Ah....  Once again I missed breakfast, so I'll go with a Reuben Sandwich with one of those huge dill pickles and a glass of unsweetened Ice Tea for lunch.

Howdy Folks!

I'm still busy cleaning up odds and ends around the house THAT didn't get done last week.  Have a meeting to go to this afternoon about a historical project concerning the Canandaigua Academy Band.  The 3 of us who will be meeting all graduated together and played in the band in high school (2 trumpet players and a clarinetist [me]).  On is now county historian and he put together a powerpoint presentation of the early history of the band and a town band from Canandaigua for a Rotary meeting.  He wants to expand on what he has done and is looking for input from us.  I get a nice steak dinner tonight out the bargain, and besides the 3 of us have kept in touch since high school and have remained friends for close to 50 years.  We graduated back in 1964. All three of us became teachers.  Two of us in public school (Music and History) and the other as a Math teacher at Brockport State College.

Todd and Sue, thanks for the entertainment....... LOL!

Rob,  Carnivals are nice (except for some of the Carnies....).  have fun!

Catch you all later this evening.

Strongst coffee you have with a spoon and leave the pot on the table, if you don't mind. Thanks!

***Todd, ***Sue, thank you both for the chuckles reading your posts this morning.Laugh

One of my brothers thinks making the carnival would be a worthy addition to the (HO layout. We'll see if I can put together some of those kits this summer or if it's to much trouble. My eyes just aren't that great anymore. A carnival would look neat once in place and operational.

Have a good day all.

Good morning. It's 63° and cloudy with patches of rain. The high will be 72° with showers and thunderstorms. Chance of rain is 70% this morning increasing to 80% this afternoon.

It was very noisy here early this morning as a band of thunderstorms came through sometime before sunrise. I didn't bother to look at the clock so I don't know what time that was. The storms are moving to the northeast at 25 mph.

No layout work planned for today.

Good morning, Chloe.  Are you adjusting to the time change?  I will have my coffee in a NP mug, please.

Galaxy,  I intention is to get right on the taxes every year, but here it is March. I called my tax preparer and made an appointment for the 22nd.  If I take it in well organized, it doesn't  cost us as much.  I suspect that we will have to pay this year, so I am in no hurry.

Rob,  The key in the shoe thing reminds me.  I was meeting a friend for dinner in town one afternoon.  I see her on the corner and stop to pick her up.  I through  all the stuff in the front seat into the back.  When I later look for my cell phone I can't find it.  Two trips to town, a call to the restaurant, a call to the theater, backtracking everywhere that we walked did not uncover the phone.  I go to the phone store and replace the phone.  A week later when I am getting ready for work, I find my phone in my work shoe that I had thrown in the back seat.Laugh

Terry,  I like your roads.

Ulrich,  The last photo is my fav.

Curt,  You are so right on that  kit.  It is not a beginner kit.  Thankfully, I have  the magnification loops that I use at work.

Chad,  Nice to see you stopping by.

Todd,  When I did tile, I had a video and a book.  Use your computer for a search and find a video.  We are thinking of taking the tile out and replacing it with something smooth.  It is too much work to keep it clean.

Just a few touch up things and the painting is done.  I managed to get all the board siding on my car shop.  Now on to placing the 1 x 4 battens.  I am finding scale 1 x 4's are hard to manipulate.

Later,  Sue

Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.

Morning All,

Raining here this morning. High supposed to be 79 F. I work at 4 PM today so nothing much is planned other than about doing about 30 minutes of ground cover around the future dirt road. I taped off the road last night

Todd- Maybe a option for you is doing the tile in the shower yourself  then get a plumber for the piping.

Everyone take care.

Good Morning!! Coffee and the Sunday Breakfast Buffet please. Thanks. Never had Salmon for breakfast, but on toast it ain’t too bad.

A 30 percent chance of showers after 4pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 62. Appears to be the coldest daytime temp of the week. Prediction is in the 70’s all week. Looks like the windows may come open on a couple days!!!!! Yeah!!!!

Today, I plan on doing not much of anything. A day of rest. I’ve already started, even though I lost an hour of sleep last night, I took it back this morning.

Lee- Wasn’t the sink I shoulda been thinking about. We were walking through the plumbing isle with all those small yet handy weapons. Of course it makes no difference if Brenda has a weapon available or not. Turns out she IS a weapon.Black Eye

Wish I’da known that years ago.

Garry- Actually, yes I am enjoying it to a point. Brenda likes it too. She liked picking out the stuff for Mom’s updating too. We’ve been talking about some of the things for a few years now but not real serious. She likes change. Me, I kinda like the steady. I do like what “she’s” done with the place though. That I have to admit. Well, not to her anyway.

She now has her sister (the evil twin) attacking me on this tile shower subject. Main sticking point for me is I’ve never done one and I’m not sure how to go about it. Cement board is a given though and then there is the issue of the plumbing do to the differences in the distance. It will require a small shortening of everything and that is just a PITA. But who knows how that will w**k out. I kinda like the idea, but yet I don’t. I still haven’t brought out the cleaning the grout ace in the hole yet.

Floor Wars Williamsville: Phase….I lost track - Well, we are at a standstill for the kitchen until the countertops get in. They have to measure then build and that could take oh, I think mom’s was a couple weeks. Anyway, I might just have to start another room in the meantime. I may skip the Master Bath and do my office because it’s just a new floor and when the counter tops come in I can stop on that and return to the kitchen for that short time. I know, I know. I said one project done before completing another. But this is different. Don’t wanna start the bathroom and get stopped because we will have to share the same bath. THAT ain’t so good an idea if I get in there first and she ….. Let's just say:

Love is enduring and never ending..., until the bathroom’s occupied.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Howdy!

It's crazy to have millions of people changing the time on their clocks twice each year.

Inch .... Looks like Grandson is ready to throw a touchdown pass. I like that photo.

Ulrich .... Nice pix of the ship and of your layout.

V8 ... I recall hearing a little about that story in the news. Unfortunately, there are some violent people in this world. I can't understand government paying living expenses for anybody especially illegals.

Bill T ... Is that the Wabash Cannonball?

Barry ... I like that old steam train picture.

Sue ... I sued the 1950's signs for the supermarket. It was fun painting the little building.

Terry ... I like your photo of the highway crossing the tracks.

Chad ... glad you could stop by.

Todd ... Are you having fun with all of that re-modeling stuff.

Jeff ... Sundown shops are busy.

Ray .... Sounds like you are the designated cat sitter.

John Boy ....... Glad you can work on the rip track repairs.

Have a good one as Jerry says.

Good Morning,

Todd, never ever make smart comments to a woman within arm’s reach of a sink until they are bolted down to a counter top (the sink that is).  I complete understand your story; been there myself.

ahem! (whispering) Ok, so it goes like this. About a week ago we were in Lowe's and just walking past, I pointed out this stainless sink that I thought looked nice. It has one of those small basins, but not so small as to be kinda useless. Anyway, she gave the skrinkly look and said no, I don't want the small side and besides, we already have a stainless sink. She was looking at the black ones and kinda saw some she liked and some she didn't but didn't really decide. Zip ahead to Thursday. She says I need to get the sink because the counter people will call for to measure and they want the sink juuuust to be sure. Think I already said that. So she said just get a black sink, not the acrylic and not the cast iron, but the composite granite ones. I know what she didn't like and the others she really didn't have a preference. It really made no difference if it had a smaller side, as long it wasn't real small. Ok. Friday I go pick out this sink. It's nice but basic two bowl thing. Get it home and she say.....it's got freckles. I said yes, it's granite look. I didn't know that she said. It looks grey and kinda like it should be in a laundry room. It did look lighter at home than it did on display at the store I must admit. SO, we take the thing back today and she looks at the sinks again at Menard's and picks one out form there, but of course we have to go to Lowe's to return the other so she wants to peruse those first. Right? Right. she's decideing between two. One is like the one at Menard's but more expensive because Menard's sinks are on sale. If she picks that one we will go back to Menard's ( see Jim? Like I said, having the two right across the street has it's advantages), She picked a faucet out from Menard's and didn't like the ones from Lowe's, but she wanted to see what the stainless faucet would look like. So I went to the faucets and grabbed a stainless one in a open box and went back to the sinks where I saw her standing in front of the stainless ones. (you see where this is going don't you) we walk back and forth between the three sinks in question and she says " you know, I kinda really like this one. The stainless oneIndifferent. OK, whatever you want I said. After a few minutes of walking up and down the display, she says. Yes. I like that one the best. The stainless. It of course was not down with the others it was 47,000 feet up on a shelf and they were running short handed that day so there was a good 25 minute wait for someone to get a ladder stair to get the thing. AS we were walking toward the check out with a sink and a happy wife, I opened my mouth without thinking and said....YOu turned up your nose at this one when it was my idea, now that I was with the fake granite ones, now you want this one. It's all about not being my idea right? Didn't go over too aweful bad. Better than her catching me looking at the cuuuutest little Chinese waitress's (cough!) as she was wiping the table next to usWhistling. She's my favorite waitress. She comes and gets us or waves the host to seat me/us when she there. "Haylo! You want Dr Peppo o Coke? I get. You enjoy." Funny thing when Brenda's with me she always gives the bill to her not me. Other tables she gives to the man. I laugh and say I guess she thinks with a catch like me you should pay for me. ROFL!Laugh Zip it! That doesn't always go over that well either. Probably won't get to sit at her table anymore when she's with me. She is pretty. (hehehe).

Eveninj' folks!

Janie, just a decaf for me please.  I'm still stuffed for the party today.  I will be in the back by the stove...  still cold here in the Finger Lakes here tonight.

Today has been a very long one.  I was up more than two hours earlier than normal to be able to make the Rules Class this morning at RIT in Rochester.  Love there classrooms...  Acoustics are perfect.  Very easy to hear in them.  Oh, yes, I passed with flying colors so I can be working train crew again this year.

Grabbed a doughnut for lunch and headed to my sister's house to feed the cats and clean the litter box....  Then headed out to a park owned by the City of Canandaigua on Canandagua Lake for a party for my new Grandniece (her adoption papers got signed last month)!   That was a blast!  Kids everywhere...  My Granddaughters were leading the charge most all afternoon.  Their mom was not happy with them.

Got home and had a message on the computer from Epson Support about the printer problem.  Turns out to a simple fix.  I must have brought over an old driver from the laptop.  Didn't even know it was on it.  Anyway, I just had to remove the printer from the printer list, and then add it back.  Did a test print, and it w*rks fine.  Found the new driver with no problem.

Jeffrey, nice night time photo, sir!

Looks like the diner was busy today!  I'll be catching up on my reading a bit.  Then back down cellar to remove some more of the old backdrop.

Later!

 Evening Folks!

Flo, Beer and a straw please. Why the straw, I am to tired to like the mug.

Work Front Boy I took a beating today! I worked 8.75 hours and was off my feet maybe 2 to 4 minutes! What sort of sucks I was not scheduled to work today! I could had had 3 days off in a row! But when I called last night Dave told me to come in at 8:00 AM today. (by the way he did want me to work yesterday)

Was sort of glad I worked, while you don't make a lot of commission of the Buy Two Get 2 Free ad, you do make some. I had a few $1,000.00 + and a lot of $600.00 + tickets.

Terry Can your son take some Pictures of Benning? God, it been what 39 years? Wondering if they are still using the WWI barracks when I was there? Far as Bragg, some photo's as well. I was 18th Airborne, 16 MP Group, 503 Division 118th MP and 108th MP Company.

So he is a sharp shooter? Guess I was one of the Good Old Boy's, I was Expert with M-16, Colt 45, M-60 and Geraned (spell check) launcher. (blowing on finger nails and polishing them on my shirt) But hen again my dad was on a rifle team and taught me to shoot. DI's gave me all kind of stuff about how I want to hold my M-16 and I am Right handed but fired the M-16 Left handed. (brass was hot, til they gave me a Left handed M-16) They shut up after I got the weapon zeroed in, and started hitting the target's. Big Smile

Jeffery I was all so taken by the UP engine. You have a PM coming. Whistling

Evening All,

I decided not to go to the club tonight since I was tired, so instead I took a 2 hour nap and feel better. I haven't been sleeping real well at night lately. I will probably do some prep work on the layout tomorrow before going to w**k at 4 PM. MOH has a medical procedure (routine) at 0645 Thursday so it will be a early start that day.

Don't forget to move the clocks ahead tonight.

Oz Jim- I look forward to seeing your completed bridges and surrounding area.

Tom- Your layout looks amazing as always.

Jeff- You nailed the lighting and perspective on that GP-?. Sorry but I don't know the difference between the different Geep's.

Todd- I feel your pain buddy. It reminds me of the saying "There but for the grace of God"

Terry- It sounds like your son is doing very well for himself.

Ulrich- Very nice pic's. I am always amazed by how much larger your modules look compared to their actual size.

Johnboy- Hopefully you will get to hold your grandson real soon.

Sue- I really wish Walther's had come up with a different design for the coal chutes. In my opinion the design they went with is ridiculous with all the tiny parts needing glued together.

Well everyone take care and prayers for those in need.

Blindfold

WHERE ARE WE ????????????

I'm having trouble finding the Diner.  I know we are in the North West, but no one has been to clear on the diner's resting place. Or are we doing a mobile tour like we did in Canada last year.  Help me out here Gang.........I'm  missing your company and the good Diner food and bevies.    and Girls.

Got a few days off here and just recovering from a wicked head cold that I have had for over two weeks.  Because of that I hadn't been able to see my New (First) Grandson, that was born last Sunday morning.  His name is Solomon. I did sneak over yesterday to get to know him a little, but I didn't hold him or get to close as I don't want him starting out with a cold like this.  He is a handsome fellow,  just like his Grampa.   Lol.    Smile, Wink & Grin

Finally getting some of the bleaps out of the branchline.  It has been a pain, every step of the way it threw something up at me.  If I wasn't a patient man I would have said "SCREW IT" and just tore it out.  But I didn't as I really want it as it is my reverse loop and will be an access to a little mine.

Other than that I have mainly been catching up on my RIP Track maintenance, some couplers and trucks etc.  Built a couple of loads for a flat and gondola. Also built that flat out of an old shake the box BB. kit.  BN 40 footer. It has a couple of diesel engines as a load.  Haven't been able to find small enough chain to use on it.   Any hints on that ??  Question

Well I'm off to the train room.  Think a little more land forming is in my sights today.  I'm certainly not as fast as Curt is with these issues, or even Sue for that matter.

I'll sign off for now,  trusting you will all have a great week-end.

Johnboy out......................................but staying close to home.

from Saskatchewan, in the Great White North..

We have met the enemy,  and he is us............ (Pogo)

it has been a somewhat boring day here in northern Germany. As I could not w*rk on my boat, I went over to my friend´s house for some steam talk. He is not only a gifted model railroader, but also a model shipbuilder. He is building a 1/50 scale model of this beauty:

Got some valuable hints from him how to do a few things with that Bluenose model of mine. AND he gave me his tripod, so I was able to shoot a few pics from my layout.

Jeff - I like that night shot Thumbs Up

Y´all have a gooden...

Good Saturday morning.48f and partly cloudy on the way to 60f. Looks like we're gettig the same forecast as Todd!

******  LEE, did you get my e-mail?

Great pics everyone, keep them coming!!

Talked to PFC Son again last night. He's at the Airborne training center at Benning. They start 3 weeks of training Monday. After that he'll go to Ft. Bragg for immediate SF training as the hold on his class has been lifted. When/if  he passes the selection process he'll have about 24 MORE weeks of training, so his hope to go directly to a line unit is on hold for a bit. GOOD!! He shot Sharpshooter at Qualifing, 35/40 at targets ranging from 50 1 sec. pop-ups ,150 ,275 and 300 yds. If he'd got 1 more it would've been expert. Said a "couple of good ole boys" aced it!

A friend is bringing her 2 boys over after church Sunday to see the layout. Hope Murphy takes a day off! I want to fill in this spot with a couple 3 houses before they get here. I've got 1 kit and I'll have to scratch a couple from " for sale" signs. Then sidewalks and a chainlink fence along the ROW.

That's all for now!

Italian Roast coffee in a VERDE CANYON RAILROAD mug, please.

***Jeffrey, excellent lighting on that loco.Yes

***Sue, usually do the extension and hire someone else to figure out all that nonsense. The hole system needs to be flushed down a toilet.

My sister forgot she had stuck the rental car keys in a shoe before putting on boots to help me take hay through a pasture gate. They missed the first flight and hopefully got on the second. Had a great time though.

Will be in the corner booth attempting to recuperate from an exhausting week.

... then I can think about the tax preparation. And then back to hobbies.

Sue- Taxes were done a month ago for usand refunds in our hands and spent to "help the economy"...we don't delay, but we don;t have complicated taxes either...Even if we did, we would not put them off.

Todd, ANY purchase for the remodle, I would DRAG her along to let her pick the pink and turquise octagonal tiles she likes for the bathroom..or anything else needed! AND ONCE she made up her miond...NOTHING goes back... I know, I know,... if moma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy, but daddy being worn out with her staggering tastes ain't no good either!!!

How it works here is MOH will want input from me, and If I say "pick what you want", invariably I get the "you are no help" so I offer a suggestion and USUALLY it gets "choosen"!!!! {sneaky aren't i?}

Well, my head is a dull ache now. The aftermath can be as bad as the headache....

Well, laundry today, dishes already done.

Chicken Parm over pasgetti. {note that it is NOT over "spaghetti"} for lmy unch. MOH is going out for lunch...with an old friend, without me....

dinner will be salmon over rice-a-roni, the San Fransico Treat...ding ding.

Picked up the sink yesterday. Today it goes back. When I got it home, Brenda didn’t like it. Imagine that. This time she goes with me.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.

Good Morning!! Coffee and a stack of blueberry flapjacks with blueberry syrup please. Thanks.

Sunny, with a high near 60. South southwest wind between 11 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Looks like we’re heading to the 70’s by Monday.
