Show me something else that your other half bought for the layout that you would never have bought yourself!

My beautiful wife bought me both these Atlas Gold Trainmasters about a year apart. She was coming home and for no reason pulled into PWRS and they know what I like.

A year later I mentioned that I need one with a steam generator in it for my Passenger train, so she came home with one that had the engine number that was equipped with the steam generator in it. What a Gal!

More other half goodies please.

But for the life of me when you go insert pictures unlike the old one, I can’t figure it out the only thing I know it to put the link.

When I use Flickr to post photos here I don't use the M-R "Insert Photo" box. Simply copy and paste the "BB Code" from your Flickr "Share" menu.

 MR_Photo1 by Edmund, on Flickr

Select the photo you want to show then click the "Share" arrow:

 MR_Photo2 by Edmund, on Flickr

When this box appears go to the BB Code tab and pick the size you want to show.

(The M-R Forum seems to automatically re-size photos. I usually have 1024 wide selected)

 I use crtl>C and crtl>V to copy/paste:

 MR_Photo3 by Edmund, on Flickr

Once the image is pasted into your reply it will look like this. The photo won't show. Some of the others that post from Flickr here modify the link to remove the ID tag at the bottom of the photo but Flickr says they do not want you to do this... so I dont.

YMMV — Good Luck, Ed

Ok the reason you can’t see pictures is I’m now on Flickr. But for the life of me when you go insert pictures unlike the old one, I can’t figure it out the only thing I know it to put the link.

So here is the picture I just got my passenger cars running now I’m putting freight in side the passenger lines a dual train, side by side.

OK, a recent addition to my layout, this Case 988 wheeled excavator.

I added the hydraulic lines, air filter and exhaust pipe, along with giving it a used look.

I don't know what to say about part of my post missing, along with the reply button.  I had lots of troubles right after this forum went through it's changes a couple of years ago, or was it longer Confused.  Anyway, no problems looking at anybodies post since.

I had to do a search, but it looks like AMTRAK is the only one that didn't put on the front handrails?

Lets continue on with a recent addition to your layout or roster!

Henry,

You are correct.................That was my original thought.

They produced 3 cabesse, in three colors, red, blue and yellow. I bought the red and blue and as you might expect it was the yellow whose price on eBay skyrocketed.

Trying to see what prices looked like now I searched wagon top caboose on eBay and came up with Fox Valley.

Thanks for setting me straight.

Love that photo Ed.

Thank you, Bear!

Still off topic: I know there were some BIG hot metal cars in the U.S. but maybe not as big as the Trix model in the photo.

Still there were some here that were "close enough"

Your covered hopper looks great, Bear! And, Many export cars were made by North American carbuilders and were shipped either to a port or to South America by rail so you DO have justification there.

I have a friend in Brazil that sent me some Frateschi Paulista passenger cars and an electric locomotive. I like to run them every now and then.

Sorry... I got carried away! (Off Topic!)

Off Topic Love that photo Ed.

When my kids were young they gave me a Frateschi hopper kit, which I didn’t have the heart to tell them that it was of a Brazilian prototype but thanked them, and assembled the kit.
Some years later, a thread from Randy Rinker on kitbashing open hoppers to covered ones, which also contained doctorwaynes usual Good Tips, got me inspired to have a go, and from the Lachlan River Workshops came LRA 8009, which has now seen years of hard use in cement service!

I really like your NYC Pacemaker caboose. Scratch built or kit?

Thanks, Allan!

They are kind of awkward looking as far as cabooses go. It is an Overland brass model that I picked up at the Berea train show for a song. (actually I can't sing, maybe the seller gave it to me cheap to make me go away!) I painted it and lettered it with CDS dry transfers IIRC.

Show me another caboose that is not a standard design

New York Central had only five of these home-made Pacemaker cabooses built on frames from old box cars:

IN the 1960s, MEC had a shortage of cabooses, and converted a number of old 40' boxcars into cabooses. I kitbashed MEC 646 from an Athearn BB 40' boxcar and a wide vision caboose.

Calling this a "load" is , I admit, kind of reaching out there but ...

Here's a Eastern Car Work's depressed center flat. Heavily modified to "actually" roll on track's. ( The kit straight from the box leaves a LOT to be desired )

If this is acceptable, lets see some Caboose's.

I love the way the interior wood turned out in this model.

You definatly "earned" the right to brag about that one. I always "try" ( and usually fail ) to get wood to look that good ! That's an InterMountain Drop bottom Gondola isn't it ? I managed to get several of those at a yard sale 9 or 10 years ago..... still havent gotten around to building them.

The Demon's Hollow Spend's as little money as possable on rolling stock, and their work car's are no exception. Here's a 1 / 2 Gon water tender.

Suspension of disbelieve is a term that means the audience believes that fiction is real but in general anything that is not average ruins the façade so I don’t really have anything too strange but a do have some Thrall All Door cars which are used to haul lumber. They are kind of strange compared to a normal boxcar.

This is one of my favorites, I doubt I could choose just one.

This guy is lettered with decals I received from one of my very first decal trades through the Rail Graphics trading list over thirty years ago. I used the smaller ones on an N scale car, but I still had the larger lettering for an HO scale car decades later.

I made the herald myself from bits of several different decals.

I like this one. A peekaboo shot of my C & O 2-10-4.

Show me another Peekaboo view of something.

This photo rewarded me with a second place certificate in the MCR division 2 Bring and brag two years ago.  So it holds a special place in my heart.

Let's see more of your favorite shots.

These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway.  As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).

Nice work Ed, and Mel.  And to all that got in while I was setting up my post! Those headlights do look neat!

One of my favorite scenes, looking out over a cold looking Lake Superior.

Show us more of your favorite scenes.

"Favorite scene"

Here is a scene from nearly 10-years ago. A West bound New York Central passenger train passes a short freight headed by NYC Mikado #9519 as it rounds the curve near the Farmers Union grain elevator.

Another favorite scene, please.

Ed .... A big thanks for restarting the January thread. .... Your request is an example of how we should make requests..... Requests should be easy for others to have a suitable photo . I think the rules should say that. People should not request obscure, hard-to-find items.

I also suggest the rules say "If a person does not include a request, then the preivious request is stll in effect."

One of my favorite scenes is Standing Falls with a covered bridge.

Please show another favorite scene.

I don’t really have a favorite scene but I do like seeing my vehicles lit up in a night scene.
