Decaf coffee, please.

***Ray, sharp pics htere, but not much to go on. If anyone can figure it out though. It will be interesting to see what you come up with from that.

***Jeffrey, sounds like you need a long stretch of sunny days. Hope your dad's truck doesn't start floating away. Sure can understand not risking the water...bad idea for sure.

Will be resting in the corner booth a spell.

Evening All,

Sitting here watching the end of Jeopardy. After cleaning and laundry I got all my coal hopper trucks  and wheels painted. I used a combo of Rusty Rail, Burnt Umber and a touch of black. I also put together a AMB shack I had and put it with the coal yard office. After that I shot a layout video that turned out OK.

A PRR H-21

Galaxy- Hope you feel better real soon.

Lion- I really enjoy the  ALCO photos

Jeff- I sure hope your parent's house will be OK with all the rain you guys are getting.

Ray- I sure hate to see old RR equipment and facilities in that kind of condition.

Here is the video I shot today

Everyone have a good night. Prayers for all those in need.

 After Noon Folks! Big Smile

 Flo, Beer Please!

First the Good News I feel like my normal self again! No really news to follow that up with.

I got off work today at 4:30 PM, I was scheduled to get off at 3:00 PM. But we where busy so time past fast. Did not get a lunch break so my feet are killing me right now. 7.5 hours straight of standing and walking will take a toll on the old dogs!

Meet a couple more of the areas managers today. I think I know why I am not getting any where with Dave! I have long hair! Now I do not mean long hair like the 60's and 70's, but my hair touches my ears. These two guys look like GI issued hair cuts! (Larry shaves his head) Now that I am thinking about it none of the Managers I have meet really have any hair, and none of them have a beard?

Could it be that simple? Maybe time to get the hair high and tight again like I was in the Army? My beard on the other hand, I look Weird With Out My Beard. Hides a few scares from my Bar Fight Day's. I was a MP breaking up a Bar Fight and caught a Glass Ash Tray in the mouth. Yes I caught the guy, but sure messed up my pretty faces! Whistling

Old Mopar Pictures Hope you folks are enjoying them. Pictures of the cars in the shop are the special cars that I worked on personally. I did all the blocking of the body work. Blocking is where you get nit picky, and when done right makes a out standing car. While we did 800 everyday cars to ever special we did we did do quite a few of them. Not counting the 69 Dodge Daytona's and Hemi Charger I think the rarest car I worked on was a 69 Vet Z-L1 Not sure if that is the correct letters but it was the special order CPO 427 Vet. Did not take any pictures of it, after all it is a Belly Button Car! Whistling

My specialty is 68 to 1970 Chargers. Did you know that the 68 to 70 Chargers have 13 body lines in the door alone? I amazed more than a few owners when I pointed out body lines the owners never noticed!

Far as the 58 Plymouth, owner saw my Charger sitting in the display window and came in. He had to have us / me to do his car in the same Viper Red as my Charger. It was started on by some body else and we had to redo lot of the work the other person had done. But the Owner kept going "why do I have to pay you to do it again, it is all ready done"? Whistling

I got my way and got the final laugh! After we got the car painted, wet sanded and buffed we went to install the chrome that was done by the other person that did all the body work! (told the owner weeks earlier he need to bring it in) Of the some odd 20 piece's only 10 or so fit the car! Smile, Wink & Grin Asked me what I am going to do? Well here's a few phone numbers and might try E Bay, I am done! So no pictures of the car done.

Well I must be feeling better!

Howdy all.

Got the e-mail back from Athearn finally. They seem to think that the driveshaft has come undone to the front wheelset. They told me to open her up and see what's wrong... I am not excited to open up that Challenger. Sounds like it's a bit of fun opening one of those up.

Garry: I'm doing well, nice to see you. How are things with you?

Jim: I think the AFA's biggest strength is the fact that you get paid to go there. I've heard the education is very good as well but I'd rather go somewhere else. Carnegie Mellon is great because it's really good engineering school and the music school is good there too; so I could double major or get a minor in music. Music means a lot to me!

That's all for now.

Good Evening All,

Time to log out and head home. Nice pics Ray. The dump certainly looks like one now but if you have an idea what it looked like in the day then yes I think there's enough to reconstruct a model.  And which one are you in the cover pic? I'd guess the one in the chair if you're in the shot.

Galaxy - hope you feel better tomorrow. I can't imagine how it feels but my truck drivers' girlfriend is going through much the same thing. Excruciating pain made worse by shots that take a day or more to take effect.

Hope the rest of you have had a good day.  Catch  you all in the AM, J.R.

I see bad storms in Jeffrey's territory prompting tornado warnings in Weezy-ana, and 'Sippi. HOPE Jeffrey is OK!!!

Oh I'm fine. I'm more than thirty feet above the lake. It's my parents I'm concerned about. The lake is WAY up! It's between six and seven feet deep in their back yard and only a few feet below their lowest back door. I went down and moved my mothers car from the east driveway because it's about to be flooded. I moved it to the north driveway which is much higher. That's a disadvantage for her because she has to walk uphill to get to it but it beats having the car submerged. I couldn't get to my fathers pickup because the water is already around it up to the bottoms of the rims. That would require getting my feet under water which I'm absolutely forbidden to do for the simple fact I have a large open wound and there's no telling what's in that water. The people who live further down Vernon Park road are stranded. Twp sections of the road going out are under more than five feet of water. So unless they came out by boat and had somebody pick them up for work they're at home. My neighbor to the north of me (Boston transplant) is watching the rising water very closely. Her house sits a bit lower than my parents house does. She can almost fish off her back porch right now.

I went into town earlier to get my meds refilled then to Wal-Mart to get a few of things. There were several high water spots in town I had to go around. When I got the Wal-Mart main entrance I saw that the bridge deck was under water. It wasn't moving so I was wondering if I could cross it. A guy behind me in a full size pickup answered my question. He went through slowly and it a couple of inches below the bottom of his back bumper. A foot to fifteen inches deep. I could cross that easily. I just eased across and made it to the other side. Not even enough to come in the foot wells in the doors. Going back out I took the long way around past the Lowe's parking area.

My niece works at the hospital in town and she had to park in a different area. Where she usually parks was under water and there were crews trying to pump out some of the areas. Emergency services were pushed almost to the limit. Several parts of the highways north, east and south of town were flooded. The low side of one really busy intersection at highway 171 and LA 10 was flooded. My sister and her husband were out there to help keep traffic moving. They had to turn a four lane into a two lane. Not easy with some of the meat-head drivers around here. But enough about that. Be back when I can.

Evenin' Folks!

Chloe I'll have the sirloin steak special tonight, Baked Potato w/ sour cream (and maybe some fresh chives from my garden), and a trip to the salad bar.  Could use a cup of decaf to go along with all that, please.

Spent most of the day catching up on some odds and ends needing top be done a week or so ago.  Went up and fed Miss Monet Marie, the cat.  Gus, the outdoor cats hasn't been around all week, but he (or something else) has eaten the food I put out for him.

One of the scans I did for the Reunion Committee was a program cover for Bye, Bye, Birdie, the show we did when I was a Junior in High School.

The 50 year old program was faded, yellowed and had a bad stain on one end.  The stain went right up through the white dress, and across the left shoulder of the cute little thing in the white dress sitting on the floor.  That is Sally, the cutest girl in my school by a wide margin!  She was in the class below us and I had a major crush on her since I was a second grader..  The crush only got worse when we got to high school.  She was all of 5'1" and just adorable and sweet besides!  Sally was my date for our Junior Prom.  I was in heaven!  Anyway, I just couldn't have that ugly stain going right over her...  ah,  well...  you know, so I played with photoshop and did my best to rub off the stain, so to speak.  Last night I showed the group both the original scan and the results of my work....  I told them what I was playing with photoshop, paused a second, grinned and said, "I always did want to play with Sally's..... Ah, never mind!"

The 3 ladies sitting right across from me at the table... Two of them had shocked expressions on their face, but the one right across from me who has been a good friend for years just roared...  That got everybody going including the ones with the shocked looks.....  Every once in a while I enjoy being naughty! Whistling

I also did some w*rk with the photos I took of what's left of the coal dump.  Got a couple good shots I will use to try to reconstruct it.

Catch you all later!

Happy Spring Modelers!

Sorry I've been away for a few days, work has been a bit overbearing so not much RR fun time.  Been warm here for a few days now but heading to be more seasonal which is nice; no need to rush Summer getting here.

Galaxy, is your cents off deal on the gas with a Wal-Mart/Murphy's Gas place? Near Cape, another Wally-World has a Murphy's Gas, and if you use a card from Wally, you get a few more cents off than the average person driving by Murphy's. (No, this Murphy's Gas is not related - that I now of - to the famous Murphy...Smile, Wink & Grin

Jim in Cape G.

Nope. Its a regional grocery chain that has a deal with Sunoco Gas stations in the area. You get .10cents  off a gallon {up to 20 gallons} per every $50 you spend on groceries or in the store. You also can earn extra cents off if you buy certain items from a certain manufacturer or distributor. For instance I spent $20 on Hormel products today that were  a} on sale, b} carried a .20 cents off per gallon adition and then C} the $20 coutns towards your $50 too...so I made out ok. Last week it was Clorox products, I think .20cents off for just $15 of Clorox products I would have bought anyway! . DO you really save anything over all? well, Wally world's prices for groceries are aobut the same, and they don't have a gas station at Wally world. ANd at $3.90 a gallon it will be nice to save $1.30 a gallon off! Next week I should be at least $1.50/gallon off minimum......NICE!!!

Well, I have dishes to do and to go down andget the free bread distribution!

Jeff, Hey, I like your metal shed there. Where'd you find it (or did you make it yourself)?

I made that. It's not metal. It's paper. The only plastic part is the base. The rest is paper with a few pieces of wood for framing. I found it on the net some years ago and seeing as it was FREE I downloaded it and printed it out. The hardest part was cutting some of the pieces. I printed it on cardstock. I built two of them. The other one (first one I built) was printed on regular 20 pound paper. I had to construct a sub-frame of cardstock to glue the paper pieces to. So on the second one I printed directly onto cardstock so I could skip the other step. I just looked and I still have the PDF files for the structure and the instructions.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a breakfast bagel w/ cheese and bacon and a cup of dark roast coffee in a FGLK Mug.

Bright and sunny outside this morning, currently 65°F here in the Finger Lakes.  The high will be 67°F (or higher I suspect) which will be yet another record breaker for us.  I could stop all this record breaking weather by simply putting the snowblower away for the year............ Whistling

I didn't get in here last night as I stayed in Canandaigua when I went to feed my sister's cats as i had a reunion committee meeting.  Got home about 10PM and uploaded a bunch of photos I took of what little remains of the old coal unloading platform on what was at one time the Northern Central Division of the PRR.  Only about half of the active committee members were able to be at the meeting last night and we spent 40 minutes rehashing the venue sites for the reunion next year.  I could have been don in about 10 minutes except for an endless string of pros and cons.  I finally said, OK, if I am hearing correctly the choice is between paying $10 more per couple or having two of the three events at the same site.  The ladies in charge (I am supposed to be on that particular committee but have never been included in a meeting yet...) thought for a second and said yes.  So we finally called for a vote and got it over with.  I then asked to have the minutes state the subject is now closed!  Everyone, including those on the venue committee, heartily agreed!  I will have a few photos to share later...

Have an appointment this afternoon at the Allergist to get my ears checked out before the Protoscopic Hearing test tomorrow for the new hearing things to stick in my ears....  Time will tell if they are an improvement from what I have now.

Galaxy, hope you get felling better....  Hopefully at least the injections do help in the long run!

I have one more run up to feed my sister's cats today, and then get to drive to Rochester to pick her up late tonight.  It will be tomorrow by the time I get back home i"m sure.  I do taxi service for her.  THAT is what brothers are for I guess.....  I really don't mind as I really don't want to see her trying to drive 50+ miles late at night after a 3 week tiring trip to the very far.  She also has problems driving after dark.  Oh, I will have to fill up the Yaris before I head to Rochester....  THAT could set me back, ah, $30 or so.....  Darn thing is running on empty after all the trips to Canandaigua this week!

Catchy up to you later!

Good Morning, Zoe, I'll have a glass of Ed's OJ, glass of milk, and a CAW mug of coffee with the #2 special, scrambled, wheat toast and blackberry jam, please. Thank you!

OzJim, if you carved that pier out of a wood block, that is a good job - I am impressed! Thumbs Up On your tornado(es) there, hope no one was injured/killed. AngelAngel

Bill T., is that wig-wag signal currently operating, or how long ago was that taken?

Jeff, how about you freelancing for Atlas' loco power train design group? Bet you could show them a thing or two! Bow (Now how they'd could figure a way to mass-produce what you custom-tailor on individual locos, that they might find harder...) Smile, Wink & Grin Hey, I like your metal shed there. Where'd you find it (or did you make it yourself)?

Goodness, Galaxy - almost 8:30 in the morning? You must be tired out! Well, maybe not so tired, if you are breaking out the Hawaiian shirts! Cool

Ray, so are you telling us that 1) your neighborhood critters come to your place to get tanked? And that 2) your entertainment for the evening was watching them get sloshed? LOL Laugh Love it! (Had a visual of a bald eagle with a citation pad, writing up Mr. Robin for a FWI (Flying While...))

Ken, great to see a classic - love those "fins"!

Rob, I don't know if I've seen that photo of your (completed) "Diner", but it looks great.

Ulrich, I would bet that Christian will remember his many dinners with you and Petra longer than he would even the most expensive present. As was said by others, you gave him the good foundation to become the fine young man that he is now.

Barry, thank you for the update on your friend, and glad to hear he's mending.

Mark, no problem - I'm not even sure of the AF Academy's strengths (as far as majors or specialties) are. The other colleges you mentioned on your list are all top tier (and likely have programs more to your liking, I would guess, eh?).

Todd, I'd like to say that I'm suprised at the turn of events with the sink (but I'd be lying). Sorry to hear that the saga continues...Sigh Hang in there, buddy!

JR, will keep your lab results in my AngelAngel - as you said, could be not a whole lot at all. Thumbs Up

Terry, if someone else hasn't already helped you check things out by this morning (when I'll get this posted), I'll PM ("Start a conversation") with you. But hopefully, you will have found that things are w**king right by then. [Edit:] Sent you a test one.

TSF, good to see you're still kicking!  I am surprised that there's a RR out there that is still using a caboose. You were pretty fortunate to have seen that one. Yeah Got any pics of your club's Supersized container?

Garry, glad you made it back home (and those gas prices are awful lately). Rest up a bit (and let your wallet rest up...)

This morning, it looks like there is a (very) wet train heading almost straight north from the Gulf up across the western parts of Louisiana, Arkansas and Missouri. Our weatherguessers are saying it won't get to eastern Missouri until tonight or tomorrow morning. Bet Jeff's lake there will be full today (and then some)!Wow This looks like it's moving more northerly direction than it is moving east (for now).

JeremyB, my experience with trying to have a fish (though I had a smaller tank than you do) was about the same - I was pretty good at killing the poor fish off. Biggest problem was how to keep the tank clean, plus I never got it right on how to get the fresh water (out of the tap) free enough of the chemicals most water treatment places put in it (and they aren't very helpful for the fish, unless you do something with it - which I never could find or do right). If your last fish dies, you might clean it out and see if you could sell it for a few bucks to a pet shop near your area.

Todd, yep, that sink and backsplash project sounds about like a lot of the things you end up doing there, doesn't it? And of course, after a day or two with the (old) sink out, it will be guess-who's fault that you don't have a usable sink? Whistling

Galaxy, is your cents off deal on the gas with a Wal-Mart/Murphy's Gas place? Near Cape, another Wally-World has a Murphy's Gas, and if you use a card from Wally, you get a few more cents off than the average person driving by Murphy's. (No, this Murphy's Gas is not related - that I know of - to the famous Murphy...Smile, Wink & Grin

I'll be at the RC, diving into my breakfast.

Blessings,

Jim in Cape G.

WEll, the grocery shopping is done. Spent $139 and got some things. More than I'd like to have spent, but less than I anticipated. We also get cents of gallons of gas here withour card. I have $1.30 off my next fillup of 20 gals or less.... now that spring is here, i can let teh tank go down before I fill and I should have anther 20 cents off or so by next week.

I will have to rest the rest of the day,... I swear sometimes the cure {nerve injections} are worse than the pain.

A/c will go on soon as 73* inside now...wil be around 80* outside today!

Morning All,

Off today so I have laundry to do, vacuum the house and hopefully do some modeling. Nothing much planned for the rest of the week.

Jeff- I saw the line of storms you got on TV last night. Glad you made it out of it unscathed.

Sue- Same thing happened to me.

Garry- I read a interesting article in the new quarterly PRRT&HS publication about the CB&Q Zephyr in 1934 in and  around Paoli PA. It also talked about their speed trials and  marketing.

Ken- All those car photos are great. No electric  or smart cars thereMischief.

Everybody take care.

Good morning. It's 53° and the sky is black with clouds. The high will be 60°. There's a 90% chance of rain. A flash flood watch is in effect.

My plans for today. Stay inside. Stay dry. Work on the layout. Sounds good to me. We had some bad storms come through yesterday and last night. Three short power outages that I know of. At least one more while I was asleep. I haven't been outside to look around but I imagine it's a mess out there. I could hear the rain and wind but also the sound of debris hitting the roof and sides of my trailer, most of it making thumping sounds as it hit but once in a while there'd be a load bang as something bigger hit.

Well I can hear another thunderstorm approaching. Weather radar shows it moving NNW and it looks like another nasty one. Be back in when I can. Otherwise I'll be staying under cover.

 Morning All

Flo, Diet Dew to go please.

Well I am feeling a little bit better today. Have to dash off and get ready for work in about 15 minutes.

Rob Glad you like the picture of the 58 Plymouth. I will load up a few more of it and post later. Car was a big pain, and so was the owner. But, for what it was it came out pretty good.

 See you all later tonight.

Good morning, Diners.  I couldn't get in yesterday.  The page said that the site was undergoing maintenance.  Whatever that means.  Well, I will have a quick coffee and go to work.

Good Morning!! Coffee and an order of biscuits and gravy please. Thank you.

Partly sunny, with a high near 83. Breezy, with a south wind between 13 and 21 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Jeff mentioned mosquitoes, we already have a lot of ticks in some woods I hear, so I think this year will be the year of the bug around here.

Ken- That’s right. I remember now. But you are right Cuda Ken does have a better ring to it.

Barry- Glad to hear he’s doing better.

J.R.- Well, long story but a woman is involved you know. The backsplash was caulked to the wall naturally and over the years the house settling and the floor doing what it does and the cabinets following suit they’ve pulled away from the wall a taste and of course recaulking. Well the removal of the caulk had pulled some of the surface of the drywall and some of the couple three coats of paint away and left a surface edge that would show above the backsplash and that requires a skim of mud to smooth out. This has to be done of course before painting the walls Navel Lint Beige, or what ever the color she picked is. Well that has to be done before the counter tops arrive so there doesn’t have to be masking. Not a requirement, just a preference. ANYwho, of course to do the mudding I have to pull the old counter tops away to get to the wall and that requires the sink to be removed. If I do that per her schedule, then that would leave us without a sink for about a week or so. The counter tops leave Springfield today to go to St Louis to be bonded and will return next Wednesday and then however long it takes for them to grind away to fit the measurements for the wall and then delivery will be….sometime we work out. Part of the plumbing/sink is of course the dishwasher drain thereby leaving no dishwashing ability AND, naturally, a HORRIBLE inconvenience in the cooking department almost reQUIREing eating out most every night. There is, in my opinion, an underlying plan to this need to paint the walls right now.Hmm

Jeremy- I had a fish tank when I was a teen. Too much trouble especially on a well. Goldfish are the toughest but not tough enough for me. Sorry can’t help you but it sounds like you’re solving the problem the way I did. By the way, a fish only remembers about a few minutes, so they don’t really suffer very long before they forget they were suffering and think it just started. Not so bad a thing if you think about it.

Gotta pull the sink and then w**k on the wall. She doesn’t really want me to go to the trouble of putting the sink back, but I’ma gonna.

I may go see my little waitress at the Chinese buffet for lunch. I think she misses me. Brenda’s not real fond of this…..attachment of hers. I laugh, she frownsLaugh.

But first.......ZIVA!!!!!Stick out tongue

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Good Morning All,

51F and drizzly out this morning. I'll have a regular and a blueberry muffin please Zoe. Didn't get to the museum after all last night. The couch monster grabbed me and pulled me in with a burst of super gravity. Clever these monsters - then put NCIS on to entrance me. I had no chance. Didn't even make it to the train room.

G - I wear hats but not broad brimmed as they interfere with the headset and wrenching on the cars. I do always wear long pants and shirts with collars and truth be known, in 45 years outside first as a lifeguard and now as a racing mechanic, this is the first time I've had an issue. Normally I don't even get a mild sunburn.

Jeremy - the cure for fish is  -  a cat. My daughter brought one home and within a week all my sons' fish had moved out or at least vanished. The cat said they got a better offer elsewhere but wasn't specific.

Jeff - now that you ask, I think the strange car is a tool car. They use strings of 3 or 4 lashed to gondolas on the old NYC main up the Hudson for work trains. I think the bump in the middle is for long handled rakes and so Galaxy can visit wearing his broad brimmed farmer hat and not bump his head.

Back to the shop. Paperw..k and fabrication today.    CUL< J.R.

Does anybody here have fish tanks?

When we bought the house here the owner was so "kind" as to just leave it for us. To make it even better he just didnt leave one tank but left two, a 20g and 50g. I have only managed to kill off a few fish in that time and the only reason I bring it up today as it looks like I may lose another one I think. Fish aquariums are such a PITA, you think they would be easy to care for but goldfish are such messy little things. Once these ones go I am NEVER going to think about fish again, lol

I cant believe at one point I wanted to get a turtle, glad the wife smacked me for even thinking about it.

So now I have this one fish that looks sick and I dont really think there is anything I can do, sad because I dont want the thing to suffer but what you do?

GMTRacing

Doctors appt today and had some stuff cut off my neck. Thinks it's basel cell something or other but we'll see when the labs come back. Occupational hazard I expect.

JR you probably mean "Basal Cell Carcinoma" a form of skin cancer that rarely matastisizes to other area of the body.

The only "ocupational hazard" is being out in the sun with no wide brimmed hat or kerchief  {bandana} covering your neck!

I had some removed and have deep scars on my forehead to prove it. Have a skin graft to cover where one once was also! I had what I thought were reoccuring bad pimples, but after 5 years of it growing and not permenantly going away, I scheduled an appt. with the dermatologist, and have been wearing wide brimmed hats since during the summer months. I "don't need no mo' " LOL.

Good luck with it!

Howdy.

It was a quick trip to and from Detroit with stop offs in Cincinnati each way. As I said, we needed to haul stuff and I took the truck. I certainly don't appreciate the expensive gasoline. My Avalance has the biggest Chevy V-8 ( 8100) . It will pull any trailer I will ever haul, but this time i had no trailer. The truck was crammed full both ways. I bought my most expensive fill-up in Louisville on the way home. Over 30 gallons at almost $4.00 per gallon. All other fill-ups were partial (about 20-25 gallons) due to credit card  restrictions at "pay at the pump". .... Enough of that rant.

It's good to see everybody here again. Looks like it was a productive weekend.

Ray ... Clouds look great!

Ulrich ..... Feel free to include the Diners in the celebration for your son. We should plan a parade for him with a marching band! ........ Also, teh schooner looks fabulous! ... I hope your health is improving, too.

Mark (Hoople) ... Great to see you again! ... Sounds like you are doing very well. I'm glad to hear it.

TSF ... Great to see you too. Keep in touch!

I'll read your posts more carefully later.

Cheers!
