 I visited a favorite local Hobby shop, which is going to remain nameless for this Subject, and noticed they had eight Lionel Challengers and at least five or more of the Veranda's in stock. I asked what he was going to do with them, and he said he would have to eat them. I have never had a Veranda or Challenger for lunch, so I would guess he was referring to losing money on them just to get rid of them. I really feel for the local shops that purchased the Lionel models early on and keep them in stock until Lionel bailed. I for one feel Lionel should buy the unsold engines back and not cause local shops to lose money on the stock they took from Lionel in good faith. We as modelers could help the Local Dealer that we depend on by emailing Lionel about this situation. This particular dealer sells a lot of the big Lionel products and should have to lose money on any Lionel items. I need the local shops to be interested in this hobby and hope some of you will feel the same way. Don't get me wrong, I still purchase from Ebay and several shops that advertise on the WEB, but the local dealer is very important to my interest. Please consider email Lionel even though it probably will not help. I would like to them to know we are a very large group of modelers that look out for each other and the dealers that serve us.
