evening all, could use a barley pop Cleo,
got back from the funeral home a bit ago for a freind of my mine for over 20 years. Some times it's getting harder to go to vistation any more, seems to be to many of them as time passes now. Terry looked just like he always has. He was one of those guys you either liked or couldn't stand, said what was on his mind, even when he was wrong, when ya pushed him. I enjoyed drinking coffee with him when i had the chances.
OK, I'm done with that part , just needed to say it. Alls quiet here getting ready for nighty- nights , and thought I'd stop in fur a short.

DINGOIX , DER, and All , the progress you guys have shown lately gives me some hope on mine. maybe I'll get far enough along to past some pics some day soon.

Think I'll do a PC tonight and just say a blanket prayer for all.

Hi Gang: Not much to report and nothing on the model railroading at all. There is a train show this weekend. Of course I have to work,so I turned in for a 1/2 day of vacation for Saturday afternoon. The only problem is I'll have a loaded check book with me. I hope that it dosen't go off.

Mary Ann and I got alot done today. We went to town and had breakfast then hit the Wally World and the feed store. The company laying the pipe line to our gas well was out working on our crossing for the UP. That's a side benefit of all this mess. We spent the afternoon hanging a couple of gates that we've needed for a couple of years. All great fun.

Trent: Good to hear that everything is all right with the CFO.

RT: I'm sorry to hear about the cat. It's funny how we get attached to animals. As to who did that all I can say is there are people like that who hopefully will get theirs someday.

Well I think that I'll head for bed. My best wishes to everyone.

Good evening gents, hope everyone had a great day. just stopped by for a nightcap, no one here to share a brew with though.

I just got through reading a article giving a sneak peek at Microsoft's next upgrade to Xp Operating System....called VISTA, and Explorer upgrade to 7.0. From what I see, you guys are really going to love some of the nice features in Explorer 7.0 as well as what is in the new OS. It is due to be released this Fall.

Ok, time to hit the sack, TGIF for all you guys still working,

Thanks for the compliment on our museum's workforce, we do try to work to exacting satndards and get the cars restored back to as close to , as we can. takes a long time ( decades in some cases ) as with most museum's it's truly a labour of love !

Hope those datsun parts materialize for you, I kn ow what it's like to be left holding the bag by the work of others.

UKMatt I have a new scratch building project for you. This is a bit of an oddity, a Ruggles rotary snowplow ( electric ) double ended single trucker,28' long with two rotaries at each end.

This is an NS&T car, photo's from 1949, the cars parked in the Welland Avenue yard in St Catharines Ontario ( from the museum collection )

Good morning everyone, cludy out this morning here , but the temp has jumped up to 50F!!!! If the sun comes out it could hit 70F .........we haven't seen 70 on the thermometer since late October ......how sweet it is. All the Spring flowers are coming out early, and the Maple sap is flowing like a hose.......should be a good year!!

Today it's back to the drawing board to work the layout. I don't want to lay tracks until I know just where things will go......as the old saying goes, there is never time to do it right the 1st time, but plenty of time to do it three or four times again and again. Hopefully, I won't have that problem if I plan right. Right now I have to see where to locate the new 130' Walthers Turntable, that baby takes up some serious real estate. I may build a "wing" off the tables to mount the TT.........

See you guys at lunch,

Thanks for the compliment. Never done any cabooses yet, but I want to do an IC caboose as they looked in the 1990s (gray) I have gray paint, but I need to get a wide-vision caboose.

I got my paint from testors today and the red doesn't spray at all!
[:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!] Yes, I shook it up and no it's not clogged. I e-mailed them and am hopeing they send me another can free of charge. My dullcote sprays fine.

Hi all

Essay is now done, next week dissertation. I’ve also been doing a little more on that LT E1 tram kit – it was supposed to have windscreens which I didn’t fit as they looked more trouble than they were worth, but I finally plucked up the courage to make them up and fit them. It looks surprisingly decent, and I’m currently mounting the truck bolsters and ballast before adding the last few transfers. Still no sign of suitable power trucks but I’ll get the bodyshell finished and ready for them.

OZJim, thanks – I bought the Erie-built as I couldn’t find anything else C&NW to go with the bilevel cars, and came up with a story to explain it (basically that it’s been rebuilt internally to F59PH specifications). The FP7 was bought after the Metrolink cars and sort of gravitated to them – they’d been working with an SP SD9 previously!

John, interesting idea – the other problem I’ve hit is that it turns out not all trams were cleared for the tunnel. The Felthams were too big (although they ran through there very slowly to get to the depot, they weren’t cleared for passenger use there) and the E1s had wooden bodywork and were therefore banned. I think I might just go for something simple to begin with – maybe an oval with passing loops and some neat circuitry to automate it so that trams will stop then restart when another one arrives behind them.

Rob, that’s a bit of an oddball but I think I can see where to start. It looks not unlike a standard British 4-wheel box van in overall shape, so a spare bodyshell from Dapol or Hornby (regularly found on ebay) or even a plastic kit like this one http://www.dapol.co.uk/images/stock/railway/kits/c041.jpg might be a good starting point. I’ve seen a works car based on that kit before which looked ok. It’d have to wait its turn though – there’s four others awaiting power units first (two SPUDs and four power trucks). Ordered a couple of Lledo diecast open-top 4-wheelers yesterday, one of which is likely to end up as a trailer while the other will probably get a SPUD if one will fit.

Bye for now

mine is 4'x12' and soon-to-be 4'x20'. HO scale. But it's a journey, not a destination and I'm certainly enjoying the journey.

Good evening folks. This morning’s snow gave way to rain by mid-day, and it’s been off and on with wind since then. We’ve left the car out to try for a brushless wash.[(-D]

RT: Sorry about the computer woes. A pain in the behind for sure.[V]

UKMatt: The small layout with the stop start will work out some of the bugs. Maybe the underpass could be an extension, for the use of the traffic you describe. On the other hand, it's your empire, so you could make whole new rules, and have your passengers sign waivers before boarding.[swg]
I see that John Profumo died on Thursday. I remember the Christine Keeler scandal, and the line by Flanders and Swan,”Nil combustibus pro fumo”, “No smoke without fire”.[(-D] I see your essay is finished,, but Soviet agent Yevgeny Ivanov shared Keeler’s favours. Lord Denning’s inquiry cleared Profumo, but…..nudge nudge [;)] [;)]

I’m about ready to paint the turntable bridge sides and centre frame. There’s a ladder I’m making from a strip of plastic I found years ago and put in my “that looks useful” bin. I think it’s a fastener for cables. Anyway, it’s firm enough to sand donw so the thickness is more to scale without going fuzzy under the sandpaper. I’ve been able to thin the rungs down too, with a small square file. I haven’t shown it on this photo, as I have to paint underneath it, and so will fix it on later. The platform is a walkway from an old caboose, with piano wire railing. The frame is scratch built I beams, as I said yesterday, free plastic. The operator’s house is a paper test of concept mock up. The price is right![:D]

TTFN, I'm off to find the paints.

Evening Gang:

Der: The turntable looks good. If that shack is the mock up I'll be really looking forward to seeing the final product.

Rob: That is one neat little Snoah blower.

Speaking of Snoah, has anyone seen him lately?

Well I'm going to make this a short one. The train show is tomorrow. I talked to Gary ( atsfan) a short time ago and he is going to meet me there. I'll see you all tomorrow and give a report on the show.

Good Evening Coffee Clubbers

Another day without model railroading. [:(] Of course I have only myself to blame. We did get out and play 9 holes of golf. Man is it ever getting hot down here. Over 90F this afternoon. Of couse we teed off at about 11:30. What's that line about mad dogs and Englishmen? [;)]

Will probably head out to the orange grove tomorrow. Time to bring home another Blazer-full of fruit. And check on how the crew is doing with shipments to The Coffee Shop, of course.

John - that's really nice work on the turntable. That will look real good when it's all painted and the area landscaped.

Flip - thanks for theheads up on the Horribly Oversized NdeM (Nacionales de Mexico) boxcars, but think I'll pass. I have enough problems storing my Normal scale cars, without compounding the problem by going multi-scale.

12 pages behind? Sometimes you just have to skip ahead a bit and ignore all the wisdom and hot-air that we spout here. Won't change the world if you jump right to page 970.

*** - "Cowabunga", ah yes, the good old days. "It's Howdy Doody time, it's Howdy Doody time..."

[#welcome] Welcome aboard wetidlerjr, don't think I've said hello yet. Railroad signalman, huh? Nice to have another 1:1 railroader here. Did you mention what railroad? Mike, (aka avidham73) is a train reporter for CP.

Going to make it short tonight. Will catch you guys tomorrow.

Oh, by the way, since no one has commented on it, should I assume all of you are blissfully unaware that Spring Training is in full swing? And that the opening day of baseball season is less than a month away?

I'm not sure who I'm cheering for this year. Oh yeah, of course, it's still the Boston RedSox, but with the wholesale makeover of the team they don't resemble the RedSox I knew and loved. 5 of the 8 starting (non-pitching) positions have new players, including the entire infield.

At least they didn't trade Manny. And Schilling and Foulke look healthy.

Anyway, I now return you to your regularly scheduled programming. But remember,

Wait 'til this year!!!

Hasta mañana

hey everybody.im sorry that i have not been on in a while, but lately ive been having these hobby changes that affect me like, one day im into war history, the next im into star wars, then comes the oh so great model railroading.so these hobby changes are pretty annonying.well anyway,[#welcome] to any new person who may have joined during the time i was gone, which during that time the doctor found out i have a sinus infection,so i have to take 2 GIANT pills for 14 days.and that means that money is a factor,so i plan to let my bank account try to get into at least $500,(which i doubt will happen anytime soon) then withdraw at least $200,buy some modelrailroader magazines, supplies, and wait till remodeling on the basement begins.well ill read the last several pages of the forum tommorow,so ive got to go now.see you tommorow.

Good late evening gents, alone in the CS again, just Zoe and I having a coffee.

ED Don't forget, Trot Nixon is still in right field, and Jason behind the plate. They actually have a real good infield this year, if the pitchers stay healthy, we should do OK.
