Good afternoon on this Christmas eve.  Though I’d share a dawn (two days ago)  It was actually quite a bit more red than that, which is really why I took it, but I haven’t a decent program to play with colours in a shot like this.

Gang, I think Jeremy may have solved the mystery of the disappearing pies!  Everyday he’s been “dropping by”.  I wonder what he may have been “picking up”?   Jeremy, to the Coffee Shop, I guess you need little by way of a tour! As you probably know, ther are a couple of other Ontarians who come by, TrolleyRob, and a chap from Ottawa who was in a few days ago, but whose name I didn’t catch. Pity about tearing down the CN layout, as it strikes me that we CN modelers are outnumbered by CP somewhat.

Jeff:

My browser settings are no different than they were 6 months ago and everything worked then.
…I’m flying blind here, as I know zip about these things.  However, I run Netscape 7.2 as my default browser, and have Explorer because it came with XP (I  think) Do you have two browsers?  If so, does the faulty “Reply” window behave the same in both?

Paul: We Eastern Canadians will live a white Christmas vicariously through your Alburquerque eyes!  Who knew?

Dick:  As a good citizen of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts I hope that your are today celebrating the importance of Brant Rock to the history of Radio Broadcasting.  You will doubtless be more aware than most Canadians of the Canadian inventor Reginald Aubrey Fessenden who on December 24th 1906 put his heterodyne technology to work by broadcasting to ships of the United Fruit Company the world’s first voice and music radio program! …As I note in our local museum, commenting on a hand built radio from the mid 1920s, Fessenden’s broadcast that night was a triple first. The first spoken voice broadcast (he gave a speech); the first recorded music (Handel’s Messiah) broadcast; and the first live music broadcast(he played Silent Night on the violin).

He did it with the help of his wife, but was the only broadcaster because he couldn’t get anyone else to join in!

Tea time, after an excellent lunch of Tortiere, baked potato, asparagus, carrots.  Dessert was mince pies and custard. JR regular coffee and home made chocolate rounded things out.

Let’s see how many ways I can graphically express this… Is it OK to hope that Santa brings all you steam enthusiasts coal?

May Christmas be a blessing to you all.

TTFN.

She thinks the kids are going to pack every thing up and take it there and spend the day with him.

Good afternoon everyone and a big welcome to JEREMYSign - Welcome [#welcome]. Just got finished helping the wife with all the Christmas dinner preps for tomorrow, the whole family and all the grandkids (9) will be here ages 10 months to 18. The roast beast is marrinating and now I have my egg nog and Captain Morgan spiced rum, all is well.

DUKE: Time to wake up Duke, Fergie wants to sing Christmas Carols.

PAUL: Now there's a switch, we have grass that is green and long enough to feed a herd of Texas longhorns, and there you are , 1500 miles further SOUTH with a White Christmas. Is the world upside down?

FERGIE: Remember laddie, you and Bill North were dancing on the tables last New Years and the police had to be called.........I hope you behave yourself this year!!!!

BTW, I see a big box under tree with your name on it. It is about 1 foot long, 8 inches tall and 6 inches wide........maybe a 4-8-8-4??

Sure doesn't feel like Christmas around New England this year, temps have been above average for 40 days straight, it is 44F today under partly cloudy skies, with winds strong from the West gusting to 25MPH averaging 15 mph.

Well, we will be headed out soon to church, and then my daughter's house for Christmas Eve, so we will take leave of the CS for now.......I want to wish each and every one of you and your family, a very Merry Christmas!!

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! Good Christmas Eve Afternoon! Zoe, a cup of that eggnog please. Yes, I'll behave myself. Wink [;)]

Fergie, was that the patrons got "pasted," or "wasted"? Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]Whistling [:-^] Good to hear everything is snug and dry in your house. Hope you, Lisa, your Dad and the whole family have a Merry (and toasty warm) Christmas!

Bill R., very nice card - thanks for the link! On your blue paint, you could check if your local Sears has the computerized paint matching - you'd have to buy a quart probably, and it'd be acrylic, but you might be able to get pretty close to the blue your Geep already has. Worth a try, anyway!

Inch, hope everyone gets rested up and kicks their flu bugs out on their keister (spelling?). Lots of juices, eggnog, not cocoa, etc. and stay warm. Wishing yours and especially any who are ailin', good health.

Bill T., thanks for your regular donut run first thing in the morning - and a Merry Christmas (and Great New Year's) for you and yours. Liked your Christmas touch there, too - nice sleigh!

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the Shop, Jeremy - long time lurker, huh? There's a few of us who started out that same way. Hope your Christmas is Merry and that you have a chance to get another layout started this New Year. Have a cup on me - tell Zoe to put it on my tab!

Hey, PC - my shopping's done, but since that one's not gonna be here 'til Tuesday, my wrapping isn't done. But I figure that Sarah and Andy will do their celebrating with me maybe between Christmas and next weekend. I'll be putting the rest of my ornaments on the tree tonight. Put some Christmas music on (don't have all of them ripped into my computer, but what I have is 300+ Christmas Tunes. I figure I can listen a while... Then I'll be heading out for 11 p.m. service (with Communion), and no alarm in the morning.

Flip, hope you and Debbie have a great trip (and Christmas), and this trip you don't have to drive quite as much as for work, right? Hope not, anyway. We'll drink a cup of eggnog for you while you're in Miami. I think DerJohn volunteered to pinch Chloe for you, but I might have that one wrong... Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^]

Congrats on your iPod, Slappy/Mike - just don't wear your ears out! Wink [;)] I assume you have some CD's you're planning on putting on that thing, right? Don't forget that each week, the iTunes Store has a couple of free downloads.

Tomorrow about noon, a bunch from our church are going to take some Buffalo Wild Wings and deliver them to various people around town who have to work on Christmas Day. Times when I've helped out before we've delivered to the ambulance people, to the airport south of here (had to leave them outside the door because of security regs), to convenience store workers, and other places. Last year, I think we had about 30-40 people who helped deliver. The owner of the BWW place here goes to the church, so I'm guessing they donated the food (or did it at cost), and church members help in the restaurant with packing up the boxes for transport (The restaurant is closed except for getting the food ready to go). Easy to forget that there are those in lines of work who don't get the day off like most of us do. Most everyone's face lights up when the free lunches arrive. Smile [:)]

Don't miss the decorated Christmas cookies that Chloe and Zoe brought in - they are melt-in-you-mouth tasty! Dinner [dinner] Yum! I might check back later to sample those rum-balls that OzJim is bringing by.

Christmas Eve Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Hi Gang: It's cold here and a little snow is still hanging around. We're about ready for Christmas. I need to go to HD to pick up some stuff for the layout for the grandkids Thomas set. I'll go to the LHS and pisk up some more track Tuesday. Just what my S.I.L. needs is another project.

Fargo: My dad passed away 24 years ago and I think of him often. I know that this will be a little rough Christmas, but you will make it. Just think of the good times that you and he had. If you need alittle help just drop in. We'll be here for you.

Inch: Great poem.

To everyone here I hope that you all have a joyous Christmas and a Happy New year.

They made a change to the forums a few weeks ago, to accomodate IE7.  Maybe it's something to do with that?

I too am on a cable connection and the biggest thing that I noticed is that most of the time pages take forever to open.  Once they're open they load OK, it's just that opening them can take almost a minute.  This doesn't happen on other forums or sites.

Good Morning All;

Well it's getting that time of year. Yep, New Year. I still have not found the answers to two questions that have been bugging me. The Coffee Shop seams like the place to get them answered. Here they are'

Question 1;
Who was the first person to say, "See that chicken over there? I'm gonna eat the next thing that comes outta its butt."

Question 2;

Do illiterate (no offence intended) people get the full effect of Alphabet Soup?

Here's my New Year thought;
I used to eat a lot of natural foods,
until I learned that most people die of natural causes.

Hardies here I come.

Happy New year
See ya

WELCOME TO THE CS, JEREMY. We talk about most anything in here, so don't be shy. We do wish you a Happy Holiday and hope Santa brings you everything you was wishing for this year.

PC, MoM got one of those large free standing jewelry cabinets for Christmas. Coarse it was empty. Did get all the shopping done, and got it all wrapped. The plan in my neck of the woods is taking the day off. We will just chill out and wait for the rains that are coming. Then tonight it will get colder dropping down to about 35 degrees by morning.

RT, thanks for posting that Christmas card. Guess I must have been good this year, what with all the presents Santa left at the bottom of the fire place.LOL

FLIP, hope you and Deb have a great Christmas in Miami.

Going to my sisters tomorrow, then we will be going to Mississippi on Tueday. Will probibly be gone all week. Hopefully the weather won't be to bad so I can get a few things done. Would like to be moved before this time next year. Have a great holiday all.

Hi,

Just wanted to wish a Merry one to all my friends here in the old neighborhood.  Thanx to all of you who have sent me "cards".  Life is happening at warp speed these days, not much time for me to engage in forum chitchat.  Best wishes all!

I'm on a cable connection and it does that to me!

Jeremy!  I was wondering who the lurker in the corner was over there.  Glad you introduced yourself.  Were a pretty vocal bunch, so you'll have to speak up more often, OK?  It's hard to read body language in this coffee shop, ya know?  Almost a tough as reading lips in here!

Morning all!

Everyone got their shopping done?

How about the wrapping?

Yeah, I thought so!

Christmas tree looking full underniegth?

Can you still run your train?

Thats a priority, isn't it?

Well we went to Christmas at my wifes fathers side of the family yesterday.  My wife cleaned up!  She got  and a standing floor model type jewelry case filled with jewelry.  It's from her Aunt Lilly, so it's all the real deal.  That jewelry case was full too!  My wife was overjoyed!

Tonight we have Christmas Eve service at the church and then it's over to the grandparents house for a Christmas Eve dinner and some more presents for the kids.

Later tonight we'll be waiting on the big guy himself!

So whats the plan in your neck of the woods today?

My other interest are Formula one and Major league baseball. well talk to you guys later on have a merry christmas

Good evening all: It’s been raining pretty steadily here for about 6 or 7 hours.  Got a walk in after dinner with Rosie-the-dog, and didn’t get too wet. The wind’s getting up a bit now, so I’m glad of the dry and warm indoors.  Presents all wrapped and ready, so now it’s time to think a bit about the real meaning of Christmas, and tomorrow is just right for that.

Jeff:  Sounds like a pretty good shopping expedition you had there…

…by PC…Jeff, mine comes up like that at first, but if I wait a few seconds before I type it gives me a menu box with all the options in between where it says "Message" and the place where you type.
…I get the same, only slower and not even the Preview /Post buttons.  Then, after a while, just as PC says, the whole thing comes in.  It’s just a matter of waiting with this dial up.

OZJim:

I'll try stop by Christmas day, with some Rum-balls and maybe some Leg ham or Roast to share with you guys...sound good?
…Sounds great! Bring it on!

PC: Thanks for looking after the decorations, way better now! Your illuminated loco reminds me that we haven’t seen Noah recently, and his pics of the CP Christmas Train.  Are they not doing that this year, anyone know?

CapeJim:

Fergie, did you or DerJohn bring by some logs for the woodstove? It's toasty warm in here.
…Fergie’s not saying, and it wasn’t me, maybe Luc?..I saw this pickup out back as I was sneaking in my usual back entrance.

RT:  Thanks for the card. Took a bit of getting used to not being able to drag and drop!

Bed time once more, so Goodnight everyone, and God Bless. Prayers for all those in need of healing, and those for whom this is a particularly difficult time of the year.

Not much on the go this evening except the heavans have opened up and it's a torential downpour out there! Thank God the house is weather tight now!!

So is everybody ready for Christmas yet? And what cha get me! Whistling [:-^]

Fargo: All is cool

JR: Can't drink that stuff in here anymore as some of the "Patrons" got out of hand last New Years and redecorated the joint but then again Zoe and Flo redecorated the "Patrons".

As black out restrictions applied the fight was not televised.

Too bad as rumour had it  some of the older crowd got pasted!

On your plain text box, does your browser have some settings turned off (like loading images from other servers, not allowing certain scripts, etc.)? Thought it might be a setting, since sometimes when I upgrade my FireFox, I have to go in and adjust some of the settings which I guess it handles different in the newer version.
Jim: All the settings are the same as they were a month ago, and everything was working then.

Good afternoon, Chloe. I see Duke's trying to nap in the corner booth. I'll let him sleep for now. A cup of hot cocoa for me, please.Smile [:)]

Wish me luck.  I begin my Christmas shopping for 8 people tomorrow.  (As well as put up my tree!)

You glutton for punishment, Dan! Wink [;)] Hope you find a decent parking space out there!

OzJim, that Roast sounds pretty good - do bring it along when you get back. The rum balls sound nice, too, so long as it's all right with Zoe and Chloe - you know how they feel if the party here starts to get too feisty...Shock [:O] Good to hear from you and from TrolleyRob both again! Smile [:)]

RT - nice looking engine. Of course I think it would look better in one of the Western RR colors, but... Evil [}:)]Wink [;)]

NEOH Dan - I'm curious about that 0-5-0 you have. Got a picture of it? (I'm trying to figure where that fifth wheel fits...) Wink [;)]

Jeff, your trip turned out better than I would've guessed from the start of it. With the way your savings were increasing along the way, do you think you might've broken even or come out ahead if you had been gone even longer? [tee hee]Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]  On your plain text box, does your browser have some settings turned off (like loading images from other servers, not allowing certain scripts, etc.)? Thought it might be a setting, since sometimes when I upgrade my FireFox, I have to go in and adjust some of the settings which I guess it handles different in the newer version.

Got my Christmas shopping done today (except need to go online and get my brother's gift certificate off to him. Need to wrap my S-I-L's gift card/box, and Tuesday when my daughter's Apple Store card shows up, will need to wrap that, too.

Nice decorations, PC! Thanks! That really brightens up the place. Of course, with all the lights in here now, Duke may have a tough time sleeping in the corner booth until after New Year's... Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Our weather here is pretty good. Only warming up to about 50-51 F (and feels a bit cooler, almost that kind of 'about to snow' smell to the air), but the sun came out, so it's good enough weather while we're waiting for a chance of snow. The prognosticators are saying that - not in the morning, mind you - there might be some chance of a dab of snow later on Christmas Day, but it won't be enough to stick long.

Fergie, did you or DerJohn bring by some logs for the woodstove? It's toasty warm in here. I think I saw some snowflakes outside the front window, too.

My wrapping awaits! See you guys later (either tonight, or tomorrow afternoon), and enjoy your last-minute preparations, and the eggnog supply that I saw Zoe and Chloe have laid in for us.

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Good morning guys. I'll have some pancakes and a milk. Nothin much over here, just waiting... I doubt I'll be in day after tommorow. It's always a day where I don't use the net. I might pop in about 2 or 3 tommorow. Merry Christmas, Mark
