Well, we had a lot of rain move through here. but no lightning, or thunder amazingly enough. we got caught in it coming back from the Pulmonologist adn the hospital.
MIL- SHe went home yesterday with hospice BUT had to be readmitted this early morning...COntinued PRAYERS would be appreciated..even if they are only for her safe,pleasant passing at this point... MOH says has resigned self to her passing, we will see...
Well, we are looking into a modular to be put over a MRRing space!!!!!!!, if we can get the lot we like for the price we want and the modular and taxes is a reasonable mortgage abouts to what our lot rent is...may get that accomplished! It will take a year or two though.Prayers for THAT too, please, not that we are greedy...you know...
well I had a migraine yesterday and today am "hung over' from the medication to take it away. Spent most of yesterday sleeping it off.

I got my Apple disk drive today. It worked right out of the box but the write protect function didn't work. I opened it up, located the trouble and fixed it. Now it works properly.

Well today I put a couple of small details on one of the F3's. One of those is a step between the pilot and the engineers side cab ladder.The Apple disk drive I worked on earlier had just a very small problem. One of the wires that goes from the write protect switch to the board had come loose, shaken loose in shipping probably. While reattaching it I added a toggle switch that allows me to turn the write protection on and off. When on the drive can write to the disk only when the write protect notch on the disk is open. When that notch is covered the disk can't be written to. When the switch is turned on the write protection is turned off no matter what, even if the disk has no notch, allowing the drive to write to the disk no matter what.Time for me to call it a night. see y'all tomorrow.

Galaxy, you gotta keep in mind that my car was used when I bought it, and was a 2007 (I think that's right, I don't keep up a lot on car model years - might need to talk with CudaKen for verification on that. How's he been, by the way?). How long have you been looking to replace your vehicle? Besides, I figure in mine in the next few months (or maybe another year?), I may need to get a newer car to replace it. I replaced two tires in the past month, and another one needs replacing as well (along with the right side ball and joint...). It has almost 70,000 on it, but if it keeps finding things to break, that may be a problem. We'll see (for either/both of our respective vehicles).
Oh, any of you with iDevices (the Cupertino kinds), you may want to take your time before upgrading to iOS 7(.0.2). I upgraded my iPod Touch, and am not sold on it - but I found out that you can't "downgrade" to iOS 6 anymore once you go to 7... Luckily, I did not upgrade the old iPad 2 (and I'm keeping it full, since so long as it doesn't have space to download the 7.x update, I can stay with 6.1.3 on it). I suspect that it, being older, may not run 7 as well as the iPTouch does (and I'd really like a mix of the features, somewhere without the spareseness and way-too-skinny typeface on 7 (I like 6's typefaces better), but with some of the features of 7 (I like switching apps in 7 - a bit fewer steps)). I may eventually give in on the iPad2, but I'll hold out as long as possible - hopefully, until Apple will get a better blend of features vs. spartan-ness in a later edition of 7... (Yeah, right!)
And G, you're right - the matchmaking sites are not perfect, but I figure a big part of that has to do with 1) My living in an outstate (not quite rural) area, as opposed to a more urbanized area. And with the websites, I get some starting information about a woman, whereas at one of those 'singles mixers', I'd know a lot less to start out checking. In the past, I did have two eHarmony matches, who turned out to be women I knew from church already (one had some weirdness in her taste on movies, and the other was interesting, but not-so-interested in me, which is a hazard of dating in general). Besides, I figure that there is One wiser than me, who's over the whole process anyway, and I trust that He can bring her from around the world if she is "the one" for me... It's a process (and not a Polaroid one, either - for those who recall Polaroids).

Seems I recall BridgeTom's cats took a while to warm up to the newcomer (trying to think - was that Oof-Dah the Norse Warrior?). Anyone heard from our California Tom lately? I think it had been a while, the last time I had been in the Diner.
Maybe Ray can give you some tips, as he has had multiple cats in the house, so I'm sure at some point he dealt with some of that, Garry. And speaking of you, Ray, did the storms miss you and your son's place(s)?

I did play the (Infocom) Apple II game of it, which I recall hearing wasn't completely like the book (but their games always had some quirky humor to them). Paul, I'd love to see pics of your Con-Cor theatre - that one's likely made from (well-worn) old Revell dies, since Revell originally made the kit. I'm not sure if I have that kit; I do know I have the Barn and other structures kit from Revell (bought off deBay). Besides, I have the W-S Jug Band figures, too.
V8 Dennis - We had about mid-70's today, after mid-40's last night. It felt warmer than that, but hard to tell, after the rainfront that moved through here couple of days ago (and bothered Ray & G's areas yesterday/today). Supposed to be in the mid-70's for the next couple of days (with the evening lows starting to creep up into upper 50's by Thursday night). Around here, I could use your push broom to sweep the acorns off the front walk in front of my apartment building - I'm sure the local squirrels (the 4-legged furry ones, that is) have been happy!

Barry, I'm guessing that mixing panel of yours may be a little expensive to replace (knowing your - approx. - musical skill level); the flat screen definitely will(!). [ouch] You got me thinking some, as my (tube-type) TV has been a bit flaky and showing its age over the past several weeks, so I've been debating what size I can afford to replace it with in a flat-panel. May need to calculate in a new surge protector. Is your power coming in on above-ground lines? Ours comes in underground, which I'm hoping diverts some possible surges into the surrounding ground/boxes rather than coming inside (or is that wishful thinking...?).
I didn't get to w**k today - had a combination of lower-right back (muscle, I think) pain, and (moreso) a killer headache this a.m. I called in sick, as I couldn't see me focusing very well at all in the office, and slept (couple of times) lasting until about noon. I had to go get something to eat, because (it was payday) I didn't have much at all for lunch, and also was out of something to fix for dinner (unless I thawed out some frozen chicken, uh, white meat...). My headache was pretty much gone, but my back pain wouldn't have been good to deal with at the office. I got money orders for a couple of bills and some cash at the credit union, then got lunch and groceries (always want to do those in *that* order...), paid rent, tithes, and took the money orders (to the mailbox for two, and one to the storage place), and came back home. My back was not feeling good, with all the moving around (getting into, out of, back into the car...). My back is feeling better tonight (I also picked up some Naproxen/Aleve when I got the groceries - toughest pain med in my house now). Hate to think of the pain I know that some of you Diners deal with daily.
Over last weekend, I also "downgraded" my laptop (had moved it to OS X 10.8.5, but found that for my MBP, it messes up the WiFi connections) - went to my last Time Machine backup (which turned out to be 10.8.3), then re-installed the 10.8.4 Combo update. Fun times - when I do that, the system thinks all of my apps I've downloaded (other than from the Mac App Store) are new, and the first time I go to open the app asks me if I want to authorize it to run - Duh-yeah!). But I think I have most of them 'authorized'. Still trying to finish moving all my remaining AppleWorks documents into something (Pages, Numbers, Keynote) that will open under 10.8. THEN, I can proceed to write my rules for automating labels and folders in Mail under the new system (which is different from on the older partition.

Jim: my minivan is a 2006 with 67K on the clock, and will be paid off in 15 payments{5 years total}. MOH's is my OLD minivan {to put the high mileage on the older vehicle} and is a 1998 with 175K miles on it, and is the typical "caravan rust bucket" for that particular model style. {Our neighbors have an 02 and hers is actually more rusty than ours}. . By the time we get a 3 year loan paid off for the new one to replace the 98,, the 06 will be 12 years old too, so it will need to be replaced, or at least think about it, I am sure.
i tried some early versions of online dating before MOH, and found 1] the people were NOT as they represented themselves 2} that they would often NOT show up as appointed time 3} LIED through their eye teeth about things and stuff 4} OFTEN, the only ones suitable to me WERE outside my general city area or in other ciities. I had to think: am I willing to move THERE if we hit it off and I am asked to do so? Just in case they won't move here. Jim- They eat other things as well. Girl I dated eons ago looooved pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers, steaks, seafood, schnitzels you name it. Beauty about her was, if she could get it in her mouth, she ate it. And no, they don’t require rice at every meal which, by the way could be 4 or 5 times a day so ….even though they may not really look it, a 98 pounder could probably eat her weight in food in a week. At least it seemed so.

No specific plans for today. Waste of time. Like yesterday, through a series of unrelated events, I got nothing done I’d planned othern the Church stuff. I did go to Lincoln and got the oil changed in the truck though. 30 years as a mechanic and now I don’t even change my own oil. Before I wouldn’t think of having someone do it . Now, it really isn’t worth the time and hassle to do it myself for what it costs for the dealership to do it. Yes the dealership. IF something goes wrong and not saying it will, it’s easier to deal with a dealership than another company. Been there done that. Well not me, someone I knew though. By the time things are added up, I figure about 10 bucks. That’s what it costs me over and above what I would pay if I did it myself. Now considering it takes me 5 or 6 months to accumulate the mileage….for say 10 bucks, it isn’t worth it to me.

Zoe, I'll have a couple scrambled eggs, bacon, wheat toast and lots of dark roast coffee to get me going this morning.
Got up this morning, gave Blakie his pills, then took my blood sugar. It was 155!!! I went and took a shower and made my (Dark Roast) pot of coffee and then took it again. 125... Better but still higher than I like it. Had breakfast, and went to take my own meds... I found out why it was high this morning. never took my meds after dinner last night. Wonderful!
Sun has made an appearance this morning. Nice after the last couple days of gloom. Manét threw up on the side of the bed in the middle of the night last night... I had to get up and clean it up as best as I could at 3AM. Went back to bed and slept on the other side from where he had his "accident". I am washing the blanket at the moment and will be doing the sheets as soon as I put the blanket in the dryer... Get my permanent crowns out in this afternoon. Have to juggle some times around to make the trip to Canandaigua to feed the boys up there.

Good morning. It's 63° with 74% humidity. The high will be 78° and will feel like 83°.Well today I'll be putting an end to and argument my father and I had this morning about my weight. He says I weigh more now than I did just after my surgery. I weighed 255 then. After he left to go do some things he needed to do in town I had my step mother get out her scale. She weighed herself first as we both know her weight and it was right on the money. Then I stood on it and it stopped at 240. I weigh LESS than I did after my surgery, not more. Fifteen pounds less. Then I double checked that by using HIS scale. It too stopped at 240. My step mother is a witness to both readings so now we both have something to beat him over the head with. It also gives me another chance to tell him that before he starts telling others how to manage their life he better make sure his room is clean too.No plans for today except for that above.

Jim, I have two good friends from college who met their wives through computer dating, so long ago that they didn't have "online" anything yet. I'm not sure if they put the data on punchcards, but it might have been that long ago. So, there are definitely some success stories there.
Paul, I need a pretty good reason to drive 50 miles. We do have more stuff closer around here, though, but the tradeoff is that my 15-mile commute home takes 30-40 minutes most afternoons. Our daughter is about an hour and a half away now. If she were closer, SWMBO would be dropping in "for a visit," and I don't that that would work.

Been away a while. Took a sabbatical after my best half took that last train ride to the here after. Boy that one derailed me for a while. Well there have been some improvements of late. Our house of worship had their annual fund raiser for missions ( we raised almost 500k for the next year) and as part of that my daughters class theme was - you guessed it trains. So I built a little 4x8 layout with an MTH K4 complete with smoke and sound and let them run it during their display time . It was a big hit. I was surprised by how many women stopped by and would just stare. Invariably commenting "my dad used to have trains I loved them and him : ). I was not surprised by the children who would stop and watch for an incredibly long time. They loved it to.
On another front I have met a lady who may be worth getting to know better. She helped me set of the train table for the mission conference and went with me top the Greenberg train show and best of all bought me a $500 smoking hot engine !! Yea. Sorry guys she is not available. I am saving for the ring now.

Garry, Not much news from this end --- I'm still playing the waiting game. I have had an Ultra-sound, a Cat scan, a Biopsey, an EKG and two blood test, but now the plastic surgeon says that he wants a MRI before he starts to perform. And that's what I am now waiting for. The mass is growing and putting more pressure on my ear, jaw and throat. Thankfully it is not REAL painful but what pain I have is just annoying at this time. There Garry, that tells you where this long wait is at.
Cape Jim, You were asking about my Son, He sold his mobile home and made some money on that, although that is a story in itself. I helped him move from Springfield, Mo. to Billings, Mt. where he got a position as a Human Resources Consultant, (there is two of them) for a large youth detention and training center. He is enjoying being back in the mountain and prairie air, and he really likes his position and they have found great accommodation at a reasonable cost so they really feel blest.
Railroad wise, not alot, but, the little campground at the west end of the north section (mountains) is taking on a life of it's own and really looks like it belongs there. It will improve again when I get the highway and trail into it in place. It has a couple of travel trailers and two families that are tenting already in place, so it looks like business will be good there.
Yougottawanta, I'm very sorry to hear of your wife's passing, a good friend of mine here just lost his wife as well (cancer). She fought it for about eight years, but it finally got the best of her. But it sounds like you are in a good place now and I am happy for you in that regard.
I am at work today and will go and see the Sawbones again after work to get the update on the EKG and latest blood work then we will be going out for supper with my third son and his wife and my grandson as well as his wife's Mother who is visiting here this week. Todd, this will be to our favorite Greek restaurant, no egg fu young tonight. and no nice oriental waitresses that have such beautiful complexions as you describe. But the food is Great or is that Greek.

I tried to get MOH signedup/logged into the system for the health care exchange. IT CRASHED just as we were about FINNISHED! Now the site's URL 's are "unavailable" GRR. It took about 1hour and 20 mins to do so and now is crashed!
Grr.
I will wait til tomorrow to try again.

Yay! Finally able to get in while on a stable wifi
just got caught up. Wonder what the issue was THAT prevented us from getting in the other day... I'm in NC on vacation this week. It couldn't have come at a better time. I'm tired, worn down and needed the break from w**k. Glad too be able to get in and hang out with friends here!
i recently re-discovered "How to Build More Layout in Less Space". It has inspired me to rethink how to build my NH&I layout. Now to find the box THAT I packed all my layout design material in...

Jim, yeah we lucked out in NYS. No horror stories on the weather. Did get a half inch of rain we didn't need.
Johnboy, hope the surgery gets done soon. Doesn't sound like a fun problem to have to put with. I'll keep you in my prayers for a quick and complete recovery.
I'm sitting here typing while the printer is churning out cover copies for the Booklet from the reunion. Good to finally be in print and soon it will be finished! Some time next week we should be getting together to assemble, and mail them out.

Sam ... If you are planning a layout, I have 2 general suggestions. Design the construction so you can possibly move the layout so it can be moved without destroying it. Does not mean portable, but just means if it must be moved at a later date, you can keep most of it. ..... The other is to build in small sections one at a time. For my layout, I keep building sections along a wall. Each section gets everything (track, buildings, scenery, etc.) before building the next section. ...

Spent some time working on the Mikado Project today. The boiler is all detailed out, except I'm short 2 brass handrail stanchions and I need a new pilot truck. Other than that its ready for paint.
Started working on a DCC/Sound installation for my LHS. Now I know why they wanted somebody else to do it. Someone started the install..and,,,let me say this much.....Rube Goldberg would have been proud....No wonder the 1st guy quit when they smoked the 1st Tsunami! I'll take my time, and bill accordingly.

Garry,, Flip the bird.. I have to remember that one. My son has had a few pet birds. I only had 1 pet bird when I was young,,,,a pet crow.....did I ever tell ya we wuz a bit redneck? Oh and don't worry about the cats. When we got Tink she hissed and spit at Midnight, and they tormented and teased each other for a bit. Then one day I walked in on them curled up together in an easy chair. They are best buds now.

Aside from Shay #6 which is at Cass, 202 is the only surviving Western Maryland Steam engine, presented to the children of the City of Hagerstown Md back in the late 50's.
