Hi all

Tram bits arrived today, but will take a little time to work on – I think I may have hit the OO tram version of “writer's block”. The G scale is far more enticing now the weather is better. Having said that, I think I've found a reliable way to make it rain. Just start cleaning telescope eyepieces and planning an evening's observation, the skies will go cloudy in minutes!

Ryan, it might get that dry later in the year – large chunks of the South-East already have hosepipe bans which aren't popular. Main complaint seems to be that water companies are failing to fix leaks and then restricting their customers, which as might be expected doesn't go down well!

***, that's pretty much how I was thinking – burn now before the weather gets too hot (and while I'm still allowed to grab a hose if it gets out of hand).

KenL, my views on the contests are much the same. I must admit I find the whole “Master Model Railroader” thing rather odd – we don't have anything like it here, there are contests at shows but no major certificates like that.

Welcome to the Coffee Shop! We've been hanging out for some time now. Some have been here longer then I have, others, not so long. We'll let ya in though. The DOS thing was short for Destruction Of Stars or something like that. It was basically an anti-star campain from what I've gathered.

We're pretty laid back in here. We even talk about things that have nothing to do with trains once in a while! [:O]

Evening all, barley pop Cleo please.
Alls quiet here; kids have gone home, had supper, think I eat too much. I’ve got the heat stove cleaned and the hopper filled, ready to light. We missed the frost last night, but may get it tonight with lows in the lower 30’s.
Still haven’t found my scale rule yet, so some more cleaning is on for laters.

Ken l , the 3’rd has drop here, grocery prices higher here now than in the bigger towns and we have another electric rate increase coming which will be the 3’rd one in 5 months. So, tomorrows chore list includes getting the laundry done up and hang out to dry, rather than pay the electric for it

Jessie2001 , good to hear from you again. Hope your surgery wasn’t anything to serous.

Hey there y'all. I haven't been in here in a while. I've been fairly busy keeping myself occupied with other things. School...Work...Miscellaneous other tasks and activities. Today was the first meeting of the WCTHS Strategic Gaming Club. And now I have 50% win ratio at chess.

I went roller skating last night and tore it up. My legs kind of hurt now, but it's all worth it. I didn't realize that I had become known alread at the rink. As soon as I got there, I heard people saying..."Watch that dude, he's mad at skating;" and I had requests to do my Spread Eagle split. Heh heh, I love it.

I am in a better mood that my previous post over the weekend; thank God.

Adam: CONGRATULATIONS MAN!!![:D] I knew you'd do well on the test. And now you are a firefighter. Good job. Just keep it up. And of course, keep us updated on your layout progresses.[8D]

Good evening. Just a quickie tonight. Hope everyone is well.

Ken, if there's no conflict with tours I schedule in advance I plan to go to your clinic. So hopefully I'll see you there. I'm not modeling a steel mill but I like to take a few clinics totally unrelated to what I have planned. It's a good way to get exposed to new things and I often get some useful tips I can use.

Congratulations, Adam, I've always had great respect for firemen and police officers. Two jobs I don't think I would want to do.

A quick question for anyone here from around Philadelphia. Does the PA Convention Center have anyplace to store items temporarily, like locker rentals or anything? I'm leaving the convention on Friday but I have to check out of the hotel by noon. That only leaves me about 2 1/2 hours for the National Train Show, unless I can find someplace to store my suitcase(s). If I can't find someplace to store them I might see if I can extend my hotel reservation to Saturday.

I believe the answer would be no to storage at the convention center. I can't picture such unit at the center but when I get a chance I will try to ask some other people who work there if they have an answer.

One thing you can do is ask the hotel if they have a bagroom. Some hotels knowing that their customers need to check but still have business in the area have places to store bags. And it is just about as safe as leaving them in the room.

NJBill's right. What I’ve done before in similar circumstances is to ask the hotel desk staff if I could store the cases with them for a few hours. They’ll probably let you, especially if you set it up when you book in.[tup] It does depend on your getting back from the show to the hotel, but a cab is way cheaper than another night’s stay.

Hi all, and thanks for the congrats, i just finished my other class tonight, that was my first responder class, it is like a short version of EMT, and then next year im going to take EMT. And about me not having to use anything i learned, its a little late, but hey, its what i want to do. I have been thinking and I am going to take down the HO and either replace it with N scale or O, i haven't really decided yet.

Good morning all ! Hope all is going well with everyone. Zoe, I'll have a hot cup of Joe this morning ! It's early, so make it strong.

It seems that all I've had is death and bad news in my posts..... well one more, the owner of the TV station I work for died on Tuesday, he was 78 yrs old. He gave me my first real job, 30+ years ago...... I'm still here. There is a very empty feeling around the station now, but he is in a far better place.

Now, I really hope this is the last sad post I have to make for a long time. On to bigger and better things.

My "sideline" photography business is starting to pick up. It's exciting. I hope to retire from the TV biz by next June 2007 and do all types of photography for the rest of my days. I guess you can say, it's a late carreer change..... or something like that. MRR'ing has sort of been suspended until I get my studio set up, then I will start looking at getting another layout going.

Good Morning All,
Regular and a donut please Zoe. A bit overcast this morning and it will be humid as well. I had to scrape ice off my windshield this morning. I'm expecting a friend in today or tomorrow with a car from Idaho via Ca. Another Brabham BT-30 F2, the ex Jackie Stewart car we had here for a couple of years. The BT - 29 and 30 have become sone of my favorite cars as they are very rugged (for a 900 lb single seater) and respond well to chassis tuning. They have a blunt purposeful look to them and seem to dominate the grids when they appear at historic events. Sort of like the road switchers out here, all business and ready to climb the steepest mountain without complaint or worry (I know you were wondering what the heck a formula 2 car had to do with trains).
Hope everyone is at least on the road to recovery and doing well. In honor of Fergies neighbors, I have added cleaning and checking the dryer vent line to this weekends "to do" list as I haven't done that since late fall last year. All for now - time to pick up tools.

Good morning all....Sunny and cool here this morning...Coffee to go can't stay long we are going to visit Sallie's Dad in the nursing home this morning...He wasn't so well yesterday hope to find him better today...Got to work yesterday put IC 2 bay back in service,got transfer caboose dullcoated and ready for trucks and finished up mounting M/T trucks on Bachman U boat and painted it plan to decal it today...Must have been that lumberjack breakfast yesterday...

Ok, I'm *back*. I've about given up on my 2-8-0. B-man said I need the whole driveassembly[xx(]. I tried putting the rest of it together so I could set the motor *housing* on the new driveassembly (if I got one) and there's no way this thing is going back together. This thing has been such a PITA. I give up. I'm going to lay a short section of track next to the depot and place it on static display. Then, maybe next week I'll order an IHC 4-6-2[:)] so I can have a steamer than will actually RUN for a few years. Sorry for the rant but I'm so G** D*** P***** off at this thing.

Good afternoon gents, been out straight with OUTSIDE projects during this nice spell of excellent weather, clear blue skies, 61F, so we must take advantage of this. The weather forecast for next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday is for cloudy, showers, rain, cool, etc. as a front backs in from the ocean, so that will be time for MRR activities.

DING Between you, Fergie, and others that I read about on the forum, Bachmann locomotives are making me wonder if I should even buy any!!! I don't seem to hear of those problems from B2k or Lifelike, etc. Do you guys notice the same thing?

MATT Hoses are a critical piece of equipment for outside burning, especially if you burn ear fields, or woodlands. I burn at the top of the hill behinf my house, so no matter which way the winds blows, I get nice support for the fire to keep in going well even if a little damp. The one thing that I learned early however, was to make sure that the hose is clear of air, and if left outside over night in March or early April, make sure that ICE has not formed in the hose at the metal connectors!!!! One time many years ago, I did not check this, and when the fire started to spread out from the original pile of brush, I had NO WATER!! Not nice!! I had to use my rakes and shovels to control the fire while my wife poured boiling water on the hose connectors until I had water. I never made that mistake again........water first, then the fire gets lit. Also, the surrounding area gets hosed down too in case of flying sparks.

hi all, chloe i'll have a root beer

N scale is what is in the lead for my scale switch right now. I actually started in N and switched to HO, but i found i could do more with N, and i might as well while i am still young and have the patients for it, and as i get older and the eyes get worse i can move up.
