Evening gang!
Flo, can you just pour that coffee right into my eyes please?
Was a nice , cool, abit a little wet today. Who am I kidding, pavement went from dry, to monsoon conditions, then back to dry as I was out and about today. Needed some detail parts,,,had to drive 100 miles and 2 stores to get em, and I still need ashpans for the one steamer I am building. I guess you will have this if you want more than RTR stuff!
Ray, Midnight is such a bad traveler that SWMBO now does his diabetes monitoring every 3 months at home. She has to take blood from his ear every 2 hours for 12 hours, test him with a human meter, and record the readings. Normal blood sugar for cats is 150-200. Thankfully he was right there last weekend, no change in his medication. Now though we have a mobile vet in the area.We may give them a call next time he needs to see a doctor!
Inch prayers for your Stepdad.
Swmbo is ringing the dinner bell, catch y'all later!

NCE über alles!
Been a busy day around here so far. I woke up a little before 7:00 this morning when the temperature was around 60°. So I figured I would get an early start with the 5 loads of laundry that needed done. In between loads I managed to get the front and back yards mowed and edged. Also trimmed up some hedges that were getting a little wild. It's around 75° now, bright and sunny. I'm thinking a nice cold shower will feel pretty good right about now.
Thinking about driving up to North East, PA some morning this week. It's outside of Erie and there's a nice little rail museum there. It's a good spot to watch CSX as well. They recently had an engine donated to them by Norfolk Southern, so there would be something new to see as well. Not sure about this little jaunt, we will have to see.
Hope everybody has a good day...

Morning All,
Currently it is 65 with an expected high of 94.
My back is feeling better, and it is a good thing as I w**k today and then a meeting afterward.
Hot August Nights starts in full swing today, so the store should be busy, but not a lot of buying I don't think. Most of these folks are interested in cars, and noy so much shooting and hunting. Hot August Nights is an automobile event, lots of old cars and trucks, with show and shine's, cruises' live music with some well known bands, the Beach Boys have made several appearances over the years.
Prayers to all in need.

Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, yep, I'm up early this morning, had to take Manét to the Vet for his annual check up and vaccination. I'll have a short stack of blueberry pancakes with maple syrup, and a pot of dark roast coffee to get me awake.
Last night I got out the cat carrier to take Manét this morning. Both cats promptly disappeared for a while. Didn't get ant sleep last night as I had a complete blood work up done on Manét so he needed a 12 hour fast. Both cats can be very insistent on keeping me awake when they are hungry! Vet spent quite a bit of time listening to Manét's lungs. I was starting to panic when she took so long.... She says, "normally cats make very little sound when breathing", now I'm really panicked! Then she adds he is making no sound sound so I think he is fine! Whew!!! She thinks the coughing may well have been an allergy to mold and mildew.... Guess I have to get to work on the basement. I'll know the results of his blood work in a few days.

GOOD TUESDAY MORNING!!!
Today is Tuesday, July 6th, 2013!!!
MAKE it a GREAT DAY!
Oh, that's a bunch of 'Horse Feathers'!!! SO:
Meaning:
Rubbish, nonsense
Origin:
It should be noted that horses DON'T actually have feathers! This term, which was originally the single word horsefeathers, is now also widely written as two words, is of American origin and its use is largely restricted to the USA. Those from other parts of the world may know the term from the Marx Brothers' 1932 film 'Horse Feathers', in which Professor Quincy Adams Wagstaff (Groucho Marx) is unwisely appointed as the president of Huxley College.
Horsefeathers, which is said by J. E. Lighter's Historical Dictionary of American Slang to be a euphemism for horse-puckey, is reported as being coined by the comic-strip artist and writer, William Morgan "Billy" de Beck. The authoritative journal 'American Speech' printed this in their December 1928 issue:
"Mr. William De Beck, the comic-strip comedian responsible for 'Barney Google,' assumes credit for the first actual use of the word horsefeathers".
Billy de Beck was the author of the popular cartoon Barney Google, which frequently featured dialogues with a horse - his sidekick Spark Plug. He also created a short cartoon film called Horsefeathers, which appeared in US cinemas in 1928.
The term began life in the late 1920s. At that time the American etymologist Leonard Zwilling published an annotated dictionary of the work of the cartoonist T. A. Dorgan (a.k.a. TAD) - A TAD Lexicon. In part 46 of that work, published in 1927, we have the first citation of horsefeathers in print:
"The cashier's department - Bah - Horsefeathers. He wouldn't give you a ticket to see Halley’s Comet."
Both Dorgan and de Beck used jocular language and are credited with new coinages; for example, gate-crasher (Dorgan) and heebie-jeebies (de Beck). Either could plausibly have coined horsefeathers. It seems likely to have been brought to the public via the popular media as it appears many times in print soon after 1927, which indicates a rapid and widespread take-up that isn't common for phrases that spread by word of mouth
HORSEFEATHERS, I SAY! It's a bunch of bonk!

Good Evening...Basically was a good day here...I managed to get some of the plans put together..the fun part will be wiring management. We have something like 3 20 channel patchbays to muck with ...hopefully these will be the only ones needed...but we all know how that goes, roight? The floor is going to be fun too. I need to lift the floor up by a couple of inches to get some underpadding down for the drums...too much bass reflection in one area... Well, better be off and getting some reading done...have a good night!!
Evenin' Folks!
Janie, just a cup of decaf please...
I've spent most of today finishing printing the name tags for the class reunion. Now I will have a couple class members stop by and help me laminate and assemble to clips to them. they can also help check to be sure i didn't make any dumb mistakes... Granddaughters were over for about an hour this afternoon. first thing the two of them decide to get out Thomas the Train. they actually played together for quite a while with it with no problems. Then they wanted to see Papa's trains. So to the basement we went. #1 was not happy I didn't have them able to be running yet! Little one was fascinated by some of the scenery I have been doing and was being very careful. Then we went out to the garden to find some vegetables to send home with them. they helped me pick some peppers, yellow squash, and a big zucchini that were all taken home with them. Of course then they discovered the pile of dirt and had to play "King of the Hill" for a while getting quite dirty in the process. We did have fun!
Tomorrow first thing in the morning Manét goes to the vet for a complete check up. I am having him get a blood test as a base line since his brother and litter mate is diabetic. He has not been coughing for a few days, ever since the air conditioner has been off.... I'm thinking he may be allergic to the mold and mildew in the house. I cleaned the bathroom and gave it good shot of 50% bleach water. I've been better myself, so I hope that is all the coughing was with the little guy. Keeping my fingers crossed!
Have a great evening! Prayers for everyone. No exceptions!
I had the Mitac drives apart today for inspection, cleaning, repair and tightening of anything loose. I gave the shells a nice coat of silver metallic paint. The paint covers three decades of scuff marks. The drives work flawlessly and now they look as good as they work. I still have two more items coming in the mail. An 80 column/64k memory expansion card that's coming from Indiana and a 2.5 foot Disk II drive cable that's coming from Bulgaria. Well I got my exercise today. I packed three fifty-five gallon cans of trash out to the roadside, one can at a time. After the third can I was coming back up the driveway real slow. That was enough for today.Well it's time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
Burlington Northern #24 Lehigh Valley 2089 Hey guys. Tired right now. Sore in the legs now actually. However, I'm still feeling pretty good despite this. As far as the game goes, I'm noticing that the more "experience pilots" are sore losers. What seems to happen is that if someone collides with them, they accuse the other pilot of intentionally ramming them. Also, if you fire on a plane that they are chasing (to force a mistake or help your ally out) they just accuse you of trying to steal their kills. Unfortunately I have no way of choosing who I fight with, so I just try to ignore them and focus on the task at hand. I hate poor teammates, absolutely hate them. I had to put a fellow in his place one time because he was doing more whining than fighting.

I've dealt with people that will intentionally steal kills. As in I have a guy just about to go up in flames and I'm lining the final shot, then it gets swiped... I don't complain, I just take one back lol
Ebay has been going well. Since I've listed the stuff, I've made almost $120. I maybe should have put a higher price on that plow though...
I spent today trying to get more keys for my car. I broke 2 today. I got new keys from ace, and stuck some stuff to my locks so I'm not putting all the leverage on the key. I got home, mowed the lawn, then worked on my trains. I had marked the MDC thrall gons that were rubbing with a sharpie on the underside. Turns out they all had Walther's wheelsets. I changed them out for P2K ones and no more rub. I used the walthers in a bunch of athearn BB covered hoppers.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Got the two Mitac disk drives. One worked right out of the box with no problems. The other one would just sit there spinning the disk with no other signs of life. Well, that's about what I expected for $10. I chased the problem down and found that the controller board for the motors was bad. I had another board just like it on an Apple drive but there's some soldered wires that have to be taken off then resoldered and I really didn't feel like doing that. So I considered my options. Here I had a drive with a bad motor controller. I had an Apple drive chassis with a bad control board. The solution was obvious. I put the Mitac control board on the Apple chassis and viola, it worked. I had a good drive. It was a simple matter to remove the Mitac chassis from it's case and install the Apple chassis in it's place. It was a perfect fit. The drive has been tested and is working perfectly! On the outside it looks like any other Mitac drive. Same story inside until you look closely at the data sticker on the chassis and see Apple. So as I look at it I have two new disk drives. A Mitac and a Miple. The Mitac drives are on the left (obviously). On the right (top to bottom) are a Franklin Ace 10, an Apple Disk II and a Quentin AP-100 (I think. The label is gone).
Jeff: What day is the surgery on your foot? its soon right?
Haven't been in for a few days, actually closer to a couple weeks now. The weather has been cool that's for sure as when I go for a my early morning bike rides I have to wear a thin long sleeved shirt. I have been doing alot of bike riding lately and haven't done much work on the layout, summer time is when the railroad doesn't see alot of work done on it or any model railroad project for that matter. But as we get closer to fall I start doing maintenance on things and start again planning things to do for over the winter.
Well I have to go clean my bike chain and give the bike a good wipe down. Also have a couple mountain bike magazines I want to look at.
Have a good day guys
This site has been up and down so many times the last couple of days my eyeballs are starting to bounce. Somebody give me a string. I feel like a flippin' yo-yo.
Zoe, I'll have a short stack of blueberry pancakes with NYS Maple Syrup and a side order of bacon please. Oh Yes, of course I want my dark roast coffee. Use my FGLK Mug please.
Jeffrey, good to hear you thinking about the layout!
Currently 67°F under mostly sunny skies here in the Finger Lakes. Predicted high will be 72°F later this afternoon. Hopefully another day I will be able to leave the air conditioner turned off. I will be printing out the name tags for the class reunion today. Also babysitting my granddaughters for about an hour this afternoon while my son goes to the dentist.
I have some cleaning and picking up to do before the family arrives!
Later!
The humidity here is so high it sounds like it's raining inside the a/c unit. Feels like it's 96 outside right now. I still have to pack out the trash too. Just checked postal service tracking and it looks like the two Mitac disk drives I bought are both arriving today. One came from Ohio, the other from California. I'll check the California shipment just to see if it has one of those 'This item contains something or another that's known to' blah, blah, blah. I seriously doubt it. It would be a laugh though if it did. I was just looking at my layout and wondering how long it'll take to construct a new park area that's big enough to hold the track that will cross it. Of course that'll have to wait until I'm back on my feet, quite literally. It doesn't hurt to formulate some kind of plan though.
Well, it's been a quiet weekend in Lake Wobegon.....
SWMBO is still in Florida, so I'm cooking and eating what I want, which is probably not very good for me. Saturday night was a rib-eye steak, baked sweet potato and corn, whlle Sunday was broiled sea scallops over linguini ala carbonara, with a big salad and garlic bread. Of course, each meal was accompanied with an appropriate wine. For this week, anyway, lobsters are $3.99 a pound. I might have to make myself one.
The weather has been delightful. High 70s to low 80s, 50s and 60s at night, mostly sunny. It looks like the rest of this week will be the same. I got out for a bicycle ride yesterday, and ate both of those fine meals outside on the deck.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Coffee and some Egg Fu Yeung please. Thanks.
A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82.
I guess I live my life too carefree for most. There sure are a lot of people who are sticklers about things on a specific day. Another subscription thread about specific delivery for the magazine. I really enjoy the mag. And I realize after waiting a month for an issue it’s usually read in about an hour tops, so it’s a long 3 to 4 weeks but …..
John- Good luck on the busy week and with the “Girl from Texas”….kinda has a nice ring to it dontcha think?
Welp, today is bookw*rk at the Church day then I have to close off a duct at the restaurant, then weather permitting, I must remove a large amount of scrub around the yard at my home.
Good MorningWe got down to 45 here...mmmmm....could Fall be around the corner so early? ??Since we are having a somewhat statutory/not quite stat holiday a lot of grocery stores etc are closed but not other stores....Doing some of the planning stuff today...need to measure out the space at the Lair of Doom...think that may be just the name for that studio as well, lol!!Anyhow...have a good one!!
Good morning. It's 76° with 100% humidity. It already feels like 87°. The high will be 98° and will likely feel like 110°. The forecast says there will be plenty of sunshine.Only plan for today is to clean the place up a bit. Trash needs to go out and clutter needs to be thinned out. Other than that I won't be doing much.
