 Morning Folks

 Flo, Big Coffee Pleases.

Boy this morning is being a big pain in the caboose! Because of how the paydays fell last month I made $3300.00 and now SSI wants the cash they sent her back. But, get this! Whistling They just sent her another $331.00 paymentWhistling No wonder the state of Illinois is Broke!

Todd I am starting to think you are right about change engine manufacturer. But as a whole have had good luck with Proto's. PK 2 with the cracked gears, it is a well known problem and not a big deal. While not as well known problem, worm gear squealing is all so a common problem I believe.

Ulrich Here in the states a Politician must be able to smile, while turn a knife in someones back!

Gary, sorry to hear about your grandmother.

 Well got to run.

Another beautiful day here with temps in the mid-sixties right now, along with sunny skies and a nice breeze. It's been busy around here as well. We both woke up early this morning, so we decided to go have breakfast. The sausage & cheese omelet was good and so was the decaf. With nothing on the schedule we had a couple of extra cups of coffee. That's the thing I've always enjoyed about retirement. Just to make it up as you go along some days. Stopped at the car wash on the way home and then because it was nice and clean, decided to give it a coat of wax once we got home. Another projec completed and scratched off the Spring to-do-list. Just finished lunch which consisted of a Thomas English Cinnamon muffin. After I read the news on the internet, I'll be cutting the grass again. Just cut it 3 or 4 days ago, but it really needs it again. Hope everybody has a good one...

. I've never seen Fargo. Enlighten me please.

Near the end of the movie, the more psychopathic of the two kidnappers feeds his partner into a woodchipper.  It was a strange movie, half crime drama, half comedy.

There was also a James Bond book, back when James Bond was a series of novels and not a movie franchise, in which the action took place along a rail line in Switzerland in the winter.  There was a scene involving 007, a bad guy and a rotary snow plow.  The chapter title was "Red Snow."

I read a lot (nowhere near all) of the James Bond paper backs. I don't remember that one so must not have read it.

Been working on one of my P2K GP38-2s. After taking the cab off, I used one of the SMDs I have for the beacon, and it required some tweaking. The SMD is so bright, it turns the beacon yellow. I painted over it with Tamiya Transparent orange, and the insde of the beacon with it. Seems to tone it down and it looks orange again. Looks like 1k 1/4 ohm resistor will work fine. I'm taking a break now because I've lost the beacon 4 times now, and have had to get on the floor to try and find it. I found it this time and it's on the bench. I'm going to try to find a decent size box to work on the engine in, so the parts stay in the box. This loco has a DH163, but the rear light (yellow) wire broke off from the connector. So I'll wire it to the green wire, put the resistor in line, then stick in a 2-pin plug so I can take the shell of easily if I need to. Then I have to do it's sister unit.

I *should* be outside pressure washing the shed, but it's been raining all day.

In speaking of MIAs, where is JR?

MisterBeasley, I think that one 007 book actually made it into a movie. I'd have to ask my mom since she's seen them all.

Gary, Sorry to hear about your grandmother.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Another fabulous sunny day in the Old Dominion with a high of 70 or so.  Looks like it will hold to this kind of weather until Monday.

I'll be out shooting with friends tomorrow morning, (doin' a lot of that lately) and then reloading the cartridges I shot and finally, cleaning the guns.  Tomorrow night is dinner and a movie with the old gal and Sunday might be yard work, grass is growin' like gangbusters. Hopefully, some afternoon MR time on tap.

Good afternoon.

During school, there was a mock accident put on by SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions), and the mock trial they had after that was something that apparently left a few kids emotionaly wrung out (myself included a little, I'll admit it). What apparently happened was that one kid decided to mess around with drugs before driving. Had maybe three passengers. Their car went head on into another car. Two people were supposed to have died in it. What got me a little was the thought of some of my friends being in the same situation. As a result, I don't have much energy left. Not doing much through the day today helped.

Apparently that mock accident worked.

Aloha!

Got a new Hawaiian CD by Keali'i Reichel. It is called Collection One Kamahiwa. Listening to my favorite chants from disc 2.

We have a nice cd/dvd/CDRW player that is surround sound..sounds great , like better than if they performed them as a hula at a luau.

It's kinda fun to sing along {chant} with the phrase: Ui,Ui, 'e'e'ina ka 'oneki o lalo walawala ka pumi ma hope  {oooh-ee, ooooh-ee, eh eh eeenah kah oh-neck-ay oh lah low valah valah kah poo-mi mah hope-ay}  FRom the chant/song No Ka Moku Kia Kahi Ke Aloha. {{you Can be rest assured Spell Check will NOT like that!!!}

Have an appointment next tuesday for my eyes, so I can FINALLY get new glasses..its been 3 years, when we had the money MOH needed new ones to see at work so I got the short end of tHe stick....maybe with them I can finally see what I am typing without my eyes glued to the screen...That and read the words on TV...for awhile it helped that we had a HD tv, but not now...

So I got all laundry done and dishes and visited with our train nut fiend...

so now dinner will be late As FIL wanted to "go shopping" to "See what there is"{to buy}...so MOH went over to stay with MIL.

So that is it for now

Afternoon folks!

Janie, I'll have a tall glass of lemonade please...

The HVAC guy came over early afternoon with some recommendations for the AC I am putting in.  I decided to go with a unit that is 20fi more efficient than the original one he recommended.  Will cost me all of $360 omre and has better insides all around I guess...  At 4PM today the solar panels had already made 25+ Kwh of power so today has been another great day.  Got my Bill from NYSEG today and all I will be paying for electric for the month of April is the basic charges you have whether you use Electric or not which totals about $16.  The overage of power should be reflected on next months bill or will be held for when I once again use more electric than I produce.  Not exactly sure how it works yet as this is the first month I have produced more than I used (by about 15 Kwh).  AC should be put in sometime in the next couple of weeks as they have to find a day they can do it when they don't have a lot of emergency calls to do....

Jake, that scenario just happened in real life in Rochester a couple days ago!  Only this time there was no deaths.  A couple ended up in intensive care though.  Learn from it my friend!  We want you around here for a long, long time.

Gary, I have learned over the years that good people come in all sizes, shapes, and colors.  All ethnic groups, religions (including no religion), and all genders.  Just like bad people!  I take my beliefs on this from the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. when he said "..... but rather by the content of their character!"  I try to be a person of good character and you sound like you do too.  That said, I will keep you and your family (particularly your Grandmother) in my thoughts and prayers at this time.

Best get moving.  I am on my way to Canandaigua to have dinner at some restaurant with my sister.  She owes my dinner so I may get off the hook for my share of the bill...  It should be at her favorite Mexican restaurant.  I'm not really fond of the place, but...........  I have found something that is edible if I can convince them to get rid of the salsa.  I hate salsa!

Later!

Here's a project that's finally 'finished" for now. BN#724 with #'s in the Numberboard the little F behind the plow which finally got paint, Mu hoses front and back all I need to do is put the brake lines on, gotta get some super glue though.

Evening All,

Just finished supper. I made chicken strips with FF's and peas.

Got my truck oil changed today and took Mom & Dad out to lunch. After getting home I put ground cover down on the layout in the part that was scrapped up for the new track.

Ulrich- Sorry I forgot to tell you congratulations and best wishes on your run for MP. If you get elected at least one of our countries will have someone looking out for their country and not themselves.

Gary- I will say prayers for your Grandmother. Thank you for your kind comment in WPF. Is that a Atlas TT? With a little paint and kit bashing I think it will look as good as anything on the market. In one of the other subject lines on the forum someone did a incredible job on their Atlas TT. Sorry I don't remember where it was.

Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need.

Yes, it is an Atlas Turntable. now that you've mentioned it, I could probably bash the turntable into a prototype one I saw in my BN Diesel loco's book.

This is my "pit-bash" of an HO-scale Atlas turntable:

I did a photo-essay on the project, which our hosts have been kind enough to keep available:

http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/t/99558.aspx?PageIndex=1

It was a long and time-consuming job, but it ended up, as usual, teaching me new things.  It was built in 2007 and is still running just fine.

that's amazing Mr. B. I wo't think I was going to pit it but I was going to add railings and a light or something above it so when I'm running in the layout at night.

I'm catholic by choice. The last time I set foot in a church was back in the 80's for my younger sisters wedding to hubby #1. She's now grooming #3. That long absence doesn't make me any less a believer. Come to think of it I have a wedding to attend in June. It'll be in my fathers back yard. And no, it's NOT mine.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a refill for my decaf please...

My sister treated me to dinner earlier tonight.  Of course she needed to have me fix the mouse on her laptop, change a bulb, and install a new toilet seat for her as well.....  I did forget to bring along the pile of forms she needs to hand out for her Summer Art classes she has at her house, which was one of the reasons we were going out to dinner.  Figured it would be good to get together and she needed to have me bring the letters to her.  She could drive down to my house and pick them up but it is much shorter for me to drive to her house and back than it is for her to drive to my house and back...  Yep!  She actually told me that once and she wasn't being funny either!

I am tired after a busy day, so I'm heading to get some ZzzZzzZzz  Hope I don't keep anyone awake....  Have a great night and prayers for all in need!

Evening folks,  Flo, if you would please.....Beer..in a frosted mug.  Thanks dear.

Good to hear you survived TERRY, but that's what folks in Northern WI do, no matter the weather or the situation. I bet the wood stove was glowing.  We had solid rain down here.  I watched that "conveyor belt" of snow passing over you on the radar screen.

Nice looking pit, Mr. Beasley, I really like the stone work.

Our thoughts and prayers to you, your family and your Grandma,  BN # 24, GARY,  Grandparents seem to pass on all too quickly, as we get older.  They grew up in different times, and lived with every day situations a lot of people of today couldn't deal with.

Well, that tasted mighty fine Flo, here's something for the tip jar, and a good evening to everyone.

Good morning everybody!

It's Kentucky Derby Day! ..... Churchill Downs will be full of people dressed uo and wearing fancy hats. It's a great American tradition.. Mint juleps will be consumed. ...... The part I like the best is Kentucky Derby Pie. I love deserts of course, and derby pies are terrific.  ..... Weather will be less than ideal in Louisville - cloudy, cool, and raining. ....

Late yesterday, I worked more on the doodlebug with my friend, Gus, at his house. This was to correct issues with lighting.

Cheers!

Gary- No. I Don’t think one way or another of a person based on what they do or do not believe. Their choice. I figure and in the end one will be right, one will be wrong. If I’m right….I’ll be glad. If I’m wrong…..I won’t know nor will I know to regret a thing. And if I am right, don’t worry, I’ve never been one to gloatLaugh.  The only way you (or I) can offend is to push our beliefs on someone else.  And, like G said, shouldn’t/ can’t discuss that here anyway. I didn’t take your camment anymore than informative, not a discussion on the subject. Just like if I said I’m a Methodist so of course I like pot lucks!

Ray- I always get a kick out of your visits with your Sister. I would suggest you turn down your ears, but quite frankly…you’d miss soooo much!!Laugh

Brenda is uptown to the Community center selling ju….er stuff for the Foundation so I’m left here to attend to the second greatest event this town puts on…..All Town Cleanup!!!!!! Haul you stuff to the Township/village garage and they’ll point you to a pile or rolloff dumpster, or a combo, based on what you have. Gotta get movin.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

In order to keep my position as Master and Supreme Ruler of the House, I don't argue with my wife.

I'm a small town boy. A product of two people from even smaller towns. I don’t talk on topic….. I just talk. Laugh
