The 48"Q fans are too small for the KATO SD90 -these must be 52" fans on the prototype I thought they would work but thank GOD I didn't start cutting on the shell. I don't know of a 52" HO scale repalcement... let me know if you do.

Sorry, The site doesn't work well with chrome and I can't activate the link Detail associates parts 229-2007 (single) and 229-2008 (3 pack) .

I saw on another forum that this part is not 100% correct, but I can't seem to find out what is wrong about it.

I am pretty fussy about my motive power roster, which runs in the couple a hundred numbers, but I keep a computer data base of motive power and find I have more of the Mid production SD40-2's from Kato than any other model.  I have 41 of the mid production units and would buy more if my wife wouldn't find out, but she would.

I have not had a single Kato unit fail me unlike the earlier Kato SD40-2's with the crappy wiring system.  I have been able to find them mail order from a lot of different places, all units are Santa Fe which I renumber of course because the mid range only comes in two numbers.  In short, I like them over the Genesis, Atlas, P2K, Athearn RTR and other units in my roster hands down.  So bash them all you like, might drive the price down a little more at a couple of retailers and I can pick up a few more cheaply.

I think KATO makes great products, they just don't make any for my chosen era and prototypes - so I don't have any.

I noticed several people are looking for Kato locos. I suggest trying this link below

I purchased some RS-2, one Amtrak and a couple of SD90Mac's from these people and they still have stock, one of the best stocked Kato retailers online.

Has Kato not been reasonably active over the last few years? My purchases have been (from newest to oldest) Dash 9, SD40-2 Mid Pro, SD70MAC and SD9043. Were some of these re-issues? I was disappointed that the Dash 9 doesn't have the operating ditchlights of the SD40-2 but otherwise I am very pleased with all of these. I am disappointed they won't build a SD70Ace so guess I will have to wait until Athearn release one in MRL. Also would like Kato to build a AMD103/P42 as the Athearn one is not that great and hard to find in the Walthers Ph V scheme.
