Lehigh Valley 2089Also checked to see what I got on my Trig final, and got a 97 on that!
Trig is easy (Well, LION *never* took trig, so him knot know fersure), it is just a bunch of triangles strung together. If you have enough of them you could plant them and they will grow into a tree. (GeeI'matree).
Calc is next, and that one is a real bad boy. YOu have to discover how many circles can dance on the head of a pin.
(Says the LION who got a 17 on his algebra final--apparently he ate all of the numbers--teacher did not like that!)
Back in second grade (that is when it all started) the teacher kept correcting my 4s and my 7s. Apparently she thought I was writing them backwards. The looked fine to me, and I never did figure out why she was changing all of my 7s into little picnic tables. Teachers can be so obscure.

Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have the #2 special this morning, over easy on the eggs, bacon, home fries, and a double order of that wonderful sour dough toast. Oh, lots of dark roast coffee in my R&GV RR mug as well.
J.R., I'll second what you said... I will spend this evening out at my son's house for a picnic. I have yet to start making the Potato Salad I will be bringing.
The Dump Truck from the Mennonite Landscaping place arrived an hour early. I was sitting here in my bathrobe finishing my first round of coffee when he pulled around the corner. I ran to the bedroom grabbed yesterdays clothes, threw them on and got my shoes on and met him at the door. Told him to let me put my hearing aids in and I would be right out. He was able to drop the boulder right where I wanted it, and then he drove over to the other driveway and dumped the topsoil there.
I am getting another Stye in my right eyelid... Fun. This is the second one I have had this year.
Another nice and sunny day with cool temperatures here in the Finger Lakes. Currently 60°F outside with a high about 67°F later this afternoon. Set a new record with the solar panels yesterday. 30.95 kWh produced! today may break that record....
Best get moving and start the potato salad I guess.

Morning All,
Currently is is 54 with an expected high of 75 under mostly cloudy skies.
If I remember correctly, Memorial Day is actually May 30, but they changed it to the last Monday in May to give everyone a three day weekend. I never did like that idea, because it changed the focus from remembering the ultimate sacrifice that some gave, while some of us were lucky to come home in one piece. I guess I am a traditionalist.
I have the day off so it will be a day of w**king on the layout, and mowing the green stuff in the front yard.
Caboose Hobbies and Micro Mark are having Memorial day sales, so I may hve to spend some money to save some money. My late wife would be proud of me for that kind of thinking.
Jeff - nice little video. I am glad you were able to get all the glue out af that engine.
Enjoy the parades, picinics, bar-b- que's, and get together with family and friends, but please do not loose focus of what this day is all about.

Good morning to everyone. We're getting one nice day out of this weekend, anyway. It's 63 degrees and there isn't a cloud in the sky at 11 AM. Happy Memorial Day to all.
That's my Dad, in his WW2 Army Air Corps uniform. He served in a support role in Africa, and, fortunately for me, made it home in one piece. Cancer cut his life short. He'd have been a hundred this year. He built my first 4x8 out of plywood and 2x4s, and helped me put my Lionel track on it.

Afternoon All,
Waiting on the family for our Memorial Day get together. I finished loading my train videos on YouTube. I have a couple more, but I feel not a good enough quality to post.
I was touched last night when several co-workers texted me thanking me for my Navy service.
I would also like to thank everyone who has served or supported our troops over the years even when it was not popular to do so.
Jeff- Nice video.
Inch- I'm not sure what the issue was but I tried watching your video 2 times and both times my computer froze and had to be restarted.

Lets sum up my day.
1 Guy that wanted to buy the Road Runner was a no show. While a little disappointing, not that much. I am now thinking about get her going again. Reason she stopped running? Fuel pump went bad, so cab's should have no gas in them so maybe they are still good. I hope so, just checked on line and 750 Hollies are $279.00 each. Hard part will be getting the 6 year old gas out of the gas tank.
2 Did some honey does today. Fought with the evil wild gape vines like the wife wanted me to. Lost my wedding ring while doing it. Wife is mad at me a course. I have lost around 5 to 8 of them. I have stopped counting but all where lost doing her bidding.
3 I am in the dog house. Tuesday is our wedding anniversary, think it is our 36th, need to get the toes out and count. Anyway I have to go to the VA Hospital Tuesday, afterwards she wanted to eat out. We where going to BBQ today but it is right now. I spent $30.00 in meat, so I told her we where not eating out Tuesday but BBQ the meat. Now I am the jerk because I don't want to waste the meat. (she will throw it away if it sets for 4 days) Besides I hate eating out, it is my wedding anniversary as well!
As she left the train / garage she yelled "I have nothing to look forward to"! Boy I wanted to say "Yes you do, being single" but I kept quite. By the way, I have gave her cash, flowers and some other stuff she wanted, not like I did nothing for her.
More than likely I am the jerk but all most everything I have done my life has been for her.
Ken, being a jerk again, I guess.

Ken-There has to be a reason why she is on SSI, and I think your stories tell the tale. So you know I know what I am talking about, Here is some of mine:
I am Bipolar {manic/depressive} and am currently on a manic tear for the past 2 months. I have exhibited my manic behaviors, one of which USUALLY come with very angry outbursts that MOH has to put up with even if not directed at MOH.
I assume with her getting SSI for years, you have known about her penchants for outbursts. There must be some reason for them that granted her the SSI. So you have to deal. Divorce is not the answer, as that doesn't help her or you...you need to find a support group for you to go to for people who deal with whatever her illness/condition is...they are all over the country for all kinds of illnesses. For instance there are groups for those who live with someone who is manic. If you can't find one for "those who live with someone who has XX", go to the support group for the "XX" and ask around, or maybe they will help you.
When I get manic, or very very depressed, for instance, MOH goes to the hospital support group for "family and friends of Bipolar people" group.
Try it- you can search the net for "support groups for family and friends of XX people" and your town or nearby city and see what you come up with...It may help...
Here, just as an example is a listing of support groups for those in my city as a "for instance":
http://www.gobroomecounty.com/files/senior/pdfs/Support%20Groups%20Alphabetical(1).pdf
She will only go to a group for her IF SHE wants to go, but you can go to one for yourself!!!
Godo luck!

Well, trig isn't that easy. Compared to Calc, maybe, but there is SO much to remember. Sine, cosine, tangent, cosecant, secant and cotangent, along with their ratios, values and inverses. That's also just a small part, so I guess I'll have my work cut out for me at PennTech.
Anyway, Mustang parts are now drying and hope to start building sometime this week or during the weekend.
Night everyone.
Cops were kinda busy out here yesterday. No, nothing to do with the problem I had. They were chasing after a green Chevy truck, three occupants in said truck. The driver made the mistake of turning down Vernon Park road which is a long twisty dead end and then he complicated his mistake by turning onto the loop I'm on. One way in, one way out! Cop cars came around the loop in both directions while another blocked the one and only exit. The folks in the truck couldn't go anywhere unless they went into the lake and the apparently wasn't in their game plan. They were captured almost in my back yard. As far as I've been able to determine drugs may have been involved. That seems to be a problem everywhere today unless you live under a rock at the bottom of the sea.Well I got all the bugs worked out of the F unit trio and changed the third unit from an F7A to an F3B with a simple change of body shells. So there are now two F3B's, both with Varney shells. The second shell however is plastic. Maybe someday I'll get a second Varney metal F3B shell. That extra weight would give the trio even more pulling power, as if it needs it. It can already pull more cars than the layout can support.Other than working on the F units it's been an uneventful day here. Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 81. Ok, enough rain already. We can’t make up for last year. It doesn’t work that way.
Went to bed at 9:30 last night so up at 3:30. Probably want a nap this afternoon.
Hey Inch! Glad to see you’re still a kickin. I take it all is well with the family? How’d the weather hit you last night? You may have been too far south come to think of it. Tell you the truth I’s only watchin around us. Taylorville may have been as far south.. maybe.
J.R.- Glad to hear from you as well though admittedly I don’t get very concerned when you don’t check in due to the nature of your business. That does NOT mean we don’t care however so you ain’t off the hook for having to check in from time to time. Real glad business is good enough to keep you busy though.
Ken- Um….Happy Anniversary…. Hey, live with someone day in day out for 36 years and you’re bound to have things about each other that just irritate the other to no end.I know Brenda and I's pushin 23. ..24! But hey, added all up there’s a heck of a lot more good things. We just tend to talk of the negative things cause it takes less time.
Got a bit of excitement yesterday eve or late afternoon actually. Tornado sirens went off, weather warning thing was howling, the Weather Channel was burning up my phone with notifications of warnings…wow. Luckily, we didn’t see anything but a light and sound show and a bunch of rain. No damage at all to anything. Others south of us not so lucky.
I did however get out about noonish and mowed the yard quickly. I took two passes to do it so hopefully the clippings are fine enough I won’t have to rake it up. Times like this I really appreciate the superior mowing abilities of the new JD over the IH. It actually takes less time to mow with a 2” smaller deck. It’s also left offset from the center of the tractor so that affects my line up but that’s almost not an issue anymore. Just at times.
Other than that I did nothing but watch the Sci Fi or SyFy or whatever they call it now, People Eating Monsters Marathon. Or I guess Monsters Eating People is more clear. No Oscars given for any of those B- to C made for TV movies. One thing I noticed, if you look real good in a bikini and you’re wearing one or end up wearing one for no real storyline reason other than just to pretty much be there in a bikini and add to the scenery, OR prior (or during) to a tense event you take your shirt off so you’re wearing a tight fitting tank top or ….a bikini top…..you’re fixin to be monster food real quick.
Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!
EDIT: Ooo! Swiped the check from G for the page. Eat up!

Good morning. It's 70° with 100% humidity. The high will be 88°.Nothing special planned for today. Just going to take it easy.
Back to work, but good morning to everyone anyway. To maintain a positive outlook , it's a 4-day week.
After 2 days of rain and clouds, we got a glorious Memorial Day. I took off for my first bicycle ride of the year, about 15 miles round trip. With a bit less weight around my middle, I felt better than I did last year and I'm already looking forward to riding again soon. Unfortunately, the next weather pattern looks to be oppresively hot.
Our daughter Annie came home to collect her graduation gift. We promised her a MacBook Air, so we drove up to convenient tax-free New Hampshire to buy it. I'm a PC guy myself, but I'll admit that's a nifty computer.
I got some modeling done, too. The carfloat base is done and the carfloat itself is glued in place. All that's left for that is the Envirotex. I've still got some work to do on the apron, but it's cosmetic details. I'm waiting for a Rix switch stand for the turnout before the float. It's an operating stand, mechanically linked to the throwbar. Unfortunately, it's one of those not in stock, availability unknown items at Walthers.
Good morning.
More work on the P-38 today. Coming along real well. Will head to the LHS later today and possibly pick up a few things. Going on a senior cruise at the finger lakes today, and it might be a late night.

Had a very nice family BBQ last night. We had 8 adults and 2 kids. I grilled 3 racks of ribs and MOH and daughter did the hard part (the rest). My Mom made pineapple upside down cake for dessert. The grand kids were at the house for 2 straight days and I told MOH it was nice to have some peace and quiet finally after every one left.
Go back to w**k tomorrow and the temps are in the 90's all week with rain Thursday and Friday.
Today I need to vacuum then I'm going to paint the track ties black in the RH area. Believe it or not I just realized that those ties re still brown.
Well I hope everyone has a great day and prayers for those in need.
Morning Folks
Flo, Coffee pleases with a Diet Dew Chaser.
Going to be a busy day today.
1 Go to the VA Hospital to the Ulcer Clinic. Toe is not looking good again.
2 Take Sue out for our Anniversary Luncheon, she wants to go to Golden Carrol. Big reason I don't like eating out? After I eat, I get sleepy and don't feel like doing anything.
3 Trash run, that one is easy.
4 Replaces the ignition key cylinder again in Sues car. This will be the 4th one in the 4 years she has had the car. She claims she cannot get the key to turn, yet I have no problems with it? But it will make her feel better.
5 Plant flowers for Sue.
Galaxy Sue should be on her Happy Pill's but she won't take them. Dr gave her a prescription a few years ago. She does not like the way they make her feel, but she was a lot easier to get a long with!
Need to get going.

Currently 52 with an expected high of 72 under pleasant but breezy skies.
It will be a long busy day for me today. Need to go to DMV and get late wife's name off of all the vehicles. Closing shift today, then meeting after the store closes, get home after 11:00 PM, glad I have Wednesday's off. Sister-in-law and her husband are in town for their grandson's HS graduation, so they will be visiting me tomorrow.
Was able to finish laying the track and Switch Tender motor for the last passing siding. I need to order several more turnouts from Walthers to complete the loop so trains can run non-stop around the layout. Since Micro Mark had a sale yesterday I ordered 6 more Switch Tender motors. I will order the turnouts next week after I get paid on the 5th. Walthers sale runs through June 30th so no rush there.
Prayers to all in need.
Ken, you and Sue (because you're in this together) should look at different options for "Happy Pills." Some are going to work better than others, and the idea is to find the right one. My wife's been on Zoloft for years. It just evens her out, without personality changes. It helps the the body maintain its level of Serotonin, which is produced and re-absorbed naturally. It's more of a physiological thing than a mental thing, if that's any easier for her to accept.
There are a lot of options for blood pressure, too, as an example. The first two I tried made me feel terrible, so I went back to the doctor and told him. He started with the lecture about how I needed to control my blood pressure. I had to stop him and say that I didn't want to stop taking medication, I just wanted to stop taking that medication. Once we were on the same page, we found the one that did the job without the side effects.
Some of us like cork roadbed, and some like foam...
Looking around online this morning and found a Varney F3B dummy unit. I think it's metal. There's some hard looking flash in the steps and some corrosion streaks on the body that make me think so. The owner wasn't wanting much for it so I grabbed it. Good use for a little $ I had laying around. Looks like it'll be here Saturday. Made bank deposit to cover. If it turns out to be plastic I can still use it.

Weird photo. Does anybody know why the put the outhouses on the other side of the tracks?
"It's another rainy dayJust a rainy, rainy dayIt's another rainy dayJust a rainy, rainy day"
Zoe, I'll have a short stack of blueberry pancakes with real NYS maple syrup and a side of bacon this morning. Oh, and yes, make the coffee dark roast... Organic, fair traded, Seneca Lake blend, if you would and use my R&GV RR mug as well.
You may have guessed it is raining outside the window here where I live this morning. Since I have to haul 3 cubic yards of topsoil around to the back of the house and fill the raised bed gardens, it is raining outside... May decide to drive to Canandaigua this afternoon and buy some new shoes for volunteering at the museum. We are supposed to have (according to the rules) a shoe with a distinct heel on it for working train crew. I have been wearing sneakers that sort of, kinda, maybe have a bit of an indentation like a heel... I can't wear steel toed boots like are prefered (Podiatrist says I shouldn't being diabetic) but may be able to get soft shoe with a high ankle support that would be better for walking out there and climbing on equipent.
Lion... The reason the outhouses are across the tracks is because that is where the creek is that carries the waste material downstream to the next town.... It also keeps everyone on track, so to speak.
Mr. Beasley, and some like Homabed!
Ken, have a happy tolerable anniversary today!
I might just have to go do some stuff in the trainroom as a last resort today..... Hmmmmmm........
Later!
Good afternoon.
Rained almost nonstop here. Let up every now and then, but was still heavy. Got more progress done on the P-38J, and picked up an ALCO RS-11 decorated for the Lehigh Valley. Also recieved that Lionel 6660 derrick car that I waited so paitently for.
Got a call from my father today saying that he had to make a bus run to Alexandria today after he finished his scheduled job. It was going to be a LONG day for him. He needed me to go down later and feed his dogs. He also said I should mow the grass. I told him I only mowed it a week ago (and I did, exactly seven days ago) and I'm not scheduled to mow it for another week (June 4th). He said no, it's too thick now. If I wait a week it's gonna be three times harder and it's gonna make a big mess with huge piles of clippings. Then he got that 'don't argue with me' tone in his voice and very flatly said 'DO IT'. So I went down and looked and he was right. Even another couple of days would have made it harder. It took me around three hours to knock out the whole yard. My niece came down and asked what the heck I was doing mowing a week ahead of the schedule she had imposed and I told her very simply 'Your grandfather told me to'. Nuff said. After all he lives there too. When I finished I went in the house and fed his dogs then just collapsed on the couch and watched the weather while I cooled down. Now the next 'scheduled' mowing day is June 11th. We all know what happens to the carefully laid plans of mice and men. With all that done I came back home. I'm feeling the aches and pains from running that tractor. Oh well. It gives me a little more money to play with. Little as it is that's more layout cash.
Evening All,
Had pasta for supper. I go back to w**k tomorrow and I am dreading it. I have been off for 19 days and it was not long enough.
Today I vacuumed, then painted the track ties black in the RH area. After that dried I put down WS Cinders on the painted ties. After that I weathered a NYC Pacemaker Box Car and a 8K Tank Car. I think my next project will be putting together a Bowser Pennsy N5 Cabin Car with a train phone (Have all necessary parts already.)
Jeff- Don't over do it too much, It is definitely getting hotter out there.
I will talk to everyone Fri or Sat. Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need.
