Morning All!

Bill, I'll have some of that coffee please (oh please not the flowery cup, inch will never let me live it down!), Thanks! (whew, the red cup!) [:P]

Attaboy,
My apology still stands. I shouldn't have gone off, it's just a sore subject. (EDIT: I took out some stuff here that doesn't really matter) I do understand about people's reactions and high stress though. I'm the head of the service dept. at Indiana Telephone Co. and I get yelled at every day by the very people who need my help, so I can definately relate. I'm also pretty sure that some of them are not in complete control of all their facilties, but I guess that's not really my call.
Now as for the overtime, being that I do understand the stress level thing, I'm voting for less overtime for you! You guy's do need a break or you'll all go crazy! Do you suppose it would get the boss' attention if you all filed claims saying that your jobs have caused you to loose your minds and so you are now trying to claim benefits?[X-)]

RT,
Words to live by my friend! [(-D]

All,
Well, it's official, as of yesterday afternoon. I signed the paperwork to sell the house. It's been a LONG process working with the govt. to agree on all the terms, but it's a done deal now. It wasn't that they were particularly difficult to work with, they just seemed to be in slow motion. I got eveything I wanted and then some. On the other side of the coin, our new house is progressing nicely. The electric, sewer, and water is all run out to the site and the build pad is in and ready. We had a ton of rain this week but they still managed to rough in the driveway. So anyways, things are progressing along. I should be able to move sometime around the end of September.

One last thing, I believe prayer matters, and I've been praying for you all (Luc, you're on the special list) and I just want you all to know that. We all need prayer, especially the ones who don't think they do.

Early mornin all, coffee Janie thanks, darn yo u smell good today.
Still cold and damp here, 41 outside now. Same forecast again today, cloud and rain,WNW winds 10-15 MPH, highs in the 50s. Weather guesser say another 5 days of this.
Jamie made it in late last night, Don't know what time, I gave up went ta bed bout 10.
Got some more done on the mill dam yesterday and with any luck I'll get it finished today. Then comes the fun part, painting and detailing it, then the bridges and track can go on.

RT , hope your yard sale goes Ok today. I think that engine is just a bit outside my price range.

Ding , I understand now

Think I'll fire up the stove and take some of the chill off the house and hide in the train room awhile. Hope every one has a good day

Quick stop to say hi!

Called BLI today and it loks like it will be three weeks before they can get the parts, that is if they still have parts. I'm not getting a good feeling about this.

I will be starting to put a temporary guard rail up for the layout tomorrow. Then start the process of developing a permanent solution.

I guess this model railroading thing has helped me a bit. Tonight I was working with a group to give ideas for our new church building. It felt a lot like building a layout. We got a lot of positive feedback on our design of the children's nursery wing.

Well off to bed. Good night all!

That was some good cake. There's not even any left[swg].

GMT- I've got a moderate grade, 0.4%, which can be steep at times. I've heard of an IHC Pacific pulling 4 Athearn coaches up a 2.5% grade with no slip.

Cox- I've got a few pics of the Pacific and train but haven't uploaded them to the computer yet.

inch- I could change the trucks, but then I'd have to solder wires on a plastic car...

Hi, all. I was going to stop in yesterday but we had some rather violent storms going through the area. They started shortly before I got home from work and were still going when I went to bed.

PC and Inch, no need to apologize for venting. I've been doing that job for over 18 years and have probably heard it all. Just today one of my claimant's called and started yelling, screaming, and cursing at me. Maybe it's just me, but if I was talking to someone that was making a decision that could affect the rest of my life, I'd be as polite as possible. In all fairness some of them do have mental health issues but some are just...ignorant. (couldn't find a polite way to say it) That's what makes the job so stressful.

Cape Jim, when I get the pics of the old signs I'll be glad to share them. It may be a couple weeks till I get a chance to stop there but I plan to stop as soon as I can.

Not much else going on around here. Our overtime has been extended to at least the end of the federal fiscal year in September. I'm still working on my living room remodeling and hope to finish by some time next week. Maybe even this weekend.

Guess I'll hit the sack, even though it is Friday and I don't have to get up so early tomorrow. See you.

Hi Gang,

I'm Home!!

Thought I'd let someone else have the floor for a while.

I've been bumming for a while. I've been from here to San Francisco and back, and up and down the state a half dozen times on business, and family stuff. Once I even got close to Dukes, but for reasons I explained to him I couldn't stop in. I even got to make it to a couple Highland Games. Gotta go on a diet!!!! I could barely fit into my "Wee Kilt."

I haven't made a lick of headway on the new layout. I still have to drywall and drop the ceiling in the train room. As Duke mentioned in a post, I still haven't closed on the sale of the house. (Down State) The work I'm doing in the train room is contingent on that sale. Oh well, before something really good happens, you have to pay the dues up front.

Got some good rides in though. The bike is purring like a kitten. A loud one!!!![^]

Catch youz guys later,
Bill North

Hi Gang: Just a mark tonight. I spent the day hauling a tractor out to my sons place and than hauling 78 bales of hay out of the fields. No we're not bailing early just hauling very late. Anyway I'm really bushed and ready for bed.

Okay for the Hard core collector of HoO trains I have to get pics for you all but LHS has TRIX by Marklin 4-8-8-4 with 14 wheel tender (this is if I remember correctly LOL) In a wooden Case This is an operating mounted model on track. I believe for about $695.00 U.S. and he usually give a discount for cash (money order) It sure is a beauty.

Been busy trying to get things together for my sales the next few weekends right now unwrapping pricing and rewrapping trains

Evening all, barley pop Zoe,
I’d rather be in at JERRY’s eaten BBQ
Been working some round the house, trying to get some stuff done that was planned for the weekend, but plans changed.

Ding , glade the new engines working good for you. Just wondering, why not change the truck on what you have now. Not trying to talk you out of new cars, just wondering.

Dave , that’s a great buy on the cars, hopes you remember your camera next trip.

Luct , this is a great bunch round here.

Train84 , congrads on winning the contest. Some times you can think better under last minute pressure.

Grayfox , your weather forecast sounds just like ours, rain though next Friday and almost cold. Highs 50’s or 60’s, lows in the 40’s.
Glad you made it in time for the honey glazed.

Ryan , looks like an interesting layout plan you have there.

Think I’ll head to the train room, till weekenders get here.

Afternoon all

Just would like to let you know that I am thinking of those on sick call[angel][angel][angel]

John Very nice indeed and a couple days ago it looked like you have a pic of the hatch and if so,really nice job of blending it in. [^][8D][bow][bow][tup]

Ding [bday] and oh to be that young again but no real complaints

Train 284 CONGRATS!!!

*** We are in the same boat with the weather and that means no riding time for a few days[xx(][:(][tdn] and it won’t be long and I bet I could smell some Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie[:)][;)][dinner] uuummm, uuummmm GOOD!!!!

Ed Good to see you back and what’s this we hear of the possibility of a 7.5” gauge for the orange grove.

Ken The Plexiglass looks good and the slip notches are great for the easy on and off. The creek the other day really looked nice also,my hat is off to you[C):-)][^][:)][tup]

The store where I bought my digital camera gives lessons on how to use it and what some of the pictures that are on it are for,so that means I now know how to use the manual settings and I will try to get some better pics of the clouds I did. Haven’t done much in the basement because of the nice weather we had for a little while but with this low pressure system being around for about the next 5-6 days I just might get back down there.

Oh,***, I have talked to Bill N with a couple Emails and things are going good with him,but as far as I know right now he still hasn’t sold the house down here. That means not much in the model RR for him yet,but maybe soon. He did say about a week ago that there was a forest fire up in his area but they now have everything under control.

That’s about it
Talk to you later and sorry if I missed anyone

Hi All;

..............LUC............
Our prayers for both you and Gloria. I know both of you need prayers because I live with Kathy and all of our problems and when married we tend to worry more abou the better half and not ourselves.

...........ED..........
Welcome back I missed all of your good messages, and a belated Thank You for the e-mail.

........ALL.........
Bath is almost finished just paint and trim; trim was cut yesterday, need to finish sanding wall then paint then trim.............While painting bath will paint walls and ceiling of RR room, ceiling gets a coat of semi-gloss ivory cheep on the surplus table somebody didn't want it, and had the paint shop mix up a color called Powder Blue for the walls Sherman Williams paint ;Kathy says that it is close to the color of the sky here when the sun is out.....
............As for street lights [ stop and go ] RED is on top and GREEN is on bottom. I've only found one place that the lights were upside down and I've not been there in 25 years. Also Kathy rides in the front seat and watches how I drive and at times tells me what the colors are.

Good day all CS inhabitants!

Are we ready for the weekend yet? I am!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there in your families! They deserve a big hug because without them, we would not be here!

I am making progress on my layout design, but still considering if I really want to put in a reversing loop. I have plans for using a turntable and roundhouse, but will most likely not be running a lot of steam. Most of my research shows that a layout with a turntable really does not need a reverse loop, unless you are trying to do continuous loop running. Which I would like to do sometimes! Only problem, there is not enough room in the current plan to have both the reverse loop and the turntable/roundhouse setup. So I guess a point to point system will be the main track plan at this stage.

I’ve gotten some funny responses to the thread on ”Lawn Maintenance Modeled on Layouts?” that I posted a few days ago in the General Discussions area. (http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=64763)

Also, I learned a lot with my question posted on Gauntlet Switch? (http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=65235)

Check them out if you find the topics interesting.

I got a few requests from people to see my layout, and unfortunately it is still in the planning stages at this time. Here are the latest in my current track plan designs for the lower layer:

2D Lower Level Plan

3D Lower Level Plan

I welcome your suggestions and comments!

JP,The virtual café is always ready to supply any all patrons. I will have the dispatcher route another load of lobsters and steamers to the CS this weekend!! Belly up!

Jim, You got it! Every time we watch that show we want to eat king crab.

Ken, I feel your frustration! I had the same experience, seems like no matter how much you score the stuff it still wants to break unevenly. I will have to check out your plexi glass thread. Thanks!

Paul, good luck with the silicon mold making, sounds like a neat way to make them.

Happy Birthday Ding! [bday]

Hey Train 284, Congratulations on winning the bond! Are you going to buy some trains with it?

Good afternoon everyone, just stopped by for a cold drink, and to thank MIKE
for saving the honey glazed dougnuts for me.

Raining today, again, and I see from the weather reports that J.R. is really getting drowned in Connecticut with over 4" of rain in some areas. It is slowly headed our way, and we will see over 6" tonight and tomorrow. No clearing due until next Friday. Last year we had a very similar month of May with only 5 days of sun. I feel like I live in the Northwest.

Off to do some RR layout planning, hopefully I can start laying tracks soon. See you guys at the supper table.

Good morning all.

Gloria and I thank you all for your kind and comforting words. It is sometimes difficult to comprehend that so many on-line friends who, for the most part, only know each other thru this medium can be so genuine and caring.

Words are not enough to express our gratitude.

Very warm thanks to all.

Time to get ready for work...

Good morning all!

Coffee and a donut, please.

Long week on the road. Glad to be home for a few days even if I have a very busy weekend.

I did get the parts ordered from BLI. At least one part of this disaster was painless. Now lets hope the correct parts show up and I can get the engine fixed.

Gotta run. Later.

hey guys, not much has happened lately... i just posted some pics outside i got my fascia up and i think it looks nice, i just gotta lay down about 3 feet of track, then i can ballast and scenick, my favourite part [:)]

for my extension off the end, i was eyeing a Micro Engineering Bridge and decided i HAVE to have it, so when the extension goes up, i will drop the extension down a few inches so the bridge will fit and build up the other end with foam.

and after watching the vid in the mr.com newsletter, i badly want a T55 ES44AC even tho' they are $470 here... [:(]

JimCG: that was one big post! thanks for the mention.[:)]

Picked a great day to burn a PBD, well honey I can't work in the yard today so I guess I will just have to work on my cement plant instead. Went up to Winoda Minn. yesterday had a 1/2 day off. I couldn't beleive my luck, on the east end of town theres a row of grain elevators and two barge to rail or truck companys the CP serves these but to get to them they have to run in the street for about 8 blocks. I looked down from the main street and there they where 2 GP38's and about ten cov. hoppers, sweet! Only thing I had no camera, oh well I got to see them anyway, running right next to all these little old houses.
Stopped in the LHS picked up a LL rtr 50 ton war time hopper list is $24.95 he was selling them for 12.99! I just brought 1 he had 5, so guess where i'm going after I drop my girl off school this, its only 30 miles so what the heck. Plus you run right next to the CP main the whole way.
Jim, I know where your coming from on Walthers, I picked up a P2K 2-8-8-2 at a swap meet in Jan. got it home sound worked but the darn thing didn't run! Sent it in Jan 21 after 3 calls i got it back Apr. 28th ! But here's the kicker inside the box was a little note because you brought this engine used please sent us $25.00 for repairs. Used I brought it new in the box just that is was at a show , guess you can only buy at the local hobby shop, well all I can say is don't hold your breath waiting for my $25.00 bucks!
Do you think I am out of line on this?

Good Morning All,
Coffee and a doughnut would be great Zoe.
I have kid on the bus duty this morning as the CFO is off to Plattsburg to pick up son#2 from college. He's all done for the year already. i also have doggie duty this morning as our faithful pup tries to figure out if it's raining (yes it is). This necessitates several trips out and in before he finally gives up and goes back to sleep. It's a dogs life I tell you.
Think I've figured out track routing for the lower level that will allow two level continous running as well as switching on the lower level.
Ed - welcome back sounds like you had a great trip.
John - that must be one large construction crew you employ. Lots of progress and it looks good.
Ding - if your layout is mostly flat you shouldn't have any problems with traction, but my 4-8-2 bachman lt mountain outpulls my 0-8-0 switcher by double because it won't pull much up hill. I'm thinking seriously about changing to one of the P2K 0-8-0 switchers - they do offer traction tires. Has anyone tried one of those?
Well, time to put the kid on the bus and head out to work. Lots of rain just now - hope we don't all wash away. CUL [:D] J.R.
