Good morning. It's 53° with 61% humidity. It'll be sunny with a high of 72°.

I'm not feeling good this morning. Yesterday I was feeling like my bones were frozen and I still feel that way. I just can't get warm no matter what I do. I have the heater set on high and even sitting next to it doesn't seem to make a difference. But I do feel stronger than I did yesterday so maybe this is going to pass quickly.

I may do some more work on the rotary plow today. There's also an Atlas signal tower that's begging to be put together. Another kit I have sitting here is a Black Bart Mine metal kit. I don't know when I'll be able to start on that. It should be a challenge.

Actually it's my nieces yard. My father just lives in the house that's there. What I meant by 'it's not mine' is that it's not my wedding that's being held there. Perish the thought of THAT ever happening!

Morning All,

Went out this morning and ordered a folding top for my truck bed so we can keep suitcases in the back and not get them wet if it rains. It will be installed on Friday. We leave on Saturday-nothing like waiting to the last minuteWhistling. Plans for tomorrow are to drive to the coast and go to Patrick AFB for the Exchange and Commissary.

I finished putting down the trees and scenic details in the area I was working on. I will post a pic later.

Jerry- I am sending prayers and healing thoughts to you and your family on this very sad occasion.

Hope everyone has a good day and prayers for those in need.

I have lit {I lighted?} an extra prayer candle for Sallie and Jerry.

Well already went off to the grocery store. MOH wanted some stuff to which I said "get it after you get done working"..I was very strongly reminded that MOH's "brain will be fried and won't remember and will only want to get out of the store when done working" so I went to get the stuff. Early to avoid the crowds like I do. I asked for a carry out as I often do, at the beginning of my transaction. THE cashier waited until the transaction was done before enquiring if there was someone to do a carryout. {??} Then after a 5 min wait I decided to go myself and struggle. {By the time I am done and with heavy stuff like waters,my back has had it}  SO the manager came out chasing me down to "carry out" me. He was apologetic about it and said he was sorry I had to start myself.

Well now for a few dishes and some laundry..just one load. Should run the vacuum....

We got a new wireless mouse to replace the DELL one that was clicking stuff we didn't want clicked and not clicking what we did want clicked. It would double or triple click things even with only one click. SO now we are "modernized with a wireless mouse.. It's a Logitech mouse, a M185. Whatever that means its not a part number that is different. MOH called yesterday from the store and said "which one do I get?" "there is a M95 {?} a M185 {Which we got} and a M300{?}." I said pick the one number that is in the middle as I don't know what it means as ong as it has the scroll wheel in it!? So it works.

Oh...don't get low lumens LED light bulbs on the yellow spectrum..too dim we found out the hard way! Sam's had them in a 2 pack at a nice price of about $20, and I thought with the battery lantern we have is 35 lumens and very bright, so the 85 lumens would be enough,,, but NO! they are NOT. WHY is it every time they switch bulb types they change the rating for light emitted??? SO get the high lumens bright white spectrum bulbs if you want good light to light your house with! We returned those and go the mouse instead!

Dinner will be steak/beef of some kind..MOh's favorite...MOH was "fed to much chicken and fish" as  child, so likes beef...I got some marked down because it expires tomorrow...and will use it tonight for special dinner as it is MOh's first "full" day at work! I D hope MOh remembers its a 10 minute break, not a 15-er today they only give 10 minutes, not 15. DOn't have to actually give any, but 10 is better than none. Don't need to get caught on a long break the first day!

Well, I should get to putting in my new Hawaiian music/chant CDs and get to the housework.

  Morning All,

Currently 51 with an expected high of 75, under partly sunny skies.

Gave the engine house a second and final c0at of paint last night. Will install the windows doors and roof details later today, then install it on the layout.

I am needed at my daughters today (actually my TRUCK is needed) to take yard clippings to the local landfill. Once a year Carson City has a free pass to use the landfill, so people save a lot of stuff for when they get the pass.

She wants to go shooting, but I have way too much to do to here at home. so I will bring her some ammo. I just ask for the empty casings so I can reload them.

Jake several years ago, aformentioned daughter was in a similar program. It was quite intense. The day of the program, every 15 minutes a student was pulled out of class by the Grim Reaper. As a parent of one of the students who was "killed" a Nevada Highway Patrol officer came to both my and my wifes place of work to tell us our daughter was in an accident. Although the whole thing was staged and everyone involved knew it was staged, it was very emotional. That year, there were no fatalaties of students on the weekend of the Senior Prom. Excellent program. I hope you learned something from it.

    Prayers to all in need.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of buttermilk pancakes and a side of bacon along with lots of dark roast coffee to start the day....

I'm heading out to Boy Scout Camp for the afternoon.  plan to start the upgrade of the sound system out there on the dining hall.  need to make a check list of everything needing to be done, make sure we have all the necessary equipment, and plan the sequence of things to do to get it done.

Jake and Paul, they used to have a local program with the police dept., courts, and schools with the signed consent of the parents for some of our worse acting students, they got to spend the day at a high security penitentiary in a nearby city.  The program was called Scared Straight and hopefully kept more than a few of the problem kids out of jail.  I remember an 8th. grade girl who went and decided to get mouthy to a convicted murderer who was talking to the group.  He went over, grabbed the girl by the arm, shook her up.  She said, "You can't do that to me!"  He grimaced and got about an inch from her face and said, "I can't?  I'm serving two life sentences for murder, I ain't never gonna see the outside again.  You think I won't beat the $!&& out of you?  What they gonna do to me honey!!!  The guards just stood there and grinned, BTW (all part of the show.)  She started hyperventilate and cry on the spot. She was very glad to get home so she could change her clothes. Whistling  Acted quite a bit different for the rest of the school year, she did!

Best get moving.

The building with the 'water tank' is the fire dept building. I use it as a resting place for my cameras, some paint bottles I rarely use and a roll of tape because it's convenient. The other building is an engine house. It's a great location to place my glasses when I'm not wearing them. It's only one of two places where I would set them.

This morning I took receipt of two Penn Central geeps. A GP38-2 and a GP40. I wasn't expecting them until the middle of next week. Somebody must have removed the tiddly-winks games from the post offices and made thumb twiddling a crime. I also got two decoders ahead of schedule.

Now I'm feeling extremely tired again. Time to go lay down for a bit.

Afternoon guys

Today's been mostly a train day so far. I brought the ATSF SD40-2 to the club to see how well it runs. Turns out I've got it working really well, runs quiet and isn't jerky. Even better after I cleaned the wheels (I think someone oiled the track again, that stuff gets sticky). Pulls pretty decent too. When I got home I broke out the airbrush and started weathering a few cars. Turns out if I use reducer with the rustoleum that it dries pretty quick. I'm getting a bit better with my strokes when going along the car side (the last car I did looks like it's blended perfectly), but I just wish my airbrush could spray a wider pattern (i.e. the pattern would be tall ennough to cover the model in 1 pass). I'll have to ask Robby P. What he's doing for that as (or at least the last time I recall him mentioning it) I'm using the same airbrush as he is. Although I should by another jar as the cap on mine doesn't go on tight.

Jeff, Are you going to model the Penn Central? Wink

Curt, progress looks good.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

I'm now bored -did all my chores and now dinner is in the oven roasting.

MOH home in about an hour and a quarter.

The optical at Sams club just called to cancel my appointment. Seems the poor Doctor won't get a lunch if he sees me at the original time as I will need an hour appointment and he needs at least a half for lunch! SO we rescheduled for later, tough that may change again as he doesn't like to dialate eyes late in the day...though MOH has the day off and can take me. So there. Take that.

will do somehting special for sides to raosted beast. MY deserves it. Maybe Asparagus tips {have to use canned I forget to get fresh at eth store this AM.} and maybe scalloped pots...a fav of MOH.

MOH deserves a special dinner for first "full day at work" in since January 8th.

I see by called Id MOH called while I was out getting the mail...no message on the machine, so wonder what it was? I'll find out when MOh gets home I guess.

Well, I guess if Scalloped s are on the menu, best get peeling....

Can someone explain how to do a private conversation with someone?

Click on the persons screen name or profile photo. Look to the right. Start a conversation is second on the list. Click that. Now you'll see 'Start a Conversation' and a field with the persons screen name. Next is the subject line. Type in a suitable subject name. Next is the reply/post box. Type in your part of the conversation. When you finish scroll down and click 'Start Conversation'.

Been working on this old Bachmann Plus loco today. It's running great. Of course there wasn't anything it didn't need.

I'm still very tired. About to call it a day. It's 83 in here and I still feel cold in jeans and a long sleeve shirt and sweater. Believe it or not working on the loco about wiped me out. I have little energy and my arms feel like they're going to fall off.

See y'all tomorrow. Too tired to do any more.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a decaf for me please...

Curt, nice job on the rebuild!  How about a before and after shot so we can see better what was done?

I spent most of the afternoon out at camp, figuring out in my mind the best way to mount and wire the new speakers on the dining hall.  I also mounted an electrical box that will be used for another microphone plug in the middle of the hall.  The Program manager has requested there are times it would be nice to be able to have 2 mics to use.  I will need to buy about 150 feet of mic cable to do the job.  Looking at buying a new miser for the system as the old Shure Mono ones out there are running out of inputs to use, and they are awkward to use anyway.  generally the mixer is set where it should be and left alone!  Of course there are always "experts" who seem to think they should play with the knobs to see what they will do.  I replaced several outdoor PA speaker drivers before I finally put in a compressor/limiter in line to protect them.  New speakers won't need that, nor will it need a separate EQ in line.  The old PA speakers were fairly limited in fidelity.  Something like 800 Hz to 5000 Hz?

Need to get the installation up and running within a few weeks.  Also will need to find some help as I no longer climb up ladders as tall as the roof line on the dining hall....

Hope you all are ready to have a great Cinco De Mayo tomorrow.  I'm not up on the festival but hear it has something to do do with a ship containing a cargo of Mayonnaise that sunk off the coast of Mexico during a storm on May 5th.  Or something like that....Whistling

Prayers for all in need...

Thanks Jeff.

Ray- The before shots are on WPF this week. It pretty much looks the same as before but the lead coming out of the yard is 5 inches wider terminating at the TT at the same point. Now I can run my large steamers on that track giving me some more flexibility.

Good Evening, Flo - I'll have a D&RGW mug of decaf, and a hot fudge sundae, please. Thanks!

That was a bit of an unnerving video of the passenger train's loco (almost) bumping into the freight train. Is the engineer supposed to cut the engine before he jumps, since he doesn't have to "go down with the ship" (loco) like a captain of a ship? Guess that's a RR company policy vs. union regs kind of thing, eh? Whistling

Jeff, as I was watching your video, I was thinking that if you had the layout lighting set up for "night" running, that opening shot (as the train goes by Ezra's) could almost be the town's equivalent of what we called "watching the submarine races"...Smile, Wink & Grin

Garry, you fishing off your back porch at your place yet? (Hopefully NOT!) On Thursday evening, I had to park my car on the street (in front of our apartment building, and under a tree (oak, I think, but maybe not), and it rained that night (quite a bit). So, come Friday morning, all these pollen-y things had washed off the tree and were all over my car.Grumpy (and of course, that morning, I was running late for the office..Bang Head I used the car wipers to clear the windshield off and hoped for a really heavy downpour during the day while I was at w**k (didn't happen...).Sigh I think tomorrow morning I'll take the broom out with me and sweep the remainder off. Oh, and I have been parking in our parking lot at home, plus every time I go out to drive someplace, I wipe off a few handfuls of the "tree droppings" from the car.

This morning, I drove up the interstate to see my buddy Mark (and hoped that some more of the gunk would blow off the car; not much did...). We drove back to Cape G. and ate at Ruby Tuesday while we caught up some on what we've been up to since last time we got together (couple/three months ago). Ran him by Wally World to get groceries (he said his fridge & cabinets were almost bare), one other stop on the way back to his place. (He's waiting to get his license back, but it's still a ways off - makes it tough for him to get odd jobs and such).

After I got back home again, I did some MRR stuff. Sprayed a coat of white primer on some resin castings for junkyard and/or a small shed (both with bunch of clutter around the buildings. Also primed the resin casting of the  junkyard itself. I had posted photos of the unprimed castings earlier, but I'll see about some photos tomorrow with some of the painting I've done. This afternoon, I also took the silver spray can to some roofs for my Co-op Elevator roof pieces (that silver - the one that definitely needs toning down - THAT, or provide a pair of Cool for anyone looking at something I've painted with THAT silver. Yep, will need a bunch of rust, dirt and other colors to mask/tone it down...). And then tonight, I started with some washes on the junkyard and shed (using darker colors - burnt umber, etc. - that go in the crevices and cracks where there are lots o'shadows). I want to add some red-oxide in a secondary wash tomorrow afternoon, since 'CAW country' has some reddish tones to the dirt in much of the area it serves.

Ulrich, my best wishes and AngelAngel for your electioneering/campaigning for the Bundestag! Thumbs Up May you serve your constituents well. Yeah

Oh, and uh, Barry? Maybe the cardinals up your way are singing, but down thisaways, our Cardinals (the St. Louis kind) are running a streak of wins (five games in a row, I believe it is now). But I've been hearing the birdies around here singing in the mornings (not sure if the sun's even up when they start...). Whistling

Alexander - hope you have a  Cake Happy Birthday!! Cake this month (hopefully I haven't missed the actual date yet)! Have you been leaving the Walthers sale flyer open (turned to a page with a few items you had already circled) in some place around the home that your folks are sure to see? Y'know, the 'subtle' approach to 'hint' for birthday presents... Smile, Wink & Grin That, and write the name of a not-too-far-away LHS on the cover (front or back) of the sale flyer (just so they know where to get you some MRR goodies).

Vincent, you might be able to pull that trick for your  Cake Happy Birthday!! Cake too (depending on whether you can figure how to sneak it into your folks' place, without it being toooo obvious). Smile, Wink & Grin Hey, 24 is a good year, as well. Enjoy! (And has your brother always been... uh.. stupid like that? Smile, Wink & Grin)

Richard (NarrowGuageNuke) - I am SO jealous! Smile, Wink & Grin HOW did you get your doctor to tell you to eat all those things - that our doctors are telling the rest of us (the older ones, not Alexander and such) to give up? Well, more power to ya! Eat my share of that yummy breakfast, will you? Thanks! Dinner

Curt - you had some nice photos of your layout in WPF. Bow Like how you redid the turntable lead, also. Thumbs Up

Jake, hope you're feeling better by now (I'm still catching up on the posts - took me a while to find the breadcrumb trail to the new location).

I'm kinda like Ray, still trying to figure out where we are... Anybody got a GPS handy? Turn it on and let's find out where the Diner is.Huh?

Galaxy, I've wondered what a Lowbiscus looks like - got any photos of one? Whistling (And careful there - remember, those plastic cards also have a very annoying thing about sending the bill to you, and for some weird reason they expect people to pay...).Oops

Well (frogs are treading water here in Cape G. over the weekend, and their legs are getting tired...), it's about time to get ready for some Zzz's for me. Prayers for those soon-to-be-celebrating birthdays, as well as for those in need of healing, comfort, a good night's rest.. (Hmm, that last one sounds really good about now...) And I'll finish catching up some tomorrow after church.

[Edit]: Aaack!!! TOP got me again! Okay, Flo, here's my card, I'll be by tomorrow to settle up the tab). Looks like the midnight snacks (and possibly breakfast buffet) is/are on me, Diners!

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape G.

Good evening ...

Jerry .... If you are looking in we are thinking of you, our good friend. We saw the notice about Sallie jeff posted for you. Obviously, Sallie was a wonderful person. Prayers for you and your family. Keep in touch and let us know if we can do anything for you.

JimCG ...... The water is high than normal here, but I don't think it is bad as on the Mississippi River where you are.

Curt .... I really like your recent layout project. What are you using for ballast? Looks real with the dark color where locomotives are serviced.

Cheers, everybody.
