Good morning, Chloe.  Finally, we have no snow, just the usual horizontal rain.  I'll bet we end up with some flooding in the lowlands.  I will have my usual coffee in a NP mug, please.

Ulrich,  Our friend Jerry is more of a boat modeler that a MR modeler.  He has done some beautiful models.  Can't wait to see your end project.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of Buttermilk Pancakes smothered in fresh NYS Maple Syrup, a side order of bacon, and a cup of dark roast coffee in a FGLK Mug, please.  I do hope you have a fresh pot of the dark roast made as I will be needing more.

Got up 2 hours early again this morning to see if the contractor would show this morning....  He was supposed to come late yesterday afternoon to do the final coat of mud on the drywall joints...  He didn't.  Hopefully he will show up late this afternoon.  Of course I may be Canandaigua then.  Confused

I'll be out to my son's house early afternoon to load up some old TV's and other electronic gear to take to the recycling center here in Geneva.  He will follow me home with his girls and help me load the old laser printer and a couple other things into the truck.  I can then take them over to the place and get them unloaded.

Jeff, glad you are high and dry.

Tom, sounds like a good plan to me.  I look forward to meeting you and your wife and showing off the SLOW.

I have a few things I would like to get done this morning as long as I am now awake, so I think I will mosey on to some other things......

Mornin,,, an irish please Zoe. Weathers sure been nice round here lately, with mostly sunny skies and temps close or at 80. Gotta chance for rain today and the next 4-5 days, but still warm.

Hadn’t made it in for a few days, been busy with the, needing dones n kids, you know just normal days round here.

Made it up it up to the train show last Sat, but I missed seeing Jerry there. Wasn’t a big selection of HO stuff and most was high priced. Did pickup a Train Miniature powered PRR f-3 or 4 for 25,,,, a Bachman PRR f-3 dummy for 5,,,,, a Milwaukie 40’ box car kit made by Rib Side Cars [made in Bensenville, ILL] for 7.50,,,, a Bachman 50’ PRR box car for 8,,,, Athern 60’ C&EI box for 4 [needs work] and a few other odds n ends.

I’d like to get over to my NSLHS, but with gas now at $3.90 here and $3.99 in Terre Haute, that’s not likely to happen soon.

Well I had more to say, but gotta get moving, time to chase kids and finish chores. Thoughts for all those in need n hope ya’ll has a gooden

I was gonna ask Jeffrey if he had any of the troubled flooding Southern Lousiana got, as he complained about a lot of rain, but I seee he has been posting so he must be ok. I know he's in the Mif=ddle western side of the state. I also wonder if hte pond behind his parents house is once again full?

No problem for me. I'm on high ground here and just mean and ornery as ever. The lake is overfull resulting in the lower part of my parents back yard being under a foot of flood water. My nephew, niece and her husband were working down there yesterday repairing a wood foot bridge my father and I built in the late 80's. At between forty to sixty feet long it's not a small bridge as they found when they were figuring out how much lumber they'd need for the repairs. I told them when they thought they had it figured out to take the numbers they came up with and increase the amount by half. They thought I was crazy but now they admit it's what they should've done as they have to go back to town to get more lumber they didn't think they needed.

Meawhile, we have a burning alert and ban for outdoor burning due to little precip this winter. We certainly don't need any rampant fires here!!!

Well, I have to take it easy today, as my back is still screaming at me from yesterday's shopping. Spring cleaning is in the air!

High today 75*! A the A/C will be on later as it warms up and gets hot in here. The A/C also helps keep spring time allergens out!

Maple Surple is being produce now and this weekend if Maple surple festival days! NY and VT make the best Maple surple!!! Also the best aged Cheddar cheese!

I had to take a well known prescription sleep aid last night to sleep aafter 2 dyas of not not sleeping. Slept well, but also have to "sleep off " the pill today too.

Et tu quoque, mi filii Brute!

You too, my son Brutus!

I am not having fond memories of that. I had 7 years of Latin, translating Caesar was not really my favorite!

Lunchtime, Zoe - I´ll go for a burger & fries, and an RBF to wash it down, please.

Did some minor fiddling around with the boat, not much, just stated on some of the rigging. My fingers are way too big and shaky for that job. At least I have figured out how to do the sails - I found a couple of pictures of the Bluenose II inport, which I can use as a reference.

Have a good one!

If there be any in this assembly, any dear friend of
Caesar's, to him I say, that Brutus' love to Caesar
was no less than his. If then that friend demand
why Brutus rose against Caesar, this is my answer:
--Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved
Rome more.

Good Morning All,

Been a busy week and I’m a few days behind in posts.  Saturday and Sunday I’m hoping for a little luck of the Irish as I attend the NMRA DIV 5 train show at Lakeland College.  I’m looking for those uniquely marked rolling stock and small details.  Mostly small details since I don’t need any more rolling stock, I don’t need any more rolling stock, I don’t need any more rolling stock…..

I did finish planting 200 spruce and cedar trees on the coal mine modular section of the layout this week.  I took pictures and as soon as I get some me time I’ll post those.  I’ll be in the rear booth catching up….

Time for me to call it a night. I dug up more photos of a couple of my old layouts, helped assemble and install a homemade wood and wire gate, moved three large bags of potting soil and did a little work on the layout. See y'all tomorrow.

Woke up to a beautiful morning on Seneca Lake. After a hearty breakfast in Watkins Glen, we hit the road for home. Another easy drive in very nice weather and arrived home about 3:00 this afternoon.

Ray - I'm sure we will be able to get together one of these trips. I was hoping to make arrangements with you for our scheduled trip this past October, but that went out the window when the wife broke her leg and blew apart her ankle. Cancelled those reservations as well as ones I had made for the train show in Timonium. This trip was really a spur of the moment thing, so I wouldn't think of trying to impose on you at such short notice. But I'm sure I would enjoy the SLOW as much as my Reisling.

Everybody take care. Tom

Jeff- You have a very nice layout, and have done amazing work with some of the issues you have to overcome. Do you ever have water issues from the AC unit?

Not to date with this unit. One of the old ones leaked so much I had to mount a funnel into the shelf under it to channel the water out through the wall using a hose. That unit was taken apart and checked three times and we never found the problem. One day the compressor went ka-blooey and the problem became very trivial.

Jeff- Your old layout was awesome. I don't think I have ever seen your current layout in it's entirety.

Thanks. That's good work you're doing on your own layout. Keep it up.

Here's the trackplan for mine:

These photos let you see the layout in it's entirety.

Evening All,

Flo I would love a Reuben Sandwich and a Unsweet Ice Tea please.

Puttered around a little today. Glued some figures around the coaling tower, glued some bushes down, and made "empty" coal hoppers. I have been trying to decide how best to do coal hopper filling for operations so I decided to make all the cars I could empty (residual coal on bottom) and then pull them into the tower, fill them, (put loads in them) and pull them out full.

Ken- That is a sweet looking car.

Jeff- Your old layout was awesome. I don't think I have ever seen your current layout in it's entirety.

Ulrich- Very nice looking hull. To simulate being inport I would think that if you wrap the sails around the horizontal sail support and tie them to it they would look like real life.

Everyone take care and prayers for those in need.

 Afternoon Fellow Dinners!

Flo, did Ray buy me anymore Beer? Big Smile Oh, just the one. Sigh Oh well, Beer Please.

Got off at 3:00 PM, so this is the other half lives? I could get use to this, coming home and being able to see the house! But, it was just today, Thursday I close again.

Curt No that is not my Cuda. Personally I do not like the paint scheme, but would not mind pulling the wheelie! My 1970 Cuda is pretty close to stock, well compared to my other cars that is. Has headers, DB 4 intake, Holley 750, MSD 7AL, nasty 727 transmission with Hemi clutch can, TCM 3500 stall converter  and 3.23 Sure Grip Rear End. While it is easy to drive with it stock cam and heads it will still run a 14.01. Not bad for a warmed over 383 that still can get 15 MPG.

Best picture I have up loaded at this point.

Ding dang now I am getting an ear infection  Sad

This is the time of year for it. You'll be wanting to get that checked out quick. On eof my family members neglected to and now has a complete hearing loss in that ear.

Well, here I am again at my parents place. I came down to look for some boat parts for my father. It's a pair of cushioned wall panels that fasten to the inner side of the boats sides but neither I nor my father can think of the name of the part. So I took the time to hunt up some more old layout photos. This phase of the layout came after the other one so it was started in the latter part of 1999. I don't remember exactly when these photos were taken but it was definitely after 2002. My parents had internet service then and it was before I joined any forums. The background I used I downloaded from the net. The upper level is still intact so these are pre-Katrina. By the time Katrina and Rita came through the upper level was long gone and the track on the lower level had been relaid. Here are the photos:

The top of the tunnel was unchanged except for the removal of the weeds and twigs. The entire top could be lifted off as one piece to allow access to a six foot tunnel for maintenance, recovery of derailed equipment and fishing out the cat. It was one of her favorite hiding places. The structures on the top of the tunnel were lit. The wires from the top section plugged into an outlet in the tunnel.

The crane car is an old Tyco toy left over from the 70's. The underside and trucks were long gone so it's sitting on a boxcar frame and trucks.

The embankment was made with pieces of white foam with thin pieces of white foam pushed into the gaps. The 'plateau' was hollow an dthe entire town section lifted up to reveal an access hole. The town structures were lit so the plug underneath the town section had to be unplugged for the town to be lifted off.

The roads were made with pieces of poster board. They had a nasty habit of wrinkling whenever the humidity was high.

The red structure was a ceramic house I found on sale at a gift store.

The tunnel portal was made from Sculpy modeling compound. It was the one and only time I used Sculpy.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a pot of dark roast coffee and a bowl of muesli cereal please....  I'll save room for Pi later.......

Got up early this morning for the guy to come back and do the second coat of mud on the sheetrock.  He is considering getting into model railroading...  A mutual friend (he is refinishing the basement for the guys G scale empire rebuild) still has a lot of n scale he wants to sell.  I didn't tell him how addictive the hobby is. Smile, Wink & Grin  He will come back late this afternoon and put the last coat of mud on the joints.  I have to get a plastic barrier up to keep the dust out of the other layout room so he can sand it tomorrow.

Sun is busy shining here in the Finger Lakes at the moment.  In fact they say it should be shining all day until sundown in these parts.  Current temperature is 49°F with a high of 58°F this afternoon.

Guess I will see about how to put up the plastic sheeting to best protect the older part of the layout.  Later!

Well, the grocery shopping is done and the wallet is $150 lighter, or will be when the CC bill comes in.

MOH went to snoop at the store to see what the dept. manager is doing for amunition against her. MOH found paperwork and She is claiming MOH is "insubordinate" any time she feels like it apparently! SHe is known as the "wicked witch of the EAst', and maybe deserves the title!  SHe would like to see MOH out of the dept. and is trying to force MOH out.

MOH is up to something else I think that will make me very angry, but I cannot express it here.Crying

Well, I think a nap is in order.
