. (Another trick for decals of any age that I do.)
