 Morning Folks!

Flo, Beer Please, Op's, meant Coffee!

Finally starting to feel rested up from this weekend!

Have to be at work at 2:00 PM today so it will be a little shorter day for me. Then I have to be there at 9:00 AM Wednesday, that will be a little hard on me now that I am use to getting up at 9:00.

Far as Larry, well lets just say I may still have to go to H&R about the stuff he is saying to me. Guess now that he cannot lie and cheat the customers, I am the new target.

 See you all later.

I'm down here at my parents place on an old computer I have set up here. It's basic frame is around fourteen years old. The drives were all changed out about eight years ago with the exception of a DVD ROM USB drive I installed last year so I can watch a movie once in a while. My parents have advanced basic cable TV and the channel selection stinks. It's mostly news, weather and shopping channels but they like it.

Anyways, I was digging around in the old photo files that were transferred from the previous hard drive and I came across some old photos of a layout I was working on back in the 90's. They were taken with an old pinhole pocket camera that at it's best took lousy photos. The layout was one of the few two level layouts I built for myself and due to cash constraints that were even worse than what I'm dealing with now it sported several different brands and quality of track ranging from Atlas Snap Track and flex-track I had left over from the 80's to Bachmann steel rail EZ-Track and Life-Like steel rail Power-Lock track. Just whatever I could get my hands on. Most of the EZ-Track, locos and rolling stock I had was left to me by a relative who passed on when I was thirty-five. Here are some of the photos and please excuse the lack of quality. It was the best I could do at the time with what little I had.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a raisin bran muffin with lots of real butter and a cup (or two) of dark roast coffee in a R&GV RR mug.

"The sun is a-shining to welcome the day...."  Was very, very dark and gloomy first thing this morning, but the sun has decided to come out "and dry up all the rain. And the eensy weensy spider went up the spout again..."  Sorry, I haven't completely recovered from watching the granddaughter yesterday.  Currently 55°F outside with a high around 65° this afternoon.

Ken, I think you got a bad cylinder in that machine of yours!  Oh!  Wearing out the tires early......  I see.  Well I hear he gets a huge discount where he w*rks....Whistling

I'm hoping Thursday my son and I can load up my truck with a pile of stuff to be recycled.  Some his and some of mine.  he has a couple old TV's and a bunch of other electronic equipment to add to mu old Laser Printer, microwave, and a box of odds and ends (remotes, battery backup parts, etc).  Be good to officially start Spring Cleaning around here.  I sure needs it!

Have a bunch of stuff to do before I can even think about the trains today!  Best get moving!

Good morning, Diners! ...... I'll have coffee and a carmel pecan roll, please.

I have a lot of non-model-railroad stuff keeping me too busy. However, I have been installing Rix "concrete" railings around my downtown over the retaining wall. I'm still waiting for more Chooch stone walls to arrive.

Have a good one, as Jerry says.

Good morning. It's 67° with patchy fog. The high will be 82° and partly cloudy with a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Not much happening today. Have to do laundry this morning. I may be able to get some layout work in later.

Good Morning!! Coffee and a Blueberry bagel please. Lightly toasted and some but…huh? Yes dark roast. Thank you.

Sunny, with a high near 75. Light and variable wind.

Counter top dude will be here to measure tomorrow at 0900. This is good. Once the countertops are done and installed the sink and the plumbing can be done and that means the kitchen will be done!!! As will the “Oh look there’s a spot, let’s put it there” room. This waiting period could take a couple weeks though so nothing happening real quick. Looks like I will be waiting for the office floor after all.

Jim- Good to see you’re having time to stop in more regularly now. I hope that is a good sign.

Ken- Dealt with those kinda people a lot too. Yes I think about w**k a lot and I only am there 3 nighta week but I w**k with one who is the most two faced individuals I have ever met in my life and I have met a lot. Be just as nice to someone to their face and say the most horrible stuff about them behind their back. You’d have to see/hear it to believe it. I kid you not it’s so unbelievable some would say I’m lying about it. And those who know me real well would begin to have doubts about me telling the truth because it is so unbelievably opposite of how he appears to others. He’s that “good” if you will. Anyway one thing about the cheaters, scammers liars etc that I w**ked with over the years, I walked with my head up into every room I’ve ever been into, and been able to look every person in the eye. Well, if I did that. Which I usually don‘t. Kinda got a phobia about that look someone in the eye thing. But I could. Anyway, I haven’t had anything to say about my layout in a longer time than you. So don’t worry about it. All of us have used this forum to blow off a little steam and THAT is Railroad related. HAH!

Moelarrycurly- Glad the cough is moving out.

Well I spoke to Brenda about Sue and Audrey’s opinions. I even showed my hand about the grout and it’s tendencies to mold and mildeeeew. Her response was to think for a couple seconds then say….”the tile around the tub doesn’t do that”. I said, “the tub doesn’t have a shower either. Therefore the soapy water and all doesn’t get sprayed on the stuff. Just like I don’t have to replace the caulking either because of it”. I have yet to get a response. In my world this is good. It means she see’s my point (good) but is trying to figure out a way to get around it (shakey) so she can get her way and prove me wrong (bad because then I never hear the end of it. Unlike when she’s wrong it’s always “OK! We can drop it now.”) I’ve yet to declare victory, and she has not been defeated, but the battle has turned in my favor. What I’m waiting for now is the Hail Mary, the Shock and Awe. Her final Blitz if you will. If I can survive that….THEN! The battle will be won and victory will be mine. Of course that’s prreeeetty much what Custer said too.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

A fried banana please in some coconut ice cream with coconut bits.

Cudaken, I love that burnout going on there! Wow! Cannot even see the car behind all that tire smoke.

About 7-8 months ago I emailed Intermountain asking about acquiring parts for some freight cars I have that need parts to fix them up. Well, having all but forgotten about that I get a box in the mail from Intermountain with the parts inside! I immediately get out an NYC 1937 AAR boxcar model that is missing all but one step, the brake platform and platform supports and take 20-minutes to put them on. The pieces now need some matching paint, I'll experiment with that using Ceramcoat acrylics, but at least the model is complete after many years of being incomplete.

 Evening Fellow Dinners!

 Flo, Beer please.

How many out you folks out there think about work as much as I do? It seems like that is all I think and worry about? I see few of you talk about work a little, but that is all i post about here in the last year or so? I just don't know. Sigh

Guess one of the reasons is Larry was being a real Richard Head today. (was that OK Ulrich and Galaxy?)

I all so wonder if it is because I have nothing else to talk about? I am doing nothing as far as the layout but running the trains.

Oh well, time to watch some darn reruns of Ziva. Yes

Evenin' folks!

Janie just a decaf please.

Got all the way up to 65°F here in the Finger Lakes today....  Way too warm for this time of year!  We already have pollen alerts on the weather channel for here.  Maple trees are already in blossom.  I dug all the rest of the parsnips in the garden this morning.  Good thing as they are already up and growing again.....  Had the largest one tonight for supper.  It was about 15" long and close to 3" across at the top......  Made a good mess of parsnips fried up in real butter!!!  I brought in a large pail of them, so I will be having them a lot in the next few weeks.

Warm weather will continue for the next several days.  May get some liquid sunshine as well.  I expect the asparagus will be up soon.

Babysat for my #2 granddaughter early this afternoon....  She has just turned 3 (party isn't until a week from Saturday) and is getting to be quite a young little lady.  We had a great time!

Vet costs....  Most of the vets around these parts don't charge anything for euthanasia.  Cremation for my Mom's little kittie was all of $85 about 3 years ago.  It may be all the fancy stuff they went for THAT cost a fortune......  I think we can still bury a pet on the property here, even in the city.   A couple years ago a cat was hit and killed out in front of my house.  Neighbors called the police for assistance as the poor thing didn't die right away.  They called the animal control officer,. but he didn't arrive for an hour or so.  By that time it was gone.  Told us just to bury it.

Hope you all have a great night!

Greetings from Sebring,

Back at the track this evening. All things considered, the testing went well. We were at Cape Canaveral with a well known pro team and testing on the space shuttle landing strip. Very cool stuff. Ended up not running over 275kph as the car wold porpise and hit the ground above that but we were testing the ECU in the cat to fix a consistant misfire so that was fine. 0 to 275kph in 3000 ft is not too shabby. either. The landing strip iself counting runoff area is 3 miles long. NASA in these diminished budgetary times is lookiing for civilian/gov't coperative projects so this is ideal.

Tomorrow we start practice for the vintage section of the 12 hour weekend.

Rob - I hear you on the vet costs On the other hand we had arthoscopy for Ruperts hind quarters last year even though I can't get my rotater cuffs done. Gotta have priorities and he asks for so little and was hurting so badly. Just gotta have priorities.

Ken - I know it's hard but doing right will keep you sane. Even if they do give you all the dificult clients.

Losinf my connection so I've gotta run.   Cheers, J.R.

Jeff, that sounds about right on the rain, as this morning's radar was showing some rain moving across Kentucky and mid/eastern Tennessee. From our forecast, that likely means you may be having r**n most of the rest of your week (bummer!).

Weather guessers been moaning and groaning about the forecast all day. Rain from Saturday to Friday.

Big chicken dinner tonight and it's pulling my eyelids down. See y'all tomorrow. Laundry day tomorrow.

Evenin', Chloe - I'll have a Santa Fe mug of coffee and the hot fudge brownie sundae, please. Thank you! Dinner

Rob, take your time and get rested up until you feel better. That IS a tad high for just spaying your dog - sure the vet didn't give Selu a trim, perm and nails polished, too? Whistling

galaxy

Cost my FIL about $600-700 for a "funeral" for his cat with cremation and urn and such to bury him in his back yard. YIKES.

Galaxy - so you can't do like we did (when I was a kid) with my salamander, and before that my black cocker spaniel, and just dig a hole in the backyard anymore? Dang! Hope you get rested up and feel better tomorrow.

Jeff, that sounds about right on the rain, as this morning's radar was showing some rain moving across Kentucky and mid/eastern Tennessee. From our forecast, that likely means you may be having r**n most of the rest of your week (bummer!).

Ulrich, take care of yourself, and do what your doctor suggested for the arrythmia. NOT something to fool around with. We want you around for quite a bit longer, okay?

Barry, I'm guessing that years ago, the Coca-Cola company must've had a LOT of sign painters busy with painting all those signs on the sides of buildings. We have one of those Coca-Cola signs on the side of a very old brick building downtown here.

Curt, I think your w**kday was about as 'fun' as mine. Way longer day than it seemed. Had to go see one guy at county jail mid-morning, and then about midday we had some clients that just took extra bunch of time (getting releases filled out and signed (to request records), co-w**er had what seemed to me like at least a half-hour to an hour long phone call, then not very long before leaving time, had a kid come in (co-w**ker and I flipped a coin to see who'd see the kid - he did). And with all the assorted stuff going on, no lunch break at all. Had two cans of Pibb and a couple of those Snicker's mini-bars to tide me over until I could get home. Not the most nutritious day, either. Hope tomorrow isn't as disorganized.

This evening, I've been going through my iTunes and trying to find 'missing' tracks and eliminate duplicate tracks (out of over 6 or 7 thousand tracks...). Yeah, I'm a music junkie, Ray. Wink (Doesn't count the podcasts and a handful of various videos. Re-organizing the hard drive is SUCH fun! Bang Head

Tomorrow, I need to get by the post office, as I'm pretty sure I have a smaller MRR order that likely came in today.

Think I'll collapse in the corner booth - don't wake me up just yet if I doze off....

Blessings,

Jim in Cape G.

Good Evening....

It is raining on our'n heads right now...and 55F currently...not bad for a day in March here...

Evening at the Diner 03/12/ 2012
Posted by galaxy on Monday, March 12, 2012 4:39 PM

I over did it yesterday so a calm day today.

Relaxing.

Dinner tonight steak and potatoes with asparagus tips.

Tomorrow I have errands, wed. i have grocery shopping and free bread day so will be busy and will need to rest today before I overdo it on those days, too.

I will go now shred the weeks private stuff for pickup tomorrow.

Rain posta settle in here sometime this evening. My thermometer said 68* for a high, but that is a tad warm on the porch without sun though.

ROB- pets are expensive these days, especially if they get sick or need medical treatment. If you don't want the dog, take her to a shelter and give her to them? Here a local Newpaper runs a column where people can call in or wirte in with stuff. One lady wrote in that she couldn't find a vet to honor the "free spay program" voucher she got from the pound when she adopted a dog and couldn't afford to pay for it. SHE got LAMBASTED in the next column by people who thought that if she couldn't afford the animal, she probably shouldn't have one! I don't know what we will do when our 18 y/o or 16 y/o cats get sick,,I hope they go quickly, peacefully and painlessly. We thnk we will not replace them, though we will miss them tremendously! COst my FIL about $600-700 for a "funeral" for his cat with cremation and urn and such to bury him in his back yard. YIKES.

Have a great day.

Strong coffee in a  VERDE CANYON RAILROAD  mug, please. Yup, with an overcast day and rain here today, my thoughts drift back to Arizona.

Been in pain the past few days, the worst being yesterday. Could hardly walk. Either have some (male related) infection or body is trying to pass a stone. Anyway, it is ever so slightly better today, so I'll keep drinking extra fluids, use ice packs and continue to rest except for minimum required chores. DeadOUCH!

Picked up Selu (female Great Pyrenees) from vets today after having her spayed. They had to carry her for me, no way I could lift anything right now. Only cost $315. Another OUCH for a dog I don't even want.Bang Head

Todays highlite was I got to cross a bridge over the main RR tracks through Fairmount, GA. To bad there wasn't a train running under it at the time, but still nice to see some real tracks.Big Smile

Have enjoyed viewing all the pics being posted here.

Cheers! Cowboy Rob

 Morning, I think?

Flo, 2 liters of Coffee Please.

Ray, Boy I am tired, I had to think about your comment for a few seconds before I got your drift.

Still beat from yesterday, I was going to make a run to St Louis. But, the way I feel right now the only trip I will be making is to the couch for a nap.

Good morning. It's 67° and partly cloudy. The high will be 78° with a 20% chance of thunderstorms.

My father has something planned this morning so any plans I might have been thinking of have been moved to this afternoon. I'll know what they are as soon as I think of them.

Happy MONDAY Modelers!

Got into work today and the major client I'm supporting is having major network issues so it's a bit hard to get things done when you can't connect to their network.  Oh well, keep trying...

Mornin' everyone!

How about THAT!  I got in here before noon today.....  Zoe I'll have the #2 special, over easy on the eggs, bacon, home fries, and a double order of sourdough toast.  What?  Of course I want my dark roast coffee!  Please use my FGLK mug.  Thanks!

At the moment it is nice and sunny outside and 48°F with a high of 62° later this afternoon. I need to get out and dig more parsnips before the liquid sunshine takes over this afternoon.

Ken, I started at the photo you put in here last night for a long time.  What Charger?

Jim, they even make pre-assembled switches these days.  The museum had pone put in off the LA&L mainline (old Erie) which passes the museum to access our new siding for the storage of the Empire State Express.

Guess I best get moving and see if I can get anything accomplished today.......
