Morning all,

back in Lafayette after a hard week in Petal. Sign - Welcome [#welcome]to all the new faces here in the CS. Will take a while for me to catch up with all the things that have happened here in the CS while we were gone.

CHUCK, glad to hear you and Kathy faired well with that weather. My thoughts and prayers were with you.

Left here Monday morning to pull the camper to MS. Only took 5 hours to make the 250 mile trip. Not bad. Took the cat[MESU] this trip. Her first long trip. She did well. Put her cat taxi in the back seat with the door open. She would sleep a while and then roam for a while. But I will say she was glad to be back home last night.

RYAN, did you get the packages OK. There are some old models there. Some I have been storing for over 15 years. Should be enough to make a few nice looking autos. Merry Christmas.

Well got to go back and read up on the last 6 days to see what I have missed. Will catch you all later.

Good Morning, Janie - I'll have what Jeff's having, only make my eggs scrambled. Got any of that blackberry jelly, too, Janie? Great! Thanks.

This afternoon is our club's train session at one of the members layout (the one who has the LHS). I'm sure he will have several SP and Cotton Belt engines, besides what everyone else brings to run. Should be fun. Yeah!! [yeah]

Good to hear the power's back on and you're okay, Chuck and Kathy. 116 mph? Wow - that's some wind!  It's a good thing your pets decided to stay inside, or they'd be in Idaho by now. Shock [:O]

I think our temp here is already about 54 F. I expect there'll be some fog on the way to church this morning. At least it's warm enough that I won't have that fog-stuck-to-the-windshield frosting we've had a couple of days this past week.

Time to start the morning routine and get ready to head out to church. My buddy with the wandering bull wrote and said that apparently while he and his dad were working on part of a fence, that the bull got curious and came over to look, and they got him coralled away from the cows (both my buddy's and the neighbor's - who the bull has gotten out twice to go 'visit', through weak spots in the fence). And Mark only has three cows or so and the one bull - not anywhere near what you might have, Paul.

Blessings on your day,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Also made it to the LHS and picked up some G scale track. Hope to start that layout outside next summer. Mothers been wanting one for a year or so now.

Here's a pic from Terre Haute

Sat. Power back on. Lost no trees. All are fine. Cats and dog stayed in house while storm was here. Wind speed indicator regestered a gust of 116mph could have had more but that was highest lasted almost 36 hours. Now it is cold 45 degrees with wind chill of 35. Had the generator running all the time untill the street lights came on.

Thank You.     Chuck and Kathy     All is well    HI JOHN

Good evening everyone!  Another day to have stayed out of the malls!  I spent some of it washing the car and van with the pressure washer.  They’ll get grotty in no time on our gravel road, but it was getting to where we couldn’t touch anywhere without getting covered in grime..  Dec.16th., and warm enough to do that here. Yeah!

The incident from the film “Battle of the Bulge” that sticks in my memory is the German (commander? intelligence officer? general?) seeing the frozen chocolate cake found in an over-run US Army post.  He orders the suppression of the information, and remarks that they, the Germans, had lost the war.  Any country that could supply their front line troops with frozen cake was unbeatable!

Jeff: Northumberland!  Kris says she thinks she remembers that farm!  It’s very typical of farms in that area, any way.  And Fenicks (That, you may recall is the pronunciation, if not the accent, for Fenwicks) brings back fond memories.  I used to work in a bakery down the road a piece from there, and Kris taught school in Newcastle. We lived in County Durham, up the Tyne river a bit, but my Aunt lived in Ponteland, just north of Newcastle on the road to Edinburgh.

As to mowing the grass, at least ours has the courtesy not to grow at this time of year!

Congratulations to your parents on their 50th.  That’s some achievement!

The smilies have gone on holiday here depending whcih computer I use and I can't seem to get them back. " style='width:14.25pt;height:11.25pt'> I'm doing this reply on my home computer, but at work - no smilies. At any rate I,m glad you realized it was all in sport.
…It was my bad, rather than yours!...BTW I did actually check out some prices for Z when researching the present N layout.  Out of my league, and I’m probably past being comfortable re-railing those puppies.
With all the mess in the Northwest I hope Chuck and Cathy are doing ok.
…I was thinking the same thing earlier today.  I’ll step out of here and send them an email to find out.

Dan:

I'll take it. I didnt think I'd be doing yard work in the middle of December too!It makes me wonder if we are going to hammered in January.
…The way that’s put around here is “We’ll pay for this, just you see….”

Evening all Boy am I tired. been running gas lines under the house all Day. (not fun at all about 1 1/2 feet of room and over 1 foot of body thickness lol. ( not really but sure felt that way )
…wasn’t that heart surgery you had earlier this year?  Take care Sir!

Paul:  Hope that you and Mary Ann get back to 100% before your trip. Angel [angel]

Glad to say the Honey do lists are getting a bit shorter.  Mrr may be possible again in the coming week, especially if those trucks come.

Once more time to get to bed. , and God Bless.  Prayers for all in need of healing, comfort and peace.Angel [angel]

Evening Gang:

Just a short one tonight. I'm kind of feeling simi sick. Is that statement perfectly clear? Mary Ann hasn't  been feeling well since yeaterday. I hope that we don't get sick since we're leaving for Albaquque Wednesday morning. 600 hundred miles when I'm feeling 100% is bad enough, but sick it wouldbe impossible.

Ryan: Those pictures of the Cliff's shaft head frame are in the camera. I just haven't had time to download to the computer. It will be after the holidays.

Well I'm going to hit the sack. I'll see you all tomorrow.

You full well know it Dan...

Missed a great time last night - we went to Terry's house and ran trains on his layout... took me nearly an hour to get my jaw off the floor.

I've been playing with my new toys that were shipped home (school's out for Christmas now) - a Mantua Mikado and a Bachmann Niagara.  The tender on the Niagara needed a little surgery ( had to remove the last wheelset)  to get around my curves; but I'm going to get new track after Christmas sometime.  I fully understand that the smoke is a gimmick, but it doesn't liik that bad... reminds me of the American Flyer locos my uncle has...

I have yet to go to Terry's house and run.I had to work later than I wanted to.Oh the joys of having a business.NYC's niagara is one the best looking locomotive ever!Have you seen the BLI?Nice

Haven't seen the BLI offering of the Niagara - which is probably a good thing... there is no way I could afford one of those on my income...

Hi all,

Lots of new faces here, just taking a break from wiring feeders.( man I hate wiring)Dead [xx(]Censored [censored]

Grayfox liked your sum -up of the war hell of a battle. at least you had a front line. Not a hit and run war like Nam. Fight 15 or 20 mins, then the VC disappear back into their holes.

Well back to the wiring.

I too am wondering when this wierd weather is going to make up it's mind and do what it is supposed to do. If it doesn't, my father may well be mowing his lawn on Christmas day, again.

Good Afternoon All,

With all the mess in the Northwest I hope Chuck and Cathy are doing ok. Sunny and mild here too nice to be indoors, but that is my lot for now. Waiting for the last client to show up hopefully in half an hour or so. I'm always nervous when winter is mild early as we usually get clobbered in the February through early springtime instead.  CUL, J.R.
