John, hope you find out the bus route that'll let you stay off base and get to/from okay. I know it can be done - when I was stationed at Millington, TN (near Memphis), they had reliable bus service (in town and another that ran to Millington), and I was able for a long while to 'commute'. [tup] Key word was reliable (i.e., on-time) buses (unlike the buses in St. Louis when I tried to use those. They stopped even putting a schedule on the bus stop signposts there...[:(!]

Will pray for just the right bus (or combination) to allow you to make the commute and still have some layout space you can use.

Ed a smoothie is fruit, ice, sometimes milk, maybe some protien powder all blended. If you go serious about it, many add additives like bee pollen, vitamin C, and other healthy items. I just like it, kinda like a 7/11 slurpee for adults. Gonna go make a banana, peach one now. Take care all.

Good Morning Ladies and Gentleman! A hot cup a Joe for me this morning!

I’ve been keeping busy with work during the day and the ceramic tile lying at night. The pantry area next to the train room is done now, and I just have the kitchen to complete. I’m going to try to get all the full tile pieces done tonight for the kitchen, and then do all the cut pieces on Friday night. Then on to the grout! I got a call from Lowe’s and the bathroom fixtures that were on special order are in, so we will probably pick them up on Saturday morning, and try to start on that room Saturday. I am redoing the wall wainscoting and plumbing in the bathroom too!

We have had two days of rain, it all started two nights ago with earth shaking thunder and lightening, and then yesterday it rained cats and dogs all day long. At least it has stopped this morning, but more is predicted this afternoon. When will we dry out? I just hope we get some of this rain during the spring when the plants will really need it then.

Seems like everyone is excited about their new positions in the Pack, so it is up to me to get the transition flowing, and hopefully by April the weight will be lifted and they can take over the reigns. I got the threshold in Monday night and sure enough it started to rain Tuesday night, just in time. I just hope the caulk had time to cure! I still need to put a coat of exterior paint on it though, it has about three layers of Kilz primer on it that should be good for a few days. Yes, I have enough to think about keeping the cat and dogs away from the layout, varmits be gone!!!

Man you’re making me miss Mexico! The last time I was there in 1987 we stayed in a hacienda in Cornavaca that was on a tall bank looking over a river. At the time my then girlfriend’s dad was staying at this place because he worked there for about 6 months, we got to tag along for a week. It was fun, and the Yucatan is great too!

Man, that is a long drive! Be sure to take a rest here and there, local roads are sometimes the best way to go, not as much traffic. Good luck with the stress test, and be sure to take some time for relaxation just before the test.

Tim, went and checked for smoothie recipes on the web. Basically what we'd call a "Liquado" down here. But some great ideas. The ones I've seen here seem to be rather ordinary. But they've got some great ideas for jazzing them up, even using orange juice! Imagine that. I'll have to try some.

Hey guys well got my track spikes so now I'm happy[:D] As far as missing in action *** hasen't been around since his snowmobiling trip i hope he is okay as well.Don't send the dogs after poor luct though he's probabley still tired out after two day's agos chase. Yes I do hope gloria hasen't had anymore setbacks as well.Ed I'm sadened I'm sort of a 1to1 person I do run the cars and conduct when I'm at the museum of coarse it isn't completly the same thing but we do have to pass a rigorous safety signal and rules coarse before we even begin to touch the controls. This of coarse is a safety thing for the operators and the visitors since we take people for rides and it's for the saftey of the equipment as well our youngest always operated care was built in 1951 most of the equipment we run is far far older.Anyway cheers for now. Well, I do have a heart. All they did was the echo test. Dr. had an emergecy at hosp.
Never showed up. A p.a. was supposed to come in for the stress test-never showed so after an hour,and the tech not being concerned by the echo test, I left.

Noah- saw my first Wisconsin quarter. Looks like a kids story. The cow eats the corn and LOOK, makes cheese.

Ryan- It's all local county and state 2 laners. Longest one way is 36 miles. It's back and forth,circle around,pickup 2,drop off 1, pickup 2 more drop 3. Chase here, go there.All bleeping day. And every day it's different people but the same headache. At least I know where I'll stop at night just don't know when.
It's a job and I am helping others and have made some nice friends. Downside is loosing some of them. I am very thankful I am healthy at my age to be able to do for them.
Coffee cup is empty-time for refill and then attend to honey-do list Deb has for me. Back to work tomorrow morning.
Oh, if dr. sees the tape of echo test and has neg. thoughts, will get in touch with us.

Morning/afternoon all....

another nice day out here in the land of smog (I can't see the mountains anymore it's so thick) partly cloudy with lots of sunshine..... it's supposed to be around 65 or so today and right on till sunday.... then sunday night or monday morning the weather guessers are saying that it's going to start raining again.... not as bad as this last one but this one will probably break the record of 38 or 39 inches for the season.

in a couple weeks I think my dad and I are going into our storage to look to see if our old train stuff is still in there or not... if it is I will be checking my HO stuff out to make sure it still runs... if there are no problems with it I will be selling it to help get stuff for my new layout... like DCC.

well I'm off for now.... need to find something for breakfast or lunch what ever it is now... see you all later.

Well, I have to get going, it’s back to the old Homework grind. I also hope to work a little on my art project for the Art contest the town has every year. I bet you all can guess what my drawing is.........That’s right! It’s a drawing of the WSOR’s E units, 10A and 10C. I hope it turns out well. I drew one of the WSOR’s regular units last year and it didn’t win, and I don’t expect this one too either, as there just 2d drawings, but at least I’ll have a piece of artwork to match last year.

Good Evenin' Everybody,
It's been a good couple of days in the mountains. The weather hasn't been real pretty, mostly gray and drizzly today, but compared to what other people have dealt with this week, we not complaining at all.

I finally got the updates for the tax program downloaded this morning. I've been messing with them off and on since Monday night. Finally got through the "help" process to a real human being who was both knowledgeable and helpful. That made all the difference. The funny thing is I really like this program. I've used it several times before and it's a good one, but the help process didn't enhance their reputation any. Oh well, that part of it is done and the rest of it is a piece of cake.

I talked to Phil and Amy today. They are in Acworth, Ga. tonight. They've had a good trip so far. Tomorrow Bill and I are going to meet them down there in Kennesaw, near the train store and locomotive museum. It should be a lot of fun. When they head out tomorrow, they'll be heading up I-75 towards home. I-75 runs right next to Kennesaw and its about an hour and 45 minutes from here. It would just be a lot of extra driving tomorrow for them to come up here. Much easier for us to go down there, and they'll be rested when they hit the road.

Der, the road loks really good. Thanks for the info on the process you used. I'm going to have to give it a try. A lot of my roads will be dirt or gravel, but I will have a few paved ones.

Ed, the hail down south of us was fierce. The film they showed on the Atlanta TV was hard to believe. The last time we had severe hail here was in the Spring of '98. We had 4 vehicles in the drive and they all got beaten up badly. Nobody got hurt, the cars got fixed. It could have been a lot worse.

Luc, I hope you get to feeling better quickly. Chicken soup is wonderful stuff when you're not feeling good.

Noah, good luck with the art contest. Have fun with it.

Flip, Sorry the Dr. got tied up and didn't show. That's not much fun when you're ready to get something done. You're absolutely right. We're rich beyond measure in all the ways that really matter. Louise and I play the lottery every now and then. The most we've ever won is five bucks. Our "luck" doesn't run that way, it runs in a much better way.

Wow, dodged a bullet today. The temperature got up into the 90’s!!! [:0] And it's not even the end of February! Fortunately it clouded over around 5:00 and a small cool front (very small) moved in. We’re actually having a bit of drizzle right now and it’s a lot cooler outside. [^] Thought sure I was going to have to run the a/c.

Went out to the orange grove this afternoon for more fruit and fresh squeezed juice. I have really gotten a kick out of this. I know it’s not real farming/ranching like Gregg or Paul do, but for a guy raised in a suburban atmosphere it’s as close to the soil as I’m likely to get. Let’s consider it “gentleman farming”. [:D]

Whoops, bad choice of words. [*^_^*] What I was trying to say was more along the lines of him being the first full time railroad employee (like earning his living at it) on the forum. Didn’t mean to slight your activity at the museum.

Heard today that Vancouver, B.C.has very little snow pack in the mountains. A good bit of their water comes from a hitherto reliable snow pack melting off over the summer. Already the emergency services are concerned about forest fires this season. They have had record sunshine for February, which has been great for hot dog sales at outdoor stands, apparently, but not good for packing that snow!

I did, but I was thinking driving along today that maybe I screwed up the answer. I now think that it was the last two coats of the flex paste that I diluted. The problem that needed solving was the ridges left by the bristles of the brush I used to paint on the flex paste. I used a foam brush for the matte medium.

I was in to an electrical/electronics store today to look for parts for a power source for a NCE Powerhouse DCC unit. They didn’t have a transformer in stock, and while we were talking about it, it came to me that I probably have one in the attic in some electronic gear I haven’t looked at in ages – projects I built for my Alberta layout. So tomorrow I’m off into the dark cold yonder to see if I can save myself a few bucks. Hope you find your treasure too.

Here’s hoping JP has a safe trip out west. Maybe he’ll find a terminal and check in from time to time.

Well I goofed it. I had a post all done on Word and pasted it on to the reply box and than didn’t hit the submit reply. Oh well.

Ed; a chisel plow is a set of shanks that have hardened steel points. The shanks are arranged in a staggered pattern in two or more rows. The frame of the plow is made out of heavy steel for strength and weight. My plow is a 7 shank which is about as much as my 52hp tractor will pull. If Greg is still using that big 4x4 Case he is using a really big plow. If you take your fingers and drag them through the dirt that is how a chisel plow works. So what name is Biggie using now? I tried looking for a post that would look like one of his but could not find any.
