What you have is a Rapido coupler and a Micro Train coupler.

Choices:

Replace the Micro Train coupler with a Rapido.

Or the best choice

Replace the Rapido with a Micro Train coupler.

This is easy to do since all you do is switch out the Rapido truck/coupler for a MT truck/coupler.

Probably wondering if the two are in any way compatible. The answer to mthat is no. To be used with cars with the Micro-trains couplers the cars that have Rapido couplers must have those couplers removed and Micro-trains couplers installed.

The coupler at the top is what I have on most all cars but cannot keep connected. Is the bottom coupler better and how can I change couplers as one is with the truck and the bottom one is not.

What's the problem?  Just showing a photo explains nothing.
