Good Evening!
Today has not been one of my better days. I am still somehow struggling along. The pain has come back. If it does not go away by tomorrow mean, I´ll have to see my doc again. I guess I will have to go to hospital again - this time subjected to a surgeon´s knife (horrible thought).
Hope you all fell much better than I do!
Barry - keeping my fingers crossed for Wednesday´s results!

I'll have a pecal roll with OJ please. I can sit here at the Rivet Counter briefly today. Planning to be here again tomorrow, and surgery on Aug 1st. I hope each of you is doing fine today.
Regarding safety along the railroads, it is a very good idea to stay back. Trains are big enough to see while on public property at a distance. If you talk with an experienced railroad engineer, he can tell you of his experiences with people on the right-of-way. Some are very gruesome.
On the layout, I've mostly been just running trains in recent days.

Good afternoon!
A sunny but muggy-gonna-get-muggier-tomorrow day. I will stay inside where I have A/C and can breathe well.
Doing laundry now. DIshes done. Gotta srcub off the mess I made on the stove overboiling the other day.
I am trying to go slow as my back is not cooperating well, and I don't wnat to "kink" it out.
MOH going to work soon.

Mornin' folks,
Zoe, I'll have a couple sour cream glazed donuts to dunk in my dark roast coffee this morning. Thank you, Ma'am!
Currently 80°F outside with mostly sunny skies. High will be 86° later this afternoon. I think I shall mow a bit of the lawn today... need to cut down the weeds sending up long spikes, blossoming, and going to seed.
Lee, 427 people? WOW! In 2010 32,885 people died on the highways! That number includes the 4,280 pedestrians killed. I think we ought to get rid of cars and go back to trains! They appear to be much safer.... Much, much safer actually!
Todd, as soon as you go buy a replacement for one of those parts, you will will find the other one you saved and forgot about, you know.....
Guess I should face the day and get doing something of value for a bit! I certainly have plenty of things I have been putting of for way too long!
Later!

Todd, The batteries tested good (new fall 2011), the battery cables tested OK, the old alternator failed the test, new 100 amp alternator installed, new started installed 7 days ago. The mechanic traced out everything he could on the engine for amp draw and shorts/bad grounds. This is the third alternator installed in the last 9 months and the computer gives an error code on the ignition system still, but to get the exact meaning of the error code (or to narrow it down) I need the Ford break out box. The local mechanic doesn’t have the money to own one.
Barry, my driveway is the original 1949 two strips of concrete that only went to the front of the house and stopped, then someone filled in between the 2 strips, then someone extended it all the way to the side of the house, then someone extended it to the garage, then someone widened the garage and the back part of the driveway, then someone added concrete to the widen the original two strips of concrete. After a heavy rain or when the ground freezes the center slabs raise up about 6” then when things dry out it lowers. Now in a heavy rain when I drive over the original part water shoots out from between the joints. During any amount of rain you see a stream of muddy water leaking from the joints near the sidewalk that continues down the street to the storm drain. I guess I could have posted a picture and saved the previous 1000 words, LOL.

Good Morning!!!
Coffee and a bowl of “I knew it, I just knew it”.
Mostly sunny, with a high near 92. Looks like they took the 40% chance of rain out last night sometime.
I hesitate to even say this, but just to show what I mean by as soon as I get rid of something regardless of how long it’s hung around, I’ll need it I’ll tell you this. Remember what last week when I had BIL come haul metal away and I sent all those car parts I’ve hung on to for years? Some 30 or better? No? well I did. Well GUESS what was in the load that left.Yup, you guessed it not one but two Chrysler two speed wiper motors. Didn’t need them as on my Roadrunner one of the two options this car has is a three speed wiper motor so a two speed did me no good. The other is an AM radio. Needless to say the car is bare bones. I knew it, I just knew it. Junk yards around here are very slim pickins for older vehicles as most over 20 years get hauled away for the metal. The parts they do have for a very small amount more, can be purchased new. Almost a waste of time. Example. A few years ago, I went looking for a DS sideview mirror assembly for a ‘2002 Saturn. Dealer price, $205. Junkyard price with scratches and a chipped mirror……$195. The whole door with no glass and of course no mirror assy, was $50, so that was cheaper, but parts are ridiculous.
Lee- Don’t know what you mean by “burnt up” but I’d not jump to the ECM. Could be just an alignment of the pulleys or a bad regulator in the Alt. Many rebuilts and I assume that’s what you got, most do considering the cost, will test parts and if they fall into spec, they’ll reuse them. The life span is possibly shorter. Not to say a new one won’t conk just as quick. Or, could be something is just drawing too much. They need to get the new one on and check for draw with various things on and off. Diesels are worth it for their longevity I suppose, but when something goes bad. Whoa. Look out.
Welp. Gotta do the Church deposits and then to town to get rid of old sink vanity top at Habitat for Humanity then pick up a couple things from Menards I forgot yesterday and then back to scraping Vinyl flooring up. Why not done yesterday when I had all day? (After all the room ain’t that big.)……
Did I mention Brenda was home.
Ya’ll have a good day!!!!

Good morning. It's 78° with 94% humidity. The high will be 98° with a heat index of 110+°. A heat advisory is in effect until 7pm this evening.
Don't forget me Ken.I may get in some layout work today providing nobody else has something for me to do. With the weather being what it is I want to stay in out of the heat as much as possible. Otherwise I'll be inside watching some movies and taking it easy. Doctors orders you know. I certainly don't want to be spending time in that building with the red cross on the roof.
Good morning, Diners. Coffee sounds so good this morning. Three more days and the fun begins. Family, family, family, and then a few days before heading back to work. At least the little kids are teenagers now.

Good Morning All,
Galaxy, what I really need is a new driveway; I’m afraid it’s going to completely fail one day. I might have to break down and consider a 2nd mortgage to cover the cost.
Vincent, it’s a 2003 F250, 7.3L diesel. If you find one in the junk yard it has over 300,000 miles and typically the engine is already gone. The junk yards can sell those engines for $2,000.00 all day long. The KB trade in value for fair condition on my truck is an unbelievable $9,582.00 or retail of $15,000; hence why I entertained the idea of buying a new truck. The entertainment value ended after I “built” one online and saw the price tag, LOL. Really there is nothing wrong with what I have except it’s starting to become undependable but if this ECM or CPU issue can be resolved then maybe it will last me another 5 years.
Good Morning
Sunny and warm forecast for today...82F feeling like 86F ..low humidity ..and a little SW breeze to boot.
Going to find out this week..actually, Wednesday...about what the beeep is going on with this cancer stuff...hopefully, I do feel this, I won't need this again.
Today?
A few groceries to be picked up and getting a new guitar...hope...hope...hope....

Good Morning! from Tipton IN.
TIPTON
Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
David: Thanks for looking. I didn't think they'd have much of anything.
Hi guys. Long time no see. I will have a Dr. Pepper please.
I was at a party at the spillway park all day. Great BBQ. If it could be cooked on a grill they had it. I am stuffed!
Howmus: Jeff's old battlewagon is almost twice my age! It is loud too! Must be all those T-Rex's ruuning on the treadmill. I have looked at the scrap yards around here. they do not have any good trucks or vans that old that have any good parts and the parts stores are real proud of the wiper motors that fit it. The rebuilt ones go for $50! Get this. All the parts stores want exactly the same price for it!
Sawyer: I am liking your progress on the layout.
Ken: take care ot that toe or you will be in the same boat as Jeff is. You do not want to be there. Everything he cooks will burn you at both ends and fry everything in between.
Prayers and good wishes for all that need them.
David Parks I am the terror that flaps in the night!
Evenin' folks!
The Lakeshores Division, NMRA had a fun filled day out at the Museums today. Had 13 people in attendance, a few models brought in for show and tell, and a great ride via trolley and track car down to the R&GV RR where we got a guided tour of the restoration building. Everyone seemed to have a great time.
A very pleasant day here in the Finger lakes region. The high was 82°F at 1:45 PM and the low tonight will be around 65°F. Tomorrow I will unplug the Lawn Mower and cut the weeds and grass I call a lawn..... Lawn has recently become green again......
Barry, good to hear you had an operating session and nothing bad happened!
Jeffrey, with the advanced age of the "tank" you drive I would have thought it had the old vacuum type wiper system on it! If it is original, I would say it has had a long life. Hope you can find a replacement so you can drive when it rains, and I see that is often down your way.
One of our NMRA Division members who was at the picnic is a guy who, along with his wife, are in some of the NCE advertisements. He recently had one of his trees in his yard fall on his house during one of the storms that came through earlier this year. It did thousands of dollars worth of damage to the house, but it turns out the only thing that kept the foundation of the house from completely giving way and causing much more damage, was the good solid benchwork he built for his fantastic Model Railroad! See, another good reason to be in the hobby!
Catch up to you all later!
Good sort of evening...
Busy day for us today...neighbours had a block family BBQ so went to do that then we had some of the neighbour kids down the basement for an operating session..with some accompanying adults...and no incidents, accidents, or mishaps occurred...
Chloe, I'll have a small Bagel with cream cheese and a decaf coffee please....ya...I know it has been awhile...
Catch ya later!
9.45 pm and I am calling it a day.
Good night, everyone!
Packer Jeff, That windshield washer motor looks kinda big compared to the ones I've seen. Can you find a part number on it? Depending on how much a new one is, I might be able to find and grab one if I go to a junkyard next week.

jeffrey-wimberly I like you track layout there Sawyer.
I like you track layout there Sawyer.
Thanks Jeff; I finished the wiring yesterday, so trains can now run on all the tracks. I've also started planning my buildings out a bit.
Had a good time at church, then went to Cedar Creek Church and prayed over some of the people in my home group there (buddy left my church, went there, and now I go to his home group to keep in touch) who are going to Guatemala...I tell ya, God's working in America and abroad.
Anyways, I was gonna go work with a friend today, but his church ran late so the plans were cancelled, which means I'll be hanging out with a couple friends today (same guy I was gonna work with, and my buddy from the home group)...might get to do a shake-down ops session :D

Morning guys
Not much planned for today. It's cloudy and may rain, so I doubt I'll try painting anything.
I did notice when I sprayed adhesion promoter on the new handrails for my GP38Xs that it said use solavent paints. Pollyscale worked well with it, lexan car body paint didn't, so I'm wondering if Foquil or a spray can would work a bit better. The pollyscale seems a bit light and the lexan one is a bit dark.
Lee, What year is your truck? A brainbox for a newer car may or may not be expensive than one for an older car. The one from an 87-95 mustang is around $100, but getting one from a junkyard or someone parting out a car could be a lot less. My father got 3 for $100 from a junkyard, and I got a spare for free from someone parting out a '95 mustang GT. For some reason some computers don't like being played with and some are fine with it. The original one from my car didn't like being chipped, but the one from the '95 GT worked great with a chip. (It's a T4MO reprogrammed to think it's a J4J1, which is used in '94-'95 Mustang Cobras)
Galaxy, Lots of people my age seem to get a newer car and make huge payments on it. The girl I was dating recently had a '05 Mazda 3 and complaining about $350 monthly payments. She got mad when she found out my '94 Mustang GT was not only faster, but got better mileage, and was less than $3K (I though it was funny that a car that is 11 years newer isn't as good) and traded it in. Well, she turned around and bought a '11 Mitsubichi Lacer GTS and is making $450 a month payment. And now it already has problems with the clutch as 18K miles... My original clutch was still hanging in there at 212K miles...
Ken, Given you did auto/body work for a living a while back, would you happen to know how to remove vinyl decals? I have a spare rear wing for my car that is black with a gray rally stripe decal. I'm thinking hair dryer or heat gun. Reason being is I want to paint the spare flat black and see how it looks on my car. I installed a chin spoiler from an '04 Mach 1 Mustang on mine, and I think it'd look cool with a flat black wing to go along with.
Vincent
Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Coffee and the Sunday Breakfast Buffet please. Thanks.
A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 89.
Ryan- Glad to hear from you again! Sorry about the economy hit, but I’m glad you’re still clawing away.
Started pulling the vinyl up on the bathroom floor, but didn’t get much done yesterday. Wife was home. As soon as I’d get started, she’d want something. Then she wanted to go in town, then Walmart then it was watch movie. When we went to bed, she said, “didn’t get much done on the floor”. I…..I just said nope.
Started this at about 6:30. Got sidetracked and as I was scraping on the floor I said to myself,"say, I never posted my post."
Coffee sounds really good this morning. I have sore ankles from running yesterday. It has been at least 10 years since I ran regularly. I don't remember all these aches and pains afterwards.
Ray, I am impressed with all those hand laid tracks. We used flex tracks because we weren't that patient. It is great to have staging.
Garry, The fair starts next week, so we will probably go on Sunday to see how he did. We have to pick them up after 8:00 Sunday, so that will save a trip. Thanks for the web site. I will check it out.
Later, Sue
