Morning All,
Currently it is 47 with an expected high of 79 under modtly sunny skies.
Yesterday moved some track on the layout that looked straight when I installed it, but may have moved or my eyes were playing tricks on me.
Worked on one gun for a customer, friend of my son, so did not charge him full price.
Sister-in-law and husband came for a visit and took me out for a late lunch, so I did not cook the spaghetti sauce, will do that Saturday.
Got served papers from a credit card company that wants to sue me for non-payment in the amount of $4982.57 When my wife passed away i told all the creditors I could not make regular payments as my income was cut drastically. I offered to make arrangements but all, except one, wanted too much money, which I do not have. Now I have to find a lawyer and check out my options. I have 20 days to respond.
Opening shift today, so I should be home in time to Skype with my son tonight.
Jeff - Congrats on 23,000 plus posts. And may I add, that almost everyone I have read are either informative or entertaining.
Prayers to all in need.

Just dropping by for a coffee break with friends!
I am loaded with w*rk and family issues. Unfortunately, my brother has decided to change his mind and fight against me again. Well, his own choice - I told him I am out of this game and he can do as he pleases with regard to my mother, how and where she will leave once being released from the hospital she now stays in. After many years of not taking care of my parents, he is now playing the good son and has assigned the role of the bad son to me. With that family, you don´t need enemies...
Party w*rk has entered the stage where I urgently need an assistant, but there is no cash for that. 16+ hours a day is getting too much for me, and my health is showing strong signs of wear.
Other than that, I am fine, but miss some time off to start w*rk on my little layout.
Prayers to those in need, blessing to all and congrats to Jeff on the occasion of post # 23.000 - I´ll never make that figure!
Out again!
That's not good, I hope that can get resolved quickly and in your favor Pascaff.
Ulrich, that's not fair that your brother does that to you. 16+ a day, do they give you guys breaks?
work on the layout is the good work right?
got class in a couple, take care everybody.
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have a short stack of Blueberry Pancakes and a side order of bacon. Don't forget the NYS Reasl Maple Syrup and my dark roast coffee in a R&GV RR mug.
Jeffrey.... 23 thousand posts.... WOW! Some people sure have a lot to say, I guess. Your posts are always interesting. Keep 'em coming!
Ulrich, good choice on the family stuff. You have done well over your share of caring for your parents, and you brother should have some, ah, quality time with your mother at this point in her life.... maybe she can go and live with him?
82°F outside the door here in the Finger Lakes at the moment with 57% humidity. I'm enjoying sitting here in the air conditioning, but need to get outside and get some stuff done. Will be taking it easy and coming in to cool down often. This afternoon I have to make some deposits at a couple of financial institutions and then stop over to the hearing center to have them reprogram the hearing aids.
Catch up to you later.

Ah yes, the joys of hearing aids. I just got my 3rd set the other day and am finding adjusting to them to be a little tough. Didn't think it would be a problem but these new digital ones with all the bells and whistles are so good at doing what they do that I'm hearing stuff that I haven't heard in years like birdsong and water running in the sink.
Guess it will just take some time to get used to those "missing sounds" again
I'm sure glad that my aids are paid for by Workers Compensation. The two aid came to just under $8,000.00 . That is one BIG chunk of money
Still raining here so I might just as well go work on the RR some.

Ulrich, my wife will soon be dealing with some issues with her parents. It's a long-distance thing, too, since they're in Florida and we're in Massachusetts. Her Dad is 96 and her Mom is 92. They still live independently in a second-story condo, right on the beach but with no elevator. Papa is still mobile, but Nana needs a walker to get around the condo and sometimes stays inside for weeks. She's "moody," but both are still relatively sharp mentally, and they've decided that they are ready for assisted living. Until now, they wouldn't even look at such facilities, and declared that they would die before they left their place by the ocean. But, now it's time, and even they realize it. I think it will be a good change for them. In the summer, there are times when there is no one else in the whole condo complex, and most of their friends have already passed on, so they'll be able to have a bit more of a social life.
My wife is heading down there in a few weeks, and this time the search for a new place will begin for real. Then, there will be details of dealing with the condo, whether to rent it out or sell it, how much fix-up to do and so on. Fortunately, her parents still have financial resources so that won't be a burden. It won't be easy for anyone, but it will be better for them once they get used to it.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Curt - Great videos of #765 at Horseshow Curve as well as the Pennsylvania RR heritage unit. I've got a pre-order in for an Intermountain PRR heritage unit. I resisting, but still thinking about ordering a Monongahela unit. The Curve is still a nice place to railfan, but it was so much better before they allowed the trees to grow so tall and obstruct the view of the approaches.
Other than the Veteran's unit, I haven't caught any of the heritage units. Everytime we go railfanning, I tell the wife I'm sure one of them is on the next train after we leave. Well last Saturday, I had to drop my laptop off for this guy to remove another virus. GRRRRR. Anyway, I had to pass the spot we usually railfan to get to his house. So we decided to railfan for a couple of hours on the way home. Stopped at a Subway for a sandwich and something to drink first and then watched trains for about 2 hours.
Sunday we go back for some more railfanning and another fellow who has been there quite often this year drove up and told me we left too soon the day before. It seems that about 10 minutes after we left on Saturday, 2 of the Heritage units were on a consist headed into Conway Yard. One was the Virginian and he wasn't sure about the other. I knew it, I just knew that's the way it was going to work out. Now I'm going to want to always stay to see just one more train.
Got my laptop back on Tuesday. Wow, I was going crazy without it. I was thinking about going out and buying another one when he called and said mine was ready. What in the world did we do before computers and the internet.
We went out to the "Mall" this morning after stopping for breakfast. I wanted to get a pair of slacks to go with a blazer that I have. That's all I wanted, one pair of slacks. Now I really don't like to shop for clothes, but every once in awhile, I must get in the mood or something. Cost me over $400.00 to get out of there today. Ended up with 2 pairs of slacks, I sport coat, 2 dress shirts, 2 ties, and I casual short sleeved shirt that looks very nice with the sport coat. It would have been a lot more, but they were havaing a great sale and I did save quite a bit. I don't wear a lot of dressy stuff these days, but there are always funerals, weddings, anniversaries, etc. If I didn't keep putting on weight, it wouldn't be such a problem. My fault, I just like to eat.
It's around 90 outside and suppose to get even higher tomorrow. We will probably go railfanning on Saturday, as Sunday we have tickets for the Civic Light Opera. I think it "42nd Street". The wife has gotten season tickets for years and we see 6 different plays every season. Although she can't see the production all that well, she really enjoys the music. She also enjoys going to a nice restaurant after the performance. It's a nice day out for her and she deserves it for putting up with me.
All that shopping and spending money has tired me out, so I guess a nap is in order. Hope everybody has a good one.

Good Evening,
Well it is still raining here and I can't even blame CDN Dennis since this one is a Colorado low.
Today our neice graduated with a Social Work degree. Hard to believe it as it seems not that long ago we were putting her in a car seat to go to MacDonalds for lunch which she loved to do. Brought back some memories of my own cap and gown time which was only 43 years ago. Yikes, that means I'm an old f**t !!!!
Well I did manage to fix that Pacific. I was right it was a tender pick-up problem. The power pick-up wire to the front truck had come un-soldered so it wasn't much to fix. I really like the sound as it is the first sound steam I've had where the chuff intensity really increases with added power and the drops off as power is decreased, just like the real thing. The QSI unit in my U2g does it to some extent but not as much as the Pacific.
I may get back to my weathering or more than likely it wil be flop time in front of the TV. My wife taped an old movie from TCM so we'll have a look.
CN Charlie
Evening guys
I'm a bit bummed out at the moment. Have been for the past few days...
Yesterday was a really, really bad day. Started with work. The previous shift just took off when I got there. Didn't it it was crazy-stupid busy. Nearing the end I was cleaning up the grill and burned my hand (really ring finger) really bad. I was using one of those plastic scrubber things and it broke and the handle rolled foward, sending my finger into the grill cleaning solution that had been on the grill for a bit. So it's like a hot grease burn... My ring finger between the 1st and 2nd knuckle got burned the worst. Most of the skin came off without me touching it... All I could do was spray it with burn ointment and cover it with a band-aid and a finger cot...
Then it got worse when going to see my sortof lady friend. I was idling in traffic when I heard a pop and a bunch of steam started coming out from under the hood. I could smell anti-freeze, so I limped it carefully to the nearest gas station. But it started overheating most of the way there and I had to pull over and dump the drinking water I had brought with me into the resivor tank. I waited for 10 minutes and started on my way, again. I kept the heater on (it was already 90 something outside...), the hood ajar, and kept in open air (not getting behind anyone) and made it to the nearest gas station... I repeated the water thing since they had a spigot and called my father. He came and looked at it, but we couldn't find where it was leaking... So he bought 2 gallons of anti-freeze and dumped them in, then I went straight home. The leak was soo bad that in the 20-mile trip I lost almost half of the anti-freeze he put in...
After work today, I took a look at the hoses. I replaced one cause it had a hole and pushed the other oone further onto the thing for it and tightened it. Then topped it off with more fluid. I ran it for 5 miuntes to see if it'd leak and got nothing... I made it to my work meeting driving but when I got almost home, it started steaming again... Looked again, and it's leaking between the timing cover and the block... After much debating with myself, I decided to try some stop-leak or whatever. The reasons being I'm going to replace the engine in a few months, it was a HUGE butt-pain to remove and reinstall the timing cover a few years ago, I'd only be out a few bucks on a sealer that is gaurenteed to work, I'd have to buy another gasket set, and did I mention it was a HUGE butt-pain... I'm gonna let the radiator cool till tomorrow after work then I'll try the sealer... If it doesn't work (I'm even praying to god, allah, and anyone else I can think of that it works and; I'm agnostic) then I'll have no car for the next few days...
On a side-note I found out why my car has no air conditioning. The header that I though bent the A/C line (note to self, BBK equal length shortys do not work with A/C in 94-95 Mustangs with 5.0s)enough to have a small hole didn't bend the A/C line. IT MELTED THE A/C LINE.... The line is melted around the header. So I have to buy new headers before I buy the A/C line, which waits for tires (waiting for a tire-rack special), etc.. ugh...
A co-worker said I should get a new car. I looked at them like they were crazy, and told them they were crazy... I just need a new engine, and tires, and headers, and an A/C line. The A/C line is like 15 bucks...
Trainwise I haven't done much. I may have just enough styrofoam and wood to finish the walther's gons... The USPS says they'll be here tomorrow...

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Vince's Sorry to hear about the motor. Funny how people will tell to get rid of a car just because it needs a new motor!
Sues SSI New's? Well they where wanting money sent back to them because she was over paid! But guess what they did today? They sent her another $420.00 and it is Not For June? I am sure that some how I will be going jail for this! If BoS was ran by SSI I would be being paid to live in the house!

Evenin' folks!
Janie, just a decaf for me right now.
Vincent, sounds like a 3rd/ degree burn... get thee to your doctor, son!
Just got an email from my Sister in Florida (The Rev.). She now knows why she hasn't been feeling well for the last several months and has been losing weight. She had a swollen lymph gland in her groin. Biopsy was positive for an invasive (metastasized cancerous tumor. Further tests show she has multiple small tumors throughout her abdominal cavity. Surgery is not an option so she will be seeing an oncologist to see what comes next... Her name is Janice, and for those who do, please keep her in your prayers.
I spent most of the day getting odds and ends taken care of. Did some MLK Committee banking, then popped over for my allergy shot on the way to the Hearing Center (next door in the same building). The tech there reset the hearing aids to the last parameters I had, and there was no improvement. Did it a again, and still no change. He was going to send them in for repair under warranty for me but then said, "let me try and clean the mics and dry them first. About 10 minutes later he came in, I put in the aids, and yep they now worked! So I left with a new and better dryer for them. I set it up tonight and my hearing aids are already in it for the night.
After the Hearing center, I drove over to Lowes East of Geneva and bought some 1 x 4 x 10' cedar boards for around the first raised bed garden. The first one is now finished and waiting for some plants to be set in it tomorrow (I hope). Have one more I hope to get done this spring. Still have to buy the 2 x 6 x 8' lumber for that one. Here is what the first two look like at the moment:
I should have a lot more done on the second by tomorrow night as well. Oh, BTW, I was able to transport the 3 boards in the PiP with no problem. The overhang was going out the passenger side front window, well wrapped in a towel with the window up just gently keeping it in place.
Have a good night all! Prayers for all who are in need! (Though most will be for my sister.)
According to USPS tracking my Varney F3B is in Shreveport as of 7:09pm. It should be here tomorrow, a whole day early. Then I'll have the answer to my big question. Is it plastic or metal? Well today wasn't a good day for me. Violent mood swings. There are many days where I get along with everyone. Then there are days when some things tick me off a bit. Then there are days like today when for seemingly no reason at all my temper just explodes and I'm just plain mad at everything and everyone for hours on end. It's not a good time to come knocking and certainly not a good time for a telemarketer to call. I wonder if that poor guy will ever be the same.Didn't get anything done on the layout today as I probably would have destroyed anything I touched. Watched a few movies today and got some sleep. That improved my mood some. One movie I deleted after only thirty minutes because it kept shooting into senseless flashbacks accompanied by very irritating and corny dialog. I hate flashbacks that come every few minutes. I hate corny dialog even more. Name of the movie was 'The Crowded Sky'.Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
Ray, Looking at wikipedia, It's more than a superficial 2nd degree, but not a major 2nd degree. A mild 2nd I guess. It doesn't hurt much... I'll ask my friend who is a doctor to save the trip and expense...
Howdy...

For the past hour we had a winged visitor IN our house...a bat. All three cats jut spent the entire time leaping, jumping, clicking, mewling and all else after this bat... I had to get my trusty squash racquet out and clobber the poor thing out of the air and into a little bag...and take the poor fellow outside...whereupon it flew around me then took off elsewhere....
It's Friday! Good morning everyone! We are in day 2 of what's predicted to be 4 days of 90-degree weather here in New England. We did fine yesterday just closing up the house in the morning and not opening it until dinner time, by which time it had cooled off enough to eat our first meal of the season outside on the deck. We had snow in the western part of the state last Monday. And by most standards Massachusetts is a very small state.
I'll be pouring Envirotex for the carfloat base this weekend. Sealing up the base around it took longer than expected last weekend, so the pour itself got delayed. I've opened up the Empire Leather Tanning Company kit, and that will be on the weekend agenda as well. If I get up early enough, I'll be on my bicycle before it gets too hot.
Vince, when I was younger I did alll my own car work. I took great pride in my Triumph Spitfire (1969) and later my MGB (1975) and I applaud your efforts to keep 'er running. I decided, though, that it was time to get a new car when I was spending more time under the old one than in it. When I die, I will know I'm in Heaven if St. Peter gives me the keys to that red MGB. If someone gives me the yellow Sunbird station wagon, though, I'll know I'm in the other place. Where better for a model railroader than a warm basement?
Heartland Division CB&QJeff ..... Looks like a plastic Varney F3 to me because the horn hook couplers were from the plastic era. ....
Had an awards ceremony last night. Got four awards. Not that BIG scholarship (Bennet Trust Scholarship), but I did get the CDK Perforating scholarship (for seniors who are going into an engineering field). Not big, but quite a bit bigger than the average scholarship. $3,000 lump sum, so it's still quite a bit. Also got the President's Education Award, Musical Excellence Award and American Association of University Women Award.
Today is graduation practice, some time to rest, then work. Also got the Mustang assembled yesterday. Look to get it painted during the weekend.
Good morning. It's 75° with 97% humidity. The high will be 88°.I think today I'll be doing some cleanup on the layout. I have to locate some things that are missing and I'm pretty sure they're under the pile of stuff in the work area. That's where I last saw them before things were shifted around.

Good Morning!!!
Coffee and something dry please….thanks.
Showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 82. Imagine that. Supposed to start after noon so that means any time now.
Paul- Good luck with the CC.
Ray- Oh that’s sad….I sure will add her to my prayers.
OH! Game time!
Ok Jeffery, You say metal, Garry says plastic , I’m gonna say pla…no , metal. Just kinda looks metal to me. Though oddly enough to me, the stirrups tend to look like it may be plastic. But overall, I’m stickin with metal. My final answer is metal.
Jake- Congrats on the awards.
Cars. I found years ago w**king on the car I have as a main driver wasn’t all that much fun. You know, on second thought I had a blast. So much fun I still have that car in my garage and smile fondly at it from time to time remembering.
Well I must get out and dig some little berry starts. I know, I know. I’ve said that all week, but with other things and the rain….well today I must because I can get rid of them tonight at w**k.
Hm, clouding up. Maybe I’ll finish the dishwasher install.
Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!
Heartland Division CB&QLion ..... Was that a recent derailment?
Yup. That was the broadside hit of a UP against a BNSF train at the diamonds. It took out a highway bridge somewhere west of the Hudson River. (All of those little mid-western states look the same to me.)
ROAR
Currently it is 46 with an expecter high of 83 under very sunny skies.
I have an opening shift today and this is my weekend off, so after w**k tonight I will plan the layout benchwork completion and buy whatever lunber I need tomorrow and get to it. Still not sure if I will do a drop down or duck-under. Well actually a roll under. The layout is quite high and I may be able to use an old office chair to roll under it.
Ray Special prayers for your sister. I hope she can beat it.
Got the Varney F3B today. It's the plastic version. No problem as I can still use it. I have another on the way (City of San Francisco) that is all metal. I made sure I saw that in the item description. It should be here on or before the 5th.
