This is for all those thinking 'bout Bachmann steam--the torque on the main drive wheel is too much for the plastic part. We have ben sending all sorts of steam back as they won't send the right part or its just not avail. but they will replace it for $15 if its a H.O., $10 if its N. Me - I'd stay away from them altogether. You can try some AC on the cracked part and shaft, just let it cure for at least 24hrs before trying to run it.
Finally cought up and now time to go.

Well, I've decided not to get an IHC Pacific because I should be spending my money on track.

Hobbylinc is sending me the track I ordered for free and I get to keep the brass that I didn't order. So I get 15' of track for free[8D] sure, it's brass but I'll use it for industrial spurs I suppose. I can't not use it with my tight budget.

Good morning....I'll have a Root beer float and onion rings please....Couldn't ask for a better day sunny and mild...Got my tranfer caboose on trucks yesterday and should get Uboat back together and in service...Have 2 engines,1 hopper and 2 cabooses painted and decaled for Illinois Central...I did the Uboat in black instead of white and orange but didn't have any black decals...oh well maybe they painted one black?? Well I think this is my 500th post what the heck I'll buy...You all have a good one...Jerry

Good morning to all, another beautiful day here in central Mass, not a cloud in sight, and the temps should hit mid 60's again, it is 45F now at 9am (edst) and heading up fast from a low of 34F at 5am.

J.R. Thanks for the info on Bachmann and IHC locomotives. It is good to receive feedback from actual users.

DING You may have received a lemon from Bachmann, maybe a disgruntled employee assembled your loco, and on a rainy Monday after a bad weekend. LOL Why don't you send it back to see what they can do for you? I have heard from others on the forum who have received new/repaired locos. Worth a try!!!

Sad to say, yet another person was killed by a train here locally this past week. A 25 year old woman from New Hampshire walked out onto the tracks in the town of Brookfield, just 10 miles west of my home, onto the CSX tracks, in front of a freight train hauling 80 cars from Selkirk, NY, doing 50mph. Needless to say, the poor woman was "toast" !! It was raining lightly at the time of the accident, and the engineer said she just stepped out in front of the train. I just don't understand these accidents at all, unless it was not an accident. Either way, very sad.

Ok, time to get outside and get the bluberry patch fenced in....the birds can wipe out 30 bushes faster than we can pick them if they are not protected. Two days ago we were shopping at BJ's ( that is a member warehouse type food super store here ), and they had blueberries selling for $8.99 a quart!!!! Now I know why I work hard and grow our own!!! We can pick 2 GALLONS every day during the season from late June to the end of August. At $8.99 a QUART, man, I can have some fun at the LHS can't I !!!

Good Morning All,
A regular please and maybe an English muffin (have to find out what they are called in England?). Slight overcast out there with temps in the mid 40's. Not bad.
*** - I know Dingo had a real trial with his Bachman, but I have a DCC ready Spectrum 4-8-2 and it has run fine from the beginning. I did have to pay more attention to bumps and misalignment in the track due to the pilot wandering off on its' own, but in the long run it's been good. I also have an IHC 0-8-0 switcher, and it runs but without traction tires, it can't pull more than a couple of cars and forget about hump yards. I haven't tried out my J611 yet but it looks nice. I think QC is not what it used to be. I have three Walthers FA's, one a year or so old, and a new set of FA/FB in NH colors. The old one runs well, but the two new ones are erratic if not downright spastic stopping and starting in jerks instead of smoothly pulling. I haven't dissected them yet, just put them aside until time permits but same mfr, same running gear, and two totally different sets of results. Go figure.

Hope alls well where you are, Ok here so far, worked outside bout all day yesterday. I’m paying for it today, but most the yards mowed, will finish it laters. The rain Paul and Gregs getting will be in here tomorrow, so I’ll get some train time in and some rest for my back n legs
I was fooling round on here last night, I’m still trying to dig up more history on the tracks outback and found this rail fanning site. Had some interesting pics an such on it.

Hey all! I'm in a good mood tonight (maybe because tomorrow is Friday?)

GRAYFOX- I would avoid bachmann (spectrum) steam at all costs. It's not worth the risk. I'd look at IHC, not the most detailed, but good runners, I hear. I've heard it's "The Athearn BB of steam".

Well, today the 2-8-0 has been put on permanent display next to the depot. I laid a short section of track and set it there. It's nice to know I'll never mess with this POS again[^]

I'm off to take a few pics for the upcoming Weekend photo fun as I've done a lot this week.[:D]

Hi Gang: I talked to Ed for a short while. He called to say they were at the reunion and would be here Sat about 1pm. We're supposed to get rain starting tomorrow night so I hope that it has let up by the time they get here. I need to get to the basement and do alittle more cleaning up and to the 7.5 to do the same.

I overherd this the other day here. Fergie is sitting at the table getting ready to eat. He calls Cloe over and says, "This mackrel just winked at me" Cloe replyed, "I told you it was fresh."

I noticed that one of my earlier posts about NMRA's Achievement Program resonated with a few of you (Paul, UK-Matt, Chuck) - that has always been one of my major 'soapbox' issues and I can't help talking about it now and then.

N scale is what is in the lead for my scale switch right now. I actually started in N and switched to HO, but i found i could do more with N, and i might as well while i am still young and have the patients for it, and as i get older and the eyes get worse i can move up.
