I think his main problem will be finding a scale ruler that is calibrated in 'cubits'.....[:D]

Phil, don't look for the magazine issue, that was a joke. I'm armed with optivisor, reading glasses, magnifying glass, stand mounted magnifying glass and I have the flexible-arm-lighted-ring-magnifier (with no good place to mount it for the moment). What I need to do instead of putting all that equipment to good use is convince myself that I don't need to worry about it if I can't readily see it.

Forget your KD springs in Horribly Oversized, try installing the Micro-Trains springs in N!!! There was a post over on the Atlas forum a few days ago from a guy who had been off line a few days because he had a minor heart attack. (The good part was that the attack was relatively minor and he was recuperating well). He posted that he had felt well enough to go down to his model railroad room and work on his trains a bit. He had installed some N scale microtrains coupler conversions!!! I thought to myself that it wouldn't have occurred to me that fighting with those little springs et al would be very soothing and just the thing to do to calm my heart down.

Good Morning Gents

I'm on my second cup of Java, wondering what to do this rainy day. The weather has been rotten this past week, still near zero temps so the garden has to wait unfortunately the Dandielions won't!

I may work on the turn table or the logo, mmmmmmm.

Maybe I'll copyright the logo and word MESS and start a war, any thoughts?[:D][:O][oX)]

Ed- I admire that man, sometimes I think working on trains will cause a heart attack. He must be strong of mind and sound of body! I, on the other hand, am strong of smell and my body makes sounds. Well, we can't have it all, now can we? As for installing N scale springs-HARHARHAR, if I were to go back in N now, I would take bathtub stopper chain and tie it to each end of the cars. Or just sew the cars together. (where IS that rolling stock lock stitch setting at?)I can't even IMAGINE working with those things, and as you saw in my Martian Rail Link post, I can imagine most anything! (speaking of which, N or Z would be good due to train to scenery ratio...maybe I need to look at my N scale again)
Noah, how about Anderson, Richmond and Kokomo? A nice simple central Indiana granger road. No hills, no valleys, and-what's that you say? No interest? Hmmmmm, very well.
Fergmeister- I sure hope thats Celsius your talkin', cause 0 degrees in late May makes me think your in Little America. Or Thule Greenland. Either one of which would be too cold fer me! Also, check out the More Licensing Agreements post by dharmon. It's a hoot!

Yes Mark pulled a good one and yes I was slow to pick up on it. My mind was in work mode and it can be hard sometimes to see the fun side of things even when it's knocking you on the nose.

Where's Lupo?

Thats a good question, I havn't heard of any huge storms hitting his area, so he should'nt be on finger-dike duty.
And I know what you mean by the work thingie, I just got off at 0600 and usually am asleep by now, I've had to go back and correct about a thousand misteaks (just made one there-mistakes) so I understand how work can sap and suck and drain all of the fun out of a person.
Hopefully by tonight lupo will have left his mark.
Goodnight!

Jim, I like it! I think I'll go with Appleton, Reedsburg and Kenosha. It makes sense because the WSOR connects to all those cities (although some are with traffic rights). Why didn't I think of that before. I should have gone local right away![:D]

Evening folks, various little duties arouind the house today so I haven't been on since early this morning.

I'm envious Ferg, I'd love to see 0 C again. The thermometer in the car (not the most accurate on in the world, but a reasonable facimile thereof) registered 36 C at about 1:30 this afternoon. Not a breath of air. And I had to grille lunch (some fish steaks in a spicy sauce, plus tomatos, red bell peppers and squash on the grille). Where we have the gas grille on the patio is probably the hotest part of the yard. I don't even want to guess what is was out there. Fortunately a good breeze came up this afternoon and that's helping a lot.

Tried fixing the overhead fan in junior's room today. I really ought to learn to just call the electrician. [banghead] Oh well, it's apart now. Hopefully the switch I found will work and we'll get it back together tomorrow.

Did absolutely nothing model railroading today (does logging in to the forum count?) but I did get to take a big long nap this afternoon. Being able to take a nap whenever I want has got to be one of the greatest pleasures of being retired.[:D] I want you all to know that it really makes me sad to hear about you guys pulling long shifts at weird hours. [:(]

Take it easy, see you tomorrow. Have to go find a tall iced coffee now...........

Hasta manana

Well it works both ways here. The cold snap which has lasted since the end of December is starting to tick me off. I'm a gardener and these temps are not helping matters much. As my son informed me this morning "you need a minimum of 7 C in order to grow crops" I didn't know that! On the other hand I left Toronto many yeards ago for cooler summer weather, 36C is not my idea of fun or weight loss. I prefer spending my summers up the Labrador coast where the temps are reasonable, Won't happen this year. Then to aggravate matters you post how hard done by you and have to cook fish steaks on the barbie in spicy sauce. Not even 10 in the morning and I'm salivating!! Cruel, real cruel!!!!

My idea of fun is 70-75F all year, rain in the early morn' and sunny all day. I believe it called Bermuda!

Have a large day![:D]

Ferg, your comment about TO made me wonder, so I checked your profile. Surprise, I had you figured for someplace in Maine. Little did I suspect you were a naturalized Bluenoser. Just to let you in on a little secret, I was actually born in Newfoundland. But don't tell anyone, if anyone else on the forum finds out they'll be sure to start a run on Newfie jokes.[swg] I've got an old photo print of the 'Newfie Bullet' plowing through some deep snow, it's out at the local frame place trying to get the glass replaced. It's been there two weeks now, they're having trouble getting non-glare glass. Down here you learn not to be in a hurry for anything.

No barbequing for me today so I'll spare you further temptation....except to mention that as I sit here typing I'm having a mid-morning snack of enchiladas filled with scrambled eggs, and fresh squeezed orange juice (bought the oranges at the local farmers market yesterday).

Guess it's time to stop delaying and go hit that ventilator repair job.

Later

Hello all:

Consuming mass quantities of coffee here in C&O land.

We're still standing here in the coalfields after two days of violent weather. Not much sleep last night (tornado watches, severe storms.) Usual roofs torn off buildings, mobile homes lifted off their foundations, flooding, power outages, etc. Tough part is with the terrain the way it is here, there's not many places where the water can go..
Our friends over in KY and points west really caught it. Morning work is about done; I just looked out and guess what? It's raining sidewards; maybe what my sainted mother used to call a "clearing off shower?"

Have a good day - work safe

Ferg-my place to dream of is Key West- 82F and a 15 MPH breeze in February....ahhhhhh-instead I'm in Indiana, where its almost the same- 15 F with an 82MPH breeze. Oh well.
The big problem with KW -no LHS. At least none in the phone book. It would probably be a clothing optional pet friendly store with Key Lime pie and pina coladas too.Gotta cover all the demographics!

Phil [:)]

I have been to Miami, Homestead, and all the way down to Key West. [:D] I loved it. The reason for the trip was a Nascar race at Homestead. We stayed at homestead and drove down through the keys. I very much would like to go again. I have a picture, that was taken by my roomate (at the time anyway), of a Coast Guard ship and had the picture enlarged. It was taken at sunset and the sky is beautiful. We really enjoyed all the little tourist traps and brought back a lot of "things" (none of them living though [;)] ) from the area. We ate at Jimmy Buffet's restaurant in Key West. It was ok, but I expected more. I still like his music and would love to own about 10 shares of his brother's stock. [:D] [:)] [:D] But them if I could afford them I probally wouldn't care about much anyway. If you know what I mean. [;)] [8D] [:D]

Noah [:)]

My numbers are 27 and 2. After working 27 days in a row I will finally get 2 days off. If it were not a holiday weekend I wouldn't get the 2 days off. Actually it is suspose to be a 3 day weekend for me too but the plane I am working on is way behind schedule and is suspose to go to paint this Tuesday. Usually the paint schedule is "set in stone" BECAUSE the customer is required to make a substantial payment at set intervals and "coming out of paint" is one of those intervals. So we usually don't get any leeway because of that. I can say much about the aircraft we produce other than the fact that they are 30 to 50 million EACH. That is US dollars.

Noah, I have a picture of one of our latest planes that was sold to a major shoe company. I cannot tell the name of the company but many famous sports figures have been in their commerical and even BugsBunny. [:D] [:p] [:D] If you would like to see this specially painted aircraft, paint scheme is suspose to be a athletic shoe [:D] [:D] [:D] ) just send me an email and I will email you the pic.

Well I got to see a train tonight on the way home from work so I am headed to the "Recently I Saw" thread to make a post about it. This thread is in the Trains.magazine forum. See yall there. [:p] [:)] [8D]

What happened? Did everyone fall off the face of the earth while I was at work tonight? [:(] [;)]

I hope not because then I wouldn't have anyone to talk to here in the forums and yall know how much I love to talk. [:)] [;)] [:D]

Well I am thinking about trying to get up early and see the 3985. I am not sure if it is leaving NLR tomorrow or on display here for the day. I would like to get some more pics of it under way. And of course I would be happy to share them if they are good. [:)]

See yall.

hey lupo-

Good morning! Another all nighter. Thank God the wife bought a pound of Maxwell House Colombian last nite. Don't know how'll I'll stay awake for the F1 race from the Nurburgring, then the Indianapolis 500 race , and then the Nascar Coca Cola 600 from Charlotte, NC. All today. Guess I can sleep during commercials and cautions !

Weather is getting warm and muggy, but little rain which we need.

Going to put on a pot of coffee, feed the three monster cats, and throw cold water on the wife so I get my bacon and eggs this AM. No grits for this displaced Yankee.

Will be back.

F1 GP race coverage starts at 7:30 AM est
Indy coverage starts at 11 AM est
Nascar Coca Cola 600 coverage starts at 5PM est

Let's see - I can skip the pre-race coverage and grab a half hour nap times 3, plus get another hour between F1 and Indy, and if Indy goes smoothly and there isn't the big wreck, I may get an hour more or less between Indy and Charlotte.

That's still only 3 1/2 hours sleep. That won't work.!
