Bill-a log time ago, when I was on the road alot more, 2 other officers (one the chief) and myself searched this same funeral home. I went into a darked room and waited for someone to come in to scare, resting on the floor with my hand on the cold tile. When the chief finally got around to the room I was in, he reached in and began feeling around for a light switch. I clamped onto his wrist with my cold, clammy hand, and it's a good thing that there were no dead in the area, 'cause his scream would have awakened them. If I could have had the lightning THEN, now that would have just been gravy.
And I think your right, he'll have 10,000 posts and will have used 600 words! A model of economy!
A general question- do alot- or any-of you have engines setting around that you probably will never use on your layout? Setting in my front room I counted 28 engines on shelves here and there, and I think only 3-4 have even touched track. The rest are gifts or types that I like, but wouldn't actually use . Just decorations.
How weird is this?

I have been wanting to reply to your original post about searching the "home". I thought I might say something like this:

I have heard stories (true or not I don't know and DON'T plan to find out firsthand) about dead bodies giving off gas and making all kinds of noises and having contractions, setting up, raising hands, things like that. It would be my luck to be searching the home and have one of the "customers" sit up or groan. That would be "all she wrote" for me. I would have a heart attack right there. Just throw me in the box. I would be done for. [;)]

That reminds me of a story I posted in the Humor Thread a while back. Now I am going to have to find it and import it over here, or at least give a link to it. I am not sure the link idea worked for the "Your Favorite Railroad Decade", last I had checked on it I was still the last post in it. [:(]

And also i hate it when the train derails inside a tunnel thats being stuck to the ground because it is so hard to get out but what i do is i put another train on and make it slowly pu***he other train to the edge then i take it out.

Jim- You going to give me nightmares. That stuff is just to scary. I probably wouldn't have a heartattack since I'm young but I would pee my pants. I'll tell you that much.

Phil- So Indiana is sending the rain into Ohio. It rained here almost everyday this week. I want the sun to come out so I can jump in my pool, which is finally clear after wrestleing with it for two months full of algea. Lesson learned- cover your pool over the winter.

Jim- I qualified with the chief, the safest place to be was in FRONT of his pistol. Cops might be tough and brave and heroic, but when it comes to funeral homes, they are human and weenie. The only advantage I have is I was raised by a seriously twisted and deranged mama, we spent alot of time scaring my friends in graveyards.Oh the stories!
Her father was the engineer for the Big Four(NYC) and when we visited him, he would tell ghost stories about lonely stretches of track, haunted crossings, and cabooses with someone..or s o m e t h i n g , in them waiting for brakemen . I grew up loving to be scared, and still love it.(Our camping trips are something out of a Rod Serling screenplay)
Andrew- I don't know why you are going all the way to W Va for rafting, the streams around here are class 4's! And if it rains again tomorrow like they say it will,that might just go up.
Boblonain- I tried that pushing a train with a train thing, ended up with 2 stuck trains! Glad it works for you.And stay around, sooner or later you'll hear about java, joe, iced coffee, frapucinos, capucinos, espresso's and all the other versions of the true nectar of the gods!
Bill- And the only pay I'm getting is the fine company here on the forum! Went over to the folks thats building the house tonight, around 2234 we were all so tired that I headed home, got here, woke up and hopped on the 'puter. Just coming into the Coffee Shop wakes me up. If I could just feel this awake all night at work, but come 0400, it starts to drag. Now what are you doing up this late. Arn't you an hour earlier than us?How's the yardwork going?If you put some big klieg lights out back you could ...nah, that's just crazy talk!

I never found the story I was looking for. I went through page after page of the humor thread, but still didn't see it. I found many good jokes and had some good laughs over them.

Here is one you must see. I couldn't get the link to work, it might be my computer and it might not be my computer. Anyway on page 59 of the Humor Thread (Trains.magazine forum) go to page 59 and look for one of my posts talking about criminals being dumb. The link will be in red and contain the words "Bull Guard". Everyone loved this little film clip, it is just too funny for words. When you are bored you should start at page one and read 3 or 4 pages at a time. Not only will it keep you awake, you will be entertained also. Some of the humor is pretty good. There are some stories there that were not posted because they were funny but I posted them because they had a good moral or thought to teach. The one story that I was looking for will have the words, "Dead Ringer" in it. But it talked about people being burried alive and why there was a bell. I don't remember if this was in the story that talked about the "threshhold" or not. I posted these sometime this year but don't remember exactly when. (You know when you get a day over 29 you seem to get forgetful [:D] [;)] [:D] -- and if you believe that then you should buy my ocean front property in Arizona [;)] [:D] )

Another film clip, posted by VSmith I think, showed a lady using a video phone. The original link doesn't work anymore. I couldn't get the "new" link in it to work either. But it is on page 65 if you can get the link to work. This little clip has a surprise ending.

Well I am trying to go to bed but my stomach is not cooperating with me. I have taken about 6 Rolaids and they are not helping. Taco Bell is becoming Taco . . . well you know. [:(]

There was a reference to a certain computer problem that I missed and it had to do w/ adware, and I have left in what prints out when I edited this post. (See the above garbage in the first paragraph, where I simply typed the word adware.) This problem causes my edited posts to have certain targetwords highlighted (w/ an underline and in whatever the dominant color is on that particular webpage (they are 'blue' on this Forum, as an example). The problem went away for about a day earlier this week, and now it's back. If I post a reply and have a need to edit it, when I do it will print out a whole bunch of computer code where that word was, again as illustrated in the beginning of this edited reply.

I believe it may be tied into a 'cookie' called commission junction.com that Kalmbach has graced all of us with. I went to the website of the parent company for that cookies program, and they proudly claim Kalmbach Publishing as one of their happiest and largest users ! Thank you Kalmbach for snooping on us and possibly causing our 'puters to run slow, compromise our privacy, impact our ability to use the Internet for certain searches, etc.

This problem also appears to be associated w/ : search.targetword.com and w/ : search.information.com. You'll get all kinds of filth if you go to either of those sites, so don't (unless you like filth). One of the things this problem causes is, as an example : let's say you're searching a particular site for employment opportunities, and you click on the 3 letter word beginning with a "j" for that (don't want to have to edit the program code that will attach to that word). It will prevent you from ever accessing that site's employment opportunities, and will insert an overlapping full page 'search for whatever that word was' that was highlighted.

Also, when I first click onto this Forum, other Kalmbach Forums, and occassionally on the MSN hot mail main page, the curser will be highlighted w/ a small and brief flaming star? icon, signaling it has attached itself to my curser and wherever I take it.

Anybody experiencing anything like this? It's driving me crazy.

Phil: your dutch colleges rudely woke me up last night, as a carchase ended up in the square just in front of my house: 3 police cars and 3 policemen on motorcycles managed to stop a car and "had to gently persuade" the driver to come out of his car to answer some questions at the police station. looked like an episode of COPS, just in front of my house! and for some reason they let their sirens and lights on, even after the stopped the guy, lots of sound in my usually very silent part of town!

Bill, your computer problems become quite intriging: the targetword site initially the "root of all evil" indeed changed to a filthserving thing so I could not find the software you accidently must have downloaded causing this problem, and have a look at it.
maybe some of the "real computer wizards" on the forum could jump in ( there must be some around, browsing through profiles I came across proffesional IT persons )

edit: I typed in "targetword removal' in my yahoo page and it came up with various solutions for removal of this pest, most manual.
Do not install "spyhunter",it is "free", but it only scans for free is you want it to delete all stuff it found, you have to pay, and Lavasofts Ad-aware listed it as a PEST !
have you tried Ad- aware allready? it is really free for home use and you can find it at http://www.lavasoft.de , the company is german, but site is in english! according to another search I did, stated Ad-aware should be able to remove the targetword pest.

Here's my last post here for a week. I got a fresh cup of coffee and everythings packed, including a couple rr mags to keep me busy in the downtime.
Phil- Ad-aware is a lovely thing. the firt time I ran it it found 300+ plus peices of adware on my computer and made my computer run smoother.
On the question of why I'm going to West virgina to white water. I'm actually going as an adult leader with the boy scout troop I got Eagle from and my dad also runs. It's a great time to get to spend time with my father since he has been busy with work a lot lately. Plus if I can get enough interest I hope to get the ok to teach the mrr merit badge to help further the hobby.
When I get back I have a train show to go to so it will be a nice welcome back.

Bill- I took Andrews advice and downloaded Ad-Aware, ran it last night and it turned up the targetword and information thingies, and I quarrentined them. I only had 4 items total, so I was'nt as bad as some. But it is a pain when you think about it. Kind of upsets you.
lupo- in the words of Maxwell Smart-Sorry about that. I've done that myself, all caught up in the chase, leave the siren on and then can't understand why you need to shout to be heard. No wonder people look so confused at the end of a pursuit.I'll get with your boys and see if I can't get them to drop off a couple of boxes of donuts!They would go good with the coffee here.

I did not have that many problems with the noise in the aftermath of the pursuit, I kindof figured out that it must have been the exitement, and as it woke me up, it gave me the opportunity to see the "show" up close, a chase like that involving that many police officers and vehicles is a rarity overhere, on our quiet little island.

good to see you are using ad-aware it is a fine program, do not forget to update regular, as the fiends it is battling keep cooking up new ways to invade your computer.

I kept having a problem with adware showing up on my computer. I just could not figure out where it was going from. I have done 2 or 3 complete reformat and recovers lately only to find it back again. [:(!] [:(!] [:(!]

When you do a reformat you lose EVERYTHING on your hard drive and have to download everything again. But I was willing to do it to get rid of the adware. The AD A WARE free program just would not get rid of it.

So yesterday I did another reformat and recover. I downloaded my AOL software, then my virus scan, nothing else was downloaded. I got off line and ran the virus scan. Low and behold the Adware showed up again. Now get this. My adware problems were not caused by a visit to any website. They were caused by my own computer and its software from HP. HP's software to restore the computer's original programs contains adware. Here is what I found:

ProcKill-T
Hide Window
ProcKill-T (again yes)
ProcKill-Term

These are all part of the restore disk. [:(!] [:(!] [:(!]

When I found them originally I received a message that the files contain these "unwanted programs" could not be cleaned. So I deleted them. Then I ran another virus scan and found the same 4 programs with the same names in the exact same order but in different files. Again I received the message that these files could not be cleaned. So I tried to delete them and received a message that they could not be deleted because the disk is write protected.

I cannot get rid of them as far as I know. Any ideas?

it seems to me that with a system restore you also reinstall those pests, maybe restore your system to an earlier date on wich the adware problem did not exist ( if possible)
