Morning All!

No donuts this morning huh? Well, that's probably a good thing! I'll do the coffee thing this morning though. Thanks Chloe!

As to my "windfall", trains would be nice, but getting rid of old bills is nicer! I owe $2500.00 on the car and $500.00 to a guy who helped me out in a pinch a while back when I was getting those REDICULOUS heating bills in the winter, so the money is really already spent. Isn't it funny? I don't even have the money just yet, and it's already gone! I hate when that happens!

It's just cool how God meets those needs though. Those bills were coming up due and God just kind of smiled and said "Don't worry son, I've got this one".

He is good!

BTW, speaking of providing, is everyone full from yesterday? Steak and shrimp all around do it for ya? Good! Glad to be of service!

Hey, has anyone heard from Luc? I've been praying for him. I know that he said he'd be out of here for a while, but I also know that some of you guy's talk off line. Hope all is well with him.

Morning Gang: You will notice that I didn't say good. I am beat this morning. I feel like I just got off work instead of just got here.

Der: The fence by the UP tracks was down abit . The cows had been pushing against it to get to the grass on the right of way. I guess she and 4 others walked over it and got on the ROW. We say the four others and got them back with out trouble. We didn't see that we had one more missing until the next day or so. I think that she got hit the day that they got out. She would have answered Mary Anns calling if she had been alive. It did mess her up considerable. Being hit and than the animals being at her for a week or more. Now we have a week old calf missing. I think that the mother just hide it out and now can't find it. The cow goes looking for it and sees some grass so she forgets about the calf and starts eating. She's a candidate for the sale barn. We are having about 30 trains a day through here now. I guess that the rail work they did is being utilized. The speed has been increased also. We need to work on the fence along the UP. I also have to get ahold of the guy at the railroad about mowing the ROW. I don't mind doing the mowing but I 'd like some help to avoid getting hit.

Well I guess I'll chedk the miantaince log and see if they had any trouble with my stuff. You all have a good one and I'll see you all later.

Warmer here today, with a high in the 70’s, and a chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. So, outside work is on for the day, need to get the mowing done while I can.

I see Der is still making headway on his layout, looks real good, thanks for the update.

Going to try and work on the pond some, while I’m waiting on the grass to dry off some. Would like to get some drywall mud down, so I can start painting that area this weekend and get the bridges set. Best get started on morning chores if I’m going to that

Good evening folks: I’m feeling happy today as I got the lawn mowed (first of the season) before the rain came. It’s really pouring now.
I’ve also discovered a low salt savoury snack. Wasa crisp-bread spread with Becel margarine and sprinkled with a pinch of Pizza spice (from the Bulk Store at Woodlawn, Luc and Fergie) I’ve also tried this with just herbs, they’re good too. I’m thinking of trying the marg with a drop or two of flavour like orange, or peppermint mixed in.

The Flex Paste re-texturing of that road that looked like gravel is proceeding coat by coat. I mixed some black paint into the paste after the first (white) coat. That way I can see where I’ve been, and also I won’t have to re-paint. I think it needs another coat or two, but it looks better to me than the way it was. Here’s then:

And here’s now: I took the opportunity to put a bit more of a curve in the road outside the church.

Good Evening Everyone: Well the mistery of the missing cow is solved. We were looking for a lost calf and checking along the fence at the UP when we smelled something dead. We took a walk down the track and found her in the brush, or at least what was left of her. She had been hit by a train and thrown down the embankment. I found her ear tags in the mess so have a positive identity. So we lost a cow and her unborn calf. At least the cow is insured.

We haven't done anything else tonight so I can't give you a glowing report on some progress on the layout. Tomorrow the meet will be going on and with any luck I'll be able to get over there for awhile. I was going to get over there tonight but cow business took care of that.

PC: I'll just have a sirloin about 1and a half inch thick and medium, with a baked patato with lots of butter, chopped scalions, and bacon. Better have a glass of water with lemon and coffee. For desert I'll have the sugar free cherry pie with a scope of sugar free vanilla ice cream. Oh that sounds so good I may have to take Mary Ann out for steak tomorrow.

Well I guess I've done enough damage for one night. I'll say Good Night.

Hey, I'm not one bit upset!

I got some great news today. Uncle Sam has decided that I've done very well in school and so I've been awarded a $3000.00 grant! Since my school is already paid off I get to pocket the check!

Hi Gang: Here I am trying to stay awake untill quiting time. I see that PC is buying again. boy has he got it down pat. I'll bet he wishes that he didn't.

Ed: The pictures came out looking good. John and his two friends built the bridge in 2 1/2 weeks. It's about 50ft. of wood trestle and 22ft of steel truss bridge. So what did you think of that little locomotive at Dallas? It's been awhile since I've been there. John and I need to go over there and have a look around. You said that they maybe moving. Did they say where? They really do need more space. Of course they have a great place to get attendance. During the state fair there are a couple million people to draw from. The live steam meet starts tomorrow. It's too bad that you couldn't have cordinated so you could have been here for it. Oh well maybe next year.

It's getting close to that time so I'll say so long for now.

Good morning everyone....another rainy day here in New England. At the moment, it is pouring out as another wave off the ocean has brought in copious amounts of Atlantic moisture. Salisbury, Ma in the Northeast corner of the state has hit the jackpot with nearly 20" of rain, an all-time record!!! Where I live in the central highland, we have only received 1.83". Cannons to the east, cannons to the west, but the middle ground is not flooded yet. Everything here is as green as you could imagine, and when the sun comes out tomorrow, the grass will be knee high to an elephant.

Ohh does that hot coffee taste good on a damp rainy day/s. On the MRR front, 3 of Joe Fugate's DVD's arrived in yesterday's mail, so I am headed off to the TV to see what Joe has to share. I have heard from several guys that these DVD's are well worth the $$, and there is a special price if you buy the entire set of 5. 4 &4 are not out yet, 4 is due by winter.

Ok, off to the DVD's, I will see you guys at noontime and give you my synopsis of the 1st show.

A tall mocha café for me! And some of those free donuts too!

Another cool morning, it was 49 degrees on the way into work, but warming up to the mid 70’s this afternoon. No fog today!

inch53, Great history lesson, I think I saw it in an email a while back. Still, very interesting how phrases and sayings came to be. Making some progress on the layout I see!

***, I feel for those in the Northeast, they could use a few paddles right about now. Miami got a deluge yesterday too! And hurricane season starts up again just over a month from now.

Thoughts and prayers go out to those in the NE dealing with the rain and flooding.
Rains stopped here for the moment anyway, but there is a chance for more this afternoon highs in the 60s.
Plan on some time working on the layout today, working on the creek and pond.

304live , Welcome to the CF, have a cup on me. Your story sounds like several others I’ve heard including mine. Either scale you decide on there is some one here modeling it [I’m HO] and can help with any questions

JR , know all bout shooting muzzle loaders, growed up shooting them. Still have my 32cal squirrel riffle. I am just about down to biting the bullet now. I’m pretty well committed round the farm and pond area. Still have some playroom on the rest of the layout though.
Keep us updated on the bridge projects.

Paul , #3 son almost bought a new truck awhile back. Then he figured the payment, for 3 payments,. He could put in a new driveline in his old one. He’s keeping his old one.

Regular and one of Bills doughnuts please Zoe. We're all getting large from the doughnuts, but the price is right - thanks Bill.
Moved trucks some more and launched the rig to Elkhart. Today we load the Summit Point trip and finish some deliveries for NHIS also this week. Busy busy.
Rain has returned but not heavy yet, so far even our backyard is holding up where it usually floods out. The street in front of the shop is also ok so far. Before they dredged the ditch out back, there would have been 100yards of foot deep water covering the road. Lots to do today - I'll try to catch up later. CUL,[:D] J.R.
