Just to add this in, the vast majority of all fuels today are transported via pipelines to the various storage facilities. Certian areas of the country were water ways are present, barges and verious sized tankers are used. Not sure if the RR still does or not. An assumsion would be YES, but on a very limited basses. I'd say trucks do most of the overland delivery, and they would be limited to there local areas.....Jamie

Yes, but not to local wholesalers, only between refineries and large tank terminals. Local wholesalers were out of the rail business when I went to work for the PRR in 1962!

Is a wholesale gasoline dealer business OK for a modern RR? Do the railroads still haul gasoline and oil?
How about NS or CSX?
